Does Jesus' fulfillment of the old covenant mean that we have freedom to do what we want? According to 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, Paul says that our perceived "freedom" has its limits, specifically in regard to the physical body and sexual immorality. In this sermon Pastor Ulysses dives into the arguments Paul has against the Corinthian perspective when it comes to this topic.
We mommas all know the ups and downs of toddlerhood well. The classic tantrums and meltdowns, opinions, extra large emotions over the littlest things, and need for consistency. We also know what happens when they don't get that consistency and it means we better have the right mindset for the day or else it's going to be a bumpy one. Well guess what? Your body is no different from the toddler years. Our bodies crave that routine, consistency in foods, and nourishment so it feels safe and well cared for. Can our body throw a tantrum? Well, it can begin to show you it's unhappy if you're paying attention to the signals. If you continue to not listen, the tantrums only get louder and more consistent. Eventually the body gives up and just expects that you will continue in this way and that leads to loads of inflammation- or in many of our cases weight gain. In this week's podcast I talk about how to navigate the holiday season when we are in the midst of shopping for gifts, report cards, new units, assessment, and day to day teaching. We have that gravy and pumpkin pie in November and it continues to roll along through the next month, leaving us worried about what this will do for our weight loss progress. It is compared to a perfectly constructed boat meant to cross the ocean of material existence for the purpose of self realization. We can allow our soul to reach its potential when we develop a relationship of service with our body by being its caretaker and creating quality time to check in with its needs of safety, movement, and nourishment.
