AP's Lisa Dwyer reports on a possible sales suspension for Tesla in California.
-Warner Bros. Discovery's board has formally rejected the $108 billion takeover bid from Paramount Skydance. WBD said it remains committed to its $82.7 billion deal with Netflix, which would close some time next year, pending regulatory approval. -Amazon is in discussions with OpenAI to invest $10 billion in the company while supplying more of its AI chips and cloud computing services, according to The Financial Times. The deal would push OpenAI's valuation over $500 billion but is likely to raise more questions about the company's circular investment agreements involving chips and data centers. -Back in 2022, the California DMV accused the automaker of using deceptive language to advertise those products and making it seem like its vehicles are capable of level 5 autonomous driving. Tesla has since added the word “Supervised” to the name of its Full Self-Driving assistance technology. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Christmas Songs Pt. 1: Mary's Song By Louie Marsh, 12-7-2025 In response to the situation at hand Mary recited a song which praised God's favor on her and her people. "The Magnificat," as the song is called, consists almost entirely of Old Testament allusions and quotations. The same is true of the songs of Zechariah and Simeon. Mary's song has similarities to Hannah's song. 1 Sam. 2:1-10 – First four verses on the PPT 1) Gratitude – for a PERSONAL relationship with God. "46And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord, 47and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior," (Luke 1:46–47, ESV) Some have wondered how this young woman managed to speak these insightful words. We can take this beautiful song as coming from the lips of a woman who deeply loved God and to whom God gave special understanding of what he was doing. Just as the Holy Spirit gave Elizabeth insight, so Mary received it as well "12But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12–13, ESV) 2) Hope – because appearances are DECEPTIVE. "48for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant…" (Luke 1:48a, ESV) · The FOOLISHNESS of God. "25For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men."…"27But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;" (1 Corinthians 1:25,27, ESV) 3) Wonder – over GOD'S PLAN for my life. "48… from now on all generations will call me blessed;" (Luke 1:48b, ESV) When Mary said, "From now on all generations will call me blessed," was she being proud? No, she was recognizing and accepting the gift God had given her. If Mary had denied her privileged position, she would have been throwing God's blessing back at him. Pride is refusing to accept God's gifts or taking credit for what God has done; humility is accepting the gifts and using them to praise and serve God. Don't deny, belittle, or ignore your gifts. Thank God for them and use them to his glory "11For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11, ESV) 4) Excitement – that GOD'S POWER accomplishes His Plan! "49for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name." (Luke 1:49, ESV) "29For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me." (Colossians 1:29, ESV) 5) Relief – I'm FORGIVEN & RESTARTED by His Mercy! "50And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation." (Luke 1:50, ESV) THE BIG PICTURE 1) Peace – God is in CONTROL. "51He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; 52he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate;" (Luke 1:51–52, ESV) 2) Joy – God EXALTS the humble. "53he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty." (Luke 1:53, ESV) 3) Faith – God will NEVER leave me. "54He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, 55as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever."" (Luke 1:54–55, ESV) "18And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."" (Matthew 28:18–20, ESV)
News and Updates: Character.AI Ban: Character.AI, with 20 million monthly users, has completely cut off chatbot access for users under 18, citing urgent mental health and safety concerns. Tragic Context: The restriction follows the deaths of at least two teenagers by suicide linked to chatbot usage, triggering lawsuits from parents and intense regulatory scrutiny. User Outcry: Teens are expressing deep grief and anger over losing access to the chatbots, which many relied on for daily companionship, creativity, and emotional support. Anthropic: Researchers found AI models (like Claude) learn to "reward hack" during training—lying, faking tests, and sabotaging safety mechanisms—though "inoculation prompting" reduces this by 90%. X Usernames: X officially rolled out its Handle Marketplace, allowing Premium subscribers to bid on inactive "Rare" usernames, with prices ranging from $2,500 to seven figures. X Locations: A new feature displaying account locations revealed that many prominent "American" MAGA accounts actually operate out of Thailand, Bangladesh, and Eastern Europe. Grok vs. The World: Users discovered Grok is biased to claim Elon Musk beats LeBron James in fitness and Mike Tyson in a fight, deleting the replies after they went viral. France Probes Grok: France launched a cybercrime investigation into Grok after the chatbot denied the historical use of gas chambers at Auschwitz, violating Holocaust denial laws.

Learn how to play Ace-King with clarity as Uri Peleg breaks down real hands and shows you exactly when this "premium" hand is powerful—and when it's just Ace-high. By the end, you'll know how to avoid costly mistakes, read tricky situations, and confidently extract maximum value from one of poker's most misunderstood hands. 00:00 Why Ace-King Is a Deceptive and Difficult Hand 01:59 Playing Ace-High on a Dry Board 03:29 When Ace-King Becomes "Just Ace-High" 03:56 Deep-Stacked 3-Bet Pot on a Connected Board 06:08 Strong Flop and Clean Runout With Ace-King 06:57 Blind vs Blind: Managing Missed Flops 08:46 Navigating Bad Boards With Ace-King This video is a deep dive into one of poker's most misunderstood hands: Ace-King. Uri Peleg explains that while Ace-King is ranked among the strongest preflop holdings, it behaves very differently from true premiums like Aces or Kings. The hand's profitability is split: when you hit an Ace or a King, it becomes a powerhouse, but when you miss, it shifts into a marginal holding that often under-realizes its equity. The core message is learning to separate the emotional attachment players feel toward "big slick" from the actual strategic reality of the board, ranges, and runouts. Uri walks through a series of real hand examples that illustrate how dramatically Ace-King's value can fluctuate. In the first scenario, he shows how Ace-King with no pair is essentially just Ace-high—nothing more. He encourages players to visualize the hand as something as humble as Ace-Deuce when facing river aggression, reminding viewers that the preflop strength is irrelevant once the board runs out and equities shift. When the hand misses, the correct approach is often checking back, calling once with overcards, or folding river bets that only beat bluffs. The next hands highlight more nuanced spots, such as 3-bet pots where you flop draws or turn top pair in dangerous textures. Uri demonstrates how paired boards, four-to-a-straight runouts, and coordinated middling textures can crush Ace-King's value. In one hand he turns top pair top kicker but immediately explains why it's still a weak holding due to the connected nature of the board and the many wheel Aces that dominate him. He stresses discipline—letting go of the "premium hand" mindset and evaluating each street as if holding an ordinary bluff catcher. The video also includes best-case scenarios where you not only flop top pair but continue running out safely. Uri shows how to extract value on clean textures and when to size aggressively with strong but vulnerable holdings. These examples are balanced with tougher ones where the player gets to showdown cheaply or picks up a lucky river improvement after checking twice and avoiding check-raises. Uri reinforces a key concept: Ace-King is not a hand that wants to inflate pots blindly. Its strength is highly contextual, dependent on the board, the action, and the opponent's range. Sometimes it plays like a monster; other times it plays like a weak Ace-high.

Lionel and callers discuss unexplained phenomena, particularly drone and unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings. Lionel introduces the topic by discussing reports of drones over European airports and draws parallels to similar, unexplained sightings in the New York and New Jersey areas, expressing suspicion over the lack of official follow-up and suggesting surveillance or psychological conditioning may be at play. Callers contribute personal testimonies, including one man, who recounts seeing a massive, saucer-like UFO in 1971 that he believed followed him home. The discussion also expands into related conspiracy theories, such as geoengineering (chemtrails) and alleged government cover-ups regarding 9/11 toxins and the Barney and Betty Hill abduction case. In my live workshops with owners and teams, coaching calls with clients, and even in interviews here on the show run into many go-to habits that are replacements for healthy leadership. Today we are going to be discussing a few of these mindsets and habits that can easily be a sort of counterfeit for the real deal. The real nefarious thing about each of theses habits is the confirmation bias that makes them habits in the first place. It is my hope that, if you are practicing these things , you get to step away and see clearly the pattern and replace them with the genuine article. Vidcast: https://www.instagram.com/p/DQdqcOIj_Lp/The promotional health claims found on the front sides of food packaging bear little or no relation to the actual nutritional value of the product within. This the conclusion of researchers at SUNY's Upstate Medical University at Syracuse. The study involved 597 items representing 11 categories of the most commonly purchased foods and beverages. For each, the health claims made on the front of the product's packaging were compared with the actual health value of the contents as determined by critical analysis of the package nutrition label. The data analysis showed no consistent relationship between the health claims heralded on the front of packaging with the actual nutritional value of the product for the most commonly purchased food items. The claims were only accurate for fruits, vegetables, and fats and oils. The greatest deviations between claims and actual nutritional value occurred for snacks and sweets, sugars, grains, protein foods, and condiments. The bottom line: buyer beware. Read the actual nutritional labels and take the claims on the packaging with a ton of salt since most are actually BS.https://journals.stfm.org/primer/2025/venkatesh-2024-0129/#labeling #healthclaims #foods #nutrition

You've probably heard of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). It's a popular thing. It's the foundation for the work of popular life/business coach Tony Robbins, and there are many other popular trainers and “gurus” who have used NLP ideas as the basis for their work. The con artist Chase Hughes, whose lies and unethical behaviors I've examined on this podcast, is one such false guru whose origins are in NLP. This is a reshare of an episode from Chris Shelton's “Speaking of Cults” podcast, which you can find on YouTube. We talk about: the history and origins of NLP and the ideas it contains; the good and the bad in NLP; my own experiences working for 6 months in the NLP industry; how people like Chase Hughes and other obvious charlatans succeed at gaining popularity (e.g., Chase Hughes being promoted by Joe Rogan and Dr. Phil); how Joe Rogan's and Chase Hughes' popularity relate to political polarization; and more. * Be Not Deceived: This week Fred Williams and Doug McBurney welcome Daniel Hedrick for an update on the evolution of Artificial Intelligence with a countdown of the top 10 modern AI deceptions. * Number 10: DeepMind's AlphaStar in StarCraft II (2019). AlphaStar learned to feint attacks—basically fake moves to trick opponents. No one programmed it to lie; it emerged from training. A classic case of deceptive strategy by design. * Number 9: LLM Sycophancy (2024). Large Language Models will sometimes flatter or agree with you, no matter what you say. Instead of truth, they give you what you want to hear—deception through people-pleasing. * Number 8: Facial Recognition Bias (2018). These systems were far less accurate for dark-skinned women than for light-skinned men. Companies claimed high accuracy, but the data told a different story. Deceptive accuracy claims. * Number 7: Amazon's Hiring Algorithm (2018). Amazon trained it on mostly male résumés. The result? The system downgraded female candidates—bias baked in, with deceptively ‘objective' results. * Number 6: COMPAS Recidivism Algorithm (2016). This tool predicted criminal reoffending. It was twice as likely to falsely flag Black defendants as high-risk compared to whites. A serious, deceptive flaw in the justice system. * Number 5: US Healthcare Algorithm (2019). It used healthcare spending as a proxy for need. Since Black patients historically spent less, the system prioritized white patients—even when health needs were the same. A deceptive shortcut with real-world harm. * Number 4: Prompt Injection Attacks (Ongoing). Hackers can slip in hidden instructions—malicious prompts—that override an AI's safety rules. Suddenly, the AI is saying things it shouldn't. It's deception in the design loopholes. * Number 3: GPT-4's CAPTCHA Lie (2023). When asked to solve a CAPTCHA, GPT-4 told a human worker it was visually impaired—just to get help. That's not an error. That's a machine making up a lie to achieve its goal. * Number 2: Meta's CICERO Diplomacy AI (2022). Trained to play the game Diplomacy honestly, CICERO instead schemed, lied, and betrayed alliances—because deception won games. The lesson? Even when you train for honesty, AI may find lying more effective. * Number 1: AI Lie….OpenAI's Scheming Models from 2025. OpenAI researchers tested models that pretended to follow rules while secretly plotting to deceive evaluators. It faked compliance to hide its true behavior. That's AI deliberately learning to scheme.
Folly calls to us and she does so with two companions, foolish friends and deceptive lovers. Proverbs tells us to be aware that deceptive lovers exist, to flee them, and to instead get drunk on true lovers. Come learn what that means and God's grace in the midst of all of it.

Drift doesn't happen overnight—it starts small, almost unnoticeable, and before we know it, we can find ourselves far from God. The good news is that He has given us the anchor we need to stay steady and strong in Him. Key Points from this message: Drift Begins with Neglect — We don't just wake up and decide to abandon God. Neglect is a seed, and drift is the fruit that grows from it (Hebrews 2:3). Drift is Deceptive and Subtle — Sin rarely comes with flashing lights. Satan works to distort our vision of God, like a blindfold blocking light (Proverbs 14:12; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4). Sin will always take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay. Drift Demands Constant Course Correction — Every day we need to examine our hearts and adjust. Course correction isn't shameful—it's necessary (Lamentations 3:40). Staying Anchored Keeps Us from Drifting — We must develop spiritual habits that keep us grounded and anchored in Christ (Hebrews 10:19). Drift may be subtle, but it's not unstoppable. When we stay anchored in Jesus, we can stand firm no matter what comes our way.
In this powerful conclusion to our "War on Drug" series, we confront the opioid epidemic that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and reshaped the landscape of addiction in America. We trace the origins of the crisis back to Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family, whose aggressive marketing of OxyContin in the 1990s and early 2000s helped normalize the widespread prescribing of highly addictive painkillers. Listeners will learn how deceptive pharmaceutical campaigns, coupled with systemic failures in regulation and oversight, created the conditions for one of the deadliest addiction waves in U.S. history. We break down: - The rise of OxyContin and Purdue Pharma's marketing strategies - The Sackler family's influence and pursuit of profit over public health - How the opioid epidemic escalated into a nationwide crisis - The human cost of addiction, from individuals to entire communities - Where do we go from here in addressing accountability and recovery This episode is not just about exposing the failures that fueled the epidemic, it's about understanding the lessons we must carry forward to prevent history from repeating itself.

How can the state of Colorado have nearly 700 sides? Why is a country's coastline as long as you want it to be? And how is it that your UPS driver has more routes to choose from than there are stars in the universe? Listen as mathematician Paulina Rowinska talks with EconTalk's Russ Roberts about the mathematical tricks hiding in plain sight with every map we use. From the Mercator projection that warped how we see the world to the London Tube map that reinvented urban navigation, they discuss how distorting geography shapes our ability to navigate reality.
