Last Call | Alabama Football Has a Problem: QB Battle, O-Line Losses & DeBoer Under Fire

The Next Round

Alabama Football enters a pivotal offseason as Kalen DeBoer begins shaping the next era in Tuscaloosa — and the stakes couldn't be higher. In this episode, the hosts break down why it's a positive sign that neither Alabama quarterback transferred, despite heavy portal movement elsewhere. DeBoer publicly called it a win, but the panel isn't convinced everything is perfect — especially up front, where Alabama may have lost too many offensive linemen to the transfer portal. The conversation centers on the QB competition between Austin Mack and Keelon Russell. Mack is viewed as a talented but still hard-to-evaluate option, while Russell's arm talent stands out immediately, with the hosts saying his ball comes off “like dynamite.” Ultimately, they agree the job will come down to mental processing, command of the offense, and comfort in DeBoer's system. The show also dives into Alabama's offensive line coaching change, explaining why the previous staff was replaced after multiple underwhelming seasons. New O-line coach Adrian Klemm arrives with a strong résumé as a run game coordinator and a track record of elevating line play — something the hosts agree Alabama desperately needed. From there, the discussion shifts to the NFL, where the panel calls it “embarrassing” that Bill Belichick was not elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, especially given Clem's ties to Belichick and his coaching tree. The episode wraps with a pair of powerful Alabama stories: Jake Coker recounts running into former coach Dameyune Craig at the Senior Bowl and reflects on how Craig fought to get him scholarship opportunities at both Florida State and Alabama. A tribute to Eddie Conyers, who passed away at 97 after serving as a referee at Alabama practices for nearly 60 years, including a classic Nick Saban story involving a flag Conyers had to pick back up after getting chewed out. From quarterback intrigue to coaching changes and Crimson Tide history, this is a must-watch conversation for any Alabama Football fan. Pool Pros text questions hereIn this in-depth episode of the Talking Pools Podcast, host Rudy Stankowitz delivers a deep technical discussion on one of the most misunderstood subjects in modern pool care: algae misidentification and the biocidal mechanisms of metals. Drawing on eight years of dedicated cyanobacteria research, Rudy breaks down the fundamental differences between cyanobacteria (commonly mislabeled as black algae), diatoms (often called mustard algae), and true green algae, explaining why treating them as the same organism leads to repeated failures, surface damage, and wasted chemicals. This episode goes far beyond color-based diagnosis. Rudy explains how copper, silver, and zinc function as biocidal system disruptors, not simple “algae killers.” The discussion explores how these metals interfere with cellular respiration, photosynthetic electron transport, enzymatic activity, and adhesion mechanisms—clarifying why metals can suppress, control, or prevent regrowth when applied correctly, and why misuse leads to staining, false blame, and poor outcomes. If you service pools, teach water chemistry, or manage aquatic facilities, this episode reframes metals from superstition to science.Rudy also previews his upcoming sessions at the Western Pool & Spa Show, emphasizing that education and networking are no longer optional in a high-risk, chemistry-driven industry. His sessions will focus on mentorship as infrastructure, burnout prevention, and why professional development is the only sustainable response to peak-season pressure, staffing shortages, and increasing regulatory scrutiny. The episode speaks directly to pool professionals balancing sanitation standards, water quality, and real-world constraints under extreme workloads. The episode further includes a 2026 update on the BioLab chemical fire in Conyers, Georgia, originally occurring on September 29, 2024—an incident with continuing environmental, legal, and regulatory implications. As reported by Georgia Public Broadcasting, post-fire testing detected chromium in debris and ash, yet the state-approved cleanup did not require analysis to determine whether that chromium was hexavalent chromium, a known carcinogen—a decision some scientists consider controversial. Top Stories for December 6th Publish Date: December 6th PRE-ROLL: SUGAR HILL ICE SKATING From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Saturday, December 6th and Happy Birthday to Peter Buck from REM I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by Gwinnett KIA Mall of Georgia. Gwinnett Chamber Foundation honors small business leaders at inaugural Power of Impact Gala Lawmakers seek Lottery money for need-based college scholarships Applications for Jackson EMC Washington Youth Tour now open All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: Kia Mall of Georgia STORY 1: Gwinnett Chamber Foundation honors small business leaders at inaugural Power of Impact Gala The Gwinnett Chamber Foundation held its first-ever Power of Impact Gala on Dec. 3 at Bear’s Best Suwanee, bringing together over 130 business leaders to celebrate small business growth and mentorship. Award winners included Dr. William “Bill” Russell (Legacy Business Leader), Alicia Cole of Lillies Boutique (Certification Cohort Member), and Berthine Crèvecoeur West of Westbridge Solutions (Accelerator Cohort Member). The event also celebrated the 2025 Small Business Impact Institute graduates, seven of whom earned supply-chain certifications. STORY 2: Lawmakers seek Lottery money for need-based college scholarships Georgia’s public colleges hit record enrollment this fall, with over 382,000 students, but a bipartisan Senate committee says too many are still being left behind. The HOPE Scholarship, funded by the state lottery, has helped over 2 million students since 1993, but it’s merit-based—requiring a 3.0 GPA—and doesn’t account for financial need. For low-income students juggling work and school, losing HOPE often means dropping out entirely. The committee is pushing for a $126 million need-based aid program, funded by the lottery’s $1.7 billion reserves. But not everyone’s on board. Critics argue need-based aid feels like “social welfare,” despite warnings of a growing “brain drain” as students leave Georgia for better financial aid elsewhere. Gov. Brian Kemp praised HOPE’s legacy this week, but advocates say Georgia must do more to keep talented students in-state. STORY 3: Applications for Jackson EMC Washington Youth Tour now open Jackson EMC is now accepting applications for the 2026 Washington Youth Tour—a once-in-a-lifetime, all-expenses-paid trip to D.C. from June 12-19. Four lucky high school sophomores or juniors from the Jackson EMC service area will be selected for this leadership experience. Who’s eligible? Students with strong grades, a passion for community service, and an interest in building connections. You can apply online at jacksonemc.com/wyt or be nominated by a teacher or counselor. Applications close Jan. 31, 2026. Finalists will interview on Feb. 16 with a panel of leaders. The trip includes visits to monuments, Smithsonian museums, Arlington Cemetery, and even a chance to meet Georgia’s congressional delegation. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: Ingles Markets - DTL HOLIDAY STORY 4: Walmart launches drone delivery service in Georgia — including Loganville No, drones won’t be squeezing down your chimney, but if you live near one of six Walmart Supercenters around Atlanta, they might just drop a package on your lawn in time for Christmas. Walmart, teaming up with Wing, announced Wednesday that drone deliveries are now a thing in metro Atlanta—just in time for last-minute shoppers. Need wrapping paper? Holiday meal ingredients? A stocking stuffer you forgot? These 12-pound drones, zipping along at 60 mph, can deliver in five minutes if you’re within six miles. For now, Georgia’s drone-enabled Walmarts are in Conyers, Dallas, Hiram, Loganville, McDonough, and Woodstock. And while this is Atlanta’s first legal drone delivery service, drones have already been making, uh, less festive deliveries—state officials recently flagged them as a growing problem for smuggling contraband into prisons. Still, for holiday procrastinators, this tech could be a game-changer. Fewer delivery trucks on the road? That’s a win for everyone. STORY 5: ‘TIS THE SEASON: Your 2025 Guide To Tree Lightings And Holiday Celebrations In And Around Gwinnett County The holidays are in full swing, and there’s no shortage of festive fun around Gwinnett County. Here’s a quick rundown: **Suwanee’s Jolly Holly Days** (Dec. 8–9): Two days of crafts, live music, a pet parade, and Santa’s grand arrival. **Lilburn Holiday Parade** (Dec. 9): Floats, bands, and Christmas characters galore. **Duluth’s Deck the Hall** (Dec. 9): Snow slides, crafts, and Santa pics. For more, check city websites! Break 3: GCPS HIRING STORY 6: Dr. Carla Price joins Northeast Georgia Physicians Group in Dacula For over 20 years, Dr. Carla Price has been a familiar face in northeast Georgia, caring for families and building relationships that last. Now, she’s bringing her expertise—and her heart—to Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Hamilton Mill. Her journey started on a farm in Fairmont, West Virginia, where she helped her grandfather care for sick cows. That early love of healing led her to West Virginia University for med school, then Savannah for residency, and eventually to Winder in 2002. Now, when she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find her on her 8-acre horse farm in Jefferson, raising chickens, riding horses, or tending to her bees. She’s also a beach lover, often escaping with her fiancé and three daughters. NGPG Hamilton Mill, located at 3575 Braselton Highway in Dacula, is open seven days a week. Call 770-848-5300 or visit ngpg.org/price to book an appointment. STORY 7: Rainbow Village marks 12th year as Subaru of Gwinnett's hometown charity Rainbow Village, a Duluth nonprofit helping families overcome homelessness, has once again been named Subaru of Gwinnett’s Hometown Charity for the 2025 Subaru Share the Love® Event. This marks 12 years of partnership, with donations from car sales and service appointments supporting Rainbow Village’s mission of “Help, Hope, Housing, and Healing.” For a nonprofit that relies on private funding for 90% of its budget, relationships like this are a lifeline. Last year’s event raised $51,475. This year? They’re aiming even higher. STORY 2: FBI warns about rise in charity and disaster-relief fraud as holiday season ramps up The holidays are here, and so are the scammers—because, of course, they are. The FBI is warning folks to watch out for charity and disaster-relief fraud, which always seems to spike after major disasters or crises. These scammers? They’re sneaky. They’ll pose as legit charities, relief workers, or even government agencies, using emails, fake websites, crowdfunding pages, or social media to tug at your heartstrings—and your wallet. Sometimes they’ll even offer cleanup services, demand payment upfront, and then vanish. The FBI’s advice? Double-check charities before donating, skip sketchy links, and stick to secure payments (no gift cards or wire transfers). Stay sharp out there. STORY 3: Walmart launches drone delivery service in Woodstock  Residents near the Woodstock Walmart on Highway 92 can now have small packages delivered by drone—yes, drones. Walmart and Wing, the drone company behind the service, kicked things off Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the first official delivery. Woodstock is one of six metro Atlanta cities chosen for the launch, alongside Conyers, Dallas, Hiram, Loganville, and McDonough. The drones, fully electric and weighing about 11 pounds, can carry up to two pounds of goods and fly six miles one way. They operate quietly at low altitudes, dropping packages to designated spots like driveways or backyards. Here is what Senator John Albers had to say about these new delivery drones. JOHN ALBERS CUT To see if you’re eligible, visit wing.com/atlanta. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info.    We’ll be right back. Break: Ingles Markets 6 STORY 4: Wolverines perfect through five games Woodstock basketball is on fire. Under third-year coach Eric Blair, the Wolverines are off to a perfect 5-0 start—already their best in nearly a decade. They crushed Roswell 58-34 before Thanksgiving, thanks to sophomore phenom Jahmar Maurice dropping 21 points. The team’s averaging 70.4 points per game, a huge leap from last year’s 57.7. They’ve blown out opponents like Blessed Trinity (by 30!) and edged out a nail-biter against Chapel Hill. With region play kicking off today against Creekview, the Wolverines are eyeing a championship. They swept the Grizzlies last year, and a win this week would be a big step toward that goal. For now, though, this team is rolling—and it’s hard not to get excited about what’s ahead. GA BULLDOGS: Georgia lost five-star quarterback Jared Curtis to Vanderbilt just before National Signing Day, dropping their recruiting class to No. 6. Despite the hit, the Bulldogs signed 30 players, including one five-star, defensive lineman Valdin Sone, and 22 four-stars. Key signees include local standout Craig Dandridge Jr., three top tight ends like Kaiden Prothro, and Colquitt County running back Jae Lamar. Defense was a focus, with edge rushers Pierre Dean and Khamari Brooks, plus safeties Jordan Smith and Zech Fort. Gwinnett County contributed five players, including Carter Luckie, continuing his family’s Georgia legacy. Coach Kirby Smart’s class remains strong despite the late shakeup. I’m Keith Ippolito and this is your Tribune Sports Minute. STORY 5: Cherokee County to form T-SPLOST citizen committee Cherokee County is forming a five-member citizen committee to keep an eye on how the county spends the $445 million expected from the new T-SPLOST, which kicks off April 1 and runs for six years. The Board of Commissioners approved the plan on Dec. 2, and each commissioner will appoint one member to the group. Their job? Make sure the county sticks to the approved project list and spends the money responsibly. They can give advice and updates but can’t change the project list. The committee, unpaid and open to the public, will hold its first meeting in early 2026. Questions? Comments? Text Us!In this deeply moving episode of God: An Autobiography, The Podcast, philosopher Richard Oxenberg—co-author of Two Philosophers Wrestle With God—shares his full spiritual story for the first time. His journey begins with childhood tragedy: witnessing the sudden death of his seven-year-old sister. The shock shattered his early understanding of God, safety, and reality. From that moment, Richard became a lifelong seeker. He describes moving through secular Judaism, atheism, and years of intellectual searching. Zen Buddhism, Hindu philosophy, and the symbolic theology of Paul Tillich each opened new doors, yet none fulfilled his deeper longing for spiritual connection.Everything changed when he encountered an Indian guru and experienced overwhelming energetic phenomena—experiences that were both exhilarating and terrifying. This crisis pushed him toward Christianity, where a transformative encounter at a monastery in Conyers, Georgia offered unexpected peace.Richard speaks honestly about trauma, mystical experience, fear, grace, and the long struggle to discern truth. He explores the difference between understanding God intellectually and encountering the divine directly.Through reflections on samsara, the ground of being, baptism, communion, and the “peace that passeth understanding,” Richard reveals how faith finally took shape in him as trust in the ultimate goodness of reality. This episode is a profound look at doubt, longing, spiritual awakening, and the human search for meaning—and at a God who meets us through every question.Other Series:The podcast began with the Dramatic Adaptation of the book and now has several series:The Life Wisdom Project – Spiritual insights on living a wiser, more meaningful life. From God to Jerry to You – Divine messages and breakthroughs for seekers. Two Philosophers Wrestle With God – A dialogue on God, truth, and reason.Jerry & Abigail: An Intimate Dialogue – Love, faith, and divine presence in partnership. What's Your Spiritual Story – Real stories of people changed by encounters with God.What's On Our Mind – Reflections from Jerry and Scott on recent episodes. What's On Your Mind – Listener questions, divine answers, and open dialogue. Stay ConnectedShare your thoughts or questions at questions@godandautobiography.com

Episode 156 Pam Conyers  In one of the oldest cases covered by DNA: ID, in 1970, 16 year old Pam Conyers vanished after an evening trip to the Harundale Mall in Ann Arundel County, MD.  There was no question that Pam had run away, and police immediately began a search for the teen.  Two days after she left the mall with her purchase, her car was found hidden in brush in a wooded median of a new highway that was being constructed, not far from her home.  Soon, her body was found nearby.  Pam had been raped and murdered, and dumped in the woods not far from the construction site.  Clues discovered at her autopsy and in her car led police to theorize that there were two perpetrators.  Whoever they were, they eluded investigators for decades.  Finally, when the Parabon genealogist used IGG, she was able to identify a suspect.  And then the FBI stepped in an identified another.    To listen to every episode of DNA: ID ad-free and get other benefits, simply  visit our channel page on Apple Podcasts to get started with an AbJack Insider subscription. Tom and Amy Johnson are turning a years-long dream into B-Side the Tracks Brewing Company in Conyers, GA. Amy, a 30-year finance pro turned American Brewers Guild grad, will helm the brewhouse. Tom will run front-of-house and a small distillery (bourbon, whiskey, vodka; rum later). Their vision is a true “third place” with standout hospitality, pizza from a 700° rotating oven, smart limited specials, weekend brunch, and education-forward beer & spirits pairings. The path wasn't linear: failed financing, lost earnest money, an architect/GC reset, a surprise ~$42k water fee, and an 18-month slog to close on their historic railroad-side building. Permits landed late May, renovation began in June, target opening is October. Equipment is en route, community excitement is real, and their service-first mindset (“welcome home”) is the throughline.8–10 Takeaways Hospitality > Hype: They're building a neighborhood “third space” where regulars feel known. Service is the differentiator, not bells & whistles. Beer + Spirits, thoughtfully: Six house beers on 12 taps, a 1-bbl pilot for experiments (first up: a peach wheat), and a micro-distillery launching with three core spirits. Education matters: Tasting flights, three-course pairings (beer and spirits), and “why you like what you like” guidance to win over the “I don't like beer” crowd. Menu discipline: 700° oven, ~90-second pizzas, tight rotating specials, and brunch on weekends, quality over quantity to control COGS and execution. Perseverance playbook: Multiple failed loans, lost deposits, a full architect/GC change, and a late surprise water impact fee, yet they kept going. Community roots: Name and location honor Conyers' rail history. Goal is a Cheers-style welcome: “Welcome home, we're glad you're here.” Real operator chops: Amy's ABG training (and engineering-heavy exams) plus Tom's FOH leadership and distilling background from UVM/Colorado Boy. Own the asset: They bought the historic building; renovations started June after permits cleared in late May. Right partners: POS via GoTab for responsive support and fit; local construction management to keep it community-driven. Target timeline: Brewing kit is on the water (ETA late September); opening aimed for October (Oktoberfest whenever the doors open).

Dolly Parton BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Dolly Parton has dominated headlines and social media this week with a whirlwind of business moves, heartfelt reflections, and high-wattage showbiz spectacle. On August 20th, Dolly announced a pivotal leadership shift for her business and philanthropic empire, naming Jeff Conyers, already president of The Dollywood Foundation, as her new senior business representative for all things Dollywood and charity while longtime advisor Ted Miller prepares to retire at year's end. According to PR Newswire, Dolly praised Conyers' deep understanding of her values and made it clear she's securing her vision and legacy for decades to come.Turning from business to pure pleasure, the entertainment world lit up with news that Dolly will return for her first major Las Vegas residency in 32 years. AOL and IMDB both report that Dolly: Live in Las Vegas will bring six shows to Caesars Palace this December, promising hits from “Jolene” to “I Will Always Love You” and VIP packages that have fans scrambling. Parton says she's “excited” to hit the Vegas stage again, with these appearances coinciding with both the National Finals Rodeo and a recent period of personal reflection since the passing of her husband Carl Dean. Yet, true to Dolly form, she has numerous other creative irons in the fire—her musical memoir, Dolly: A True Original Musical, recently opened in Nashville with Broadway in its sights, while Threads: My Songs in Symphony is touring symphony halls across America.Business headlines have been almost as glittering as the residency news. On August 21, according to Real Country 103.5, Dolly herself unveiled an exclusive new Coca-Cola flavor, 40th Pop Fizz, celebrating Dollywood's upcoming 40th anniversary, available only within her Pigeon Forge theme park. Taste tests have been mixed, but no one doubts Dolly's star power will make the limited-edition soda a cult item. IMDB and Country Music Alley summarize her business acumen—her catalog of over 3,000 songs is reportedly worth $150 million, and her ventures span from Dollywood to hotels and fragrance lines, keeping her net worth at an eye-popping $650 million for 2025.On the personal side, Dolly's recent appearance on Khloe Kardashian's podcast drew social buzz as she candidly shared her reasons for taking a step back from the relentless pace of music to focus on legacy and family. Coverage from AOL singled out her vulnerability and wisdom—a theme echoed in her written reflections this week on love, loss, and resilience following her husband's passing, as reported by Death With Dignity. All eyes are on Dolly's next move, whether it's a Vegas headliner or a philanthropic masterstroke, and every note and business deal only cements her place at the center of American cultural life.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOta

I would like to see Texas become the center of the universe for bitcoin and crypto,” US Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said in 2021. In 2024, Republican Governor Greg Abbott said Texas “wears the crown as the bitcoin mining capital of the world.” But in small towns like Granbury, TX, about an hour southwest of Fort Worth, residents are the ones paying the price for Texas' crypto boom. Granbury's 300-megawatt bitcoin mine, which is owned by Marathon Digital, a Florida-based cryptocurrency company, uses a mix of liquid immersion and industrial fans to prevent over 20,000 computers from overheating. Many residents say that it's the constant sound from those fans that has made life increasingly unbearable in their small town—and that their concerns are going ignored by the company and government officials. In this episode of Working People, we speak with four residents of Granbury living near the Marathon bitcoin mine: Danny Lakey, Karen Pearson, Nick Browning, and Virginia Browning.
