Infinity: The Hunt has ended, and now we are left with the cleanup...and this miniseries. The reaction to Thanos's invasion, by the Inhumans, was to unleash clouds of Terrigen Mist. The reaction by Marvels comics to that event, was to bring us...this mess. So, grab your cell phones, and start posting, because apparently that is the future. You may be looking at this book, and after the prior series, you are hoping for a nice, simple story. Maybe something about the friends, we made along the way, or an exploration into teams working with one another. Dating possibly. Maybe some shared cookouts. That would be nice. Just people hanging out, chatting about stuff. Maybe a fun little nautical pirate story. Who knows? The world is the writer's oyster. NO! You do not get nice things. You must get out all of your social media handles and blog post about everything because that is the world we live in!!! And be sure to post about your most disgusting thing so the whole world knows about it. Get in that bathroom! Snap a picture of your garbage! Embarrass your family! DO IT!!! Also, make sure you get a bunch of super-heroes to come and help you out. Make sure that they are running away from emergency and disaster response scenarios to help you and your little problem. It is ok, you have superpowers and that makes you better than other people. Now, wait a minute. Talking about feelings and working through problems is a good thing, and we should be recognizing when talking and listening to people helps resolve problems. We should be emotionally available for people. Except for rage filled, pre-teen, younger brothers. They are the worst. But you should read the book. Let's check out some trivia from it.Star of the hit Netflix coming-of-age comedy series, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, was a fan favorite choice to essay the role of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. However, Ramakrishnan clarified that an actor with Pakistani heritage would be better suited for the role as she is a second-generation Sri Lankan/Canadian with Tamil heritage. In the comics, Kamala's origin story is associated with the Terrigen Mist from the beings called the Inhumans. However, the negative reception and controversy of the ill-fated live-action TV series called the Inhumans, released in 2017, may have influenced the writers to sever any ties Ms. Marvel may have with the Inhumans. Therefore, her powers and origin story for the film have been altered.Ms. Marvel's powers from the comic books are significantly different from the ones shown in the TV series. In the comics, she has super-healing abilities like Wolverine and Deadpool, metamorphic abilities like Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, and the ability to enlarge or shrink in size like Ant-Man. However, Marvel decided to give her cosmic powers instead, manifested through her family heirloom bracelet. It grants her powers very similar to DC superhero Green Lantern and the ring used by members of the Green Lantern Corps.Kamala Khan's obsession with her favorite Avenger, Captain Marvel, is well documented in comics, video games, and the new TV series. In fact, Ms. Marvel was originally the moniker for Carol Danvers who is now known as Captain Marvel, a role essayed by Brie Larson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But when Danvers became Captain Marvel, her biggest fan, Kamala Khan took over the mantle of Ms. Marvel. It is also interesting to note that for several decades in the comics books and in several adaptations such as the ongoing acclaimed animated TV series, Young Justice, the DC character Shazam is actually called Captain Marvel. It wasn't until recently, through video games such as Injustice and the Shazam live-action film did Captain Marvel change to Shazam. It could be a creative decision by Warner Brothers and DC to avoid any confusion with Marvel Comics' Captain Marvel.Just like her character Kamala Khan, actress Iman Vellani is also a massive fan of comic books and the Avengers.
