At age 22, Sydney's Bennett's brain stopped communicating with her body correctly; she was suffering from Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a condition in which the nervous system stops sending or interpreting signals the right way. Suddenly this bright, beautiful, college girl, recently married, was having seizures, numbness, difficulty moving. Soon she needed a cane, then a wheelchair. But, when we are weak, we are strong, and she found her rock in Jesus our cornerstone. Today she is a faithful and faith-filled advocate, mother of two, and (in the view of your host) present-day Job; and Job reminds us, “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Sydney's book, Fearfully and Wonderfully Broken, on Amazon, and also from the publisher, Thomas Nelson, where you can listen to the first chapter of the audio book. Complaining about our bodies or our personalities is a "Great-American-Pastime" it would seem. But the scriptures confront that habit in Psalm 139, when the psalmist declares that he is "fearfully and wonderfully made". In today's episode we'll linger in the imagery of being "knit together" in our mother's wombs. Listen in!Read Psalm 139:13-14Questions from today's episode: Linger in the beauty that God knit each one of us together in our mother's womb and is intimately acquainted with everything about us. He declares that you are fearfully and wonderfully made! As you meditate on this truth, is your loving Creator inviting you to surrender your complaint about any part of you, either a physical trait or a personality trait, and instead to praise and thank Him for making you exactly as you are? Would you invite Him to show you how He might use that trait as a blessing to others?Podcast music written and recorded by Caleb Lieurance

Emotions can be overwhelming—both for our daughters and for us as moms. From tearful meltdowns to unpredictable mood swings, it's easy to feel like big emotions threaten to take over the day. But here's the truth: feelings aren't something to fix or fear. They're invitations—opportunities to lean into God's presence, disciple with compassion, and point our girls toward steadfastness in Christ. In this episode, co-hosts Rachael Culpepper and Melissa Bearden share personal stories of their own girlhood “big emotion” moments, reminding us that as moms, we've stood where our daughters now stand. Together, they explore practical and faith-filled ways to help girls put words to their emotions, process them in healthy ways, and anchor their identity in who God says they are—not in how they feel. You'll also hear from American Heritage Girls Founder & Executive Director Emeritus Patti Garibay, who offers an actionable tool for moms: teaching your daughter to reframe “I am” statements into “I feel” statements. This simple shift can transform self-talk, strengthen identity, and remind our girls that feelings are temporary—but God's truth is eternal. Through practical steps like journaling, mealtime check-ins, and memorizing “truth anchor” verses, this episode equips you to model emotional maturity, guide your daughter with gentleness, and rest in the knowledge that God didn't call you to fix every emotion—He called you to shepherd your girl's heart toward Him. Referenced Scripture: Genesis 16:13 — God sees us in our struggles. Romans 12:2 — Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Exodus 14:13 — Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord. Psalm 139:14 — Fearfully and wonderfully made. Isaiah 43:1 — Called by name and redeemed. 1 Peter 2:9 — Chosen and belonging to God. This Week's Reminders: Feelings Are Real, But Not Always True Help your daughter name her emotions without letting them define her. Just because she feels unloved doesn't mean she is unloved. Root her identity in God's truth, not her temporary feelings. She Learns Emotional Maturity by Watching You Your example is her blueprint. When you model calm, prayerful responses and speak truth over your own emotions, you're teaching her how to navigate hers with grace and faith. God Doesn't Call You to Be Her Savior—Just Her Shepherd You're not expected to fix every meltdown. Your role is to guide her toward the One who can hold every emotion she faces. Let that truth lighten the load—you're parenting with God, not apart from Him. Explore more resources to raise girls rooted in Christ at raisinggodlygirls.com. In this episode, we're joined by Hannah Aberle, the Kids Ministry Assistant at Northview Church. She previously interned with Megan under Stephen's leadership and completed a second-year ministry internship as well. With a dual degree in early childhood education and art, Hannah brings creativity and depth to everything she does.Hannah shares openly about the pain of her parents' divorce and the difficult years that followed — including a pivotal moment when her dad didn't show up for their final meeting before she and her mom moved from Minot to Valley City. But this isn't just a story of brokenness. It's a powerful testimony of how God began to soften her heart, reshape her understanding of forgiveness, and lead her toward healing. Even when nothing else changed, forgiveness opened the door to freedom — and eventually, God began restoring her relationship with her dad. It's a vulnerable, hope-filled conversation about faith, healing, and the grace of God.Check out Hannah's handmade creations at Fearfully and Wonderfully MadeFollow her creative work @fearfullyandwonderfullymadebyhConnect with Hannah personally @han.aberle Follow Going Somewhere Podcast on InstagramAsk a Question or Suggest a Guest | goingsomewherepod.comSubscribe to us on YoutubePodcast Music: Electric Ten by Broke in SummerGoing Somewhere is a resource of Northview ChurchStephen's Instagram & Website

Today's Bible Verse: Numbers 6:24-26 –“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” ✨ Daily Meditation: This moving prayer by Amanda Idleman is a sacred reminder that every child is a gift from God, no matter the circumstances of their arrival. When Amanda and her family were called to foster a fragile newborn in the NICU, the decision was steeped in uncertainty, yet grounded in fierce faith. God answered their prayers for life and protection, showing that parenting is a holy calling and children are never a burden—they are a blessing of eternal value. Whether you're welcoming your first child, navigating the complexities of fostering or adoption, or simply praying over the next generation, this episode reminds us that God hears, responds, and walks with us in the journey of parenting.

Fearfully and wonderfully made – that is what you are. And made not just as a single, homogeneous personality – but as a system. But what is a system? How can we understand ourselves not just as a monolithic personality, not just as a unity, and not just as a multiplicity, but in terms of our inner relationships with ourselves? Join Dr. Gerry Crete, Bridget Adams, and Dr. Peter as we explore how each of us has a “kingdom within” – and how understanding that kingdom, understanding our multiplicity of our system allows us to better love God, our neighbor, and ourselves, the three loves in the two great commandments, firmly grounded in a Catholic understanding of the human person.
