KISS was so important to your hosts, The Wolf & Action Jackson, as part of the foundation of their love of rock n roll, live music and their friendship. That's why they invited Tom & Zeus from Shout It Out Loudcast to come on the premier episode of First Concert Memories, our monthly sidecast, and talk about the first time they saw KISS. For FCM 4, we welcome back Sonny "Hollywood" Pooni of Grown Up Rock Podcast and The Album Review Crew to talk about the first time he ever saw legendary KISS lead guitarist Ace Frehley play live. The Wolf and Action saw Ace as a solo act in the 1990s but Sonny saw him as a co-headliner with Y&T in 1987 and he shares with us how important it was to him to see Ace. Sonny go into KISS during the Asylum era and then learned that KISS used to have makeup and had different members of the band. From there he picked up Ace's first solo effort (aside from the 1978 KISS solo albums) Frehley's Comet and it furthered endeared him to Ace's style. Ace famously has had bouts with drugs and alcohol and Sonny relates a story of seeing Ace fall off the stage as well as why the band was so much better with Tod Howarth than in later years without him. If you've seen Ace recently, odds are you were disappointed as he seems a shell of his former self. That's why we wanted to share some memories from when Ace was still in strong form and delivering solid live shows. Sonny is opinionated and you'll hear all his takes on Ace, the shows he has seen and he even provided a bootleg recording of the show which is an FCM first! 1987 in lined up perfectly for Whitesnake in North America. MTV was pushing bands like Bon Jovi, Motley Crue and Def Leppard and hard rock was all over the charts. Bring in a seasoned veteran like David Coverdale, A&R legend John Kalodner and the muscle of David Geffen and you get 10 million copies sold in North America! With fiery guitar magic from John Sykes, Coverdales sometimes rasping yet smooth vocals made this a juggernaut. But did you know Coverdale fired everyone and brought a whole new all star team for the tour? The videos were epic and featured perhaps the greatest video vixen of all time, Tawny Kitaen. The trilogy of Still of the Night, Here I Go Again (#1 US) and Is This Love (#2 US) videos are the stuff rock n roll dreams of the 80s were made of.To walk through this 80s classic we've enlisted Sonny "Hollywood" Pooni of Growin' Up Rock Podcast and Album Review Crew with Tom & Zeus of Shout It Out Loudcast. Sonny knows his stuff, bought the record the first day it came out, saw Whitesnake on that tour and more. We reminisce and crack wise with Sonny on a record that we all lived through in the 80s. Episode Description: It's our 100th episode and we are celebrating in a big way. We are honored to have on the show with us, Y & T founding member Dave Meniketti. We figured in Dave's 45 year career, there hasn't been a question he hasn't answered, so our man Hollywood came up with the idea of giving Dave the option to pick 3 albums from different eras of Y & T's career to discuss. Dave picks an awesome 3 pack of albums and shares some great stories with us about the band and the recording of each of the albums. What's The Story ?: I am a huge Y & T fan and have been since the mid 80s. My fandom pales in comparison to Sonny "Hollywood" Pooni. Sonny has seen the band 49 times as of this recording. According to him, if you grew up a rock fan in the Bay Area of California, you have a responsibility of being a Y & T fan. So it goes without saying when we needed a very special guest for our 100th episode, we looked no farther than Sonny's fellow California brother, and the leader of one of Sonny's top 5 bands, Y & T's Dave Meniketti. This band has meant so much to Sonny over his Growin' Up Rock years that I wanted to share the intro to this episode in his own words. "Growin’ up in Northern California, Y&T is a major part of my Growin’ Up Rock story. To this day, it drives me absolutely nuts when a “rock” fan doesn’t know who Y&T is…especially if they are from California. Even though they have been rockin’ the world for 45 years, the passion and work ethic has never wavered. We are so honored to have with us, the absolute hero of my teenage years, the underrated vocalist and guitarist of Y&T and one of the hardest working guys in rock, Mr. Dave Meniketti." Sit back and enjoy as we take a trip with Dave through 3 very different periods in the band's career covering three killer albums. A chat with Steven Michael and Sonny “Hollywood” Pooni of ‘Growin’ Up Rock’ Podcast fame! These two rockers joined forces to talk all things hard rock and metal. They are true fans and live for the music. Like all of us at the RNRA, it is in the blood stream, born in an age when music was the currency that drove the culture. But they aren’t just discussing the past, they are very much into the present. In fact, their fourth show featured Sam Kizka from current young rock gods Greta Van Fleet!

In 1989, Extreme made their debut with a self-titled record on A&M Records that was kinda, sorta produced by legendary producer Mack. In this second episode of the Pod O' Graffitti series, your hosts Sonny "Hollywood" Pooni of the Growin' Up Rock Podcast, Brian Sword of The Double Stop Podcast, and Eric Miller of The Pods & Sods Network share their thoughts on this debut album. Tons of trivia, tons of little factoid nuggets, a close examination of the lyrics both immature and deep, lots of "Nuno's solo is really fantastic!", talk of B-sides, a few detours into Mozart, CSNY, two drink minimums, and drunken karaoke. Do.. you.. want.. to.. PLAY?!?
We're kicking off a new sidecast series - Pod O' Graffitti, a look at the Extreme discography! In this introductory episode, your hosts Sonny "Hollywood" Pooni of the Growin' Up Rock Podcast, Brian Sword of The Double Stop Podcast, and Eric Miller of The Pods & Sods Network share their stories of discovering the music of Extreme, their memories of seeing the band live as far back as 1990 with Alice In Chains. We also break down some of the early pre-Extreme days from both Gary with The Dream and Nuno with Sinful, including a few rare tracks from the aforementioned. From here, we'll go album by album through the career of Extreme. You're all invited to the party!
