So it turns out that my computer doesn't just automatically upload these things out of the kindness of its heart when I forget to and then months down the line I realise I never did click the button. (My Bad) In this episode we look at an independent bottling of an Islay single malt called Finlaggan bottled by the Vintage malt whisky company. We compare their standard bottling of Finlaggan to one of my favourites they do which is the port cask finish version. The whiskies we are trying are their Finlaggan Old Reserve release bottled at 40%. And the Finlaggan Port Cask Finish 46% I'd also like to thank the Vintage Malt Whisky Company for releasing these great whiskies. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. If you think it sounds fun or just want to shut me up check it out check out GNSradio now wherever you get your podcasts from or check out the teasers on here. Well after being marooned on an Island with no wifi to upload any episodes we're back and that's totally why we're late. (People don't really read these things anyway, do they?) In this episode we look at the English whisky company based in Norfolk in England funily enough. They were established in 2005 and if you want to know more listen to the episode I guess. The whisky we are trying is their Virgin oak small batch release bottled at 46%. I'd also like to thank the English whisky company for making this great whisky. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. In this episode we talk about Wire Works whisky from the White Peak distillery in Ambergate. We discuss their use of Brewer's yeast, cask interaction in different areas as well as looking at the stout casks used for this release, which previously held Pedro Ximenez sherry before the stout went in. The whisk(e)y we try in this episode is Wire Works Necessary Evil (2023). I'd also like to thank the White Peak distillery for making this great whisky. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. In this episode we talk about Drumshanbo single pot still Irish whiskey from the Shed distillery. We recap what a Pot still whiskey is, as well as some of the information regarding this relatively new distillery. The whisk(e)y we try in this episode is Drumshanbo. I'd also like to thank the Shed distillery for making this great whisky. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. In this episode we talk about a great Speyside whisky distillery called Craigellachie. We discuss their range of whiskies including the release we try, alongside worm tubs (not real worms) and take a slightly deeper dive into the role fermentation has on the end spirit flavour, and why sometimes leaving more of an undesirable aspect can be good in the long run. The whisk(e)y we try in this episode is Craigellachie 13. I'd also like to thank the Craigellachie distillery for making this great whisky. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. (And also Baseball) Yeah it's a lot of B's in this episode, but hey that's the way the alphabet works. In this episode we return to Bourbon, in particular a new distillery I have recently been trying which is Boulder distillery situated in Colorado. We discuss their range of whiskies including the release we try, alongside a quick recap of the rules to Bourbon in particular and Luke is once again amazed to find out that Bottled In Bond can be abbreviated to BIB. The whisk(e)y we try in this episode is Boulder BIB Bourbon. I'd also like to thank the Vapor distillery for making this great whiskey. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. In this, our latest episode, we talk about the latest release from the Ardbeg distillery. Ardbeg heavy vapours, a truly paradoxical whisky for me, in that I love everything about this whisky including the fact that I don't like the taste of it. (Yeah I know it sounds weird). Luke comes up with some fascinating insights into how he believes the whisky industry is run, and I try to get to the truth of the matters: Like how according to Luke, Aniseed is Sherbet. Finally we get to try Ardbeg Heavy Vapours. I would also like to thank the fine folks at Ardbeg distillery for making this great whisky. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Hello and welcome to the first ever episode of caskheads season 3. (I know, I'm impressed as well), anyway, in this episode we talk about Arran single malt whisky form the Lochranza distillery on the northern end of the Isle of Arran. We discuss their new range after the 25th anniversary shake up, we talk about their sister distillery on the southern end of the Island (Lagg), and we even try some Arran whisky. Well I do at least. The whisky we try is one of Lochranza distillery's cask strength releases, Arran 1/4 cask, which is initially matured in first fill American oak casks before spending a further maturation in 125ltr Quater casks. I would also like to thank the fine folks at Lochranza distillery for making this great whisky. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Well we're here, we're on time and it's our birthday. Caskheads is 3 years old (and a day) when this episode dropped, which is great because if we were in Scotland, if we were a distilled malt spirit and if we had been made matured and bottled meeting SWA regulations, we'd be a whisky. In this episode we talk about Hazelburn which is a triple distilled release by the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. We discuss the two most important events to have happened in 1997 (Sorry if you were born then, but I think we all agree it goes: Lost world Jurassic Park, then Hazelburn being released for the first time, after that fight amongst yourselves). This episode marks the end of season two for Caskheads but we will be back for season 3 soon. Finally we review not one but two Hazelburn whiskies, the standard 10 year old release alongside the 2023 12 year old Oloroso sherry cask release and although I forgot to thank them in the episode, thank you to the Springbank distillery for making this whisky. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Well we made it to February without forgetting to post an episode so here it is. In this episode we recap the Bruicladdich distillery on the isle of Islay, go down a rabbit hole for a while, talk about Hogshead casks and finally get to try a bottle of whisky I have been looking forward to for a while. Luke drops some caskwhisperer lore that stays in but some also remains for the bonus releases coming out soon. We review a private bottling of 16 year old Bruicladdich whisky that has been matured in a 250ltr Sherry Hogshead, bottled for the Weedram whisky shop in Bakewell. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Happy new year! It's 2023, which means I need to get something published or I won't have done anything this year. We talk about whisk(e)y for a change. However this time we focus on the Henstone distillery which is based in Shropshire, England. We look at their range of whiskies. Come up with a name for the initials of their bottler who shall forever be known as Ignacio Thealdrathorpe (to us at least). Oh and Luke reveals far too much about his inner catalogue of sweetshop flavours. Finally we review two releases. The Henstone single malt, Ex-Bourbon cask and the Henstone Old Dog Liquor. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Well we're here. It's December and that big day in so many people's lives is just around the corner... Our Episode release day obviously. yeah we like to keep you on your toes here at the Caffeine Addled Minds media Empire (Empire status Pending). Today's episode is all about Knockando distillery in Speyside, not to be confused with the Knockdhu distillery in the highlands which we covered a couple of episodes ago. We talk about whisky, we talk about Knockando and we even talk about Luke's niche facts that to be honest aren't facts as far as anyone other than Luke is concerned. Finally we review Knockando 12 year old single malt. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNSradio where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Hello and welcome back to Caskheads, a podcast for whisk(e)y about whisk(e)y. Today I have a guest co-host with me. We talk about whisky, but more precisely we talk about Mortlach, the distillery that distills 2.81 times, because why not? We also talk a little about the independent bottlers and owners of Edradour distillery, Signatory vintage. Alex asks some questions, some of them make it into the final cut and we even try a sample of Signatory Vintage un-chillfiltered Mortlach 2009. To find out more about Alex's off podcast exploits check out his youtube channel. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNS where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Hello and welcome back to Caskheads. Since we last recorded Luke and I actually managed to get up to Scotland and we made it to two distilleries. Find out about them, our trip and even (If you believe Luke) his encounter with Nessie. Now I know we've done a Tomatin episode before, but it has been a long time since then and this trip was Luke's first experience of a distillery so it went about as well as you can imagine. As if this wasn't already enough information to throw at you, we see just how many times we can shamelessly plug our projects, drop hints about our Instagram and even try a distillery exclusive bottling of Tomatin Virgin oak distilled back in 2014. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNS where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Hello and welcome, welcome to our latest episode. We talk about the Knockdhu distillery in the Highlands of Scotland, not to be confused with Knocando distillery in Speyside, there's nothing wrong with them but it's not their episode. Luke creates a theme song (for the wrong distillery). We talk about swamps, Alligators and mythical creatures who guard the distillery (in our minds at least). And Luke once again manages to break Jordan with his secret approach to Supermarket sweep. Finally we even talk about and taste the Ancoc 12 Single malt. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNS where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Hi we're back and yes it's a week late. Yes it's my bad, I don't know how but I just miss read a calendar as you do... Or maybe that's just me. In todays episode we talk about Corn whisk(e)y, The different requirements unique to this category of American Whisk(e)y and we even take a look at the Balcones distillery in Texas. Because why not? The whiskey we try is Balcones' Baby blue corn and Luke reveals he has a penchant for chowing down on those raw husks. Public opinion be damned! For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNS where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. Hello we're back. Just don't listen to Luke's intro, he's not me and I'm not him. In this episode we talk about the Balvenie distillery in Speyside, their in house quirks and more importantly their whisky! The cask whisperer makes an appearance. Luke confuses even himself and I try to get through it all without banging my head on a desk. We also try Balvenie 14 Caribbean cask finish. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNS where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. How many time can one spirit get distilled before it gets caught? Is Scruples a word? Why can't I buy Springbank's core range for a reasonable price? We cover these topics and more in this thrilling episode of... Caskheads. Also we talk about whisky from the Springbank distillery as well as Campbeltown and even sample some Springbank 10 years old. Hello and welcome back to Caskheads. A podcast for whisk(e)y, about whisk(e)y. Today we talk about the lowlands of Scotland and the distilleries within, from the three big producers who have been around for a while, to the newer up and coming distilleries some of which even have whisky for sale. Jordan forgets how to pronounce something, Luke flexes on microphone and we even talk about whisky some of the time. In this episode we review a single malt from Lindores distillery. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNS where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. In this episode we talk about many of the stages in whisk(e)y production where fires can and have happened. (It's just about every part). We talk about exampes where these have happened, we talk about the newer Star trek movies and we talk about Luke's in depth specialist knowledge regarding our podcast that we host together. We also review Lum Reek a peated blended malt and Luke throws some shade at the label. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNS where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. So we did it again and took a great big break but in my defence I am going to blame Luke because i'm the one writing this and he's not. In this episode we talk about the most amazing 1996 movie ever! Independence day with Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum in oh and seen as this is a whisk(e)y podcast we talk about the greatest spirit ever as well. The distillery we discuss is the Heaven Hill distillery in Kentucky and we even review Rittenhouse Rye. For those who enjoy our caffeine addled minds' creations I should also mention we have a second podcast which is fictional (or is it?) named GNS where an infinitely shadowy mega corporation with seemingly limitless amounts of money close to hand moves into a small town and slowly takes over. If you think it sounds fun or just want to shut me up check it out check out GNSradio now wherever you get your podcasts from or check out the teasers on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNh3_TnkOpErkPURqBoz_Qg For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Hello, we're back and talking about independent bottlers again, but this time a completely new company from any we have talked about before. Murray Mc David! We discuss a bit about the history of the company, their ranges available and even get on to trying some of their whisky. This week we review a 13 year old grain whisky from the North British distillery near Edinburgh which has been finished in some seriously nice port pipes. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Hello we're back after 50% of our regular hosts got COVID, which it turns out kind of makes it hard to record. Today we are talking about the Jura distillery located on the Isle of Jura off the coast of Scotland. We have a returning guest co-host because Luke is staying away for isolation reasons, Dad jokes, and even a first time caller long time co-host guest segment on top of all that. We even eventually sample Jura 18 year old! For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Hello we are here on your screens talking about the inaugural release from the White Peak distillery, located in an old wire factory in Derbyshire. We discuss crucial topics such as how many days old the BBQ smoke has to have set into your clothes to reach this particular phenolic level in the bottle as well as about the distillery and their releases. The whisky we are reviewing is The wire works whisky first release. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
HI all it's a quick one today, we are talking about GlenWyvis distillery up in the Highlands of Scotland and their first release. We learn a bit about the distillery and try their 2018 members' release. The reason for the shorter episode length is due to the younger age of the distillery leaving less to talk about, however we will be uploading a second 10 minute episode next week with the White Peak Distillery's own first release called the Wire works whisky so catch that one when it drops. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
So we're back I apologies we are a week (and a day) behind schedule but in my defence I (Jordan) was ill and editing is best done when you can concentrate without falling asleep. In this episode we finally get around to talking about the only distillery Luke seems to think exists and put to rest one of the greatest misinformation campaigns of our generation. There is no E in Tamdhu. The whisky we review this week is Tamdhu 12. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Hello and happy new year! we're back, it's 2026, nah i'm just messing with you, but the holiday season is over which means we're back on a schedule and more importantly our first episode of the new year is ready to drop. In this episode we talk about colour and its use in the whisk(e)y industry more specifically that old pesky E150, how it affects the flavour and experience of your whisk(e)y (if at all) and our own opinion on the subject (which is basically Jordan's whilst Luke rides the tangent express). The whisky we review this week is Beinn Dubh from the Speyside distillery given its rather apt use of colouring and the history predating this release in particular. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Waterford distillery? The Cathedral of Barley? The Caskwhisperer's arch nemesis?? All this and more on Caskheads! We're learning things and blind tasting two whiskies to try and guess which one is which. A new game we'll call... Blind whisk(e)y tasting? Cards against whisk(e)y? Who wants to be a million-whisk(e)y? And those whiskies we're tasting are: Waterfords Lakefield edition 1.1 and Hookhead edition 1.1. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
What does whisky and the devil have in common? More than you'd think. That's right it's halloween and we're here to tell a tale of a time long gone where a little town received a visit from the devil -- you know just like any regular old Tuesday. It's spooky - it's whisky and it sure is Halloween. So join us for this seasonal episode of Caskheads where we talk about Bowmore and review Bowmore 18 year old. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Late? No we're on time in every dimension except this one. But it's finally here, Taiwanese whisky! Like we've been saying we'd do ever since episode 1, so when better to do it than season two episode four. It just makes sense. We're talking about and reviewing (spoilers) Kavalan, not just the distillery but their whiskies!! (TWIST). A little bit of the history and a whole lot of Cask-whisperer lore. The whisky we try is: Kavalan classic, it's Kava... Too good to be true! (Full disclosure, it took us months to do but seconds to record and edit and that's show business people. It's rocky, just like the ice in some people's whisky glasses.) For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Wolves on fire? Sea wolves? Sea wolves on fire??? All this and more on Caskheads, a podcast that tries to be about whisky but is usually about tangents. So in a shocking twist of events we're talking about Scottish whisky and a distillery known as Wolfburn, that's right it's real. We also give a honourable mention to Conrad Gesner and his book: The history of four legged beasts and serpents. (If anyone has a copy please get in touch to update us on what a gift this is). Tasting: Wolfburn Aurora. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
We've got Dracula, we've got whisk(e)y, we've got so many things in this episode of Caskheads. Back at it again in season two talking about Filey Bay from The Spirit of Yorkshire distillery. It's not nearly as Halloween themed as it sounds. We try Filey Bay peated cask first release. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Fade in: A sunrise over two people stood at the top of a precipice. Scene change to recording room: The Caskwhisperer walks past in a cloud of smoke. Join us in the first episode of season two, we mention all the great sequels in film history and goof about as we discuss Octomore and the Bruichladdich distillery while trying Octomore 11.3. We have facts, we have fun and we talk about whisk(e)y. And what's that? OH NO! A villain has appeared on the horizon, is this the end of the Caskwhisperer? Or is it just the beginning?? Tune in next time when we probably don't continue this story. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Season two is coming folks, so grab your whisk(e)y and grab your lava lamp because we're back with a new logo and the same vibes. *mike drop*
That's right we've finished season one, next? Maybe season two, maybe even season three if we're feeling like mixing it up a little time-line wise... But probably season two. We go over everything we've reviewed in the previous episodes like some fun 90's sitcom montage, so if you don't want to listen to twenty odd episodes but want to know what's been happening this will give you an idea for what's in-store. We even wrap it up with a mystery tasting for Jordan. Talking points: Jaws. There can only be one! All the whisk(e)y we've reviewed so far. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
We're now back with more Caskheads on time as always and if you think we're late then really we're on time in a different universe, so here we are bringing you the penultimate episode of season one! We're covering some hard hitting questions like: How many whisky distilleries do you need to have a region? (The answer may surprise you). Why stick with branding when someone has bottling rites on your name? (Glengyle would like to tell you that you don't have to). But most importantly we remind you to not be like the Victorians and don't put chalk in food. So join us on this episode where we review Kilkerran 13 year old and their distillery along with a few others like Springbank and Glenscotia. For any questions email us at: caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
It's episode #20 babeeeeey and we've got architecture! We've got whisk(e)y! We've got information and jokes! We've got it all as always on Caskheads, a podcast heading straight for your ears. There's a bit of a headache going on this episode so that's why we smell colours when we review Glenallachie 12 year old. We might not resolve last episodes epic cliff hanger but we do talk about Star Wars. Some of the things we mention even has to do with the history of whisk(e)y and a lot to do with pop culture references; so remember, grab your hat, grab your cape and always remember to train parrots for advertising purposes. The whisk(e)y of this day is Antiquary 12 and if you haven't seen that bottle then you're missing out. Illegal distilleries? Old timely things?? Dinosaurs???!!! Maybe even some.... CRIME! So here we are, another episode and you know what they say: in for a farm in for a distillery. That's right we're moseying on down to the saloon of crime, we're wondering what would happen if dinosaurs had whisk(e)y but most importantly a hero known as The Caskwhisperer returns in this thrilling instalment of Caskheads as we cover some of the more questionable practices of whisk(e)y making that have taken place in the past. We review Oban Bay reserve Game of Thrones edition. For any questions email us at : caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
#NewYearNewWhisky Plant overlords? Musicals? That's how this episode starts and for no real reason because we're actually discussing Glendalough pot still Irish whisky and St. Kevin who is 100% likely to beat you in a fight so don't even try it, he's over 100 years old so that 100 years of power. Special thanks to Gladys the tree that we named. For any questions email us at : caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Werewolves? Dinosaurs? Time travel? All this and more in this episode of Cask Heads. We're talking about whisky again but we're also talking about werewolves in this one that's accompanied by the usual crowd along with our father, who adds even more interruptions into our usual whisky discussion while Jordan tries (and fails) to keep the topic close to where it should be. There's a review too, it's all about GlenDronach Revival 15. Will our father ever listen to this podcast? Will Jimmy Buffet ever not get mentioned? Find out at some point maybe. Similar to Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew this episode we trick a nobleman, no we don't but it does start with a lot of jump cuts around a lot of tangents, which are kind of like scene changes so we might as well stick with this motif while we're here. We've got jokes! We've got whisky! But most importantly, we've got heart! Talking points include: The Spirit of Yorkshire distillery. White peak distillery's prologue release. St. George's distillery's malt and rye. And some other things too, if you can believe it. For any questions email us at : caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
Tale has been told about a mysterious place known as the golden triangle... I'm kidding it's just a sherry thing. Talking about Sherry: Dalmore. That's what we're on about here, we sample (and by we I mean Jordan) Dalmore 15, talk about the history of the iconic stag they have on the bottle and we don't just talk about Alexander the great the entire time. Jordan edits a lot out including some rich lore, so listen to this one for information and hope that in the future there will be a Cask whisperer update that will stay in. Have you heard the tale of Gordon and Macphail? Two grocers who went on an epic quest of whisky and came out with a new friend, no? Well that's what we'll be talking about today. It's a sleepy episode for sleepy whisky so relax, unwind and let a tale of history wash over you. (Also take a drink every time Jordan says favourite or lovely... I'm kidding that might just kill you.) As for what's being tasted Jordan takes a sip of Gordon and Macphail's Balblair 12 year old from their discovery range. (That's right it's not just a Star Trek series). For any questions email us at : caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
It's Halloween, kind of, it's the halloween episode at least. We make a lot of goofs about some spoooooky things this time around so don't get too scared when the ghost of casks past arrives to spin a tale. There might be a few werewolves but we're also talking about the Tomatin distillery and their history in the world; then we go right on to reviewing Tomatin 14 year old. The place? Japan. The year? Varies. The plot? Thickens like a fine custard. In case you haven't figured it out, we're talking about Japanese whisky today, including the development of the Suntory and Nikka companies along with a fine fellow called Masataka Taketsuru and his story, how is he involved in whisky? We'll tell you in this episode as we fly through historic events and review Nikka Coffey Grain. Something bottled but I'm not blue. It's our tenth episode! Only one of us could make it for this one and luckily it was the one with the knowledge, so we have a special guest, our dad! Here to talk about whisk(e)y and what he knows already. So sit back, relax and hear all about the Ardbeg distillery and their new release called 'Wee Beastie' along with a few tangents of once again teaching someone new about whisk(e)y. Have you heard of India? Well they do whisk(e)y, can you believe? We can! It's a tour of Paul John and Amrut while we share a microphone in this upbeat episode of facts about a wondrous world of something called six row barley if you can believe it! Even a tale of a secret underground bunker... Exciting, what will happen next? Only listening will find that out. It's America part two, Electric Boogaloo. We're back later than ever about to hit you with some facts about a time called prohibition and you know what they say about prohibition - it happened! So let's dive in to the ocean of alcohol bans and a time long passed, about 100 years or so some might say (though only if they subscribe to the concept of time) and even more things, there's even a review of whisk(e)y! A whole ride of content happening right here, so jump in, enjoy the conversation and hear what we think about Blantons, it's Blantabulous! There's also a small mic issue so sorry for that old thing. As the famous saying goes, you need corn for corn whisky, rye for rye whisky and bourbon just needs the ingredients it has. That's right you guessed it we're in America now, or at least our whisky talk is, we've hopped a pond, we've landed somewhere new and we're unveiling the wonderful world of whisky somewhere new. Finally we review a sample of Sazerac Rye. For any questions email us at : caskheads@gmail.com And visit our website for more: caskheads.squarespace.com
