Comedian, actor, television writer, author and musician Paul Reiser is one of Hollywood's most prolific creatives.2024 is a busy year for Reiser. On the heels of his new comedy The Problem with People which Reiser wrote, produced, and starred in alongside Colm Meaney and Jane Levy, Reiser has projects across a multitude of media formats. In March, Carter Burke, Reiser's iconic character from Aliens re-emerged in a What-if… concept comic book from Marvel comics and he appeared in the independent comedy The Gutter, directed by Isaiah and Yassir Lester. Reiser also co-wrote the New York Times bestseller What A Fool Believes: A Memoir the candid, freewheeling memoir of his friend and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Michael McDonald. In July, Reiser will appear in Netflix's Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, reprising his role from BH Cop 1 and 2. Recently, Reiser could be seen in Hulu's critically-acclaimed comedy series “Reboot” by Modern Family creator Steve Levitan. He also took his first step into bloody, superhero glory in Season 3 of Amazon Prime's Emmy-nominated The Boys playing “The Legend.” Reiser is widely celebrated for his roles in two hit shows for Netflix: Stranger Thing and Chuck Lorre's The Kominsky Method, for which he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Mad About You, the long-running Emmy, Peabody, and Golden Globe-winning comedy that Reiser created and starred in with Helen Hunt, returned as a limited series on Spectrum Originals. Reiser earned acclaim for his supporting role in the Academy Award-winning film Whiplash. The veteran actor has garnered praise for notable performances in films such as Diner, Bye Bye Love, One Night At McCool's, and The Thing About My Folks, which Reiser wrote for his co-star Peter Falk. Reiser is a fixture behind the camera as well. He co-created and produced the seven-episode series There's Johnny!, a seven-episode series which streamed on Hulu and Peacock. The show, a fictional story set behind-the-scenes of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show circa 1972, co-produced with director David Gordon Green. His new standup special – his first in 30 years – will be released later this year via Comedy Dynamics.
Come see the great Tony V. THIS Friday Sept 13th at The China Blossom in N. Andover MA, where he'll be hosting and headlining night one of CFP's Wicket Funny's 2nd annual “Funniest Person In Merrimac Valley” contest – Jacques (and former CPP guests Wayne Russell from Open Mic Pain Podcast and Lauren Simms) will all be participants in. A lot of great stuff has happened with Tony since being on our podcast in March. Now, we're not saying ALL of it is a result of being on our podcast but we're not, NOT saying that either. Hey, the “CPP Bump” as it's known industry wide, has really helped a lot of careers … according to our own research (which is proprietary and we won't be sharing with the class.) Sure, it could be part strategic self-serving scheduling on our part back in March. It COULD be part coincidence. And sure, an argument could be made that these things have come about due to a life time of hard work by Tony and him being one of the best comics to ever come out of the greatest city for stand-up comedy ever. BUT his “Life Time Achievement” award from Jim McCue & The Boston Comedy Festival this year DID happen after being on our podcast. His ridiculously funny Comedy Dynamics special, “Wait Till You Hear This” did come out on Apple TV, Amazon Prime (and dozens of other places) AFTER he was on CPP. Tony was also prominently featured on the very cool John Tobin Productions launch video for their “Lil Chucks” comedy club and also, when Jacques was in LA a few weeks ago, Tony did get to co-host with the very talented Gus Vireiros at The Yard Theater in Hollywood an amazing show with Bobcat Goldthwait, again all this happened AFTER having been on CPP ... and now, this Friday's Wicket Funny CFP hosting headlining gig … come on. Hope you can get a ticket for what will be a sold-out show on Friday. Elayne Boosler: Timeless Elayne Boosler's comedy special compilation, Timeless, will be released by Comedy Dynamics on August 31, 2018 on DVD/CD and on the Comedy Dynamics Network. The boxed set, Timeless, will include specials not available since they first aired:Party of One, the special Elayne funded herself in 1986, Broadway Baby (1987),Top Tomata(1989), and Live Nude Girls(1991), each in its own way groundbreaking and funny for all time. As a bonus, Elayne's new album, The 50/50 Club, recorded live around the country, rounds out the set. Boosler‘s Party of Oneblew open the locked gates for female standup comedians on TV. She is best known for her thoughtful and feisty socially conscious humor, and love of animals. For over forty years, she has appeared on seemingly every talk show on TV, has written and starred in five of her own one-hour Showtime standup comedy specials, written and directed two movies for Cinemax, and has hosted specials, series, and events. She writes for print media, and founded and runs Tails of Joy animal rescue. “The political jokes in these specials could have been written today. That's how slowly things change – great for me, bad for us. If the shoulders on my outfits were only smaller, we could have said these were new,” jokes Elayne. “It's an honor to play even a tiny part in the career of an artist who made history as often as Elayne did,” said Brian Volk-Weiss, CEO of Comedy Dynamics. Jeff Cerulli! Comedian! Documentarian! Friend! Guy with a new special out now called "Live at the Bomb Shelter"! ABOUT THE SPECIAL: NYC-based comedian, writer and filmmaker Jeff Cerulli and Comedy Dynamics are pleased to announce the release of Live at the Bomb Shelter, Cerulli's debut full-length comedy special, out now everywhere comedy can be streamed. Cerulli takes the stage at NYC's Bomb Shelter for an hour of comedy that takes viewers on a hilarious journey through growing up on Long Island, the true crime craze, the joys of being a dog-dad, getting engaged after 10 years, and the struggles of helping an aging parent. Notably Cerulli gets into the bad NYC apartments I've lived in: “I had to move about a year ago because my last apartment was filled with lead…which is not what you want.” Cerulli always loved stand up comedy, and knew he would try it one day. He started running comedy shows in his 20s - a great way to land consistent stage time. “I have run so many random shows at different places in the city that most of the bars are now either a 7/11 or a Citibank”. The Bomb Shelter is a weekly comedy show run by Cerulli since 2016 in the basement of the Gaf West - one of the best independent comedy rooms in New York, super-intimate with low ceilings, a hot pipe and Christmas lights all year round. Says Cerulli: “There isn't anything else like it, going up and telling jokes without a net. It is the only artform you must practice in front of strangers to get better.” Cerulli is a filmmaker as well as a comedian, with multiple documentaries, web-series, and short films to his credit. Thus, he opted to make his own special a DIY affair, hiring amazing DP friend Ari Rothschild to shoot and run sound, and Paul Levin from International Digital Centre to mix. Cerulli edited Live at the Bomb Shelter himself, deftly switching hats: “I have been doing comedy for a long time, I have enough material, just do it.“ Cerulli took it to Comedy Dynamics because he loves what they are doing in the comedy space and was thrilled that they came aboard to distribute. ABOUT JEFF CERULLI: Jeff Cerulli is a NYC-based stand-up comedian and filmmaker who has performed all around the world. Jeff has been featured on Sirius radios Jim & Sam show, Amazon Game Breakers, The Laugh Button & Decider. His web series The Feed earned critical praise - The Observer said “it hits too close to home” and Paste called it “a sly satire on social media.” Jeff's feature-length documentary debut Hungry premiered at the IFC Center as part of the DOC NYC film festival. His latest documentary Tasteless, about the ever-changing comedy landscape, is currently available on Apple TV. Jeff currently hosts the podcast Your Team's Stuff where he invites a guest to judge memorabilia he finds off eBay for their favorite sports team ABOUT THIS PODCAST: Listen and enjoy! Kim McVicar is a Canadian-born stand-up comedian who you can literally see all over America right now. You can see her at The World-Famous Hollywood Improv on Melrose as well as Levity clubs around the southwest. She also has her third special titled Female Comedian, out now on Amazon Prime and wherever else Comedy Dynamics distributes their specials. Some explaining to do here. This episode was recorded on what was the first warm day of the year in LA. Because of it, the cameras kept overheating. At one point, I attempted to correct everything by unplugging the power strip. That ended up erasing the first 20 minutes of the episode (lol). The good news is, though YouTube tutorials, I figured out how to keep this from happening going forward. That isn't to say this episode didn't suffer. This is a relatively quick, mostly audio-only episode. It's a fun one, definitely was frustrated the whole time cause this was the first episode with the multi-cam setup that crapped out on me like this. In other facets of the business, Katz was one of the driving forces and co-founders of Comedy Dynamics, which has become one of the largest independent comedy production and distribution companies in the world. The Lubyanka Criminal Group is another name for Russia's version of the CIA. They are known as the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB). Today on World on Drugs I'm going to talk about how the FSB was responsible for directing two civil wars and putting Vladimir Putin in a position of power. Beyond war and contract killings, we'll also cover how they decided to poison their enemies who tried to stop them or spoke out against them. The FSB still carries plenty of power today and will continue to do so as long as Vladimir Putin holds the Presidency of Russia.
