Join us as Sheila and Ric dive into the latest Disney news, from scavenger hunts and snack passports at Epcot's upcoming Food & Wine Festival to spooky updates on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Along the way, they dish out hot deals for Florida residents, Disneyland's 70th anniversary celebration, and even a new Disney theme park announcement—Abu Dhabi, anyone? Sheila struggles adorably with pronunciation, Ric plans a covert candy trash can heist, and yes, the Savannah Bananas are officially part of the Disneyverse now.
VIPassholder Days have officially begun at Walt Disney World, and the celebration is already packed with exclusive moments, rare character sightings, and exciting seasonal updates. Greg was on the scene this week to catch the action firsthand—and there's plenty to cover! This update is part of the May 14, 2025, edition of This Week at Walt Disney World with Sam and Greg. Rare Character Sightings at Magic Kingdom One of the week's biggest surprises came outside the Country Bear Jamboree, where Romeo first appeared. But Romeo wasn't the only character stealing the spotlight. A frog we didn't expect to meet. Farewell to Mama Melrose and Pizza Rizzo Over at Disney's Hollywood Studios, it's a bittersweet goodbye to two dining staples. Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano Rizzo has officially closed their doors. In their place, new signage is already going up for two anticipated shows: The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Villains: Unfairly Ever After. Both are scheduled to debut May 27, and Disney has now released showtimes. Halloween and Food & Wine Dates Announced It's never too early to get spooky! Tickets for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are now on sale, and Disney has confirmed that The Beak & Barrel, a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge, will open just in time for the fall festivities. Over at Epcot, we now have official dates for the 2025 Food & Wine Festival—perfect for planning your next Disney visit. Stay tuned for more VIPassholder updates and weekly Disney news as the countdown continues to summer's biggest entertainment rollouts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zte9R6cKATE
We wrap up our epic 4-day Disneyland adventure with a jam-packed finale full of iconic attractions, creative eats, and unforgettable vibes. We kick things off by blasting into Hyperspace Mountain and conquering the classic Matterhorn Bobsleds before fueling up with a legendary Disneyland breakfast chimichanga from Ship to Shore Marketplace. Our Downtown Disney detour leads to a shopping spree and a wild bite of the viral Pickle Corn Dog at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. Then it's back to Ballast Point for a midday refresh before diving deep into Disneyland's Food & Wine Festival. We break down standout dishes like the sirloin Gruyère mac, musubi fried rice, and spicy shrimp papas locas, plus sweet and savory hits from Peppers Cali-Ente and Golden Dreams. After that, it's off to Lamplight Lounge for drinks, bites, and a much-needed break—including the fan-favorite 2319 mocktail and loaded potato skins. The evening shifts to lounge hopping with stops at Broken Spell and Trader Sam's, where we try tiki cocktails, pork gyoza, and poke bowls. We hop aboard the Disneyland Monorail back to Tomorrowland, soak up the nighttime magic with popcorn, Dapper Dans, and shopping, and then wrap up with a Blue Bayou dinner—complete with crab cakes, filet mignon, and a refreshing mint julep. Before calling it a night, we experience Mickey's Mic Magic, and we hit Radiator Springs Racers, Jungle Cruise, and Haunted Mansion, before reflecting on the highlights of our entire Disneyland trip.If you've been following along, don't miss this big finish—and if you haven't, go back and catch Days 1–3 to hear the full magic unfold!MEI-Travel – Expertise. We're trading coasts and heading west for our very first trip to Disneyland! That's right—after years of covering Walt Disney World, we're finally getting the chance to experience the park that started it all. So today, we're counting down the eight things we're most excited to see, do, eat, and feel when we set foot in the Happiest Place on Earth. We kick things off with what might be one of the biggest draws for Walt Disney World veterans—simpler planning. From more day-of dining options to Lightning Lane flexibility and shorter trips that still feel full of magic, Disneyland encourages a spontaneous, go-with-the-flow style that takes the stress out of scheduling. That leads us into the vibe of the parks themselves—Disney California Adventure's uniquely themed lands, like Radiator Springs and Avengers Campus, offer a laid-back SoCal energy that's perfect for park hopping in under a minute. We'll also chat about seasonal events and entertainment we're catching during our trip, like DCA's Food & Wine Festival and Season of the Force. Add in Fantasmic! and fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle, and we've got a lot of nighttime magic to look forward to.Of course, Disneyland's culture and character interactions are a big part of the appeal. The more relaxed pace, roaming characters, and local passholder vibe all offer a very different feel from the Florida parks. And when it comes to food, we're more than ready to dig into some legendary Disneyland snacks—from corn dogs and churros to beignets and high-quality quick service. We'll wrap things up with a look at classic and unique attractions, the charming scale and layout, and finally, the emotional pull of walking in Walt's footsteps at his original park.Join us as we count down the top reasons we're absolutely thrilled to head to Disneyland for the very first time!MEI-Travel – Expertise. Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: The Sip & Savor pass is back this year for the Food & Wine Festival, so how can you get the best value? This year, you can't lose! To get the most out of the pass, which is $63, or $58 for Key Holders, you need each item to be over $7.75 (or $7.25 for Key Holders). Most of the items are above this threshold. Some of the non-alcoholic drinks and desserts are closer to the break even point, so look out for those. Another tip – order at one booth and take the receipt to the other booths for redemption. – https://www.micechat.com/381303-make-the-most-of-your-sip-savor-pass-at-california-adventure-food-wine-festival/ Sip & Savor pass purchasers should be sure to get the free picnic plate that comes with the pass. The plate is blue, and shaped like Mickey, with park icons printed on it. When we got our pass, this was not available, but it was the next day. – https://www.micechat.com/410123-disneyland-update-crowd-crush-festival-feasts-disneyland-delays/ This year there is a lot of good Food and Wine Fest merchandise! From a Mickey Ear headband, to kitchenware, to toys and bags, there is something for everyone. – https://wdwnt.com/2025/02/new-2025-disney-california-adventure-food-wine-festival-merchandise-includes-mickey-ear-headband-spirit-jersey-and-more/ Railroad fans should be very happy about this story – the Disneyland Railroad Tour is returning. Starting March 21st, guests will be able to take this tour again, which is 90 minutes, and includes a ride inside the Lilly Belle. The Lilly Belle is the last train car from Disneyland's opening day and was decorated by Lillian Disney herself. The tour also includes a treat, a tour of the roundhouse back stage, a meet and greet with a train engineer, and a special keepsake. The tour is $145 per person, with reservations open now. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/02/28/a-fan-favorite-tour-is-returning-soon-at-disneyland-resort/ The signaling building that caught fire back in 2022 at the New Orleans Square station has finally been removed. There are still walls up around the former location, but the building is gone. In other train news, the trains have been cycling around the replaced track and should be opening any time now. – https://www.micechat.com/410123-disneyland-update-crowd-crush-festival-feasts-disneyland-delays/ Indiana Jones just had it's 30th anniversary, and Club 33 is celebrating! For Weeklyteers lucky enough to have access to Club 33, there is an Indiana Jones Ceramic Tiki Mug that features snakes, skulls, and temple emblems. It looks straight out of the temple itself! The mug is $85 and comes with a “Why did it have to be snakes?” cocktail. – https://wdwnt.com/2025/03/disneyland-club-33-celebrating-indiana-jones-adventure-anniversary-with-new-ceramic-mug/ Fans of the character headbands that have popped up around the resort in the last few months will be excited to hear about some additional characters! Baymax and Mochi (the cat from Big Hero 6) are now available to adorn your headband. – https://wdwnt.com/2025/02/baymax-and-mochi-plush-added-to-custom-character-headband-experience-at-disneyland-resort/ D23 Gold members have a cool, monthly opportunity to view an exclusive presentation. In the 202nd episode of The Main Street Electrical Podcast, Jenn and Dave are celebrating National Bucket List Day! This leads to a discussion about the things, mostly travel related, that are on both their bucket lists... places they'd like to visit, cruises they'd like to take, ground they'd like to set their feet upon, and theme parks to fly to. First though, Jenn is getting ready for a huge travel summer, while Dave is putting a Cap on his wall. Then, a little news -- Epcot's Food & Wine Festival dates have been released, and we speculate on why the festival time period is shorter... and if it has to do anything with the upcoming CommuniCore opening.. and of course, speculation of what we might see in there. Then, Disney filed permits for work on the Imagination Pavilion, so we also make some wildly off base yet fully educated guesses as to what Disney might be doing next in this area. And, is Figment so popular that he still needs his own attraction? Hollywood Studios has a 35th anniversary coming up... Smellephant is brand new in Magic Kingdom... new experiences require pre-payment (and why Mace Windu's lightsaber is purple)... and Jenn's joy that her favorite restaurant just got one huge award. Then onto the Bucket List chat, which really just devolves into a travel discussion about places we want to go, but it's always entertaining.

In the 167th episode of The Main Street Electrical Podcast, Jenn & Dave reunite on the show, as she's returned from her long cruise away (only to leave next week too!). But in the meantime, they do a little catch up over the weeks, then dive into a bunch of random park news topics, including the opening of Minionland... the building of Dreamworks park area... the beginning of the Food & Wine Festival... the first night of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (and the sold-out days so far)... Disney Springs parking changes... and the Haunted Mansion closing--for two days. Plus the update on the updated Dining systems at Disney World and Disneyland. They do a little "will it open again" chat with various areas that haven't reopened yet, including Blizzard Beach and Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Finally... Jenn saw a movie! They both had the chance to see Disney's latest live action film "The Haunted Mansion", and they both give their take on the movie -- what worked (lots of Easter Eggs) and maybe what didn't (might be a tad too dark).
