In this Origins minisode of Satan Is My Superhero, we plunge Ba'als deep (yeah, we went there) into the ancient world of horned gods, storm gods, and seven headed sea monsters that helped shape the modern image of Satan. Meet Ba'al Hadid the OG bringer of storms, plus other Ba'als who were demonized by the Bible's propaganda machine. We'll expose how gods like Attar (aka Venus, the Morning Star) and Lotan (the Leviathan's cousin) got turned from local heroes into poster boys for Satanic evil.Learn how ancient deities of Mesopotamia, Phoenicia, and Canaan were rebranded as demons by Judaism and Christianity, all in the service of religious mind control. We're talking horns, cloven hooves, bull headdresses, tridents, cow sex scandals (sorry Daisy), and the original war for your soul. Expect a fast-paced blend of real history, mythology, and dark comedy that shows how the Judeo-Christian devil was built from the shattered reputations of earlier gods.
Isso nunca me esqueci, nem nunca me esquecerei desses sacrifícios”, conta Manuel Boal.

What is better the normal relationships or Long-Distance Relationships? Both relationships have their positives and negatives… There is no holy grail! When I was in a long-distance relationship, I wanted more time for myself…And I had to build up my happiness by myself and became much more independent. Who cannot be alone can't be together… And this is so crucial to understand… Most couples are together because they can't live alone… What kind of relationship is that? This is not love…This is slavery.First, become your own master before you can surrender in love to somebody else.Only two independent people can love each other!!!If You are all the time together with your partner, how can you appreciate your partner? In the marketing, we lean scarcity sells the best… And so is it also with your darling… Who doesn't know separation doesn't understand love… (Attar)In our separation from our darling:We appreciate our time to be together much much more!We build up more love because we long each other to see us again… We gain more trust and faith in our partner because we don't know what our partner is doing. When we communicate over far distance, we learn intuitively what our partner needs, and this is so priceless… And we learn when to communicate… For instance: In my relationships, we had so many golden moments when we are phoning precisely to the right time… I learned to feel from the distance in which mood my darling was and when to call. https://notesonfilm1.com/2025/04/18/jose-arroyo-in-conversation-with-diego-cepeda-on-outskirts/ I recently discovered the existence of a new and exciting film magazine: OUTSKIRTS. It's in English, though mostly written by people for whom English is a second language or who don't speak English at all: translation, in multiple senses, is an integral part of the magazine. It's a handsome physical object, originating in the Locarno Critics Academy but speaking a different film culture, off-centre, from the margins or the periphery. In this podcast I talk to one of the editors, Diego Cepeda (the others are Nathan Latoré, Sofie Cato Maas, Raymond Shik and Christopher small), with filmmaker/critic Felix Cordero Bello contributing illuminating contexts and asides. Near the beginning of the podcast Diego cites a poem by Farid Ud-din Attar, ‘The birds had departed towards a distant luminosity that attracted them. Those who did not perish on the way would understand upon arrival that they had been transformed into that light that now attracted others'. OUTSKIRTS is a magazine that is itself, embodies, a romance of movies, film culture, film history, woven through with friendship. It aims to put at the centre marginalised filmmakers and film cultures; and asks its readers to slow down, look back, look deeply, and think. The launch of each issue is accompanied by live events, often including readings and screenings. Diego cites Abraham Polonsky at the end, ‘The only fights worth fighting are for lost causes'. Speaking to Diego and Felix, in English, a second language for them, a whole cinema culture comes alive. They cite LA VIDA UTIL and Lucía Salas as an inspiration: a spirit of sharing knowledge, friendship and dialogue, enthusiasm for cinema, a similar way of thinking about film history. Diego and Felix both also write for Simulacro magazine edited by Julia Scrive-Loyer (https://www.simulacromag.com/) participate in its weekly cine-club and are connected to the Chavón School of Film and Design, itself associated with Parsons, with Diego as one of its key lecturers. ‘How can we approach the history of images and sounds from a place that maybe didn't have (a film industry) but we have to create tools for understanding those elements that did exist (newsreels, home movies, a rich culture of filmgoing)', says Diego. The conversation ranges from the origins of the magazine, it's aims (to defend cinema from this place, that is on the margins), it's focus (to shine a light on the overlooked), how each issues tries to create a thread of thought. We detour through a brief account of a history of cinema in the Dominican Republic, where the conversation took place. All this and much more can be listened to in the podcast below: The new issue comes out in June and can be purchased at: https://outskirtsmag.com/

All Religions are telling us that we should omit a passionate, sexual love.Because when we are passionate we lose our calmness and can't find peace in our mind. When we live our passions, and the greatest passion is love, we lose our fears and in the end, we will find peace in our mind.If we don't live our passions, we suppress our fears and many years later the suppressed fears will cripple our life. And that result we can see in the old people. Most of the old people want to dictate our life that we should not live a passionate sexual love. Because they didn't have lived it either; cannot live it anymore; and they are jealous of the young people. In the famous novel “Siddharta” written by Herman Hesse, is a guy who had the longing to find the truth and renounced his worldly life. Siddharta could understand that renunciation will not lead to anything. Afterward, he was engaged in a passionate worldly life and when he was fed up with the worldly life he renunciate again. Again, he was drawn in a worldly life and finally he found the truth… I lived a similar life, was a devotee of Bhagwan; I found God in a tantric love and then I was 12 years in meditation retreats with celibacy… And now, I live both…The famous Sufi book: “Conference of the birds” written by Attar wants both: to renunciate the world and to live a passionate sexual life. Why? Attar was one of the greatest Sufis … he could understand that the greatest renunciation is to love a woman. For that, we should be well trained in the renunciation of the world. Otherwise, our love will be shallow and not so deep that we can discover God/Allah in our love. If you are 90 years old, do you think that you will regret that you could not live a passionate love? With 90 years you can't live that love anymore. Why not take your chance now, live your passionate sexual love and don't be afraid of the suffering…. In the end, you have done well.

People are chasing the ultimate peace and calmness… that never will happen or has happened. Because the religions know how to sell dreams and deliver B.S. like the today marketing experts. There is nothing new in this world. If we read the famous Sufi classic from Attar: The confidence of the birds, we understand much more. For the Sufis doesn't exist Nirvana, Enlightenment, Moksha and they don't care or even don't mention hell or paradise. Because for them is the goal to serve God or the people, without demanding anything. The Sufi path is a spiritual path without an end, without reaching a goal.Attar mention when we feel peace and happiness, it will end. Because everybody has inside his body “snakes and scorpions”, who can bite at every inopportune moment us and then the peace is over. How to deal with our life, our life dramas, and our negative feelings? When we suppress our negative feelings and thoughts we will get punished by severe diseases, depression or become a living cadaver. This is not the solution. If we try to live save, don't take a risk, so that we don't get any life drama. Then we are already dead. In this case get your box, lie in it and die. There is one problem we can't die, we can only give up our body and then we are spirits. As a spirit, we can only watch the world and not participate. Imagine you can only watch and not participate. Wouldn't you regret the things that you didn't have enjoyed or done or the bad things that you have done? Now, you can live your dreams later not! When we enjoy the dramas in a movie, how would it be that we enjoy our own dramas? If we are not anymore afraid of our dramas we can risk without any problem. We would be totally free and live an awesome life. We should learn during our time to enjoy our negative feelings and thoughts. Instead, we are doing everything to suppress our negativity and that never has worked out!If we want to feel happy we have also to feel our negative feelings! Our life goal should be that we can enjoy everything and that nothing is bad. Our judging makes everything worse. We should be thankful that we can live exciting dramas and that we can learn from our dramas so much. Farid al-Din ‘Attar's writings have greatly influenced Persian Sufism, but what do we know of him as a thinker? Engaging his diverse writings from poetry to stories, Cyrus Ali Zargar's Religion of Live: Sufism and Self-Transformation in the Poetic Imagination of ‘Attar (SUNY Press, 2024) captures for us some of ‘Attar's worldviews, especially as it is rooted in a Persian and Muslim historical context. The book gives us insights to ‘Attar's take on moral psychology, ethics, and intellectual debates he was responding to, such as with philosophers and legal scholars. Zargar captures ‘Attar's religion of love, which takes us to the edge of infidelity and at times even crosses its threshold only to better understand the experience of union with the Beloved (Divine) that mystics have discussed across traditions. Whispers of the Flight, A Voyage to Cosmic Unity by INAM M. INAMULLAH Amazon.com/dp/B0DB3TLY43/ The book delves into a mystical journey inspired by Farid Al-Din Attar's profound wisdom (The Conference of the Birds). Through captivating narratives and profound truths, this novel invites readers into a world of spiritual discovery and self-recognition, echoing the timeless lessons of self-discovery and the transformative power of following one's dreams. Among many themes, the book offers readers The Quest for Self-Discovery, Overcoming Obstacles, Unity in Diversity, The Illusion of Materialism, and Surrendering to the Divine. It welcomes all to read and immerse in its pages to see their vision becoming their new reality. The book allows readers to unlock the hidden chambers of their soul and discover a path paved with purpose. Maiah and Zak, two young adults living in New York, decided to embark on a hiking expedition to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Maiah is a student of Sufism, while Zak is skeptical of such philosophies. They joined a diverse group of hikers from around the world with the goal of trekking the seven valleys of the Atlas Mountains, known as one of the most challenging hikes globally. Their guide was Professor Ali Ansari, a sage and academic. Throughout the journey, the group encountered numerous difficulties, often feeling unable to continue. At these moments, Professor Ansari drew on the parables and wisdom from Attar's "The Conference of the Birds" to inspire and rejuvenate the hikers. This wisdom proved effective, enabling the group to overcome each obstacle. By the end of the hike, Zak, who had initially dismissed Eastern wisdom, emerged as a transformed individual, profoundly changed by the experience. Inam, the author, was born into hardship and affected by Polio but found solace in art, turning pain into beauty. Despite numerous obstacles, he became a celebrated artist through resilience and creativity. Inam's appreciation for Sufi wisdom revealed the universe's mysteries to him. He is also a prolific poet and playwright with international acclaim. The author believes that Sufism is an advanced and more comprehensive version of manifesting self-awareness techniques. One does not need to follow a specific religion to understand and apply the methods and tools described in the book to embark on the path of Sufi personal transformation. All the methods outlined in the book are non-denominational. If you are a fan of Rumi's wisdom, you will love Whispers of the Flight. Happy reading, and may your adventure within these pages be as transformative as it is unforgettable.

Yair Attar is the Co-founder and CTO of OTORIO, a platform designed to facilitate the implementation of a comprehensive security strategy for industrial control systems and cyber-physical systems. He is a former senior officer in the Israel Defense Forces' Cyber Command who headed the military's Incident Response and Threat Hunting division to defend national mission-critical systems. With over 15 years of experience in cybersecurity, software engineering, and risk management, Yair focuses on safeguarding industrial and critical infrastructure against cyber threats. His ultimate goal is to simplify operational technology cybersecurity and provide the next generation of OT security and digital risk management solutions. In this episode… As technology continually advances, cyberthreats are becoming more and more prevalent. Cybersecurity is a critical concern for businesses and individuals alike. So, how can you remain vigilant in protecting your assets and information from cybercriminals looking to exploit vulnerabilities in your system? According to Yair Attar, control systems are among the most significant cybersecurity risks. These systems help manage critical infrastructure such as power grids, water treatment plants, and transportation systems. If these systems are compromised, it could result in significant disruption and potential danger to the public. Therefore, it is crucial to have measures in place to protect these control systems from cyberattacks. The main one he recommends is hiring a firm that offers cybersecurity solutions for industrial and critical infrastructure. Synopsis: Matti'el of Arpad turns his back on the Treaty of Katikka and allies with Sarduri II of Urartu. The usurpation of Tiglath-pileser III heralds an Assyrian resurgence and the kingdom of Arpad's destruction. “Matti'el the son of Attar-shumki (II) fomented a rebellion against Assyria and violated his loyalty oath. To the kings of Hatti and Urartu he sent hostile messages against Assyria and made the lands hostile. Sarduri of Urartu, Sulumal of Malatya and Tarhulara of Gurgum came to his aid.” – The Annals of Tiglath-pileser III Map of the Iron Age Near East: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/Map_Near_East.jpg Map of Iron Age Northern Syria: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/Map_Syria.jpg Map of Iron Age Southern Syria and Canaan: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/Map_Canaan.jpg Regional Kings List: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/C25_Kings_List.pdf Episode Images: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/C25_Images.pdf References and Further Reading: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/C25_References.pdf Please contact advertising@airwavemedia.com if you would like to advertise on this podcast. Synopsis: Emerging triumphant from civil war, Shamshi-Adad V devotes his energies to humbling Babylonia. Upon his death, his wife Shammuramat acts as regent for their son, Adad-nirari III, and both campaign across the Euphrates to confront a resurgent Arpad. Under its vigorous king Menua, Urartu begins the military conquests that would end with its regional dominance. “When Suppiluliuma, king of Kummuh, caused Adad-nirari, king of Assyria and Shammuramat, queen, to cross the Euphrates river; I smashed Attar-shumki, son of Hadram, of the city Arpad, together with eight kings, who were with him at the city Paqarhubunu, their boundary and land…In that year they put up this boundary stone between Suppiluliuma, king of Kummuh, and Halpartuntiya, son of Larama, king of Gurgum.'” – the Pazarcik Stele Map of the Iron Age Near East: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/Map_Near_East.jpg Map of Iron Age Northern Syria: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/Map_Syria.jpg Map of Iron Age Southern Syria and Canaan: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/Map_Canaan.jpg Regional Kings List: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/C22_Kings_List.pdf Episode Images: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/C22_Images.pdf References and Further Reading: https://audio.ancientworldpodcast.com/C22_References.pdf Please contact advertising@airwavemedia.com if you would like to advertise on this podcast. Marcus has a great conversation with Nelly Attar, a Lebanese national born in Saudi Arabia, who became the first Arab woman to summit K2, the world's second-highest mountain. As if that weren't enough, Nelly also successfully reached the top of Mount Everest and has scaled 14 other peaks across the world, completed 2 Ironman 70.3 races, ran 6 global marathons/ultramarathons, and has completed about 100 scuba dives in a span of four years. Nelly is also a psychologist, life-coach, and held dance-fitness classes for females in her studio - Move - Saudi Arabia's first dance studio, and one of the first studios of its kind across the Middle East. Even with such an impressive resume, Nelly states "I still don't know what I want to do in life. I'm still figuring it out." In this episode you will hear: Sports changed my life, and I strive to change the lives of many through movement and sports. In Saudi Arabia, women can drive now. 5 to 7 years ago, everything was still segregated between males and females – even in weddings. Now everything is mixed. Not long ago, women couldn't even own a gym, and it was taboo for women to train on the streets. Saudi was listed as the least active country in the world. My mindset is: if it works out – amazing. If it doesn't – come back home. I'm grateful for the kingdom and the king for all the opportunities I have today. In climbing, there's a fitness component, altitude, and weather. If it's not a challenge, then why am I there? Why would I train so hard if I knew I could do it? While climbing K2, I got a panic attack on the blue ice just a few hundred meters away from the summit. It took five weeks to climb. If there's one thing I do consistently right is that I take risks. If you're curious about something, just do it. You don't stop training because you age, you age because you stop training. Just move. You'll be helping yourself.
