What does it mean to grow up? It seems that the writer of Hebrews has some frustrations with this community around the fact that they haven't really matured or grown spiritually. Why is that? Whats going on here? And what does it mean for us to grow in spiritual maturity? In this message Pastor Chris explores the nature of Spiritual Maturity and a key component to our growth that is so easy to miss.
People can be complicated—but wisdom doesn't have to be. In this message, Pastor Lindsay Rangel breaks down how-to "people" well without losing your mind. You'll learn the three types of people the Bible warns about—wise, foolish, and straight-up harmful—and how to recognize those patterns in others and yourself. Spoiler: this message isn't about fixing everyone else. It's about becoming the kind of person others feel safe around. If you've ever struggled with boundaries, fake friends, or feedback you didn't want to hear—this one's for you. One question might change your life:

“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” —Colossians 2:8While under house arrest, the apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, writes a letter to the growing church in Colossae. A church that knew Jesus but needed to be reminded of the truth. It's the truth still needed today. The truth of the gospel is that salvation comes through Jesus alone, and once we receive salvation, we are called to live in a manner worthy of the One who saved us.

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to Terry White from Dodge City, KS. Thank you for partnering with us through Project23. You're helping others find rest in Christ and strength in His Word. This one's for you. Our text today is Mark 6:30-34: The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves. Now many saw them going and recognized them, and they ran there on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things. — Mark 6:30-34 The disciples return from their first mission trip—tired, drained, and hungry. They've been pouring themselves out in ministry. And Jesus sees it. “Come away by yourselves… and rest a while.” This is the heart of Jesus. He doesn't just care about the mission—he realizes they are the mission. He invites them to recover, to respire, to rest. But before they get to their quiet place, the crowd shows up. Not a few people—thousands. Uninvited. Unexpected. Undeterred. And Jesus? He sees the crowd. He knows what it'll cost. But he doesn't send them away. Looking past the obligation, he sees who they are: "sheep without a shepherd." Therefore, he teaches them. He puts down his plan and picks up their burden. Because with Jesus, compassion always overrides convenience. Recognize that Jesus and the disciples were tired. But compassion made space for the crowd. That's not soft leadership—it's spiritual maturity. And it's the kind of heart Jesus is forming in us. Let's be honest—most of us guard our convenience with everything we've got. We guard our calendars, our boundaries, our margin, and our entertainment. But sometimes the Spirit brings the “crowd” to the shore of your day. And the question is—will you see them as a problem or a person? Will you protect your comfort, or extend compassion? Compassion will cost you something. It always does. But it's how we love like Jesus. It's how we lead like Jesus. It's how we point people to Jesus. So today—who's the crowd in front of you? Stop seeing your colleagues, children, and spouse as an inconvenience. See them as an opportunity to soften your heart and have a heart of compassion like Jesus. ASK THIS: Why do you think Jesus invited the disciples to rest but still made room for the crowd? How did He balance compassion with leadership? Where are you tempted to protect convenience over showing compassion? What would it look like to allow compassion to override your plans this week? DO THIS: Think of one time recently when convenience won over compassion. Ask Jesus for the grace to make space—and love like He does next time. PRAY THIS: Jesus, give me your eyes to see people—especially when it's inconvenient. Teach me to love like you, even when I'm tired, interrupted, or busy. Amen. PLAY THIS: "God of Justice" by Tim Hughes.

In this opening message of Summer of Change, Pastor Ken Senchal unpacks why lasting spiritual transformation requires more than good intentions. It takes humility. It takes desire. It takes surrender. What areas of your life is Jesus asking to transform? This week, you'll be invited to: Recognize the roadblocks that keep you from change—like pride and spiritual apathy Understand the difference between religious activity and true discipleship Embrace Jesus' call to “Follow Me… and I will make you fishers of men” If you've been feeling stuck or spiritually stale, this message is your invitation to step into a season of genuine growth. It's time to move beyond surface change and let the Holy Spirit do deep work.
You've been taught that spiritual maturity looks like control. Stoicism. Discipline. Measured responses. But what if that's not maturity at all—just emotional suppression dressed in a Bible verse? This week on Win Today, Zach Meerkreebs, known for his role in the Asbury Outpouring, joins me to dismantle the cultural scorecard we've built around spiritual growth. We're talking about the false belief that spiritual people don't struggle. That leaders don't wrestle with anxiety. That if you're in pain, you're just not “surrendered” enough. In this message on Psalm 37, RUF Campus Minister at UCF Hardy Reynolds encourages listeners to take the long view of life and faith. Preaching to a world where evil often appears to prosper, Hardy unpacks David's wisdom for living with patience, trust, and hope. Rather than reacting with envy or fear, believers are called to “trust in the Lord and do good,” knowing that God will ultimately uphold the righteous and bring justice in His time.Through vibrant illustrations and pastoral clarity, Hardy explores the Psalm's repeated contrasts between the wicked and the righteous—not to stoke pride, but to deepen our confidence in God's promises. This sermon is a call to live faithfully and quietly before the Lord, delighting in Him, waiting patiently, and refusing the anxiety that comes from trying to control the world.

No Other Name | Week 2 | Ef Salcedo--In this week's lesson, Paul continues his emphasis on Jesus' deity and humanity, stressing his own willingness to suffer as Christ did so that the Colossians could experience the full impact of the good news regarding Jesus. For Paul, Jesus was the Son of God in human form, and this difficult to believe reality was the key to their ongoing transformation into His likeness.

PODCAST INTRO: In the face of life's most challenging storms, it's often the faith journeys of resilience that inspire us to keep moving forward. Leslie Brennan's journey, as shared on this podcast episode, paints a vivid picture of how faith in the God of the Holy Bible, His grace, and our perseverance/our faith can transform even the darkest moments into a testament of hope and healing. A faith journey that transformed Leslie's heart, her perspective and her future as she transitioned from, “Why God!” to “How can You use this God?” Embracing the Unexpected Leslie's story begins with the revelation of her husband's drug addiction, a discovery that initially left her questioning her own role in the unfolding chaos. The initial blame, filtered through past trauma, led her to believe she was somehow responsible for the turmoil. However, it was through this painful revelation that Leslie began to see the bigger picture: a journey of faith that would lead her from self-blame to a deeper understanding of God's purpose and His extravagant love. A Journey of Faith and Healing Leslie emphasizes the importance of not abandoning faith, even when life's challenges seem insurmountable. Her husband's addiction, his process to overcome his addiction…and later, separate from any addiction issues, his motorcycle accident that resulted in the loss of his leg, these were pivotal moments that tested their marriage and her faith. Then two years after the motorcycle accident her husband suffers a debilitating stroke brought on by an undetected fragmented bone that prohibited blood flow. Yet, it was through these trials that Leslie witnessed what she describes as "God's extravagant grace." The Power of Vulnerability and Sharing One of the most powerful aspects of Leslie's story is her willingness to be vulnerable and share her journey with others and her story serves as a reminder that our past mistakes and current struggles do not define us; rather, they become a part of the larger narrative of redemption and grace as God brings us inner healing, clarity and purpose to our lives. A Testament to God's Grace Despite the challenges and heartaches, Leslie has emerged with a stronger faith and a renewed sense of identity. Her journey from questioning "why" to embracing "how" God will use her experiences for good exemplifies a profound shift in perspective that many of us strive for. As she continues to navigate life's uncertainties, Leslie's faith remains her anchor. Her story encourages us all to seek God's presence in our own trials and trust that He is writing an overarching love story with us, one of redemption, healing, purpose and hope. In sharing her journey, Leslie invites us to reflect on our own lives and consider how we can find grace and strength in the midst of our personal storms. Listen in and discover Leslies' message that God uses every painful moment because no matter how dark the night, in God's hands there's always a breakthrough—a new beginning filled with the promise of God's unwavering love and grace. The relationship between faith, love, and hope forms a powerful framework for Christian living, as revealed in Colossians. True godly love can only emerge from genuine faith, distinguishing itself from shallow, conditional human love. This faith-based love transforms relationships and situations with divine purpose and depth. Christian hope stands uniquely secured in heaven, providing stability regardless of worldly circumstances such as economic uncertainty or political turmoil.Spiritual growth requires dedicated knowledge of God's Word and will, achieved through regular Bible study, sound theological understanding, and the ability to discern truth from false teaching. While Christianity doesn't promise a pain-free existence, it equips believers with strength to endure difficulties, hope during trials, and power through the Holy Spirit. This combination of faith, knowledge, and hope enables Christians to maintain an eternal perspective during temporary struggles, serving as a powerful testimony to others.Support the show

Today, we're discussing the recent controversy surrounding Shiloh Hendrix, who called a black child a racial slur at a playground instead of taking the concern to the child's parents. This behavior is not only unacceptable—it's unchristian. As followers of Christ, we are called to be above reproach (1 Timothy 3:2), especially when dealing with the next generation. God will not judge us by our skin color, so why are we so quick to judge others by theirs? We can simultaneously be aware of the statistics about certain cultures within particular races, and realize that this is not how we handle those problems. We'll explore the biblical approach to conflict resolution. When there's a problem with a child's behavior, the godly route is to speak directly with their parents—not to attack the child. Christians must hold one another accountable. --https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee
