Bob, Carolyn and Melissa talk Star Trek: Mission New York. September 8th of this year marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of Star Trek on the NBC network, it was only fitting that ReedPopParamount, and CBS would team up to put on an extravaganza celebrating that momentous occasion.
Continuing their celebration of 50 years of Trek, the Regular Joes beamed down to Star Trek Mission New York. While there they checked out some panels, scoped out the awesome costumes, scored some autographs, and canvased the sales floor for cool stuff. Along the way they interviewed James Cawley the Trek fan/entrepreneur behind Star Trek New Voyages and the Official Star Trek Set Tour (), Anovos CEO Joe Salcedo (), and Trouble with Tribbles writer David Gerrold. Live long and Prosper!

Talkin' Comic-Con: A Cup O' Tea with An Englishman In San Diego s04e05 - 28th August 2016, 1000 PT / 1300 ET / 1800 GMT ~~ STAR TREK MISSION NYC / FAN EXPO CANADA ~~ Our Guests, this week: ~ Alyssa Franks, Friends Of Comic Con Forum ~ Michael Pea ~ Brian Stephenson, ReedPop YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24b2jIE4RVc --------------------------------------------------- We really enjoy our live reports from cons, across the globe - we've been very lucky to have insights into conventions, large and small, in recent weeks, and this week we're lucky enough to have some more out-and-about glimpses this Sunday. And this week, our regular co-host gets in on the action. Alyssa Franks joins us from STAR TREK: MISSION NEW YORK and, as an avid Trekker, it's going to be interesting to hear what she thinks of this celebration of everything Federation, especially with news reaching us of the new Bryan Fuller STAR TREK DISCOVERY series. She's also joined by Brian Stephenson, Global Brand Director for show organizer ReedPop, to talk about the future of Star Trek and the Mission convention experience. We start the show, however, with a live report from Michael Pea, direct from the very manic and hectic DragonCon event in Atlanta, Georgia. That, and with a wrap-up of this week's Comic-Con news, and it should be a fun show. Hope you can join us! --------------------------------------------------- TALKIN' COMIC-CON: A CUP O' TEA WITH AN ENGLISHMAN IN SAN DIEGO is the weekly San Diego Comic-Con and con culture live podcast, hosted every Sunday (6pm GMT / 10am PT / 1pm ET) and hosted by Leonard Sultana, and joined by Alyssa Franks. Each week, the best bloggers on t'web talk about San Diego Comic-Con, about con & pop culture and, for an hour or so, we invite guests to talk to us and get nerdy and geeky about everything that orbits the Best Pop Culture Convention On The Planet! YOU can watch and interact online, either by Twitter (tweeting with the hashtag #CupOTeaSDCC) or via the Hangout Event Q&A. Schedules permitting, Leonard will be joined by guests from the SDCC blogging community and some surprises! If you have anything you'd like to have discussed in these Comic-Con shows, please put a suggestion in the comments - we'd love to hear what you'd like to talk about. And don't forget to join in the conversation LIVE during the show, using the Q&A button in the video preview above or on Twitter (#CupOTeaSDCC) See you all, this and every Sunday, at 6pm GMT... LIVE!

Crossover. Sometimes actions can have unexpected consequences. Such was the case in The Original Series when Kirk convinced Mirror Spock to turn the Terran Empire from evil to good. Only he didn't know it. Kirk had the best intentions, but maybe there was a reason the Terrans were the way they were. We learned the result of Kirk's speech in the Deep Space Nine episode “Crossover,” the first of many trips to the Mirror Universe for the DS9 crew. In this episode of The Ready Room, we're joined by Zachary Fruhling, Rumman Chowdhury, and Brandon-Shea Mutala to discuss the first onscreen foray into the Mirror Universe since TOS. Beginning with Kirk's actions, we continue on to explore the disastrous consequences his words had for the humans of this universe, how oppression impacts lives, and how sexuality can be used to wield power over others. We also discuss various DS9 characters and their mirror counterparts, and how circumstances bring out different traits. Plus, in our news segment we discuss the lineup of events and panels scheduled for Star Trek: Mission New York.
