Summary When frontline technology misses the mark, workers don't fail. They adapt. But those workarounds come at a cost. In this episode, Justin talks with Maria Feay, a healthcare operations executive with over 30 years of experience spanning operations, quality, data analytics, and customer experience. Maria unpacks the real operational fallout of poor technology adoption: the widening gap between strategy and execution, the dangers of "everyone owns it, so no one owns it," and what it actually takes to move from compliance to true accountability. They also dig into the often-overlooked power of quality roles inside operations, why workforce enablement looks fundamentally different from traditional training, and how tools like speech analytics and AI are helping organizations surface risk before it becomes a crisis. If your org keeps running the same project plan and getting the same results, this one is for you. Do you ever feel that tension between wanting to help your kids… and knowing you probably shouldn't step in so fast?Because if we're honest, it's almost always easier and quicker to just do it ourselves. Open the bottle. Fill out the form. Solve the problem. But what if that instinct is exactly what's holding our kids back?In this episode, I'm talking with Amy Carney about what it really takes to raise kids who are ready for the real world. Not just capable on paper, but confident, resilient, and able to handle life when things don't go smoothly. This is part two of our conversation, and we're digging into the everyday moments that actually shape independent kids. (Here's part 1 if you missed it.)Here's what we cover:Why so many young adults struggle with basic problem-solving (and what parents are unintentionally doing that contributes to it)The surprising power of letting kids struggle instead of stepping inHow to create family fun that actually works, even with teens who “don't want to” participateThe mindset shift from doing things for your kids to mentoring them through lifeReal-life examples of skills that fall through the cracks (even in great homes)Why “easier and quicker” should be your red flag as a parentPractical ways to start handing over responsibility, one small step at a timeIf you've ever wondered how to raise kids who can actually handle adulthood, this conversation will both challenge and encourage you in the best way.Resources We Mention for Raising Independent KidsGet those kids some life skills at #LifeSkillsNow summer camp!Letting toddlers help in the kitchenMy interview with Jessica Lahey on letting kids failAmy's viral post on 8 things you should stop doing for your kidsGet your kids REAL skills for real life - register for #LifeSkillsNow!Kitchen StewardshipRaising Healthy Families follow Katie on Instagram or FacebookSubscribe to the newsletter to get weekly updatesYouTube shorts channel for HPHFind the Healthy Parenting Handbook at raisinghealthyfamilies.com/podcastAffiliate links used here. When your partner is hurting, what is your immediate instinct? For most of us, it's to grab a toolbox. We want to solve the problem, clear up the misunderstanding, or offer the perfectly logical explanation that will make the pain go away. But what if the urge to fix the problem is actually just a disguised attempt to escape our own discomfort? If you've been listening this season, you know Mike usually defaults to logic and defense mechanisms when things get tense. Today, we look directly at what happens in the split-second after a trigger. Mike admits that his absolute first instinct when Rachel is upset is to justify and explain, noting that if he can do so successfully, he can stay out of the agonizing feeling of being a failure. By helping Mike slow down and sit in the physical tension of that fear, he is finally able to tell Rachel the truth: he isn't pushing her away; he is pushing away the pain he doesn't want to face. It's an honest look at how our protections often create the exact disconnection we are trying to avoid, and Rachel finds a lot of relief in finally hearing his authentic self. Today, Jay Shetty welcomes back Esther Perel to unpack a growing tension in modern relationships: in a world more connected than ever, why so many people feel deeply disconnected. Esther reframes dating struggles as something deeper than love itself, pointing to a broader loss of real-life social practice. Without the everyday interactions that once taught us how to approach, connect, and handle rejection, dating now feels like a high-stakes performance instead of a natural progression. What was once built through play, curiosity, and gradual connection has been compressed into a single moment of pressure, turning love into something overwhelming rather than something we can explore. Jay and Esther explore the illusion of connection in the digital age, where texting replaces talking and screens replace presence. Esther explains how this disembodied way of relating strips away the elements that create real intimacy, like eye contact, tone of voice, touch, and shared energy. While it can feel like we are communicating more, we are often losing depth, nuance, and emotional resonance. This shift has shaped a culture that avoids friction and discomfort, yet still feels more anxious, lonely, and exhausted. In trying to make relationships easier and more efficient, we may be losing the very experiences that give them meaning. In this episode you'll learn: How to Build Real Connection Offline How to Turn Dating Into Discovery, Not Pressure How to Be More Curious Instead of Judgmental How to Create Attraction Through Presence Not Perfection How to Ask for What You Truly Need How to Build Trust in Small, Consistent Moments How to Balance Independence and Interdependence How to Stay Open to Love Without a Checklist If there’s one thing to hold onto, it’s this: nothing about love is broken, you’re just being asked to approach it differently. The world may have made connection feel more complicated, but at its core, it still comes back to showing up, being present, and allowing yourself to be seen without needing to get everything right. Technicians don't lose the call because of price. They lose it because they solve too fast. In this episode of Windshield Time, Chris Elmore and Brandon Cockrell break down why techs jump straight to the fix — and why that instinct backfires with homeowners. When you skip LEAP (Listen, Empathize, Ask Questions, Problem Solve), you end up negotiating, apologizing, discounting… and sometimes even offending the customer. Chris shares the story of getting thrown out of a house for offering financing too quickly — and how to avoid the same mistake. You'll learn: Why "pushing the fix" sounds like begging How LEAP keeps you on the same side of the table The locomotive analogy: your customer hasn't left the station yet Why offering financing too early can blow up in your face How cognitive biases shape every objection How to diagnose people the same way you diagnose systems How to lower the customer's wall instead of trying to remove it This is the communication playbook every technician needs. Slow down, LEAP first, and watch your close rate go up.
You keep doing the same thing with food over and over. And you can't figure out why. Here's what's happening: there are hidden obstacles between you and healthy eating. You just can't see them yet. Because we're not trained to look for obstacles - we just blame ourselves instead. And that's not fair. In this episode, I teach you how to spot the hidden obstacles that keep tripping you up with food. I'll show you why forcing yourself doesn't work and give you the exact questions to ask so you can problem-solve instead of self-blame. Perfect for you if you keep repeating the same eating patterns or you're exhausted from trying so hard without seeing results.

Narcissists will accuse people of doing EXACTLY what they are doing. If you see a problem and want to make an accurate diagnostic, they will accuse you of complaining. This happened to me, recently. In this episode, I share how I handled the situation, the logic and techniques I used, so you might be able to use them too, if it is safe for you to use them. And, in all cases, this will make it harder for you to be gaslit into believing that you're complaining when you're actually trying to solve situations.

Hello to you listening in Union County, Ohio!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Oftentimes we're stuck solving a problem because we just don't know where to begin. I have an idea. 4 problem-solving words: Result + Reach + Resistance + Resources.Result: Start at the end of the story. What result do you want to get by solving this problem? What's the goal here?Reach: What are you reaching for that solving this problem will get you? What's beyond the problem?Resistance: How are you standing in your own way? What is holding you back from solving the problem? Resources: Start by being your own best resource. Then ask who and what other resources you can draw on to help you solve the problem. Practical Tip: When you start doubting yourself, remember how far you've come. Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome. Now, put those 4 problem-solving words to use and solve what's in front of you. Beyond the Sessions is answering YOUR parenting questions! In this episode, Dr. Rebecca Hershberg, Dr. Emily Upshur, and I talk about... 2:55 - Raising our own tolerance to the discomfort of our partner being "less effective" than we know we could be with our children. 5:55 - Ask yourself: "What if I am actually NOT the only expert on my child and what my partner is giving her is actually what she needs." 6:47 - Can you physically remove yourself (just in the short term) to allow your partner and child to adjust without you becoming triggered? 9:52 - What is the threshold for when you do want to step in and "rescue"? 12:24 - When we always rescue, we may inadvertently communicate to our child (and our partner!) that they aren't capable of parenting properly. ✨We want to hear from you! Go to https://drsarahbren.com/question to send us a question or a topic you want to hear us answer on Securely Attached - Beyond the Sessions! ✨

Alexandra Stockwell, MD, is joined by her husband Dr. Rodd Stockwell, to unpack the art of problem-solving in marriage. They stress the importance of clearly identifying the type of conversation you're having, whether it's venting, seeking emotional support, problem-solving, or something else. You need to know which kind of communication you need, and which kind of communication your spouse needs. When there's a problem, before diving into practical solutions, it's essential to address any emotional baggage first. Visualize yourselves sitting side by side, collaborating on the problem at hand, without disrespect or opposition. When the emotional air is cleared, real solutions arise so don't hesitate to take detours when unexpected emotional issues present. Also in this episode: Communication Types: Understand that there are different types of communication, such as venting, making requests, problem-solving, vulnerable communication, and more. Setting The Stage: Before diving into problem-solving, ensure that both partners are on the same page about the type of conversation they are having. Emotional Alignment: Make sure both partners feel heard, seen, and emotionally aligned on the issue before moving on to practical problem-solving. Teamwork: Approach problem-solving as a team, sitting on the same side of the table, so to speak. Avoid making it about one person being right or wrong. Efficient Problem-Solving: If emotions or conflicts arise during the process, address them first, and then return to the problem-solving discussion. Building Connection: Successful problem-solving enhances connection and intimacy in the relationship, leading to more efficient and harmonious interactions in daily life.
