Episode No. 696 features curators Natalie Dupêcher and Leigh Arnold. Dupêcher is the curator of "Joe Overstreet: Taking Flight" at the Menil Collection, Houston. "Taking Flight" offers work from three of Overstreet's abstract painting series: Flight Pattern (early 1970s), and related bodies of work from the 1960s and 1990s. While recent exhibitions such as "Now Dig This!" (Hammer Museum, 2011) and "Soul of a Nation" (Tate Modern, 2017) have included Overstreets, this is the first solo museum exhibition of his work in 30 years. The Menil's exhbition guide is available here. An exhibition catalogue will be available in the late spring. "Taking Flight" is on view through July 13. Arnold is the curator of "Haegue Yang: Lost Lands and Sunken Fields" at the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas. Across two floors, the exhibition reveals Yang's critique of the modernist project and its tendency toward singular Western domination. It is on view through April 27. Works discussed on the program include: Yang's Spring Sailors – Six Synecologies Aloft (2024) at 2024's Lahore Biennial. Instagram: Natalie Dupêcher, Leigh Arnold, Tyler Green.

This week on The Whiskey Trip, Big Chief steps away from the distillery scene to welcome Southeast Texas country music artist Chloe Overstreet and her guitar, Angel, to Bayou Sunset Farm. Over pours of sweeter whiskeys, Chloe opens up about her music and the journey of breaking into the country scene. At just 21, Chloe has been singing her heart out since her early teens, and she has a soft spot for sweeter whiskeys. Big Chief kicks things off with Traverse City Whiskey Company's American Cherry Edition—a taste of cherry pie in a glass. Next up is Hermann Farm and Distillery's Black Shire Blackberry Flavored Whiskey, a true dessert whiskey that's perfect over ice or warmed. In the second half, Big Chief shares some Garrison Brothers Honeydew—a wheated bourbon with a gentle honey touch that makes for an ideal nightcap. To wrap up, Chloe gets the honor of helping Chief polish off one of his all-time favorites, a Honey Cask from Giant Texas Distillery. With notes of sorghum molasses, figs, and a kick of cinnamon spice, it's one he'll miss. This episode brings together two of Big Chief's great loves: soulful music and remarkable whiskey. Cheers to another unforgettable ride on The Whiskey Trip!

This week we are sharing one of our favorite podcasts with you! Please enjoy this episode of Mining for Gold's podcast: Audio Nuggets. Links, transcripts, and shownotes available at https://vermontcwtp.org/podcast/ Welcome to the cypher, right here on Audio Nuggets! On Audio Nuggets we strive to bend the arc of non-linear modes through conversations that tug and pull from the best of who we are. We give ourselves rooted permission to tell a collective story of the principled struggle for liberation. We are filled with joy and honored to be joined by Myah Overstreet for Episode 35: To Be Invisible—A True Narrative. Myah Overstreet is a filmmaker and journalist. Her area of focus is on the intersection of culture and racial injustices among marginalized communities. She is dedicated to amplifying bold, untold stories. Just two weeks ago, Myah's documentary “To Be Invisible” was published on The New Yorker site. The film follows the journey of Alexis and Kelley as they demand the return of their children from the family police in North Carolina. Shining light and love on Black women was always what Myah wanted to focus her work on. In this episode, we unpack Myah's journey to using film and journalism to tell the true narrative of reproductive justice rights of Black women, and the policing of bodies--the story that is not talked about. Myah shares the evolution of the film and how she joined with mothers and activists in the movement to abolish family policing to tell the story. Myah brings life and love to the film to magnify what's been hidden. Every story that is told in this true narrative is getting us closer to a new world!

Lots of events happened this weekend so it was difficult to figure out which event to focus on and which particular athlete to have on the show. I try not to have the same guest on for their own episode too many times, one of the big events had a lot of issues and I'd want to have more of the dust settle before we consider having an athlete on to talk about it. Then Mike saw that Jenny Overstreet won Toughest Mudder Chicago! He first met her at the end of OCR America 2 during the KC Timber Challenge coverage. He was severely sleep deprived from a full week of traveling across the country doing OCR so he has limited memories of that day but it definitely happened! Jenny is an athlete from the midwest who is known to be a formidable ultra OCR athlete from previous Toughest and World Toughest Mudders so we were excited to have her on the show for her own episode. Be sure to check out the MudGear Hannibal Race Pro Team that she is a part of as well as her gym RoKC! 0:00 – 3:18 – Intro 3:11 – 16:55 – Quick News 16:55 – 17:32 – Content Preface 17:32 - 1:00:35 - Jenny Overstreet Interview 1:00:35 - End – Outro Next weekend we will celebrating episode 400 (with a live intro and outro which we totally didn't forget about until recording the outro) and will hopefully have one or two special guests who I have been wanting to have on the show for over 5 years! ____ News Stories: Daniel Romanchuk Married USA OCR National Championships Reminder I Am A Spartan Podcast Hit 200 Episodes Trevor Cichosz New Book Simone Spirito Baby Nikolai Dam Baby Spartan Sprint and 100 Meter World Championship Money Ally Tippetts Anniversary Obstacle Wonderland Looking for Spring 2025 Theme and Title Spartan Trifecta World Championships in West Virginia?
