Við kíkjum sérstaklega á gengi "I Was Made For Lovin´ You" ásamt því að skoða hvernig restin af túrnum "The Return Of KISS" fór fram. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week Tom Zeus review the legendary 1975 appearance by KISS on the T.V. show The Midnight Special. The Midnight Special was a late night musical variety show that ran on NBC from 1973 to 1981 after the Tonight Show on Friday nights, starting at 1:00 AM. KISS recorded four songs on April 1, 1975 just after they released Dressed To Kill. They performed 4 songs, Deuce, C'mon And Love Me (which never aired), She and Black Diamond. This legendary performance is KISS at its early inception. Hungry, raw and dangerous. Their look and performance can only be described as jaw dropping. This week Tom & Zeus review the 1983 pivotal album, "Lick It Up" This was KISS' 11th studio album and the 23rd KISS studio album reviewed by SIOL. Lick It Up was the first studio album from KISS without the makeup. Before the release, the band was on MTV and unmasked with MTV VJ the late great J.J. Jackson and premiered the video for Lick It Up. This was the first (and last) credited album with Vinnie Vincent as a member. First not to have Ace Frehley credited as a member. First KISS album without any outside songwriters credited on an album. The album was produced by Michael James Jackson, who had just produced the previous album, Creatures Of The Night and the four original tracks on the compilation Killers. This was a critical point in KISStory. The band taking off the makeup was a big gamble. However, Paul kept thinking the audience was listening to KISS with their eyes and they needed to make this change. Now without the makeup, KISS was competing with their contemporaries on a even playing field. How did they do? Well, the album brought them back to not just gold status, but platinum. The addition of Vinnie Vincent was a difference maker. His guitar playing was great, but the energy he brought with his songwriting was just so evident. He co-wrote 8 of the 10 songs on the album, including the legendary title track, Lick It Up. The guys discuss the album cover, the videos and make a few bold statements about the album and the band with Vinnie Vincent. As usual the guys breakdown and analyze the tracks and rank the songs SIOL style. As always, they then compare the album and album cover and rank it against the previous studio albums reviewed. So tune in to find out if All Hell's Breakin' Loose after this album gets discussed and ranked and if the partnership of Frehley & Cusano have to file Chapter 11... Their 1st release KISS in 1974 was not a huge hit so Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley went back into the studio and put out Hotter than Hell and once again it was not a hit. So 3rd times a charm rightr? Nope Dressed to Kill sold ok but what it did have was Rock and roll all night! As a last chance effort KISS released KISS ALIVE which was a double live record featuring the band like they should be...LIVE! The rest is KISSTORY!!

July may be over but KISSmas isn't as we time travel to another dimension with Alternate KISStory. Imagine, if you will, KISStory playing out differently. Imagine that certain albums were never released. Imagine the original band splitting up at a different time; and the subsequent solo efforts. Imagine certain replacement members never entering the picture and a reunion tour happening at a completely different time. Imagine a reunion album being released in a different era. It's interesting to think about and that's what we did. Thanks to a brilliant idea by Aaron Camaro and a fully-fleshed out alternate history, we present to you what might have taken place in a different dimension. Different, but still plausible. Additionally, Chris and Aaron will reveal their idea for a reunion album by KISS in a much different era. You'll get the album title and tracklist. Also, be sure to check the Decibel Geek social media pages for reveals of their album artwork! We'd love to hear your thoughts on Alternate KISStory, how you think it would have differed, and what YOUR picks would be for a reunion album from the era mentioned. Cadillac Dreams with Bill Barnett - Ep538

Decibel Geek Podcast

We continue KISSmas in July with a trip back to 1975 in Cadillac, Michigan! Bill Barnett was a member of the Cadillac High School football team and was at ground zero for one of the most unique moments in KISStory as KISS visited Cadillac, Michigan. If you're unfamiliar with the history, we'll quickly bring you up to speed. The 1974 Cadillac High School football team was in a slump. To motivate the team, assistant coach Jim Neff started playing KISS music in the weight room and locker room. To take things a step further, defensive formations were named after KISS songs. This unique approach would go on to fire up the squad and result in the team winning a title. Realizing what a unique story this was, Coach Neff contacted KISS' management office and told them the story. The band and management seized on the unique story and agreed to come to Cadillac in 1975 during the school's homecoming week. The band would perform a concert in the school gym, meet with city leaders the next morning and finish things off being featured in the homecoming parade downtown. In this discussion, Bill Barnett shares his memories of being a player on that KISStoric football team, his memories of Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter, and much more. The story of how the whole event came together has to be heard to be believed as well as the legacy it's created. Bill also fills us in on different potential film projects that might be happening to document the event in the future; one of which involves a rock legend coming to Cadillac himself to research. We're kicking off KISSmas in July with an unforgettable guest that's got loads of entertaining stories as we present Storytime with Diamond Tim! Diamond Tim is a Nashville native that grew up as the stepson of the city's longtime sheriff, Fate Thomas. Between his insatiable fandom for KISS and his connections to the city leader, Tim was able to get access to KISS in many different ways over the years. From his first concert in Nashville during 1979's 'Dynasty' tour to hanging backstage with the band on the 'Creatures of the Night' tour to presenting members of the band with keys to the city jail to much more, Tim had some amazing run-ins with members of the band. In this long form discussion, Diamond Tim shares his personal KISStory, his meetings with the band, his thoughts on the many changes of the band and much more. Additionally, he would go on to work for the band, interview members at conventions, and even go fishing with Peter Criss! On top of all of that, Tim's got a personality that'll have you laughing throughout the episode; we certainly did. We hope you enjoy Storytime with Diamond Tim and SHARE with a friend!
