In this episode, Jeremy and Camilla return to discuss key aspects of their nearly 40-year-old postgraduate course, Dynamis. They begin by exploring the foundational concepts of homeopathy, particularly the need to classify cases—acute, chronic, epidemic, or miasmatic—before selecting remedies. Jeremy shares insights from his decades of international practice and introduces the idea of the "similimum" as a sequence of remedies rather than a single solution. The episode highlights the structure and goals of the Dynamis course, covering philosophy, Materia Medica, case-taking, and practice management. Camilla talks about her book Beyond Organic, which connects homeopathy with organic gardening and plant care. Jeremy also previews his upcoming book on epidemics, emphasizing the importance of understanding epidemic disease as a collective experience. Born in South Africa and raised in Israel, he began studying homeopathy in 1980 at the College of Homoeopathy in London while also earning a degree in Acupuncture from the International College of Oriental Medicine. Although he practices homeopathy exclusively, his deep understanding of Chinese Medicine informs his approach. In 1986, he founded the Dynamis School for Advanced Homoeopathic Studies, now the longest-running postgraduate program in the field, and has since taught in over 30 countries. A prolific author and researcher, Jeremy has published numerous textbooks and journal articles, conducted provings of 32 new homeopathic remedies, and contributed significant works such as Dynamic Materia Medica: Syphilis and the Q-Rep repertory of Mental Qualities. He also developed The Dynamic Case Taker software to enhance homeopathic casetaking and analysis. His achievements have earned him a fellowship from the Society of Homoeopaths, a Ph.D. from Medicina Alternativa, and honorary academic positions in China and Argentina. Recently, he has devoted himself to “Homeopathy for Health in Africa,” a humanitarian project treating HIV/AIDS patients in Tanzania and researching epidemic remedies, further expanding the reach and impact of his life's work. Camilla Sherr is a passionate and experienced homeopath whose career spans over 30 years, rooted in a deep belief in the mind-body connection and the holistic healing power of homeopathy. After graduating from The Finnish Institute of Homeopathy and completing postgraduate studies at the Dynamis School, she went on to teach and lead remedy provings, including Scandium and Honey. For the past 15 years, she has lived in Tanzania with her husband, Jeremy Sherr, co-founding Homeopathy for Health in Africa, a non-profit dedicated to treating HIV/AIDS patients with homeopathy. Camilla also has a keen interest in Agrihomoeopathy and is the co-creator of Clil Botanicals, a line of therapeutic skincare products combining homeopathy with Tanzanian seed oils. Her dedication to healing extends beyond her clinical work, having served as President of the Finnish Society of Homoeopathy and receiving a Fellowship from the UK Society of Homeopaths, all while continuing to explore and expand the applications of homeopathy in everyday life. 2 x Complimentary 4R Video sessions: https://vimeo.com/1078474070?share=copy https://vimeo.com/1087753300/58251ed747?share=copy 4R and Socials Info: https://www.dynamis.edu/new-page https://www.dynamis.edu/ https://www.instagram.com/dynamis_school_homoeopathy https://www.patreon.com/JEREMYSHERR 4R Season 4 Sign Up link: Season 4: https://tqfs.official.academy/?aaid=gYWrL#!jeremys-4r-materia-medica-season-4/LJRQN/c/JEREMY/ 4R Seasons 1, 2, or 3 Sign-Up Links: Season 1: https://tqfs.official.academy/?aaid=gYWrL#!jeremys-4-r-materia-medica-bundle/LJR99/c/JEREMY/ Season 2: https://tqfs.official.academy/?aaid=gYWrL#!jeremys-4r-materia-medica-bundle-2/LX5ZQ/c/JEREMY/ Season 3: https://tqfs.official.academy/?aaid=gYWrL#!jeremys-4r-materia-medica-bundle-3/z0k92/c/JEREMY/ If you would like to support the Homeopathy Hangout Podcast, please consider making a donation by visiting www.EugenieKruger.com and click the DONATE button at the top of the site. In this heartwarming and insightful episode of the Homeopathy 247 podcast, host Mary Greensmith welcomes Alexandra Ross, a homeopathy student living in rural West Cork, Ireland. Alexandra shares her personal journey into the world of homeopathy, starting with her experiences on her organic dairy farm and how her curiosity about animal health led her to a transformative path of study. From Cows to Clinics: Alexandra's Introduction to Homeopathy Alexandra's journey into homeopathy began not with people—but with cows. Living on a farm with her husband, she encountered situations where conventional veterinary approaches weren't effective. Through research and recommendations, she stumbled upon homeopathy for livestock and enrolled in a course in Germany. Her skepticism vanished the moment a cow in distress delivered a calf “like a bullet” after being given the remedy Caulophyllum. Encouraged by this experience and supported by a homeopathic vet, Alexandra's interest deepened. When her trusted vet retired, she realized she needed to learn more—not just for the animals but also for her family. Choosing the Path of Study Alexandra signed up for a home prescriber course at the Irish School of Homeopathy, which quickly turned into a full four-year commitment. What started as a practical step for supporting her children's health became a deeply transformative life experience. She describes the decision to study homeopathy as both a financial and emotional investment. Travelling to Dublin for in-person classes required planning and expense, but Alexandra values the energy and connection of being physically present with classmates and teachers. A Breakdown of the Four-Year Course Year 1: Students dive into the foundational remedies (polycrests) and philosophy. The Organon by Hahnemann serves as a guiding text. Assignments vary from essays to creative projects like drawings and poems. Year 2: Focus shifts to chronic care and miasms (inherited patterns of illness). Students begin working on real case studies and learn to analyze and prescribe based on deeper themes. Year 3: Students begin their supervised clinical work—seeing real clients while being guided by experienced mentors. Homework now comes from actual case documentation and consultation. Year 4: A continuation of the clinical journey with more responsibility and deeper integration of previous learning. Students participate in school-run clinics and are supported through one-on-one supervision. The Inner Transformation Beyond textbooks and remedies, Alexandra emphasizes how studying homeopathy changes your inner world. Emotional shifts, personal healing, and unexpected breakthroughs are common. Grief she had long suppressed surfaced during her studies, and through support from the school and her own homeopath, she began to truly heal. Alexandra says the friendships formed during the course are powerful and lasting—because everyone is growing, learning, and supporting each other in a shared journey. Advice for Those Considering the Course Her biggest advice? “If you're even a little bit interested, just try the first year.” Many students only take the foundation year and still walk away with a life-changing understanding of health and healing—even if they don't pursue a full license. How do you explain homeopathy to others? Homeopath Em Colley does it through stories and she's written a new book The Joy of Homeopathy to share that approach with the wider world!"Including over 30 real life stories, Em illustrates some of the everyday joys of life in clinic. From Em's first encounter when her horse's eye disease was declared incurable (yet healed following homeopathic treatment), through to working with clients who were told, ‘There's nothing else we can do', Em provides in this book first-hand experience that sometimes something else can in fact be done. And that homeopathy could be just that.”Connect with Em Colley https://www.emmacolley.co.uk/the-joy-of-homeopathy.htmlStrange Rare Peculiar is a weekly podcast with Denise Straiges and Alastair Gray discussing everything you REALLY need to know about homeopathy. On the Secret Witch Show today our guest is Marcus Fernandez. Marcus has been practicing and teaching homeopathy for over thirty years worldwide. His journey in homeopathy has been marked by dedication to both education and practice, having founded the Centre for Homeopathic Education (CHE) in London. Marcus's vision is to make homeopathy accessible to everyone. He firmly believes in empowering people to take charge of their families' health and well-being through homeopathy. His contribution to the field was recognized in 2021 when he was made a Fellow of the Society of Homeopaths for his outstanding service to the profession. In this episode, we explore Marcus's journey from aspiring rockstar to acclaimed homeopath. Diving into the science and art of homeopathy as a ‘magical' energy medicine system for self-healing, we studied some basic universal principles - such as ‘like cures like' - and historical and alchemical roots of homeopathy that make this ancient wisdom body effective. Providing an inspiring and compelling case for the ancient practice's relevance and efficacy in modern times, Marcus addressed some of the common doubts and fears about homeopathy - and fears that can come up around embracing more ‘magical' healing methods - making a stand for trusting our wisdom on what's ‘Truth'. He also offered practical advice on how listeners can incorporate homeopathy into their lives. What You'll Learn from this Episode: Homeopathic principles say that illness is really caused by ‘suppression' - differing to mainstream medicine, which often suppresses symptoms without addressing underlying issues, homeopathy seeks to treat the root cause, leading to true healing Homeopathy empowers individuals to heal themselves by aligning them with their internal truth and natural healing capacities, encouraging trust in personal intuition and holistic health practices The remedies work on the law of similars (‘like cures like') and, traditionally, involve highly diluted substances that retain the energetic essence of the original material, akin to principles in quantum physics (although science is still ‘catching up' to homeopathy) Remedies in effect take us back to times in our lives where we experienced trauma, so that we can ‘choose again' - whether to release the trauma or remain holding it Homeopathy is also something that's been doubted and ridiculed as ‘pseudo-science' which can have Secret Witches feel the fear of being judged as ‘lunatics' if they work with it - and yet, when we try it, our embodied experience often reveals that it works All the healing wisdom we need is already within us - we are not broken, we have all we need already - if homeopathy calls to us, we can try it out for ourselves and live into our own experience of it with an open mind and trust of our inner wisdom and truth Beginners can start with homeopathic kits and guides like Marcus's book "Homeopathy at Home," gradually exploring remedies for common ailments while understanding the principles and subtleties of holistic healing. Powerful Story of Patient Interaction Louise shared a powerful story about her interaction with a patient in a cancer hospital. The patient was bedbound, in pain, and had refused treatment multiple times. Louise used her curiosity and rapport-building skills to gain the patient's trust and eventually helped him reframe his perspective on life. She used a combination of thought field therapy and NLP techniques to guide him to a memory of a happy time, which helped him see the value in living. The patient subsequently agreed to have treatment and lived for many years after. Eldin discussed the concept of reframing and dissociating, emphasising the importance of changing one's perspective and emotions. He also asked Louise about her work as a lecturer and trainer, to which she responded that she trains future trainers and lectures on mental health and reframing perspectives, particularly with marginalised groups. Reframing Narratives and Embracing Differences Louise and Eldin discussed the importance of reframing narratives and challenging negative self-perceptions. They emphasized the role of humor and curiosity in teaching and coaching, highlighting its ability to disarm and create a safe environment for learning. They also discussed the need to recognize and celebrate individual differences, particularly in relation to neurodivergence. The conversation concluded with a discussion on the importance of not labeling individuals as having "special needs," but rather acknowledging the support systems they have had. Alexandra C. Melo (PhD) is a Homeopath and Microbiologist (PhD) practicing in London and worldwide online. Following her PhD in King's College London in Applied Microbiology and subsequent Post Doctoral position at Glaxosmithkline she embarked on a quest of finding the optimal approach to health. She has found the Homeopathic approach to be most complete, bringing real and lasting health benefits as it focuses on the cause of disease, rather than just the superficial removal or suppression of symptoms. She loves homeopathy, because it focuses on the study of Nature! Given her academic background, she thoroughly enjoyed embarking on the most incredible learning journey; the healing secrets of the energetic contents of every substance on this planet, everything is a clue, every substance can be curative. There is the structure initiated by the mineral Kingdom, the sensitivity of plants in the Vegetal Kingdom, the competitiveness of the animal Kingdom and the liberation of stuck, deep miasmic states that the nosodes allow. Since she was a child, she always loved children and animals (particularly horses and dogs). Whilst living in Greece became involved with many rescue operations and as a horse lover and rider my interest fell particularly on horses, dogs, amongst other animals. Children's health is one of the most concerning aspects of parenthood. Although homeopathy works well in variety of diseases, it has special affinity for childhood problems. With over a decade of experience working with paediatricians and veterinarians she still finds remarkable to see how people and creatures respond to this wonderful system of medicine Website: https://alexcmelo.com/ Facebook group Farm Animals and Homeopathy: https://www.facebook.com/groups/farmanimalsandhomeopathy Ebook on Homeopathic Aid for Horse Owners and Riders: Homeopathic Aid for Horse Owners & Riders Profile on Homeopathy 24/7: Dr. Alexandra Melo | Practicing Classical Homeopath If you would like to support the Homeopathy Hangout Podcast, please consider making a donation by visiting www.EugenieKruger.com and click the DONATE button at the top of the site.
