We're covering Hyper Agent Gridman, Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, SSSS Gridman, and SSSS Dynazenon all in this one oversized episode! To check out the first 2 mini-comics of our upcoming series, When We Transform, find them on my Substack at https://open.substack.com/pub/tomitrembath/p/dear-david?r=2lkq59&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web and https://open.substack.com/pub/tomitrembath/p/dear-mom?r=2lkq59&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web.
Ahhh the 90's, a simpler time, with much lower standards. It just goes to show you, that just because you have a banger theme song, and cool action figures, doesn't necessarily mean that you'll have a cohesive show, but you will have fun!

Time for the “Rider Kickoff”!Travis Alexander (Kaiju Weekly) and Nathan Marchand (The Monster Island Film Vault) launch their new spinoff podcast discussing Japan's transforming, kaiju-fighting superheroes. In this episode, your intrepid hosts introduce themselves and give their history with henshin heroes, starting with the likes of Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad and Saban's Masked Rider. They define what a “henshin hero” is and even argue that American-created characters like Marvel's Thor, He-Man, and Linda Carter's Wonder Woman all qualify. Then they lay out the podcast's mission statement and wacky awards, which includes “What the Henshin?!” and “Kamen at Ya!” Also, puns. Lots of puns. You've been warned.Welcome to Henshin Men, a tokusatsu superhero appreciation podcast!

John and CC kick off this season finale on Anime Brain Freeze as usual, by talking about the shows from Fall 2018 that couldn't hold their interest in the Chop 'n' Drop. Then they climb into their time machine, set the date to 1994 and review the newest iteration on the tokusatsu series Gridman the Hyper Agent, known in the west as Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. The hosts discuss why this new series, aptly titled SSSS.Gridman, is not only a visually engaging rollercoaster ride, but can also boast one of the most well realized antagonists in Anime history. Last but not least, they pick their favorites from Fall 2018 in Best of the Season. It's another long one as Evan is joined by Patz (@PatzPrime) and Tom (@TomAznable) of The Cockpit Podcast to review Studio Trigger's 2018 anime series SSSS.Gridman, based on the 1993 tokusatsu series Denkou Choujin Gridman, a.k.a. Gridman the Hyper Agent, a.k.a. Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. This episode has two separate spoiler sections, one for things that happen after episode 2 and another for the ending, so keep an ear out for those! And in a very appropriate question segment, the trio answer how best to avoid spoilers when reviewing something. Topics include: hacking your toaster, Baby Dan Dan, and staying hydrated. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at http://anigamers.com/podcast.

*rap airhorn* It's our biggest episode yet because the Hollywood Kaiju Bad Boys Luke, Brandon and Martin have on three smokin' hot hotties. That's right, we got Mitch Kamaiopili, Liz Getty and Aaron Klopfer all back on in one mighty episode. We watched Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad and talked about the science behind 2 girls 1 cup, 5 mile Hitlers and had some of the most dang ol' fun we've ever had around these parts.

Okay, I got the name of the name of the American Gridman wrong. It’s Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. My bad! Trailer for SSSS.Gridmanwww.youtube.com/watch?v=-v5raSQokqw I really mess with Tokusatsu shows. To explain…
Much like Power Rangers, Superhuman Samurai was riding the wave of shows that were Americanized from Japanese shows. In this case it was a show that was sort of like an Ultraman side story in Gridman. Superhuman Samurai is a mixed bag of a show. So good stuff and some questionable things as CJ and Prime sift through all of it. Twitter: @PrimeGundam @3BlackGeeks
