We are super excited to present this episode on one of the most enduring and memorable romantic comedies of Tamil cinema. 15 years ago, a then little film called Kanda Naal Mudhal released and surprised everyone in the best way possible. Directed by debutante V. Priya, produced by Prakash Raj and starring Prasanna, Laila, Lakshmi, Revathy, Karthik Kumar, Regina Cassandra (also making her debut), the film had a great team of technicians as well - Thotta Tharani, Sreekar Prasad, PC Sreeram and one of the best music and background score by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is still considered to be everyone's favorite romcoms and, as we found out, has aged beautifully. Deepauk and Aditya speak to the two debutantes from the film - director V. Priya and actress Regina Cassandra as they take a trip down memory lane to talk about the making of the film, how the team came about, the scripting and production experiences, what the actors added to the film and the post release word of mouth that helped the film a great deal and continues to entertain 15 years later. Who killed Rajan? Antha Naal(1954), Starring Chevalier Shivaji Ganesan is a Tamil classic Murder-mystery movie known for its out of the box narrative style even today. Though this one is famous among the movie-buffs, I felt this one should be noticed and celebrated by today's movie geeks. This masterpiece is worth the hype I am producing here. Two of us take a walk down memory lane with author, filmmaker, and film studies professor Dr. Swarnavel Easwaran to discuss AVM Productions' cult hit Antha Naal. Featuring (then) rising star Sivaji Ganesan, Pandari Bai, and screenwriter Javert Seetharaman in a crucial role. Dr.Swarnavel's book Madras Studios is a great primer of the studio system that existed in Thamizh cinema at the time and his film Kattumaram starring Mysskin is in the festival circuit garnering acclaim. His article on the cinematography and poetics of 1950s Tamil cinema (in particular Maruti Rao the cinematographer for Antha Naal) resulted in a shot from Antha Naal gracing the cover of Screen - one of the foremost film studies journals in the world.
