EP 24 Tee Hollow Wants You to Feel Something

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 10, 2019 38:16

Tee Hollow is an Austin based photographer and creator of the Love. Every. Body Project.  Amidst the body positivity movement he saw popping up, he wanted to give people the ability and experience to view other bodies without any overlay of a viewpoint of how they should feel or what they should think.  He provides a neutral space for people to simply come experience seeing other bodies and with just one goal, to hopefully, feel something they haven't felt before.  To examine those thoughts and feelings, and maybe, to connect with others who don't look like them through the story that's told along with the photos.   Tee can be found on Instagram or on his website.

Women's embodiment of their emotional lives and expression have been overrun by our logical, rational minds, but dealing with our emotions with our minds leaves us feeling stuck and disconnected. Emotions are meant to be felt, and we feel things through our body, which is why dance and movement are an excellent way to reconnect with your body, emotions and felt experience- something most of us are deeply lacking in our lives.   Bernadette Pleasant has created Femme!;  a dance, movement and meditation practice that provides women the experience to reconnect with their full self through embodiment and connection to emotions and honoring our bodies.  Femme! is an experience, brand and lifestyle movement that passionately fuses sensual movement, dance, meditation, creative visualization and celebration of the human form. Femme! is inspired by African, Tribal and Free Dance interwoven with the somatic and primal healing arts. Femme! creates sacred, safe spaces and invites everyone to reclaim and boldly display their power. You can find Femme on the web, on Instagram, Youtube or Facebook.    To learn more about my work, you can visit my website or Instagram.  You can book a Body Breakthrough Session here.

When it comes to what we've been taught about food, we typically look outside ourselves to the latest fad, the hottest expert or the quickest weight loss scheme to tell us how to and what to eat.   Given just how many weight loss attempts and failed eating plans I hear about (and the stats give us proof!) I don't think that looking outside ourselves for answers is quite the right recipe.  What I know DOES work, is to listen to your internal, hard wired, always communicating, Body Soul Wisdom.  Inherent to this wisdom is what I call your Body Compass- and you can work with it to ask yourself If you'll allow yourself to eat how you like rather than asking if you CAN eat how you like.   You are the only authority on you.  No one else can answer whether or not you CAN eat how you like, only you can answer whether you will ALLOW yourself to eat how you like.   If you want some support and guidance in tuning into your own Body Compass and re-engineering the way you approach food, health, body & confidence, schedule a Body Breakthrough Session and we'll start your own Body Compass Roadmap.

Chantel is a mother I admire for staying true to her values and beliefs related to organic food, earth based living and being eco-conscious while also raising a child.  After the birth of her son, Chantel launched earthbasedmom.com where she blogs about a variety of topics from romantic relationships to vaccines to healthcare for women.     Chantel's website: www.earthbasedmom.com Chantel on Insta: @radiclewomenblog   In this episode, Chantel and I discuss what it was like for her as a new mom and now a mother of a toddler to make her own self care a priority while taking care of her son.   I love the strategies we discuss here and the ways that Chantel approached her own motherhood and parenting in exactly her own way and just how at peace she is with that.  I hope you find inspiration and permission in this episode to care for yourself and your children in exactly the way that works for you, rather than an outmoded idea of how you "should" be a good mom.  You can find me at: http://bodysoulwisdomschool.com/ And if you're ready to build new strategies & behaviors that will have you stop fighting with food and feeling at war with your body, you can book a Body Breakthrough Session here

Marie-Elizabeth has such a profoundly cool story of being a woman who really bought, what she calls, the inherited life.  She lived how so many of us do, the right job, marriage and lifestyle, looking to activities and behaviors outside herself that failed to bring the kind of soul satisfaction and embodied life she was truly craving.  Marie-Elizabeth discusses how fully she has changed her approach to her body & health and how multiple injuries required her to really stop and consider how she was relating to her body and how she could transform that behavior in a way that genuinely had her feel connected and alive.   Marie-Elizabeth is a life coach I coach for women, working to bring out their true selves and allowing that to design their lives instead of living an inherited life that doesn't fit who they are and having to split themselves in order to survive. There is a misguided, and even destructive idea, that when it comes to our bodies & health,  the numbers are really the thing that matters- the number on the scale, the numbers on your lab work, the number of calories, how many macros you're consuming, etc, etc.   It can start to feel like this human, organically constructed body you live in is merely a thing to track, control and keep inside the right ranges as defined by someone else's measures for you.   Instead, there's a way to build health and vitality that focuses on being in relationship with your body, with your compass pointed toward vibrancy and pleasure that creates a holistic and affirming connection with your body soul wisdom, rather than whittling it down to mere numbers and parts.
