From the captivating notion that 'plants invented sex' to the orgasm gap and the transformative power of pleasure, my conversation with Kiana Reeves takes us on a journey through the realms of our most basic desires. Kiana Reeves, a renowned somatic sex educator, and Chief Education Officer at Foria, brings a unique perspective to the conversation. With over a decade of experience in studying sex, embodiment, intimacy, pleasure, and wellness, she takes us on a journey that traces back to the very essence of life itself. Tune in to this episode: Sex, Love, and Plants with Kiana Reeves Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Intimacy is more than just the act itself. It's about deepening connection, bonding, and experiencing a myriad of neurochemicals like oxytocin and dopamine, which are connected to pleasure and orgasm. ✔️ sex isn't just about pleasure—it's also a form of wellness. Viewing sex through the lens of wellness reframes it from being an 'extra' activity in our production-driven society to an integral part of holistic wellbeing. ✔️ The orgasm gap is a critical topic that needs addressing. Kiana highlights the discrepancy between men's and women's orgasm rates, stressing the importance of bridging this gap for women to genuinely enjoy and desire intimate experiences. ✔️ Breasts are not just a physical attribute but a deeply sensitive and fluctuating part of our body. It's vital to give them the care and attention they deserve, especially given their tenderness. ✔️ Embracing self-love is essential. The body deserves love and appreciation in its unique form. Kiana Reeves is a Somatic Sex Educator, Doula, Intimacy and Relationship Coach, and the Chief Education Officer at Foria. She is a teacher, practitioner, speaker, and leading voice in the sexual wellness movement. For over a decade, Kiana has been studying sex, embodiment, intimacy, pleasure, birth, and wellness. Her work in this field ultimately led her to join Foria as Chief Education Officer, where she has helped grow and shape the brand over the last five years. Her approach is holistic and includes the emotional, biological, social, and spiritual nature of sex & intimacy. Your intuition is something that's already in you. All it takes is for you to develop your connection to it, so you can make more powerful and aligned decisions. But accessing your intuition also means accepting that you won't be perfectly in tune all the time and challenges will still happen. But this doesn't make your intuition less powerful. What matters is how connected you can be through the ups and downs of life. Psychic medium and author Marilyn Alauria joins us to talk about how you can access your intuition with your physical senses and befriend it to guide you through life. Tune in to this episode: How To Use Your Intuition To Make Powerful Decisions with Marilyn Alauria Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Notice how you feel before you do something. Have you ever had a weird gut feeling before going to that party or answering that email, and once you did, something bad happened? That's your intuition teaching you to honor yourself and listen when these feelings come up. ✔️ Promise to trust for 30 days. Do this exercise if you're struggling to surrender. Take in all the information your intuition gives you and see how it plays out. Keep an evidence journal to record good things that happened. ✔️ Your body is the instrument of your intuition. Summon up a pleasant and an unpleasant memory and associate a color for each. Pay attention if any of those colors show up for you before you make a decision. You can also observe where in your body these feelings are showing up. ✔️ Following your intuition doesn't mean you're immune to hard experiences. Shift your mindset: Everything in life happens FOR you. Hard times have something greater waiting for you on the other side. ✔️ The universe sometimes puts you on an active pause for a reason. Your life isn't on hold, you're being prepared for your desires to manifest. Marilyn Alauria is a gifted psychic medium, teacher, and author of the book, “Guides: Mystical Connections with Soul Guides and Divine Teachers.” She has an unmatched capacity to ignite deep, soul-level transformation for her clients around the world. As the creator of Next Level Living and Soul Finder Academy, she has given us a clear action plan for developing our talents, following our purpose, fulfilling our dreams, and living in alignment with our souls. No matter your sexual preference, navigating marriage can be a challenge. It's important to know where you stand and the power you have in making your relationship your own. Creative powerhouses Sophia and Heleana Blackwell share their experiences as a married same-sex couple, how they handle problems and difficult tasks in their business, and the importance of aligning your marriage with what you want instead of what society expects of you. Tune in to this episode: Wife Material with Sophia and Heleana Blackwell Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Marriage isn't the endpoint of a relationship. Marriage provides safety and containment for a deeper exploration. ✔️ Marriage needs to be queered, no matter your preference. You don't have to submit to societal conventions. Be empowered to create your own traditions. Feel free to leave aside wedding practices that you don't feel comfortable doing. ✔️ There is happiness and joy in same-sex marriages. It's about time we break the myth that gay relationships are doomed to fail. Sophia and Heleana Blackwell aim to demolish the stereotype and proudly share their journey with the world. ✔️ Couples can make a business relationship work. This allows them to easily bounce off their ideas, take breaks, and focus on being a couple when needed. ✔️ Creative collaboration can open up different sides of people. It also encourages trying new things and taking on new challenges that you wouldn't have tried if it weren't with your partner. Whatever your gender identity and sexual preference may be, relationships come with ups and downs. But it's crucial to be firm in your values, know what you want the relationship to look like and how you want it to feel, and curate it to become an adventure that brings joy to you and your partner. Dear high-achieving people, this one's for you. You are the individuals who light up the world with your passion and zest for life. But there's a thin line between being driven and obsessive. It's so easy to fall into the inability to accept where we are now as we chase after the next accomplishment. Brandi Molitor aims to help energetic go-getters like you recognize your values, realign your life, and slowly enjoy the fruits of your labor. She joins us to share actionable tips and insights that you need to hear now! Tune in to this episode: Why We're Obsessed with the Next Rung of Achievement with Brandi Molitor Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Detach yourself from the outcome. Identify the root of your desire. What are you hoping for when you get there? What will it mean if you fail? Accomplishing your goal isn't going to fill the void or fulfill your unaddressed need to be loved and appreciated. ✔️ Check how you're showing up daily. Have you been taking care of yourself? Focus on what lights you up about your work and how you've been treating yourself. Let go of imaginary milestones – you get to set the rules. ✔️ Break out from the blueprint by asking why. Media has conditioned us to pursue the typical image of success: a house, kids, and a high-paying job. Look at your goals through a judgment-free lens and think: Is this what you truly want? ✔️ Walk yourself through the worst-case scenario. What would you do if you were unsuccessful in reaching your goal? What's the worst thing that could happen? Getting a clear idea will give you an objective view of what you'd have to deal with should the worst happen. ✔️ Not everyone is the best person to talk to about difficult decisions. Choose someone who is skilled in holding a safe conversation. A community or coach can see things through an outsider's lens and give healthy feedback. Brandi Molitor is a white, queer woman who is committed to living a life of truth. There's no denying it. Nice guys are toxic. Take it from emotional analysis and resolution coach Ashley Cox, who's been working with nice guys in taking back their personal power. Men get stuck in this unhealthy archetype in response to unattended childhood trauma and unmet needs. While it's impossible for women to force their male-bodied partners to change, they can make decisions that benefit the relationship while transforming it by showing up with more authenticity and honesty. Tune in to this episode: Why Nice Guys Don't Get What They Want (and What To Do About It) with Ashley Cox Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Be in touch with your rage and pain and get comfortable with it. Nice guys are afraid of becoming a threat. So they let go of taking charge. Ashley Cox advises men to be the protector against bad men, their partner's self-sabotage, and their own unaddressed trauma. ✔️ Be a safe place for your man to express himself authentically. Instead of poking his buttons, explore your disruptive behaviors that block him from showing his real self. Be vulnerable — go first. ✔️ Appreciate your partner's efforts! Men and women are wired differently by nature. If you see your man being receptive and trying, don't forget to praise him for that. ✔️ Women have more power than they realize. Not recognizing and disrespecting their efforts can hurt men emotionally and physically. In the end, both of you want connection. Work on building safety for it to happen! Many women want an emotionally connected man but most of us aren't ready to fully receive one. It's time to find ways to soften up and own your role in the relationship and give him space to show up for you. Ashley Cox MT, CTP-C, NLP is the first and only female international emotional analysis and resolution coach for ‘nice guys'. She guides 'nice guys' to use their unreciprocated relationship to create personal power and more wealth. In addition to getting and keeping their dream women, her clients have collectively generated millions of dollars from regaining their executive function and confidence after tackling subconscious blocks of fear, doubt, shame, guilt, anger, self-love deficit disorder, and pain with her. In today's world, the definition of femininity is being reshaped. Power dynamics in our relationships are shifting, and with that shift we need to reconsider how we approach women's success and leadership. Renowned transformational executive coach and feminine leadership advocate Ekene Onu shares that authentic femininity is not about conforming to societal expectations but about embracing one's true self. "Iconic womanhood" is about rising above the noise and redefining what it means to be a woman in a powerful position. Tune in to this episode: Soft and Strong with Ekene Onu Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Successful women, especially those in male-dominated fields, often face a 'social penalty'. This makes them downplay their achievements to fit into societal norms. Rather than performative femininity, it's time to advocate for genuine self-expression. ✔️ Masculinity is not about diminishing or overshadowing femininity. When men understand their noble role, they uplift and empower the women around them, and vice versa. ✔️ The dangers of perceiving femininity as merely ornamental. Femininity is not about just being looked at or adored; it has depth, purpose, and strength. ✔️ Masculine and feminine energies are not strictly tied to gender. It's about how we show up. While masculine energy is often seen as a boulder (strong and focused), feminine energy is like a flowing river (creative and intuitive). ✔️ Leadership attributes often ascribed to femininity such as nurturing, creativity, and intuition are powerful tools. They can be leveraged in business scenarios like project management, innovation, and gut-based decisions. Ekene Onu is a Transformational Executive Coach, DEI consultant and Feminine Leadership expert. Following a career of two decades in as a healthcare professional, she reinvented herself and underwent a personal revolution to reclaim her feminine power and choose to create a life of passion & purpose. She received her training from several notable institutions, such as Georgetown University and Cornell University. Welcome to the 100th episode of my podcast! It's amazing looking back at all the wonderful conversations we've had and seeing this show evolve from just being about relationships to how we relate ourselves with the world. Let me walk you through how our lives are all about optimizing my relationships from lessons I've learned working with a dog behaviorist. I assure you, this is going to be a juicy and eye-opening one! Tune in to this episode: Celebrating 100 Episodes with the 3 B's of Relationship Dynamics Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Consider what role you need to step into for the relationship. Does the moment call you to be a buddy, butler, or a boss? Rethink how you show up in both personal and business connections. ✔️ Your union is a separate entity. If it feels wonky, one or both of you could be out of alignment with it. Sit side by side and observe it from an objective lens. Identify what the union needs in that certain situation. ✔️ Serve the relationship, not the person. Seeing it this way allows you to have clarity around habitual pitfalls in your relationships and makes you self-aware of how you're presenting yourself. ✔️ There's power in recalibration. You don't need to chameleon yourself and sweep issues under the rug. Develop the skill of knowing and being flexible in giving what your relationships need. ———————————————————————————————— ★★★ About Marie-Elizabeth Mali ★★★ Marie-Elizabeth is the founder of Relationship Alchemy, where she helps growth-oriented women develop clarity and alignment with themselves and their vision, so they can attract or deepen their relationship with their ideal partner and create a fulfilling life without compromising who they are. ★ TAKE THE “YOUR GROWN-ASS POWER” QUIZ ★ For passionate women having a “Now what?” moment who are ready to turn on their unapologetic power. http://relationshipalchemy.com/power-quiz As a Relationship Alchemist, two-time TEDx Speaker, and host of the Relationship Alchemy podcast, Marie-Elizabeth Mali helps women communicate more effectively and transform patterns of thinking and behavior that get in the way of love, connection, and success in relationships and business. All our lives, we find ourselves on a journey for purpose. But with that journey comes the need for the willingness to change. Renowned keynote speaker and bestselling author Ken Foster guides us on harnessing the power of courage to elevate and improve ourselves. It's time we start using courage as an internal force. By channeling the strength that it brings, one can rise above challenges, and refocus on a positive trajectory. Tune in to this episode: The Courage To Step Into Your Greatness with Ken Foster Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Every choice made out of fear has a cost. It can create challenges and problems in our lives. Embrace the courage to make better choices that lead to joy, wealth, happiness, and a positive impact on the world. ✔️ To change, one needs to acknowledge and appreciate their present state. Don't forget to celebrate where you are while also being open to growth and improvement. ✔️ Quality questions can determine the quality of our life. By asking powerful questions, we can open our minds to new possibilities and tap into a deeper understanding of ourselves. ✔️ Childhood traumas act as rust over our innate genius. The journey is about removing this rust. We have to dive into the subconscious to release the buried traumas and negative patterns. ✔️ Everything is connected. Navigating relationships can get tricky for women entrepreneurs, especially if their spouses are building businesses too! Your relationship doesn't have to go down the drain as you aim for success. eWomenNetwork CEO and Founder Sandra Yancey shares her advice for fellow visionaries on how to keep the fire alive between you and your spouse while hitting those business milestones! Tune in to this episode: Making Working Together Work with Sandra Yancey Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Intentionally shifting your energy from CEO to wife is key. We underestimate the power of a transition ritual. Like how we prepare ourselves to meditate or worship, we need to ready ourselves for the various roles we play. ✔️ Be vocal about your wants and needs. If you're not in the mood to cook, say it. Don't expect your spouse to be a mind-reader. ✔️ Respect each other's sandboxes. It's best for both of you to ask permission if one of you needs resources from the other's business. Respect boundaries and practice making clear requests. ✔️ Create structures around meetings. Have a clear agenda and desired outcome and list off-topic ideas and concerns to be discussed in another session. This method works for both business and family meetings! What matters is for everyone to be mentally present. ✔️ The real test of love is how you handle difficult times. You have to learn how to find ways to stick together and work it out. Look back at what has helped you survive, so you can appreciate each other. As a successful, award-winning entrepreneur, speaker, and TV personality, Sandra Yancey is recognized as a Top 100 Difference Maker by The International Alliance of Women. Being a woman who grew up on welfare and bootstrapping her way to success as the CEO & Founder of eWomenNetwork, Sandra understands first-hand the struggles that entrepreneurs face on the road to happiness and financial success. Sandra's mission is to help one million women entrepreneurs each achieve one million dollars in annual revenue while showing them that you can still live a full life as a spouse and parent with plenty of fun. So many powerful female entrepreneurs struggle with finding the best relationship and striking the balance between love and career. While it's impossible to be the “perfect” partner, mom, and business owner at the same time, all it takes is being honest and realistic about what we want. African Shaman Makhosi Nejeser joins us to share her personal experience and expertise as a parent-slash-businesswoman. Get to know how she cultivated a healthy marriage that suits her needs and personality, and how you can do it, too! Tune in to this episode: Having It All: Success and Love with Makhosi Nejeser Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Shift away from roles and into responsibilities. Do a quarterly check-in on your vision as a family and where you want it to go while honoring each other's needs. Get everyone engaged with important aspects of the household, such as daily meals! ✔️ Be honest with finances. This money can be for activities or items that you as a couple or the whole family can enjoy. ✔️ Know each other's values and communicate through them. If you're the passionate, imaginative type while your partner's the realist, make him understand your plans by speaking his language. Present data. Weigh the pros and cons. I come to you today in a state of grief. I've recently lost a teacher and soul friend, Sally Kempton. With this recent loss, I've been reflecting on my teachings around love being the fundamental nature of life. Our current society has often glorified moving on and snapping out of grief as quickly as possible. But I invite you today to welcome this beautiful emotion into your heart and allow it… to help you explore the deepness of your ability to feel and get in touch with what makes you human. Tune in to this episode: Allowing Grief To Open You Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Grief is a portal into the depth of love beyond the physical. Although your deceased loved one is no longer in this world, grief is the connecting thread that binds you. As long as you keep kindling the fire, you'll never be apart. ✔️ Avoiding our emotions blocks us from accessing who we really are. Skating along the surface of our feelings leaves us with unfulfilling relationships. Don't be afraid of getting in touch with the raw love in your heart. ✔️ Let yourself grieve. Let it crack you open. Embrace its presence. Isn't it amazing that this beautiful feeling you have is the foundation of all life? ✔️ Use grief to teach you to discover the beauty of your heart. It shouldn't be anything to be ashamed of. Emotions connect us with other living beings. Find how grief feels in your body, and bring it back out into the world as love. When we're in a bad mood, we often create more wreckage than necessary. If we did things a little differently, we could make space to feel our feelings while keeping our relationships strong and connected. With only one day left on our Paris trip, my phone was stolen, and I was so focused on the pictures I lost that I was allowing it to wreck our last 24 hours of fun, until my fiancé Patrick put his foot down and I agreed to shift my state. We were able to navigate this tricky situation with tips that I'll be sharing to help you shift your mood and shield your loved ones from unnecessary conflict. Tune in to this episode: When You're in a Bad Mood. Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ When bad things happen, give yourself grace! Let people around you know that you need some space to decompress. This prevents you from venting your frustrations on your loved ones and prevents long-term wreckage. ✔️ Ready to shift? Try box breathing. But if you're not prepared to change, don't force it! If you're ready, do several rounds of inhaling, holding, exhaling, and holding, each one for the same count of (at least) four, depending on your comfort level with holding out your exhale. ✔️ Sweat out the bad mood! If breathing exercises aren't for you, get moving. Dance to your favorite song. Pound a pillow. Masturbate. Take a walk or do any rigorous physical activity to shift your state for the better. ✔️ Steer your attention somewhere else. When we're pissed, our attention tends to focus itself inward. The key is to get out of your head – step outside. Spend time in nature. Look at something beautiful. Pet cute puppies at the animal shelter. Do what feels good to shift your focus. Don't let your nervous system control you! You have more power to shift your state than you might believe. If you don't want to, no problem! Take your time, and consider how you could be affecting the people around you by choosing to stay where you are. It's a necessary part of our survival and moves us closer to the truth of what's really going on. ✔️ Free yourself from limiting beliefs! What are the habitual patterns that you would like to change? This could be what is holding you back from imagining a better possibility for your life. ✔️ Consider how oppression shows up in your life. You could have liberated yourself from your family's oppressive conditioning but it reoccurs in your workplace or a spiritual community. ✔️ Be independent as you exist in the world. Being free involves interrogating all the different ways you're imprisoning yourself – in your thinking, conditioning, and societal expectations. What are some spots in your life that you want to be free from? Take the first step in showing up that honors yourself and others and create that space of freedom. Conscious living means being aware of your beliefs, feelings, and perception of your current situation and making aware choices. That said, having this level of self-awareness doesn't guarantee sunshine and rainbows in your relationships. You or your partner could still be making decisions on auto-pilot. Best-selling author and Conscious Living coach Jackie Woodside shares her expertise on how to be conscious in every aspect of your life, break your ego-addiction, and develop mindfulness through different techniques. Tune in to this episode: Elements of Conscious Relationships with Jackie Woodside. Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Master your ego. Even without a substance addiction, you could be hooked on being always right. If there are problems that repeatedly surface in your life, you could be the issue — which is a hard and necessary pill to swallow. ✔️ Apply conscious habits in your daily life. Work with a therapist or a coach. Do self-reflective and gratitude journaling. Meditate for at least a minute to center yourself and release stress (quick but effective!). ✔️ Be committed to each other's happiness. Let whoever feels the strongest about something win! Let go of the need to always get your way. Stepping back and asking for a neutral outsider's opinion can also help. ✔️ The health of the relationship is top priority. Make choices for the good of the relationship instead of clinging to your personal agenda. ✔️ Don't make the other person wrong for what you need. Clearly communicate what you want and don't force it on your partner if they're not ready to change. Jackie Woodside is a USA TODAY and four-time Amazon bestselling author, TEDx speaker, international trainer, and professional coach. She is the founder of the Curriculum for Conscious Living and the Conscious Living Summit, and trains coaches around the world to deliver this life-changing work. Do you feel like nothing is working out for you in business and relationships? The external world and people in it are usually mirrors of a message you need to hear. If you've been having the worst dates and low-balling clients (or lack thereof), it has to do with your mindset and how you show up. Joya Dass, founder of the Women's Leadership Lab, shares her expertise on raising your vibration and becoming a magnet to your desires, getting rid of imposter syndrome, and creating space for what you want. Tune in to this episode: Become What You Wish To Attract with Joya Dass. Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Shift internally for the universe to match your song. Work on being that person your ideal partner would want to date. It all starts with you. You don't have to force it. Instead, make space for your desires to come to you. ✔️ Enjoy your own company. Self-love and self-sufficiency are the foundation of a healthy relationship. Once you realize you're a co-creator, you'll see that you can have anything you want. ✔️ Beat imposter syndrome with this hack. Share your knowledge! Choose a format that suits you best — a podcast, blog, or short and long-form video. This allows others to see what it would be like to be in your world. Content can invite like-minded people to join in on your fun! ✔️ Do this when you're in a low-vibe state. Instead of trying to clean yourself up, tune in and deeply feel what you're feeling. Face the problem first so you can naturally rise to high-vibrational energy. Joya Dass is the Founder of the Women's Leadership Lab. She was a long-time news anchor in New York City, covering business news from the floor of the stock exchange. Today, she heads up a business mastermind for women.
Each of us is living in our own timeline. The pressure to follow the same path and timeline as everyone else is an illusion. Just take a breath and say this aloud: “Tough titties!” In this episode, award-winning copywriter and Talking Shrimp founder Laura Belgray shares her challenging experiences growing up, the stress of fitting in among cliques, finding her soulmate (unexpectedly!), and why the world needs more of your stories. Tune in to this episode: Tough Titties with Laura Belgray Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ People grow and change. In any environment, everyone we've met can transform and have different behaviors and interests as life goes on. Someone who may have been harsh to us back then can do better in the present. ✔️ Tough Titties is a rejection to conform to societal timelines. There's nothing wrong with being a late-bloomer. What we want comes to us in its own time. ✔️ Don't put all your eggs in one basket. When looking for your special someone, date multiple people at the same time. Have distractions so that this person you like doesn't become your sole focus. This allows things to ripen in their own time. ✔️ Practice energetic agility. It can be tricky to shift your energy from what you're hyper-focused on to a loved one that needs your attention. Look for ways you can make the transition more smooth. It can be a few deep breaths or verbally letting them know how you feel. ✔️ You have so many stories in you! Stories are great tools for selling or commanding a room. There's no such thing as a boring life. Let the world know your truth! ✔️ Choosing the right relationship is a service. You want to be in one that welcomes your authentic self and encourages your partner to be real, too. When people are comfortable in their own skin, they pass this energy on to others, creating a positive ripple effect. Laura Belgray is founder of Talking Shrimp, co-creator of The Copy Cure, and author of Tough Titties: On Living Your Best Life When You're the F'ing Worst. An award-winning copywriting expert, she helps entrepreneurs find the perfect words to express and sell what they do in a way that gets them paid to be themselves. Through her work with hundreds of clients (including online biggies like Marie Forleo and Amy Porterfield) she's seen firsthand that putting “you” into your copy and all through your business is pure magic for getting people to love you up, share your ideas, and happily click your Buy button. In addition to online types, Laura's list of clients and credits include NBC, Bravo, HBO, TBS, Fandango, and many, many more. So if you watch TV -- and don't skip the commercials -- you've probably seen her words on air. Tough Titties, her first book, came out via Hachette in June, 2023. Today's episode is inspired by a quote I read the other day from screenwriter Shonda Rhimes: “I am not lucky. You know what I am? I am smart. I am talented. I take advantage of the opportunities that come my way. And I work really, really hard. Don't call me lucky. Call me a badass.” We have this rampant habit among women of shrinking ourselves because we think it will make others feel comfortable around us. Now's the time for you to quit it and start embodying your full worth! Tune in to this episode: Quit Downplaying Your Accomplishments Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Make your own version of Shonda Rhimes' quote. Like this: “I am not _____. You know what I am? I am _____. I am _____. I take advantage of _____. And I _____. Don't call me _____. Call me _____.” Be sure to choose words that resonate with you. ✔️ Know the truth of your brilliance! Without your efforts, you wouldn't be where you are today. Every day for at least 30 days, read aloud the above acknowledgment you've written for yourself and let it transform your vibration. ✔️ Be anchored in your power. Do you wonder why the sales didn't happen or you keep attracting the wrong people? It's because you haven't embraced the wonders of who you are. ✔️ Knowing your worth isn't arrogance. It's confidence. And it doesn't have to mean being bigger or smaller than others. Just be the right size that tells the truth of your story. --------------- ★★★ About Marie-Elizabeth Mali ★★★ Marie-Elizabeth is the founder of Relationship Alchemy, where she helps growth-oriented women develop clarity and alignment with themselves and their vision, so they can attract or deepen their relationship with their ideal partner and create a fulfilling life without compromising who they are. Seven years ago, our dog Phoenix started showing signs of fear aggression. We took her to a dog trainer that taught us this valuable practice to calm her down — which we later discovered also helped us create deeper connection, intimacy, and playfulness with one another! Hostility and irritability are usually rooted in being ungrounded in some way. With this simple practice of closing the gap, you can help your partner (and yourself!) relax and settle down, coming into greater connection again instead of spinning out into a fight. Tune in to this episode: Closing The Gap Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Your presence is enough. When your partner seems ungrounded, just sit near them in silence. Allow your calm nervous system to support their energy in settling. ✔️ Get playful when closing the gap. With each other's consent, of course! It can look like a bear hug, or gradually inching closer to your partner when they're raging, or speaking in a playful tone. ✔️ It takes courage to go first. Be the bigger person, not to gain power over them, but because you're more interested in contributing to having a connected relationship than you are in winning a war. ✔️ Apply this practice anywhere! In a more professional setting, you could breathe with a team member or client, or sit near them without saying anything. Contribute your relaxed energy to support them in settling down. This week on the Wealthy Wellthy Podcast, I speak with poet, underwater photographer, dancer, two-time TEDx Speaker, AND relationship coach, Marie Elizabeth. While that intro might make you think I spoke with a group of interesting people, it's just one dynamic, powerhouse of a woman….Marie-Elizabeth Mali. Drawing on her Master's Degree in Chinese Medicine, Marie-Elizabeth teaches people how to show up as authentic leaders in their relationships instead of twisting themselves to fit in. Her work is featured in Thrive Global, SWAAY, and Forbes. Marie-Elizabeth was introduced to me by a Wise Money client who just knew we would hit it off. She was right! From the first time we met, it was obvious we would be fast friends. Though married to “the perfect guy” and leading “the perfect life,” Marie-Elizabeth felt like she was dying inside. Thinking the dissatisfaction in the marriage was his fault, she made the tough choice and divorced. Feeling alone and deeply depressed post divorce, she chose to study the art and science of relationships. This work forced her to look within to discover that she was the cause of her relationship dissatisfaction. So that she could create the self and the partnership she wanted, she dedicated herself to the study of romantic relationships for three years. Marie-Elizabeth learned the elements that must be combined to create a healthy, fulfilling relationship. She calls this: Relationship Alchemy. In this episode, Marie-Elizabeth shares her story of discovery and the method she uses to help people transform their relationships into a loving and harmonious partnership. Anyone who has ever felt “there should be more to this relationship,” or who simply wants to learn to build more intimate and meaningful relationships will want to listen in! Rudeness is on the rise. While it seems easier to let our emotions get the best of us, doing this takes us out of alignment from a life of peace and joy. Sam Horn, author and CEO of the Intrigue Agency, graces the show and shares valuable tips on what to say (and not say) when you just don't feel like talking, and how to prevent tricky situations from getting worse. We can't control outside circumstances, but we can control how we respond and what we say. Tune in to this episode: Talking on Eggshells—What to Say When You Don't Know What To Say Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Never use “but” in a disagreement. This signals an explanation that comes across as an excuse. It also signifies that you aren't holding yourself accountable for what happened. ✔️ Apologizing doesn't mean you're responsible. It's a way to acknowledge the other person's inconvenience. Giving them compassion avoids further conflict. ✔️ Say “Yes” more often. Instead of telling children, “No, you can't do this.” Give them a condition that they need to accomplish before they can get what they asked for. ✔️ Be more specific. Avoid sweeping generalizations. Find out the root of the issue and address it before jumping to conclusions. ✔️ No one can make us angry without our consent. We all have control over our own emotions. You have that power. ✔️ Set boundaries without getting angry. You can use non-verbal cues to get people to back off when you feel like a boundary has been crossed. --------------- Sam Horn, CEO of the Intrigue Agency, is a 3-time TEDx speaker and author of 10 books - including her newest available in June, Talking on Eggshells, plus Tongue Fu!, POP!, Washington Post bestseller, Got Your Attention? - that have been featured in NY Times, Fast Company, Forbes, on NPR, and taught to Intel, Cisco, Oracle, Capital One, Fidelity, and Accenture. Richard Branson's New Now Leaders, TED Fellows, NASA, and EO have all hired Sam to coach their executives on media training and public speaking. Many of us caring-oriented people often stay longer in conversations longer than what feels good to us. And you just don't leave because the other person really wants to connect! What ends up happening is you get frustrated and release it to your partner – and that's not good. Here's my piece on how you can leave the situation with kindness and compassion. Tune in to this episode: When You Don't Feel Like Talking Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Develop a lexicon as a cue that you're at maximum capacity. For my partner Patrick and I, it sounds like, “Hey, I'm full.” This allows us to seamlessly end our talk or transition to another topic. ✔️ Give each other permission to be honest. This prevents the other from taking it too personally. ✔️ Leave conversations effectively. We all can get sensitive to feeling abandoned or rejected. Express how genuinely interested you are but your bandwidth is unable to take in more. The other person will feel comfortable employing this technique with you and others too. ✔️ It's a kindness to be true about what's happening to you. Talking to somebody who doesn't want to be there feels terrible. Agreeing on a signal prevents conflict and creates room for more intimate conversations in the future. --------------- ★★★ About Marie-Elizabeth Mali ★★★ Marie-Elizabeth is the founder and CEO of Relationship Alchemy®, where she guides soulful professional women in personal and relationship transformation, so they can have more love and connection at home and a greater impact in the world. ★ TAKE THE RELATIONSHIP ALCHEMY ASSESSMENT ★ The relationship you desire is possible! Have you ever said something to your partner and thought, “I sound like my father,” or, “That's something my mother would say.” Epigenetics tells us that we tend to pick up tendencies and recurring issues that we heard and experienced in our families of origin — especially with our parents. Therapist Johanna Lynn breaks down the importance of examining our family lines, how our current relationship problems could be the product of past conditioning, and what we can do about it. Tune in to this episode: Dropping 'The Story' - Understanding Intergenerational Influences on Relationships with Johanna Lynn Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Understand the influence of past generations. By exploring our ancestors' relationships and environments, we can uncover clues to our own patterns and behaviors. ✔️ Look at repeating relationship issues. Repeating arguments, boundary issues, communication problems, and people-pleasing tendencies are some common family issues that need to be examined. ✔️ Map out your three-generation genogram. Doing this can help you identify and understand how certain traits or behaviors have been passed down through your family lineage. ✔️ Practice self-awareness and acceptance. Once you become aware of your family conditioning and how it has influenced you, you can now work on accessing and embracing your authentic self. ✔️ Heal through connection. Openness and vulnerability gives you a chance to improve family dynamics and foster a deeper relationship with your loved ones. --------------- Johanna Lynn is a highly trained systemic therapist who offers resolutions for long-standing issues to participants in online classes with a focus on dismantling family patterns, restoring relationships, and cultivating resilient boundaries. It can be hard to get over people, right? The end of a relationship, going through the aftermath, disconnecting, and disengaging are things we might feel impossible to overcome. Go easy on yourself. Today, I'll be sharing three pieces of advice you can apply to start letting go. Tune in to this episode: Getting Over Somebody. Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Sing a sad song, and be done! This was said by a cousin of mine 30 years ago while I was bawling over a breakup. Allowing yourself to deeply feel the emotions helps you slowly detach from this person. ✔️ Snip energetic ties. Consciously and externally separating isn't enough. Cut that energetic bond using your imagination. Ensure you're ready to do this and be clear with your desired outcome. ✔️ Start taking actions that nourish you. Go back to nature. Eat healthy food. Give yourself a treat every now and then. This can help you transition back into your life and out of the breakup cave. Our bodies are our best friends. You may not know it, but it's always leading us to what's best. Activist, artist, and thought leader Sonya Renee Taylor shares her journey of listening to and practicing compassion with her body. This physical vessel we have never does us wrong, and the wealth of knowledge it provides us once we start paying attention creates so much joy and ease in our everyday lives. Tune in to this episode: Radical Self-Love with Sonya Renee Taylor Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Our bodies don't need language to understand energy. Before you can even make a bad decision, your body can prevent you from making it. It would take longer for your mind to process. ✔️ Your intuitive relationship with your body is a gift. Honor it. Your body knows better and is looking out for you. Symptoms don't mean you're broken. Tune in to this episode: 4 Questions To Elevate Your Relationships with Special Guest Dan Mangena on Necker Island Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Does the person properly represent you? Pick relationships that meet you at the level at which you hold yourself. They should align with your values and make you proud to call them your partner. ✔️ Does the person heal and lift you up? Avoid people who put you down when you're sharing your accomplishments and your challenges. Kids. Sex. In-laws. These are things that may come up in relationships. But the topic of money is always avoided. Bringing two individuals together with differing money stories can either become a catalyst for conflict or a start of a deeper connection. Real estate mogul and Millionaire Coach Krisstina Wise joins us to talk about how you and your partner can make finances a safe discussion and align your money with your dreams. Tune in to this episode: Love and Money with Krisstina Wise Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ It starts with you. What can you do? How can you grow? What can you learn about the fundamentals of money laws and money mechanics? It's also ideal if you can study these with your partner. ✔️ Money is the easiest thing to fix. Have the conversations, know the basics, go through your current numbers, set your dreams, and manage your money according to the roles you determine through a money date. ✔️ Savers and spenders can get along. Yes, you can make it work! As the saver keeps finances in check, the spender reminds them to invest money into the relationship. ✔️ Align and set goals. Be clear with what you and your partner want to achieve, how much you need, and what it takes to get there. When you know what you want, you can achieve anything. ✔️ A relationship requires business teamwork. Don't let it become the last frontier. Money causes so many problems when left by the wayside. But when given attention, it can be the fuel to the passionate fire of your relationship. --------------- Krisstina Wise is a mom of two, an avid runner, some would say a reading and learning addict, an obnoxiously loud and frequent laugher, and a woman on a big mission. How do you get someone to open up to you? Here's the tricky thing: When you come from a position where you HAVE TO get someone to open up to you, you're screwed. Just like with any other desire you have in your life, it all starts with you – your openness to receiving it, even if it doesn't turn out the way you want it to. Tune in to this episode: How To Get Someone To Open Up Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Speak with zero judgment. No name-calling or accusatory language. See where the other person is coming from. Be open to what both of you are expressing. ✔️ Be receptive, even if what they say hurts. Encourage them to tell you more. Don't invalidate their feelings but rather seek the truth. Thank them for speaking up. ✔️ Be a basin for love and openness. The intimacy flows when you allow it to come to you. Before difficult conversations, get rid of excess energy so you can receive your partner's feedback with compassion. ✔️ Don't squash the thing you desire. Everyone's expression is different. Whether it lands softly or hard, inviting it creates more depth in your relationship. What does it mean to be a man in the modern world? The tides are shifting. Roles are changing. And emotions and vulnerability are now at the forefront. Growing up in a machismo-focused household, award-winning author, speaker, and actor Carlos Andrés Gómez speaks his truth to inspire others and society as a whole to break generations of toxic gender norms. Hear his story and his ways of handling his relationships in the most balanced way. Tune in to this episode: Reimagining Modern Manhood with Carlos Andrés Gómez Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Art should be done within a community. Gone are the days of creating in isolation. Meeting new people, receiving feedback, and hearing different stories are what help us grow as artists and individuals. ✔️ Excavate, don't wrestle. The narrative calls for a more balanced view of gender roles. Be a good example to others so that younger generations can follow. ✔️ Master the dance of knowing each others' strengths. Your partner could have skills that are out of traditional gender norms or some that they just don't have the bandwidth to do. Work together to maintain balance. ✔️ Share your story. Speak your truth through your art. Allow your audience to empathize with you. Poetry and other forms of art are an investigation, not a fixed answer to the issues we face today. ✔️ Accept the glimmer of nonconformity. Be open to more nuanced discussions on gender roles and how it affects our authentic expression. Give yourself permission to go against the grain. --------------- Carlos Andrés Gómez is a Colombian American poet, speaker, actor, and equity and inclusion strategist from New York City. He is the author of Fractures, winner of the Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry, Hijito, winner of the Broken River Prize and a #1 SPD bestseller, and the memoir Man Up: Reimagining Modern Manhood, released by Penguin Random House. A star of HBO's Def Poetry Jam, TV One's Verses and Flow, and Spike Lee's #1 box office movie Inside Man with Denzel Washington, Carlos' honors include the Sandy Crimmins National Prize for Poetry, Atlanta Review International Poetry Prize, Foreword INDIES Gold Medal, and the International Book Award. There's so much romantic talk around soul mates. Most of us think that a soul mate is our perfect fit and that a life with them would be so easy and smooth. But that couldn't be farther from the truth. I want to clear up the fairy-tale-like ideas we have about soul mates and what I believe a true soul mate really is. Tune in to this episode: Your Soul Mate. Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ A true soul mate is a mirror. Elizabeth Gilbert said it best. They show you what's holding you back and bring them to your own attention so you can change your life. ✔️ Get clear on what you're here to do. Our soul is much more interested in what brings us to our true selves. You need to have intimacy with yourself before you can recognize your soul mate. ✔️ Soul mates are not forever. We can have more than one soul mate in this lifetime. They can also leave when their purpose has ended. It doesn't mean the relationship was a failure. The term “abundance” gets thrown around a lot but not everybody who uses the term actually embodies it in a grounded way. Success Mentor Rebecca Whitman breaks down seven major aspects to focus on to live a truly abundant life. Each aspect is interconnected and worth prioritizing to create a well-rounded and abundant life. Tune in to this episode: 7 Pillars for an Abundant Life with Rebecca Whitman Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Spirituality makes everything else work better. Having faith in something greater than ourselves gives us a chance to remember that everything works out in the end. ✔️ Prioritizing fitness helps everything else. When we feel better physically, we're more efficient, resourceful, and confident in our skin. ✔️ Prioritize noticing what you can be grateful for. Let go of fear-based thoughts by practicing gratitude every day. ✔️ Romance is everywhere if you're open to it. It's not always about relationships but rather about romancing life itself. There's beauty in every moment – whether you're single, dating, or married. ✔️ Growth means continuing to work on yourself. Fill your downtime with audiobooks and podcasts. The real work of growth also starts when you choose to be in a relationship. ✔️ Maintain your social circle, even when you're in a relationship. Find people who have what you want. If you do what they do, you can succeed too. Choose friends who want to grow with you, instead of focusing only on your relationship. ✔️ Finances follow when you're holistically aligned. Don't chase money to accumulate it, but to circulate it. Money affords you freedom to design the life you want and lift others up, too. --------------- Rebecca Whitman is a Success Mentor, graduate with honors from Princeton University, and author of internationally bestselling books, “Phenomenal Feminine Entrepreneurs,” “Business, Life, Universe” and “How to Make a Six Figure Income Working Part Time.” She was selected as Life Coach of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals. She hosts the top 5% globally ranked “Balanced, Beautiful, Abundant” podcast. Her philosophy divides life into 7 Pillars of Abundance which include: spiritual, physical, emotional, romantic, mental, social, and financial. Have the courage to verbalize it and see if things start to shift your way. ✔️ Expel that excess energy in fun ways! Pump iron. Throw weights on a padded floor. Scream into a pillow. Dance to an upbeat song. Go running. Masturbate. Have sex. Do anything that allows you to let that energy out! ✔️ Irritability isn't a character flaw. It's just a bodily cue that you need to do something about.
