In this episode, we have a returning guest who appeared back in July 2023 (Episode 353). Ignacio Salazar, CEO of Highfield Resources, who are an ASX listed potash company which focuses on the construction of its flagship low cost, low capex Muga Project in Spain and is forecasted to be one of the highest margin potash mines globally. Ignacio has a background in economics and law and has worked in the O&G industry with Shell before moving over to the mining industry back in 2009. As the CEO of Highfield Resources since 2020, Ignacio tells us more about the company and the journey he has been through, a current update on the project and the potash industry and what the vision is for the company. EMR Capital (has a stake in Highfield Resources) is going to be attending the upcoming IMARC Conference in Sydney on the 29-31st October at the Sydney Convention Centre so there's a link below to purchase discounted tickets so you can meet like minded mining professionals at the event so be sure to get your ticket soon. KEY TAKEAWAYS Highfield Resources is nearing the construction phase of its flagship Muga potash project in Spain, having successfully navigated the permitting and financing stages over the past four years. The company secured a binding deal worth €220 million (approximately $240 million) in equity financing, which, combined with previous funding, brings the total to €550 million, sufficient to cover the project's capital expenditure and contingencies. Highfield has formed strategic partnerships with investors, including a significant group from Asia, which not only provides capital but also enhances access to markets, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The potash market is expected to remain strong in the long term due to increasing global food demand and declining arable land. However, short-term challenges include fluctuating prices influenced by geopolitical factors, particularly the roles of Russia and Belarus in the market. BEST MOMENTS "We are now practically ready, shower ready, as we like to say, for construction... huge, huge, big ticks on the boxes for permitting and financing." "This deal is about the 200 million euros from a group of investors plus there is an M&A transaction... done at a premium to our share price." "The only way you can be more productive with less land to feed more people is through fertilisers, not like potash, nitrogen, phosphates." "We will be sixth, seventh global player globally in ranking... very confident that we really have the ingredients to make it successful." Highfield Solar has secured project financing to fund the construction and operation of two additional Solar PV projects with a total capacity of 132 MWp. This milestone follows the financing of four other projects in Ireland, totalling 473 MWp. Since July 2021, Highfield Solar has secured over €400 million in cumulative debt funding for more than 600 MWp of solar projects in Ireland. Highfield Solar Limited, a joint venture between renewable energy developers ib vogt, Highfield Energy, and Aura Power, together with Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A., have successfully reached financial close for the 70 MWp Clonin North and 62 MWp North Arklow solar PV plants. Highfield Solar and Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A. have successfully continued their collaboration with this financing, having previously financed a portfolio of 473 MWp across four solar projects: Rathnaskilloge (106 MWp) and Gaskinstown (93 MWp) in December 2023, and Rosspile (138 MWp) and Gillinstown (136 MWp) in July 2021. Both the Clonin North and North Arklow projects were successful in the Government of Ireland's second competitive Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS 2) auction run by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications in 2022. The RESS auctions are designed to promote investment in renewable energy, supporting Ireland's goal of achieving 80% renewable electricity by 2030. Highfield Solar is proud to be contributing to this critical target on Ireland's path to decarbonisation. As part of the RESS scheme, local communities, clubs, and societies will benefit from approximately €100,000 in annual funding for the next 15 years. Matheson LLP supported Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A. through the transaction, and technical advice was provided by Krug & Schram. Further advice was also provided by Howden Group. Highfield was again supported by Mason Hayes and Curran LLP, Augustus Cullen Law and Crotty Group. "We are delighted Highfield Solar has reached this significant milestone and we are now looking forward to the continued roll-out of our portfolio. This is the result of years of planning and investment in these projects. We have enjoyed a very positive relationship with our partners in Highfield Solar, ib vogt, and Aura Power, and their experience and knowledge allied with our own has been invaluable. As a company founded in Ireland, we are hugely proud of our role in continuing to attract such significant investment into the country for renewable electricity generation projects. It is also very important to us that the establishment of the associated community benefit funds will make significant contributions to the locality over the next decade and beyond", says Peter Kavanagh, Managing Director of Highfield Energy. "The Clonin North and North Arklow projects mark an exciting new chapter in our successful joint venture, helping to build some of the largest solar plants in Ireland," said Anton Milner, CEO of ib vogt. "We are deeply grateful to our financing partners for their vital role in advancing clean, renewable energy across the country. These projects not only deliver significant ecological and economic benefits but also contribute to long-term, meaningful change for the local communities. With the support of the RESS scheme, we are optimistic about the future of solar energy in Ireland and the lasting positive impact it will bring." "The Irish solar market is now one of the most exciting in Europe and the scale of these projects is a testament to that. We look forward to seeing these projects reach energisation, along with many more in our development pipeline." says Simon Coulson, Director at Aura Power. Project Details With a total capacity of 70 MWp, the Clonin North solar PV plant will be located on a ca. 70-hectare site near the village of Rhode, County Offaly. The North Arklow site, with a capacity of 62MWp, will be located near the town of Arklow in County Wicklow. The projects will utilize high-capacity bifacial modules on fixed-til...

Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss one of the canonical figures from the history of political thought. Marsilius of Padua (c1275 to c1343) wrote 'Defensor Pacis' (The Defender of the Peace) around 1324 when the Papacy, the Holy Roman Emperor and the French King were fighting over who had supreme power on Earth. In this work Marsilius argued that the people were the source of all power and they alone could elect a leader to act on their behalf; they could remove their leaders when they chose and, afterwards, could hold them to account for their actions. He appeared to favour an elected Holy Roman Emperor and he was clear that there were no grounds for the Papacy to have secular power, let alone gather taxes and wealth, and that clerics should return to the poverty of the Apostles. Protestants naturally found his work attractive in the 16th Century when breaking with Rome. On this week's episode of The Rural Woman Podcast™, you'll meet Victoria Lee.Basil Ranch has been providing fresh herbs and produce to restaurants and grocers since 1996. Victoria took over the reigns in 2015 and saw an opportunity to grow the produce we were providing using hydroponics as a solution to food security in our northern climate. Their indoor hydroponic farm ran year round in the heart of Inglewood, providing fresh greens and mushrooms to local restaurants and grocers. Basil Ranch's goal was to contribute to the city's food security by using low tech, highly sustainable hydroponic food systems. In November of 2023, Victoria decided to scale back to the things that are near and dear to her heart and closed down the hydroponic farm to focus on the edible flower farm located in the heart of Highfield, on a City of Calgary Urban Farm Project. In this episode we chat to Ignacio Salazar, CEO of Highfield Resources, who are an ASX listed potash company which focuses on the construction of its flagship low cost, low capex Muga Project in Spain which is fully permitted. Ignacio has a background in economics and law and has worked in the Oil & Gas industry with Shell before moving over to the mining industry back in 2009. At the helm of Highfield Resources, Ignacio tells us more about the company, its journey and what they are looking to achieve plus also an update on what is happening in the Spanish mining industry. KEY TAKEAWAYS Ignacio specialises in mining in Spain, but his experience has seen him oversee projects around the world, allowing him a broad perspective and unrivalled skill set in the mining sector. The similarities between oil and gas, and mining, are many as they both require upfront investment and both explore the planet for the resources on offer. Regionality matters and so do the size of the players. Highfield is an ASX listed company, and prefers to focus on one project in Spain - two autonomous operations. Potash and its resultant fertiliser uses are in great demand around the world, even though it may not be as well known as other mined materials. BEST MOMENTS 'I moved quickly to upstream oil and gas' 'Fertiliser is a very key commodity' 'The permitting is all behind us' 'We are shovel-ready!' Free Stuff: https://livemyhappyhealth.com/free Heal People Pleasing: https://livemyhappyhealth.com/becominglight Money amplifies who you are, which means that you can apply your values to your wealth. Want to give more? Great, more money allows you to do that. You can make really good money while doing what you love, and you can still be a good person while doing it. We all have money stories that create discomfort and incongruence within our bodies and that keep us playing small and probably poor. You can be ethical and build wealth. Healing your relationship with money allows you to charge appropriately, increase profitability and serve more people because you are more resourced. Your determination to struggle by refusing to heal your relationship to money isn't actually helping anyone, because when you have more you have more to give. Getting Josie on this show has been a long time coming. With almost two decades of recruitment marketing expertise, the majority in a single company, we have wanted to dive into her experiences creating customer-first, purpose-led marketing strategies for a long time. Tragically, this didn't happen when we originally planned because Josie's husband, Sam, had just been informed that his treatment for bowel cancer was not working. Sam passed away in September 2021. But Josie still wanted to join us on the show, after leaving Gattaca and joining the company Sam co-founded - Highfield Professional Services. Not just to talk about people-centric marketing, design-led thinking, nappy designs and building an employer brand service before it was cool - but how we all deal with loss. We'll be forever grateful for Josie opening the door to an incredibly personal subject and her insight into marketing, career choices and purpose. And thank you to Paiger for their continued support to allow these conversations to happen.
