Editor: The window for getting on the ballot for the China Grove city government closes on Feb. 14. This year the term of three city council members and the mayor will expire and will be on the ballot. For the first time, large corporations (mega warehouse developers) have become directly involved in the politics of China Grove and the election of council members. A mass mail out has been made and a professional website has been set up on the internet for the sole purpose of criticizing and discrediting present council members who have voted against the developers' interests. Now everyone in the playoffs has played at least one postseason game, or if you look at it another way, more than 60% of the playoff games are already over. And people are in a hurry to dismiss the WIAC, and they're in a hurry to crown NPI, because higher seeds have won 21 of the 24 games. (Of course, higher seeds have been at home in 23 out of 24 games, which might be a factor.) What did we learn from these games? Of the remaining high seeds, which ones improved their standing, improved their chances of going deep into this bracket, and which ones' chances are diminished? Patrick and Greg go through it all in this edition of the podcast. And most importantly, if the Texas Lutheran-Linfield game was dessert, what kind of dessert was it? We hear from coaches and players involved in second-round games on Saturday, and we sit down with Johns Hopkins coach Dan Wodicka to talk about his team's heart-stopping finish against Grove City, their defensive prowess and their offensive adjustments as the season has progressed. Wodicka, who played for and coached under the late Jim Margraff, talks about how playing at JHU made him want to coach there, and reminds us how the program is carrying on Margraff's memory. Plus, who is leading the staff pick-em contest that is better known as Quick Hits? Stay tuned to hear about whose picks are doing the best, and to hear a tribute to his performance so far.
This week on the New Generation Sports Report podcast we talk about the Grove City boys cross country team winning a state title for the second time in three years and the start of the District 10 football playoffs.

Frank & JB bring you one of their most exciting Crunchtime episodes ever as they recap 14 sets of highlights from Week 6 action in #d3fb, including the three major WIAC games that caught the nation's attention. Hardin-Simmons came out of Saturday with another big, signature win, its second in as many weeks. The Cowboys keep exorcising those demons, this time coming up with their first win in Mary Hardin-Baylor's Crusader Stadium. What's it like to have beaten Mary Hardin-Baylor pretty impressively but also know that that's a good team on the other sideline that you have to play again this season? Do you hold anything back in your playbook for a second meeting? HSU coach Jesse Burleson joins us to talk about that and a few other things on Fast Five. Plus, of course, another week of wackiness in the WIAC, and we'll talk through all of that mess, as well as the big showdown between Grove City and Carnegie Mellon. GCC coach Andrew DiDonato talks about that key win for his Wolverines. We'll whip you through the big games in Division III from this past weekend. Plus, who's having fun in the 1? Who's looking for something new in the 2? Who's running free in the 3? Who's looking for to restore the roar in the 4? Who's looking alive in the 5? And, who's got something to fix in the 6? To see a list of all the teams talked about in this podcast, look at the list at the bottom of the post. Math Correspondent Logan Hansen talks about the three biggest playoff leverage games for Week 7, plus gives his usual snapshot for how those top eight seeds are looking. Has Mount Union crept into the Top 8 yet? Remember, this is based on projection of how the season will play out and of course, teams with harder schedules might have a harder time making the top eight because they might not actually win all their games. We also hand out game balls to the top performers, pick out the stats of the week, and run through region by region to get some of the other stories you might have missed. And since that never seems to be enough, Greg and Patrick have to pick one more region to tell one more story about on the fly. There's that and so much more in this week's podcast, so give it a listen! The D3football.com podcast is a weekly in-season podcast by Patrick Coleman and Greg Thomas, which was started in 2007. New episodes are published weekly during the season.

This series is about defining the vision and mission of Covenant Church in Grove City. We will touch on the heart of God, the need in the city, and the role of the church global. However, we will also get specific about the way in which our church body has a mission to reach our city. The plan for reaching our city begins by being a place where people can come in order to Know God and start a relationship with Him. We will be a church where people who have a relationship with Jesus are encouraged to Grow in Community with their brothers and sisters in Christ. As we grow, we will help people to Discover Purpose as they begin to see that they too have a role to play in the story of reaching our city and within the church. Our hope is then to challenge and release people to go out and Make a Difference in their world as they help people to get to Know God.

Pastor Dale Benson Are humans good or evil? The answer is not necessarily so black and white. Genesis 1:26-27 (NLT) - You are created in God's image! That is good! It is not good for Adam to be alone. Genesis 2:23-24 (NLT) - After creating woman, man and woman sin, it is not enough for us to be made in the image of God. - We want to be God. - You are a fallen human being - (That's not good.) Matthew 5:21-22, 27-28, 31-34, 37 (NLT) Our perceptions in relationships begin in the heart, and what we accept or reject begins in our hearts and minds. - Our perceptions and perspectives on these issues shift due to how the world views and accepts divorce as normal. Jesus points to the people in His day and acknowledges that Moses allowed the people to write a divorce paper, and apparently, that was happening a lot. Jesus says this is not God's desire. Divorce has become too acceptable. "It's just something that happens," or "It wasn't an option until it was." - We all understand that the act of murdering someone is actual murder, but when we lie, we murder the truth. When we commit adultery, we murder the love we have for lust for another. When we get divorced, we participate in the murder of a family. The family that existed no longer exists. When we often hear about Jesus, we think about love, grace, and forgiveness. This is a passage where Jesus seems to make the law harder. He moves us away from the actions we do (or don't do) and moves into the issues surrounding our hearts and minds. - We must be constantly aware. Last week, Yhoshua and Caleb showed us how Jesus taught us to pray, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." I don't think we really take this to heart. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that our enemy is like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." - Satan is sneaky. When you watch TV or social media, or anything else, deception, adultery, divorce, and any other number of heinous things are fully shown to us, with almost no restrictions. - The answer is not to put more laws in place to stop this. The Jews had laws. Laws don't change our hearts. We change them by constantly renewing our minds. This does not start when we are married. It starts when we are young. For those in your youth and teenage years headed to college, it takes allowing God to continue to shape you to be like Him. It is not about being evil or good. It is about reflecting God. - Pastor David quoted Jesus two weeks ago: "You are to be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect." We were created in God's likeness and image. We are not God. But we are made to reflect Him in all we say and do (outwardly) for the world to see. This work begins inwardly as soon as we come to know Him. Together, as individuals made in God's image, we come to reflect this God who created us in their likeness and image-to live in relationships that reflect the very relationship of the Trinity itself. The call today is to admit a few things. 1. God loves me, and He created me in His image. So, I am created good. 2. I do things I shouldn't because I have fallen and need a Savior. 3. I live in a fallen world filled with many other people like me. I must work on allowing God to help me be reformed, conformed, or transformed into His image. Your first step today is not simply to pray and ask God to forgive you and change your heart but to begin working on this in the community. This is not just an issue in our society. It is a huge issue in Grove City and the surrounding communities. If we are going to see change, we need The Naz to be the kind of place where we know that seeking help is not a luxury. It is a necessity. We want to create an environment where seeking help is valued even more than simply admitting there is a problem. As we model that, it will help others seek the help they need and share that help with others. We will begin to see the changes that need to take place in our world. Right here on earth as it is in heaven.

Dr. Caleb Bupp. In my opinion. A scientific star. He is a most humble human, but has every right to brag, but he never would. I do believe he's a genius. You will love this podcast. We talk about rare disease, his family and how he discovered and helped families who had no rare disease answers, until they met him! An absolute scientific rock star. I met Dr. Bupp at a MichiBio event that introduced legislators, advocates and doctors to one another. One of the best events I have attended and now I can follow Dr. Bupp and watch him change the medical world. Here are his stats: Caleb Bupp, MD, FACMG – Division Chief, Medical Genetics and Genomics. Dr. Caleb Bupp is a pediatric trained, board-certified medical geneticist with Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He serves as the Division Chief of Medical Genetics and Genomics. He is also an assistant professor at Michigan State University. He co-discovered a treatable genetic syndrome caused by ODC1 mutations now termed Bachmann-Bupp syndrome and is the clinical director of the International Center for Polyamine Disorders. This was recently recognized by the New York Intellectual Property Law Association as their ‘Inventor of the Year' for his patent related to this condition. He helped create and run Project Baby Deer, a statewide initiative to provide access to rapid whole genome sequencing which resulted in Michigan Medicaid being the first to create an approval and carve-out payment policy. Dr. Bupp helped form the Rare Disease Network which provides support and education throughout Michigan. Dr. Bupp received his Bachelor of Science in molecular biology from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Ohio. He completed pediatrics residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and his medical genetics training at the Greenwood Genetic Center in South Carolina.Cheers to science and innovation. Today I talked to Donald Opitz and Derek Melleby about their book Learning for the Love of God: A Student's Guide to Academic Faithfulness (Brazos Press, 2014). Most Christian college students separate their academic life from church attendance, Bible study, and prayer. Too often discipleship of the mind is overlooked if not ignored altogether. In this lively and enlightening book, two authors who are experienced in college youth ministry show students how to be faithful in their studies, approaching education as their vocation.
