The last time Mama Medicine (AKA Deborah Hanekamp) joined the show, I had a serious out-of-body experience. It was madness. This mama has some serious power. (If you want an idea of what I’m talking about, you can use code LUKE20 for $20 off a medicine reading any time in 2020 at www.mamamedicine.com/medicinereadings.) So, of course, I had to bring Deborah back on, although we’re talking about a very different subject — ritual baths. I’m not exactly playing pickup football at the park every weekend, but I like to think of myself as a pretty masculine dude. I definitely never thought of myself as the kind of person who would sink into a bath adorned with flower petals. But after reading Deborah’s new book — "Ritual Baths: Be Your Own Healer" — I really started to look at my bathtub with a new perspective. I always thought of showers and baths as more of a utilitarian thing: I get clean and kickstart my nervous system with a quick cold shower. I was so focused on staying clean and stacking biohacks that I never really stopped to consider the spiritual benefits of a well-planned bath. Honestly, I never would have guessed there was so much I didn’t know about baths! But now that I know, I’m excited to add another easy #spirithack for inner peace and spiritual wellness to my repertoire. 10:25 — Why write a book on Ritual Baths? Baths are a really comprehensive way to be your own healer The feeling of cleansing you get after a bath goes deeper than just your physical body How approaching it with intention turns your bath into a ritual Why Deborah started recommending baths after medicine readings 15 years ago The historical relevance of ritual baths Why I love natural water and when I almost created a water-focused brand Giving yourself a womb-like experience submerged in the water 22:35 — What it looks like when you start a bath with an intention The “I Am Nature” bath What a medicine reading is like (use code LUKE20 for $20 off a medicine reading at www.mamamedicine.com/medicinereadings) Becoming your own healer 30:25 — How a healer is different from a guru or savior The issue of disempowerment, especially in spiritual communities When Deborah gave her power away and what she learned from that experience Creating Mama Medicine as something empowering “We all have access to the divine because we all have love.” Spiritual work is more often ordinary than extraordinary Why Deborah doesn’t consider remote medicine readings to be any different from in-person ones The space-time illusion 44:00 — The role plant medicines have played in Deborah’s journey and how they just might save humanity from destruction Deborah is still integrating what she learned after years with Mother Ayahuasca Why Deborah now doesn’t take any conscious-altering substances How all of the water on the planet is connected to 57:05 — The ultimate guide to water filters Most municipal water is extremely toxic! If you’re a discerning health enthusiast like myself, you’ve probably sat and scratched your head at the health food store trying to figure out which CBD product you should buy. They all make big claims, they all say they’re the best, but what actually works? Well, I just found a brand that I’m super stoked about, and I want to share it with you: ONDA offers a patented and truly full-spectrum line of products that aren’t dependent on the use of alcohol, CO2, or other solvents for extraction – and this is important because when you’re getting the medicine out of the plant, you don’t want to add poisons to it! You can try it for yourself and get 15% off using code LUKE15 at ondawellness.com. AND… BIOPTIMIZERS. Starting in the 80’s, supplement companies began pushing massive protein consumption. We all believed that “more protein = more muscle growth.” But I’m here to tell you that IT’S A BIG FAT LIE. It doesn’t matter if you’re consuming 30 or 300 grams of protein — if you don’t have a sufficient supply of enzymes to digest protein, your muscles will be starving for those vital building blocks. That’s why it’s crucial you take a high-quality enzyme. The one I trust (and use myself) is called MassZymes by BiOptimizers, a full-spectrum enzyme formula with more protease than any other commercially available. Plus, it contains all the other key enzymes you need for optimal digestion. And you can try it today, risk-free. Their 365 day FULL money back guarantee is the gold standard in the industry. Dr. Deborak K. Ekstrom is the president of Salisbury Plastic Surgery in Massachusetts — a very successful clinic and she’s a highly skilled surgeon and has been honing those skills over decades. But success wasn’t easy. It never is Onward Nation. Even if from the outside, it might seem that way. It takes hard work — it takes commitment — it takes a drive to get over the obstacles and past the naysayers who are attempting to stand in your way. And it takes mentors who can take us under their wing and share their guidance with us. Dr. Ekstrom had people like that in her path — she listened — and she persevered. And you will also hear about how she has reached a place in her career and life where she wants to not just give back — but to teach, to share, to be a conduit of educational resources...and so I’m excited for her to walk us through the media company her and her team have created called Deluge Beau. So, Onward Nation — this will be a conversation around grit, tenacity, smarts, and building for the future that I think you are going to find extremely helpful. What you’ll learn about in this episode: How Deborah's early career as a surgeon began, and the challenges she sometimes faced as a female surgeon in a male-dominated time Which valuable skills Deborah had to develop to live an extraordinary life, and how her goal is now to help enable others to live their extraordinary life Why the ability to teach yourself and continue to learn is a critical skill that any successful business leader needs to develop How Deborah began her career without resources and mentors, and why she now works to serve as a teacher and mentor to others and especially women Why Deborah created Deluge Beau, and why creating a magazine was well-suited to her skills and interests Why Deborah and her team named the magazine Deluge Beau, and why she believes that too many people are afraid of abundance What advice Deborah would offer to anyone who struggles to believe that they are deserving of success Why abundance is the natural state of the universe and how someone has to actively take self-destructive steps to avoid abundance What sort of women Deluge Beau is seeking to serve and welcome into their community, and what hopes Deborah has for the magazine Additional resources: Website: www.delugebeau.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/delugebeau/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/delugebeau/

IN THIS EPISODE: Natural remedies are not as complicated as you think and on this episode - I'm calling it a “MeSpeak” episode because it's just me - I'm going to be sharing some homeopathic remedies with you for shock and injury. I usually like to address issues individually but shock and injury are so frequently dealt with together I thought that it was appropriate and would be more helpful to address them at the same time. If you apply the natural remedies I give you in this episode in cases where someone has experienced a significant shock or an injury, you'll be doing them a favor and learning how powerful homeopathic remedies can be for these situations. I want you to be empowered to take charge of your health and to be a help to others when situations like this arise. If you are, everyone will benefit. When you're dealing with a situation that involves shock, there are three main homeopathic remedies that I would recommend. They are aconite, opium, and gelsemium. All three are very helpful in the treatment of a wide variety of shock conditions and in this episode I'm walking you through each of them so that you can be equipped to deal with emergency situations involving shock. But you also need to understand how situations involving shock are often related to the pain or trauma of an injury. That's why I'm also including in this episode some of the natural ways you can address injury and the pain that often comes with it. Toward that end, you'll hear about Arnica, Hypericum, and Nat-Sulph. With each of the remedies I describe on this episode I give you situations and stories where I have seen each work - and I describe the kinds of situations where each one of these natural approaches can be used. You will end the episode with a greater knowledge of how you can bring about significant healing in yourself and others by using entirely natural means. I hope you enjoy and apply what you learn. Animals are not all that different from us - and the main thing is that their bodies respond better to natural approaches just like ours do. On this episode of the podcast I've asked Julie Mann to help me unpack the things you can do to help your animals live a healthier life. You're going to be amazed at some of the stories Julie Mann has to tell about how her homeopathic approach to animal care has turned around serious health conditions for many pets. This episode is not only full of miracle stories but also highlights some very specific treatments you can use for your animals to enable them to enjoy their time with you and live a long life. Today's guest is a wealth of knowledge and I asked her to share her top 3 home remedies for dogs and other pets so you can begin to gather the things you need to care for your pets when they have ailments or other conditions. You'll find Julie Mann's insights and suggestions very helpful. You can treat your pet's ailments yourself in most cases using natural remedies. Julie Mann makes some specific recommendations on this episode of the VidalSPEAKS podcast and gives you simple ways to administer and use the things she recommends. I think you'll find this episode to be very hopeful AND helpful. One of the most important things you can do for your animals is to ensure that they are getting the proper diet - which means that commercial foods are not the best way to go. You need to know that your animals are getting a diet that is as close to what they would eat in the wild as possible. Dry foods from big companies are definitely not that. On this episode Julie shares how a simple change in diet changes health issues in a big way most of the time, so be sure you listen.
