Jesus Followers Need to Acknowledge the Sufficiency of Jesus, Through Praise, Irrespective of Our Trials and Problems MESSAGE SUMMARY: Some of us and some of our acquaintances have gone through horrendous circumstances. Therefore, we ask, given these circumstances, how can we rejoice in the Lord? Paul tells us, in 2 Corinthians 12:10, that Jesus Followers need to acknowledge the sufficiency of Jesus, through praise and thanksgiving, irrespective of our trials and problems: “For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.". To fulfill God's exhortation “to rejoice always”, you can rejoice “always” if you keep your eyes on Jesus. David tells us, in Psalm 30:4, to: “Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”. Paul instructs us for continuous thanksgiving in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit.".   TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, I confess that when difficulties and trials come into my life, large or small, I mostly grumble and complain. I realize the trials James talks about are not necessarily “walls,” but they are difficult to bear, nonetheless. Fill me with such a vision of a transformed life, O God, that I might actually consider it “pure joy” when you bring trials my way. I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 94). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Insensitivity. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Gentleness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). TRIAL BY RETCON. Ohhhh, sorry Captain Kirk. Turns out it's fairly common for the captain of (the) Enterprise to stand trial on the Klingon home world. Jonathan Archer did it 80 years before you were even born! Our Trials of Season Two theme month continues with this rehash of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country with some DS9 "Tribunal" thrown in for good measure as David Goodman, the President of the Writers Guild of America, jumps from sitcoms to Star Trek to co-write an episode that borrows heavily from established franchise history. Is it a winner or all too familiar? The grades begin at (19:06). Also, Bryan makes a big mistake when he references Tuvok being on the Excelsior during Star Trek VI as being in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Timeless" when we ALL know it's "Flashback."If you're enjoying the show, consider subscribing and rating us five stars on your podcast platform of choice. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Evil Ways. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Goodness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). This year's annual REVIVE Conference focuses on the theme of “Suffering & Sorrow: Trusting God in Our Trials.” The REVIVE conference is an intentional time for the whole church to apply biblical truth to a part of life. Each night we will hear from one of our elders or ministers on a different aspect of the suffering we experience. To revive means “restore, or give strength to,” and we hope that this conference will do just that for our church family as we begin this new year.

HELLO, WELCOME TO EPISODE 8 OF BEING TOUCHED BY MERCY AND LIVING ON GRACE PODCAST. I AM YOUR HOST PATRICE BUTTS AND BECAUSE OF THE RESPONSES WE RECEIVED FROM LAST WEEK'S PODCAST, I CAN OFFICIALLY SAY I NOW HAVE A CO-HOST. HEY DWAYNE.DISCLAIMER: YOU MUST BE IN A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST JESUS TO FULLY GRASP THESE TEACHING AND TO LIVE THIS KIND OF ABUNDANT LIFE!Recap: LAST WEEK WE TALKED ABOUT THE TROUBLES OF LIFE AND LEARNING TO WALK IN THEM AND NOT ALLOWING FEAR TO OVERTAKE YOU BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT HE LOVE US AND THAT HIS LOVE CONQUERS ALL. OUR FEARS, OUR TRIALS,  AND OUR PAIN.THIS WEEK'S EPISODE: Introduction: WHO ARE YOU TO GOD? A MASTER DESIGN WITH A MASTER'S PLAN!EPHESIANS 2:1010 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (NIV)10 For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (NLT)A masterpiece is precious -extremely valuable to the Artist. John 3:16 is the clear evidence of this.ROMANS 5:8 says, “But God demonstrated His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.As a Sinner, we are His Masterpiece and as a Saint, we are His Masterpiece.  Some of us needed a whole lot of help to get to this point in our lives. Here is where God says we are his workmanship (work of art, masterpiece). Workmanship-We are fearfully/wonderfully made. Fearfully in Hebrew means made with great reverence, heart-felt interest, and with respect. Wonderfully- Hebrew unique/set apart. (PS 139:14)2 Corinthians 5:2 says “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the very righteousness of God.  Now tell me if that's not Masterpiece then I do not know what is. We are Master Designs with a Master's Plan. The word Masterpiece means work done with extraordinary skill, do we understand the skillfulness of God. God is all-powerful, He can speak and nothing becomes everything. We are God's design, no one can clone you, no one can replicate you, no one can emulate you, and I know they try, but no one can genetically copy you. We are God's masterpiece. A masterpiece is described as a work that is given much critical thoughts when it is considered the greatest work of a person's career. As children of God aren't we constantly being talked about, criticized, & ostracized. Can I say I am a Master Design with a Master's Plan?“Created in Christ Jesus for good works.” The workmanship, the work of art, the masterpiece that God has been showing off in us was created in Christ Jesus. God has united us with Christ through His death, burial, and resurrection, and gave us eternal life through Him. This means our strength does not come through our willpower, but through Christ in us. As Christ lives in us, He wants to continue doing good works as He did on earth. Christ told his disciples that they would do greater works than He had done. Meaning carrying the gospel message to the utmost parts of the world. (Jn. 14:12) God has important work for each of His children to do, but it must be accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we can often guilt ourselves into thinking that we should be happy in our trials, because verses such as James 1:2-4 tell us to "consider it joy" when we encounter trials. However, what if the verse isn't telling us to fake happiness in our trials, but instead telling us to view our trials in a different way because of what they produce in us and the benefit they give us? This episode explores the practical wisdom and encouragement in James 1:2-4 that helps us get through and view differently our most difficult life circumstances. Part 1 in "Rejoicing in Our Trials" series.
