Send us a textROBERT SCHREINER is the author of The Wolves and the Greyhounds, a military thriller/historical fiction novel set in the early months of the First World War.The novel is based on extraordinary actual events. In August 1914, as war was declared, an entire fleet of German warships stealthily eluded an Allied blockade, slipped out into the Pacific Ocean, and disappeared. The possibility that the elusive German fleet might suddenly appear on any horizon paralyzed the British Empire and set in motion a frantic search for the enemy warships. The book follows two naval captains - one British, one German - as their fates are inexorably drawn together. In this epic wartime adventure, bold gambles and tragic miscalculations pull these two captains, their ships, and their rival empires into a desperate clash, culminating in the most decisive naval battles of the war.Robert is a former CIA Intelligence Officer who works as a consultant and executive in the global private security industry. He is an avid amateur military historian who has traveled the world, routinely sneaking in side-trips to visit ancient fortifications and battlefields. He lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Tennessee with his wife, two spoiled cocker spaniels, and an amusingly musical cockatiel.Find out more information about him and his books at: https://www.robertschreiner.com/******If you would like to contact the show about being a guest, please email us at Dauna@bettertopodcast.comFollow us on Social MediaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/author_d.m.needom/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bettertopodcastwithdmneedomAudio production by Rich Zei of Third Ear AudioIntro and Outro music compliments of Fast Suzi©2025 Better To...Podcast with D. The good news of Jesus includes his life, death, resurrection, and future return—but what about his ascension? Though often neglected or misunderstood, the ascension is integral to the gospel. In The Ascension of Christ: Recovering a Neglected Doctrine (Lexham Press), Patrick Schreiner argues that Jesus' work would be incomplete without his ascent to God's right hand. Not only a key moment in the gospel story, Jesus' ascension was necessary for his present ministry in and through the church. Schreiner argues that Jesus' residence in heaven marks a turning point in his three-fold offices of prophet, priest, and king. As prophet, Jesus builds the church and its witness. As priest, he intercedes before the Father. As king, he rules over all. A full appreciation of the ascension is essential for understanding the Bible, Christian doctrine, and Christ's ongoing work in the world. Dr. Patrick Schreiner is Associate Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is the author of The Kingdom of God and the Glory of the Cross and Matthew, Disciple and Scribe. Mars just dropped some major beach vibes—literally! New data from China's Zhurong rover showed rock formations that look just like Earth's coastal beaches. Scientists found layers of sloping sediment, the kind shaped by waves, not wind or volcanoes. That means Mars likely had a massive body of water with actual tides and shorelines billions of years ago. This discovery gives serious weight to the idea that Mars once had conditions perfect for life. Imagine sunny Martian beaches—no sunscreen needed, just a spacesuit!
A realistic and encouraging episode. If we seek peace alone, we will never find it, because only Christ is the Prince of Peace. After keeping fans waiting for more than a year, the American Southwest Conference finally had something to say about its membership situation, and it did so with a bang, swiping two teams from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to shore up its membership and bring it back to six for the fall of 2026. Who does that affect? It affects the SCAC folks, who were on the way to getting an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs, and we'll hear more about the reaction of the conference when we sit down with conference commissioner Dwayne Hanberry on this edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast. Plus ... This edition of the podcast is sponsored by GameStrat: The Most Reliable & Fastest In-Game Video Replay System on The Market. D-III football coaches should click here to learn more. Plus, the two schools that are going back to the ASC are doing so, apparently $4 million richer apiece. But for Schreiner, this represents a big leap up in competition for a program which hasn't even played a game yet! Schreiner isn't set to play a varsity game until 2026, but the Mountaineers' timeline just got altered a bit. We talk with Schreiner's head coach -- Keith Allen, the second coach in this young program's history -- about how that changes things for him, one month into his tenure. And more change in Division III this upcoming season includes, of course, the fact that there won't be nearly as many fifth-year players. That's the case all over now that the extra year of eligibility because of the COVID pandemic has largely worked its way through the system. At Coe, they'll feel the loss of two seniors classes at once, and coach Tyler Staker tells us how they'll adjust and what's expected of the student-athletes who need to step up in 2025. A lot of news happened in the past month aside from the ASC/SCAC as well, and we'll talk through it all, including the upcoming NESCAC presidents' meeting, the new Cortland coach, our soon-to-become Division III schools in Azusa Pacific and St. Francis (Pa.), and which one of those said it will dominate Division III. Plus, with two brand-new football programs coming online in the Conference of New England in the fall, where would the CONE likely rank? Stat of the Week in March? Conference rankings in March? Patrick and Greg cover it all in the latest edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation podcast.

Tom Schreiner discusses what Christ accomplished on the cross, including justification, sanctification, redemption, salvation, reconciliation, and adoption. Tom emphasizes that these blessings are not based on our own merit, but on Christ's work - we are "justified by faith" and Christ's righteousness is "imputed" to us. Schreiner also addresses the tension between being simultaneously justified yet still struggling with sin as believers.
