(00:00-26:29) – Query & Company opens a Monday morning with Jake Query and producer Eddie Garrison celebrating the start of the new timeslot for the show! They discuss the New York Knicks winning the NBA Finals on Saturday and why it should provide optimism for the Indiana Pacers. (26:29-41:03) – Former Dreyer & Reinbold IndyCar driver, Sage Karam, joins Jake Query to remember Dennis Reinbold following his passing over the weekend. Sage considered him as a second father in his life because of the things that he did for Sage in his driving career. They also discuss how cool it would be if he could run the Indy 500 next year in his honor because of the belief that he had in Karam as a driver. (41:03-47:38) – Jake Query concludes the first hour of the show by asking Eddie as to how he’s feeling so far about the show time change. Plus, Jake teases something that Stephanie White had to say following Saturday’s win over the Connecticut Sun. (47:38-1:14:14) – Hour number two of Query & Company starts with Jake Query further discussing all of the “reports” and microanalysis that goes on with Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White. Following Saturday’s win, Indiana’s head coach questioned what today’s journalism is about. Jake reacts and weighs in on the issue. Finally, he talks briefly about the NBA Finals. (1:10:32-1:32:55) – The IndyStar’s Dustin Dopirak joins Query & Company to evaluate what the Indiana Pacers could do this off-season to add the final piece to the roster in attempt to win the NBA Finals. Does it make sense for the Pacers to trade for Trey Murphy III? Will they trade back into the second-round of the NBA Draft? Should the Knicks winning the NBA Finals provide optimism for the Pacers? (1:32:55-1:38:56) – Hour number two of Query & Company concludes with Jake explaining how the clock is ticking for him even more after attending a wedding reception for Amp Harris on Friday night. (1:38:56-2:05:54) – The Dean, Mike Chappell, from FOX59 & CBS4 joins the show to discuss how much optimism he has in whether the Indianapolis Colts can re-capture their success from the first eight weeks of last season. Jake asks Mike as to what his biggest questions are heading into training camp and if the timeline for Alec Pierce’s recovery from his ankle surgery caught him off guard. Finally, they dive into whether the Colts could put themselves in a predicament if Anthony Richardson performs well in the pre-season. (2:05:54-2:19:54) – With the FIFA World Cup taking place across the United States, Jake has started to see a lot of similar phrased tweets from people sharing their experiences at various restaurants or places to eat. Two tweets stood out because they made stops in Indiana. Are they real people, or are they bots? (2:19:54-2:26:08) – The show closes out with Jake and Eddie selecting a winner for today’s Dave Matthews Band ticket giveaway by reading off some of their favorite responses on the text line and previewing the rest of the day on The Fan!Support the show: https://1075thefan.com/query-and-company/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Incident: On Saturday night, a reckless motorcyclist bypassed barriers into a pedestrian festival zone. A bystander attempted to stop the driver by throwing a trash can, causing the bike to crash violently into a pop-up dining tent, sending chairs flying and patrons scrambling. The Fallout: The driver suffered minor injuries and faces multiple police summonses. While disaster was narrowly avoided, the video went viral and sparked safety alarms across the city. The Insider Perspective: We speak with Francois Karam, owner/manager of Opa Restaurant on Atwells Avenue. Karam has been a vocal opponent of the current "al fresco" street closure format, warning city officials for months that the setups pose major safety and economic risks to local businesses. This is a Vintage episode from 2007.Why This Episode MattersBefore celebrity chefs became mainstream brands, chefs like Morou Ouattara and Gavin Kaysen were navigating what television exposure actually meant for serious working chefs.Morou Ouattara discusses bringing West African flavors into contemporary American cuisine years before global pantry ingredients became common.Gavin Kaysen reflects on competing as a young chef on The Next Iron Chef and how it shaped his career. The conversation becomes an unexpectedly thoughtful discussion about chef identity, and the reality behind “celebrity chef” culture. The BanterMark Pascal and Francis Schott open the show discussing the absurdity and honesty of chef awards and Anthony Bourdain's irreverent influence on food culture. They explore the economics of Michelin-starred restaurants and why greatness may not be worth it.The ConversationsChef Morou Ouattara joins The Restaurant Guys to discuss appearing on The Next Iron Chef while already running a respected restaurant. He explains why competing against accomplished chefs felt entirely different from traditional reality television, and why staying true to his culinary identity mattered more than trying to satisfy judges. Morou also shares how his restaurant, Farrah Olivia, blended American cuisine with West African spices and flavors that television competition formats often couldn't properly showcase.Later, Gavin Kaysen discusses competing as one of the youngest chefs on the show, the camaraderie among contestants, and the strange reality of being edited for national television. The conversation expands into restaurant culture, chef professionalism, and Kaysen's then-upcoming move to New York to lead Café Boulud.Timestamps00:00 — The Golden Clog Awards, Anthony Bourdain, and Michelin-star economics06:45 — Morou Ouattara joins; competing on The Next Iron Chef10:00 — Reality Cooking Shows vs. Kitchen Life11:45 — Incorporating West African spices at Farrah Olivia15:45 — Gavin Kaysen joins; Camaraderie behind the scenes of The Next Iron Chef24:00 — Reality TV editing and food television culture27:00 — San Diego's evolving restaurant scene30:30 — Gavin Kaysen's move to Café Boulud in New YorkBioMorou Ouattara is an Ivory Coast-born chef known for blending West African flavors with contemporary American cuisine at Farrah Olivia in Alexandria, Virginia.

But a growing body of research shows that loneliness significantly impairs physical and mental health. Loneliness is linked to a 29 percent higher risk of heart disease, a 32 percent increased risk of stroke, accelerated cognitive decline, and increased mortality. Chronic, profound loneliness triggers high inflammation, weakens the immune system, and contributes to depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. Clinician researcher Alison Warren, DAOM, MSHS '17, PhD student, of the GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences, gave a wellness talk on loneliness and how it impacts your overall health–and ways to counteract it. An adjunct assistant professor in the SMHS, she specializes in the intersection of Integrative Medicine, neuroscience, and psychology. She is also an adjunct assistant professor in the Institute for Brain Health and Dementia in the GW Milken School of Public Health and an instructor with the Harvard Extension School. Dr. Warren's research, particularly in 2025-2026, focuses on loneliness as a significant, modifiable determinant of health and a driver of physiological damage. Her work explains that chronic social disconnection causes wear and tear across multiple systems, including immune, neuroendocrine, and cardiovascular systems. ◘ Related Links: Centers for Disease Control & Prevention's How Right Now (information and resources on loneliness and other emotions) https://www.cdc.gov/howrightnow/index.html; NIH Social Connection Toolkit https://www.nih.gov/health-information/your-healthiest-self-wellness-toolkits/social-wellness-toolkit; GW Resiliency & Well-being Center's resources page on loneliness https://rwc.smhs.gwu.edu/loneliness; Dr. Warren's slide presentation on loneliness https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/fdrc6v7kjua6y0j88og6j/UPDATED_Warren_GW-Resiliency-Center-Loneliness-1.pdf?rlkey=5fpz4h7naach2ss1anpxch7ea&st=k2k958gr&dl=0; Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation 2023, The U.S. Surgeon General's Advisory on the Healing Effects of Social Connection and Community https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/surgeon-general-social-connection-advisory.pdf; Warren, A. Student Success Podcast By The Continuous Learning Institute
Community colleges lose a staggering number of students before they even show up in official retention data. For this episode, I interviewed Dr. Rita Karam of RAND Corporation. She and her colleagues at RAND examined this often-overlooked group across 15 colleges in California, Texas, and Kentucky. The findings? More than 60% of students are lost between application and census date, with the majority leaving due to a mix of personal barriers and institutional processes. This episode unpacks the research and offers practical steps colleges can take to reduce these losses and re-engage students.Key FindingsEnrollment leakage is real and large: About 10–15% drop after enrolling but before census. Another ~50% are lost between application and enrollment over 60% combined loss.Institutional processes matter: Complex onboarding, unclear handoffs, and overwhelming communication push students out just as much as financial or personal challenges.Financial aid is a critical barrier: Students often don't realize aid requires a declared major or other criteria. Many are dropped when aid decisions aren't resolved in time.Students want relational, not transactional, support: They seek caring, transformative relationships with advisors, not one-off transactions.Timing is crucial: Roughly 30% of students enroll within two weeks of term start, overwhelming advisors and limiting the quality of advising.Few colleges systematically track these students: Data systems are fragmented, making it hard to identify where and why students disappear.Key Chapter Makers00:00: Introduction02:45: Why Students Leave Before Census06:20: Institutional vs. Personal Barriers11:10: The Role of Financial Aid in Early Attrition15:30: Communication Breakdowns During Onboarding20:40: Timing Matters: The First Two Weeks26:15: Tracking Students Who Disappear31:00: Effective Re-Engagement Strategies36:20: Rethinking Advising: From Transactional to Transformational41:50: Practical Steps Colleges Can Take Now47:00: Closing Thoughts & Key TakeawaysFor the full transcript and detailed show notes, including ACTION STEPS, visit the episode page.Continuous Learning Institute:A resource hub for higher education professionals to support college student success. Charbel Louis Karam didn't follow a traditional path to the dental world. A lifelong pilot with a background in aerospace manufacturing and private equity, he eventually found his way to Spectrum Killian Dental Labs, where he now serves as President and CEO, and brought a new way of thinking with him. In this episode, Charbel shares all the lessons that helped him build a dental lab that balances precision with true craftsmanship. We dig into what it takes to grow without losing the human touch, why variability can't be avoided (and how to work with it instead of against it), and what excites him most about the future of labs and patient care. This conversation is all about blending engineering, artistry, and big-picture thinking to move the dental space forward. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Subscribe & Listen: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/69Dz26hgC9D6YqwN8JMDBV Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mb2-underground/id1747349567 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow MB2 Dental on Social: MB2 Dental: mb2dental.com Instagram: instagram.com/mb2dental Facebook: facebook.com/mb2dental YouTube: youtube.com/@mb2dental LinkedIn: linkedin.com/mb2-dental
Subscribe today for access to our full catalog of bonus episodes, including 2+ new episodes every month! www.patreon.com/boysbiblestudy For the first time in the history of our podcast, we are reviewing a film in which we co-starred. This is CHI ANN BLAZE OF FURY, the brand new film by 3Angels Power, a Canadian film production company based in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. In 2019, BBS co-host Julian struck up a friendship and artistic relationship with the Karam sisters (Gladys, Mona Lisa, and Jeanne d'arc) whose films he found by accident after misspelling a search term on YouTube. He was immediately captivated by the creative writing and directing of the sisters' 2013 feature film FRANCESKA FINGER NAILZ, a 3 hour long epic about a misunderstood spirit wreaking havoc on a rural Canadian town. Julian wrote to the 3Angels, offering to film any script they sent to us with a troupe of actors. Weeks later, we had a script in hand for several scenes of a film that would become CHI ANN BLAZE OF FURY. We got about 20 of our friends together, drove to Marina del Rey and recorded a long scene on a beach in which a group of people discuss love and philosophy while fielding phone calls warning them to the existence of yet another evil spirit named Chi Ann. A long time passes and we are unsure about the status of the production; six years later, 3Angels surprise posts the film and we get to watch in its entirety. As fans and promoters of DIY filmmaking, it was so exciting to yield our will to filmmakers we admire and do whatever they asked us to do to realize their vision. 3Angels have a unique command of language and storytelling. No films look and sound like theirs. We're proud to be involved, and we hope our review inspires lovers of film to watch CHI ANN BLAZE OF FURY, subscribe to 3Angels' channel, and stay tuned to their electrifying updates.
