Noel Heatherland with Georgia Equality was kind enough to join me Thursday morning ahead of Atlanta Pride to provide a bit of a "temp check" on all things Georgia LGBTQIA+ rights. ------Shame on Marci Collier-Overstreet, one of two Democrats vying to be Atlanta City Council President, for using the groan-worthy "defund the police" quip at a recent Atlanta Press Club debate, in an attempt to take a swipe at her opponent, Rohit Malhotra. Overstreet, it should be noted, voted in favor every time she had the chance, for the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center - aka "Cop City."
Despite the almost universal agreement that the United States healthcare system needs to move to value-based care, forward progress on that movement has all but stalled. Why? A big driver…no ...
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Janet Blankenship Overstreet. Born on Aug. 12, 1941, to parents Robert Lee Blankenship Sr. and Carrie Dell Milstead Blankenship. Janet peacefully departed this life on Sept. 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family . Janet was a woman of faith and grace, whose kindness touched the hearts of many. She devoted her life to her family and to her church, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored and delighted in spoiling. Her warm, generous spirit shone brightly in all her endeavors,...Article Link

In this unique episode, Kerith Overstreet of Bruliam Wines in Sonoma returns to give us an update (she was on Ep 269 in 2019). Kerith/Bruliam is a boutique producer of vineyard-designated wines, mainly of Pinot Noir and she gives us a full education on the differences between some of the main Pinot regions of California. The cool thing about this show? The last third of the podcast is a business discussion about something she and I are always discussing – how to get our kids' generation – Gen Z – to appreciate wine. Kerith's daughter Amelia (the AM in BruliAM), a 21-year-old Gen Z'er, joins to help us analyze the situation and give some advice (she's a smart cookie and has some great insight!). For anyone who has young people in their lives and is wondering how to turn them on to wine, this should be an interesting perspective. Photo: Kerith Overstreet in her vineyard. In this episode of Catholic Moms in the Middle, I sit down with my dear friend of 15 years, Mona Overstreet. Mona is a convert to the Catholic faith, and her story is one of incredible resilience, deep faith, and a heart fully surrendered to God. After caring for her adoptive mother for eight years and walking through tremendous personal loss and illness, Mona now lives in an assisted living facility where she sees her life as a mission field. She calls this season her “fourth quarter,” and she's committed to using every moment to glorify God and bring others closer to Him. Mona shares how her suffering has shaped her—not as a burden, but as a path to holiness. From quieting the noise by removing distractions like TV to spending time in daily Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, Mona is intentional about hearing God's voice and acting on it. She reminds us that even in weakness, pain, or isolation, God can use us powerfully. Whether she's praying for strangers in the grocery store or sharing her faith with staff at her facility, Mona is a shining example of what it means to live your faith out loud. Her story is a beautiful witness to the strength that comes from Christ alone. If you're walking through suffering, loss, or uncertainty, I pray that Mona's words encourage you to keep talking to God, to stay rooted in the sacraments, and to trust that He is working—even when you can't see it. Jennie Guinn is a Catholic life coach, podcaster, and radio show host who walks with women facing life's unexpected turns. She helps them encounter the Father's love, be transformed by the Holy Spirit, and find healing from pain and disappointment so they can magnify Christ with their lives. Through faith-filled coaching and heartfelt conversations, Jennie empowers women to rediscover hope and to live life with purpose and joy.

Episode No. 696 features curators Natalie Dupêcher and Leigh Arnold. Dupêcher is the curator of "Joe Overstreet: Taking Flight" at the Menil Collection, Houston. "Taking Flight" offers work from three of Overstreet's abstract painting series: Flight Pattern (early 1970s), and related bodies of work from the 1960s and 1990s. While recent exhibitions such as "Now Dig This!" (Hammer Museum, 2011) and "Soul of a Nation" (Tate Modern, 2017) have included Overstreets, this is the first solo museum exhibition of his work in 30 years. The Menil's exhbition guide is available here. An exhibition catalogue will be available in the late spring. "Taking Flight" is on view through July 13. Arnold is the curator of "Haegue Yang: Lost Lands and Sunken Fields" at the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas. Across two floors, the exhibition reveals Yang's critique of the modernist project and its tendency toward singular Western domination. It is on view through April 27. Works discussed on the program include: Yang's Spring Sailors – Six Synecologies Aloft (2024) at 2024's Lahore Biennial. Instagram: Natalie Dupêcher, Leigh Arnold, Tyler Green.

Chris Overstreet from Compassion to Action, shares with us the importance of staying tender to Gods heart. He asks, "What is on your heart, Who is on your heart and Who can I serve." This week on The Whiskey Trip, Big Chief steps away from the distillery scene to welcome Southeast Texas country music artist Chloe Overstreet and her guitar, Angel, to Bayou Sunset Farm. Over pours of sweeter whiskeys, Chloe opens up about her music and the journey of breaking into the country scene. At just 21, Chloe has been singing her heart out since her early teens, and she has a soft spot for sweeter whiskeys. Big Chief kicks things off with Traverse City Whiskey Company's American Cherry Edition—a taste of cherry pie in a glass. Next up is Hermann Farm and Distillery's Black Shire Blackberry Flavored Whiskey, a true dessert whiskey that's perfect over ice or warmed. In the second half, Big Chief shares some Garrison Brothers Honeydew—a wheated bourbon with a gentle honey touch that makes for an ideal nightcap. To wrap up, Chloe gets the honor of helping Chief polish off one of his all-time favorites, a Honey Cask from Giant Texas Distillery. With notes of sorghum molasses, figs, and a kick of cinnamon spice, it's one he'll miss. This episode brings together two of Big Chief's great loves: soulful music and remarkable whiskey. Cheers to another unforgettable ride on The Whiskey Trip!
