MONSTER PARTY SALUTES THE LIFE AND CAREER OF A CREATIVE VISIONARY! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD celebrate the legendary artist who designed many of the most iconic attractions at Disneyland Theme Parks. But as you'll soon learn, his work and legacy far surpass the gates of The Magic Kingdom. MONSTER PARTY is proud to present… BOB GURR: TO DISNEYLAND AND BEYOND!!! While pursuing a career in car design, Bob got the call from Disney to create ride cars and animatronics for Disneyland. The Autopia cars! The Matterhorn bobsleds! The Haunted Mansion Doom Buggy! The original Disneyland monorail! The internal mechanisms of Abraham Lincoln for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln! All designed by Bob Gurr! After a long career as an "Imagineer," Bob left Disney to start his own company and bring us the original (and best!) King Kong Encounter for Universal Studios and the sinking pirate ship at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas! In this enlightening and inspirational episode, Bob Gurr sheds light on his early life, artistic style, work ethic, philosophy, and remarkable thirst for knowledge. We also get a slew of surprising anecdotes, including a monorail encounter with the past Vice-President of the United States… RICHARD NIXON! Whatever happened to that guy? For this very special "podfrontation," we are happy to welcome two incredible guests! The first is an award-winning producer, director, and writer, who has brought us such films as MEN IN SUITS, LOVECRAFT: FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN, and the upcoming BOB GURR: LIVING BY DESIGN. Let's hear it for friend of the show... FRANK WOODWARD!  Our second guest is the author of such sought-after books as HOW TO DRAW THE CARS OF TOMORROW, DESIGN: JUST FOR FUN, and BOB GURR: LEGENDARY IMAGINEER: LIFE AND TIMES-DISNEY AND BEYOND, and he's currently the host of the YouTube series, THE BOB GURR SHOW! Please welcome... You guessed it... BOB GURR! THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON THE INTERNET IS... MONSTER PARTY!

http://www.attractionchecklist.com -    Attraction audio recorded on . TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we head to Tomorrowland at Disneyland to take a round trip ride on The Monorail! The Disneyland website describes this attraction saying: Ride the historic, high-speed zero-emission transportation system that rockets along a single rail through the Disneyland Resort.  There are no age or height requirements for this attraction. Before we ride, here are five fast facts about Disneyland's Monorail. 1. The Disneyland Monorail opened on June 14, 1959.  When it opened it was called the Disneyland Alweg Monorail System.  Alweg being the German company that helped Walt Disney and Bob Gurr build the attraction. 2. The Disneyland Monorail fleet is currently made up of the Red, Blue and Orange Mark VII trains.  The recording for this episode was made on Monorail Blue.   3.  The Monorail system uses a 600-volt DC power source and as such, it emits no direct exhaust or pollutants into the atmosphere. 4. Each Monorail train can accommodate approximately 120 guests. 5. There is approximately 2.5 miles or 4 kilometers of Monorail track at Disneyland. Let's hop aboard Monorail Blue for a round trip ride to Downtown Disney and back.  John B. deHaas is joining me again today and after we ride, we'll give you our thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphone put them on now as we ride The Monorail at Disneyland! Imagineer Bob Gurr has always been a man on the move. And for nearly 40 years, he's helped move many a happy Disney theme park guests aboard vehicles and ride conveyances of his own design. As he has often quipped, “If it moves on wheels at Disneyland, I probably designed it.” He developed more than 100 designs for Disneyland from Autopia to the Matterhorn Bobsleds. Bob's authored books, raced cars, flown airplanes, and had a hand in a multitude of automotive designs including cars, trains, trams, monorail trains, the list goes on and on and on. In 1999, Bob was honored with the Themed Entertainment Association's Lifetime Achievement Award (THEA). The Walt Disney Company honored him in 2004 as a Disney Legend, again honored in 2008 with a Disneyland Window on Main Street.

The biggest issue is just all the guests who want to be in the new land and experience all of the changes. It is still a rather small area, so even a modest amount of guests can make the area feel overcrowded. Stroller parking is also an issue, with cast members constantly trying to rearrange them to provide more space. Disney+ has been up and running for two months now and everything is broken! Well maybe not everything, but if you have a Samsung Smart TV built in 2016 or earlier, UHD or not, forget your ability to use a convenient little app to access your new favorite platform. Sorry my Parliament Pals, the UK won't be able to scope out a single one of the 7,500 titles until March 2020. The Mandalorian is walking away with the title for raddest show of the year, but let's not forget the Imagineering Story featuring the one and the only, Bob Gurr! But with all this, and Forky from Pixar's Toy Story handing down life lessons, Disney Plus couldn't keep the identity thieves away for long. Allegedly, thousands of user accounts were hacked in the early hours of the platform's release. That said, it was a Washington Post article - meaning sources are scarce and writer credentials unclear. All things considered, Bob Iger's Disney+ is leading to more binge-worthy evenings of show watchin' and dare we say, we're not mad at that! The Kingdom Cable covers everything from the new Solar Farm in Orlando on the Disney World property, to the new Disney Store within a store model - view-able at a Target Store near you. Disneyland Cast Members can have bushy beards, flashy performance eye wear and long, daringly dangly earrings! Scar talks about French Fry rock formations in Tomorrowland, his harrowing escape when the Rocket Rods flung him into the foliage below back in the early turn o' the millennium, and the type of weapon he'd use if he were a ghost hunter. Star Wars Fans! Didn't you all love the Star Wars Christmas Special featuring Life Day? No? Very funny, of course you did. Well, some of the production cats involved in that feat of creative majesty helped with Mandalorian - so you know it's good. Baby Yoda can be found chugging soup and having some laughs, all while a guy that looks like Boba Fett risks it all to slay an angry old galactic rhino. It's no Solo, but we'll use it to tie us over in the meantime. The full Simpson's catalog can be found, albeit with a wonky aspect ratio. Coincidence? Maybe, but I believe the padding and polishing chiefs are working those kinks out as we speak to smooth things over with disgruntled fans everywhere. Big fan of puppets? Miss that Jim Henson touch? Fear not, Earth to Ned is a brand-new Disney Plus original, featuring a Muppet-packed talk show. Did that not push you to open a new tab and start your subscription? Ease on over to this little piece for a 3-hour tour of the platform, sure to get you over the fence just like Ross Perot did with his late-night infomercials: https://www.digitaltrends.com/movies/disney-plus-launch-lineup-three-hour-trailer/ - or - want to just see a complete list of Disney+ Titles?
