Mike Trauner was declared clinically dead twice. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces for almost 19 years with the 3rd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment at CFB Petawawa and was injured on December 5th, 2008, when an IED exploded resulting in the loss of both his legs and catastrophically injuring his arms and hands. Tyler played AAA hockey but when he was 15 years old, while playing hockey he broke his leg. After surgery they found a growth behind his leg. At 16 years old he went through 8 months of chemotherapy and his left leg was amputated due to that growth, it was a diagnosis of Spindle cell sarcoma is a type of connective tissue cancer.
