This is week 4 for our VBS lessons, and it is all about Magnifying God's forgiveness. Join Pastor Jeff as we explore the story of Jesus and Nicodemus this week from John 3. John 3:5-8 5 Jesus answered, “What I'm about to tell you is true. No one can enter God's kingdom unless they are born with water and the Holy Spirit. 6 People give birth to people. But the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised when I say, ‘You must all be born again.' 8 The wind blows where it wants to. You hear the sound it makes. But you can't tell where it comes from or where it is going. It is the same with everyone who is born with the Spirit.”

This is week 3 of our VBS lessons, and it is all about Magnifying God's Love. Today, Pastor Jeff shares that Jesus comes right to where you are—at home, school, church, or anywhere else. John 4:4-5 4 Jesus had to go through Samaria. 5 He came to a town in Samaria called Sychar. It was near the piece of land Jacob had given his son Joseph.

This week, Pastor Jeff has been talking about Magnifying God's Care and how we can learn to trust God to take care of us because God cares about each of us. Mark 4:40-41 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Don't you have any faith at all yet?” 41 They were terrified. They asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

In exploring the distinct characteristics of God, theologians often define “grace” as receiving what one doesn't deserve, and “mercy” as not receiving what one does deserve. Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar remind listeners that every breath is an unearned mercy, reinforcing the concept that grace is not guaranteed. Ungratefulness often stems from overlooking life's every breath as a gift from God, even trials and circumstances as opportunities for divine work.Ephesians 2:1-5 reminds believers of their shared past state, emphasizing God's rich mercy. Pride often clouds the memory of being equally deserving of wrath. Theologian John Calvin highlights the necessity of understanding indebtedness to God's mercy for sincere worship. Pastor and theologian John Chapell notes that gratitude, rooted in mercy, motivates enduring Christian service. Examining 1 Peter 1-3 emphasizes God's abundant mercy in spiritual rebirth, inseparable from the gospel.Reflecting on 2 Samuel 24:14, David acknowledges God's great mercy in distress, urging believers to repent and trust in God's character. To fully appreciate and extend God's mercy, acknowledgment of justified law, judgment, and wrath is vital.The guys underscore God's greater delight in mercy over wrath. Exodus 20:19 reveals a fear of God meant to prevent sin, a fear believers must cultivate, intertwined with the mercy saving them from wrath. Magnifying God isn't about making God look bigger than He really is – It's about sharing a true picture of how big our God is.  Our worship of God, in our singing and in our normal, day to day activities are opportunities to demonstrate how incredible and magnificent Jesus is, even though the world doesn't pay Him much attention; even though Hollywood and Washington, DC don't think He's that important. Mary's story teaches us that magnifying God doesn't mean you have to do huge things for God; just do small things with huge love.  The greatest spiritual act of worship that Mary ever performed in life was carrying and giving birth to and nurturing a baby.  The most profound and eloquent sermon she ever preached was being a mom. In worshiping God with her lips and with her day to day living, Mary magnified her God, and she took incredible joy in magnifying God, so the world could see how big He really is.  John Piper wrote, “The whole duty of the Christian can be summed up in this: feel, think, and act in a way that will make God look as great as he really is” – My entire purpose, your entire reason for existing, is to magnify God.
