Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, Lurch and I talk about the 2024 Harley-Davidson virtual model release event held on January 24, 2024.  You can watch the Harley launch video HERE.  Harley introduced the all-new Road Glide, Street Glide, CVO Road Glide ST, and the Pan America.  The launch video is of good cinematic quality and tells the story of the creation of these new bikes.  As with other large corporations, the video is selling you a vision and a lifestyle but lacks product detail.  Don't worry, we have your back.  We give you the information you want.  Next week, I'm attending a press ride of the new  Road Glide, Street Glide, and CVO Road Glide ST.  Stay tuned to the Law Abiding Biker Podcast and YouTube Channel for my review of the new bikes.    SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE According to Harley-Davidson, the 2024 Street Glide and Road Glide models are more powerful, lighter, and more dynamic, and feature all-new visual design elements that combine a cohesive dynamic flow from the front fenders to the saddlebags. Both models feature an evolved fairing profile that appears refreshingly modern yet retains Harley-Davidson design DNA that makes them instantly familiar. Additional key features include: An updated Milwaukee-Eight® 117 V-Twin engine features a new cooling system that further optimizes thermal comfort for the rider and enhanced intake and exhaust flow to boost performance. Selectable Ride Modes – Road, Sport, Rain, and Custom – electronically control the performance characteristics of the motorcycle. Infotainment technology is powered by Skyline™ OS and presented on a 12.3-inch TFT color touch screen that replaces all analog instrumentation and most switches. A new 200-watt audio amplifier powers a pair of fairing-mounted speakers. Improved aerodynamics enhance rider comfort and reduce subjective helmet buffeting at highway speed by an average of 60 percent. Rear suspension travel is increased to 3-inches. A redesigned one-piece seat shape and padding materials offer a significant improvement in long-range comfort for most riders. Thanks in advance.  Items mentioned in this episode: Vampliers tool  First Aid Kits The CVO Road Glide ST is the quickest, fastest, and most sophisticated performance bagger ever produced by Harley-Davidson, and represents a unique collection of components providing high value to performance-minded riders. A deep solo seat and six-inch riser paired with a moto handlebar put the rider in an aggressive, upright position with West Coast custom style. Key features include: Two premium paint choices: Golden White Pearl or Raven Metallic. A Screamin' Eagle graphic on the fairing sides and fuel tank is inspired by the Screamin' Eagle® Harley-Davidson® Factory motorcycles raced in the MotoAmerica® Mission King of the Baggers series. CVO™ 25th Anniversary graphics celebrate a milestone in factory customization. The Milwaukee-Eight® 121 High Output V-Twin engine is exclusive to the CVO Road Glide ST model, tuned to produce 127 horsepower (94kW) and 145 lb. ft. (193 Nm) of torque – the most horsepower and torque ever from a factory-installed engine in a production Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. A lower final drive ratio is selected to enhance acceleration performance in every gear. The use of alternate materials helps reduce dry weight to 800 pounds (363 kg). Mufflers have lightweight titanium shells and forged carbon fiber end caps; forged carbon fiber composite is used to form the front fender, seat cowl and tank console; the oil pan is formed of lightweight composite; and wheel design and wave-style front brake rotors are optimized to minimize unsprung weight. Fully adjustable front and rear suspension include SHOWA® rear shock absorbers with remote reservoirs and inverted 47mm SHOWA® 1x1 forks. Premium Brembo™ braking components provide an outstanding braking feel and performance for added rider confidence. Selectable Ride Modes – Road, Sport, Track, Track Plus, Rain, and multiple Custom modes – electronically control the performance characteristics of the motorcycle. A suite of infotainment technology is powered by Skyline™ OS. A color touch screen replaces all analog instrumentation and most switches. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch, and we review the released 2024 Harley-Davidson Models.  We also give our predictions about what may or may not be released on January 24, 2024.  Harley is doing a virtual launch event on the 24th at 10 AM CST.  You can sign up for the event HERE.  We will put out a video and podcast following the virtual launch on the 24th.   Harley released some of the 2024 models via the website recently.  These are the bikes that are carryovers from 2023.  Our belief is they did this to keep dealers stocked with new bikes.  You see, in 2023 there were a couple of production shutdowns.  One was related to a defective brake line from a third-party provider and the other was due to a parts shortage.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Missing models (as of the date of this recording) from the 2024 lineup are the Fat Bob 114, all CVO models, all Street Glide models, all Road Glide models except the Limited, and the Pan America standard model.  So, one can infer there is going to be something new with the touring models and perhaps the Fat Bob 114. Ryan predicts the 107 Milwaukee 8 motor will be no more after this year.  He believes the 114" VVT motor will be in the special models along with the new dash and fairings.  He believes the standards will have the older Boom Box GTS unit and a smaller motor.  Ryan also believes that Harley will come out with a King of the Bagger model that is more track-ready than the ST models.  Lurch and Ryan predict that there will be a mid-sized Pan America.  Lastly, Ryan predicts that the long-awaited Bronx Street Fighter will come out sometime in 2024. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Lurch predicts the standard models of the Street Glide and Road Glide may be cut.  Last year there were many models of the Glides including the standard, specials, limited, STs, and CVOs.  That is a lot of models and in his opinion, the higher-level models are more coveted.  The standard glides not being a part of the pre-launch spurred Lurch's prediction.   Harley removed the surcharge imposed on new motorcycle sales.  The surcharge was instituted in July 2021 to combat production and shipping costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  In addition to the surcharge cancellation, a couple of models were slightly reduced in price; those being the Nightster and the Nightster Special.   NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Get In The Know Before Harley Releases 2024 Models! LAB-317-Harley-Davidson Headquarters & Dealerships Closing? 2023 Bikes Leaked!

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Is Harley Closing its Doors? So, what is going on with Harley-Davidson as we move toward 2023?  Is Harley Permanently Closing Its Headquarters Building in Milwaukee and why?  Why are so many independently owned dealerships closing their doors or selling?  Oh, and what's up with the possibility of a 975 version of the very popular Pan America Adventure bike?  Is the long-talked-about Harley Bronx Streetfighter actually going to become a reality?  And what's all this mean for the future of the Motor Company?  Well, these are all loaded questions and I have a metric ton to throw at you, so let's dive in and see if we can make sense of it all for you!  2023 could prove to be a very exciting year for Harley-Davidson. So, let's start with the question of whether Harley-Davidson is permanently closing the doors to its Milwaukee, Wisconsin Headquarters building, which has served as such since 1973.  The answer is “yes”, well kind of.  You see, Harley-Davidson is letting employees work from home on what may become a permanent basis.  Harley's Milwaukee headquarters closed in 2020 due to the global pandemic, but Harley CEO Jochen Zeitz says the complex is going to be repurposed rather than reopened for workers. Neither Harley-Davidson nor the CEO has specified exactly what its 500,000-square-foot complex in Milwaukee will become. Still, the company insists the location will remain an important location for Harley's presence in the U.S.  Further, Harley is fully embracing remote work and the flexibility and openness it brings. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE So, what's my opinion on all this?  I personally think that varies greatly from industry to industry.  I do recognize that there are some benefits to remote working, such as fewer distractions, workers may feel less stressed and stay more focused, and of course, remote workers love having flexibility in their schedules if feasible.  With that said, I think Harley needs to tread lightly here because a huge part of the motorcycle lifestyle is riding and hanging out with other like-minded bikers.  You certainly want your employees to embrace, live, and understand the motorcycle culture.  That's hard to do remotely. A ton of bonding, discussions, ideas and a sense of belonging can occur during those in-office in-person hours, and those motorcycle rides to lunch and back.  That can't be replicated via video conferences and virtual check-ins in my opinion. NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Harley's Deal With The Devil! El Diablo Next, let's talk about independently owned dealerships.  It's true that some smaller independently owned Harley dealerships are closing their doors.  In fact, the Denver Post reported this month that "Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson (RMH-D), the oldest family-owned Harley motorcycle dealership in Colorado, is shutting down at the end of the month".  The longtime business, founded in 1979 by owner Kathy Yevoli, who still serves as RMH-D president, has fallen victim to a corporate downsizing strategy, said Marina Yevoli, Kathy's daughter and director of marketing at the Littleton motorcycle dealership.  “We are closing, not by our choice,” Marina Yevoli said. “To be politically correct, they (Harley-Davidson) are condensing the market and independent dealers do not fit that mold. They are doing away with family-owned businesses.” Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! Innovative products for Harley-Davidson & Goldwing Affordable chrome, lighting, and comfort products Ciro 3D has a passion for design and innovation My thoughts are that Harley should be careful if they are in fact snuffing out independent dealerships and going more corporate.  I think that move could potentially hurt them in the long run.  You see, many long-time Harley customers, and newer customers for that matter, have built personal relationships with their independent dealerships and personnel and get treated in a personal way.  An independent owner takes great pride in their dealership for the most part. It's more of a family-friendly one-on-one experience that many Harley owners are accustomed to and it very well may be one of the reasons they stick with Harley-Davidson.  Don't forget that many of these independent dealerships have become staples of their communities.  But, this seems to be the way many industries are going these days like Comoto Holdings, Inc., which owns Revzilla, J&P Cycles, Cycle Gear, and Rever.  I guess only time will tell. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! New Bikes for 2023? Pan America 975 Okay, now, let's talk about the potential release of a new Pan America 975.  This is not surprising to me, since Harley's first stab at the adventure market was the Pan America 1250, which quickly claimed the title of the #1 selling Adventure Motorcycle in North America, beating out other long-standing adventure motorcycles like the BMW 1250 GS Adventure. Sponsor-RickRak CLICK HERE The Ultimate Motorcycle Luggage Rack Solution Forget those messy straps and bungee cords Go strapless with a RickRak quick attach luggage system & quality bag Earlier this year, signs of the new Pan America 975 were mistakenly mentioned on Harley-Davidson's website for an accessory locking fuel cap.  The fuel cap was listed as being compatible with the current Pan America 1250 models as well as two unannounced models; the RA975 and RA975S, which I assume to be new Pan America models which will be powered by the 975cc version of the Revolution Max engine, like the one in the new Nightster. Now, the fact that the smaller Pan America was mentioned on the Harley website, would suggest that they likely planned to include the mid-sized Adventure bike this year but decided against launching them, perhaps due to supply chain constraints.  So, my prediction is that the new Pan America 975 will come out at some point in 2023.  I will note that Harley-Davidson is expected to announce the bulk of its 2023 models in January. Sponsor-Butt Buffer CLICK HERE Want to ride longer? Tired of a sore and achy ass? Then fix it with a high-quality Butt Buffer seat cushion? Bronx Streetfighter Finally, let's talk about the infamous Harley Bronx Streetfighter that never came to be.  Remember, this bike was supposed to come out in 2021 with the Revolution Max 975T motor but never did.  Now, Harley never confirmed they scrapped the Bronx Steegfighter, but they did come out with the Nightster in 2022, which has the Revolution Max 975T engine.  Many thought that was the replacement for the Bronx, that it was dead, and would never make it past a concept bike.  However, new information has leaked that Harley reapplied for the trademarks for the Bronx Street Fighter name.  So, that begs the question, how much longer will Harley dangle that carrot in front of us?  Will we finally see a Bronx Steetfighter actually release and hit the streets in 2023? 'The art of rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts.' None of these words from dictionary.com's definition of poetry relate in any way to what Boris delivers each episode. For that, you would need to add terms like tawdry, profane, puerile, defamatory and NSFW. Oh, and entertaining. As this week's effort - 'The Hot Girl Yogurt' - proves. It is as offensive as the title suggests and yet, somehow, the giant mad bastard makes it work. There's other stuff in this episode, too, but really, it's the poem that steals the show. Again. When you hear the word “pan-Americanism,” what comes to mind, if anything does, is probably a defunct airline. But back in its day, “much bitter controversy” was waged about the slippery idea of pan-americanism. Why? What was the controversy about? We discuss these and other questions with Dr. Mark Petersen, Associate Professor of History at the University of Dallas and the author of the recent book, The Southern Cone and the Origins of Pan America, 1888-1933. Dr. Petersen explains how pan-Americanism developed from its origins as a US-led form of regional cooperation, what “the Americas” look like when you begin from Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, instead of Washington; and why one photograph that he found in an archive made him sit back, stunned, in his chair. Link to photograph: https://drive.google.com/file/d/130Lo-N6d120vILgAdF0rZMDelceiGchB/view?usp=sharing More about Dr. Mark Petersen: https://udallas.edu/constantin/academics/programs/history/faculty/petersen-mark.php More about his book, The Southern Cone and the Origins of Pan America, 1888-1933: https://undpress.nd.edu/9780268202019/the-southern-cone-and-the-origins-of-pan-america-1888-1933/ *********************Free video series, “The Quest”: https://quest.udallas.edu/St. Ambrose Center: https://saintambrosecenter.udallas.edu/   Liberal Learning for Life @ University of Dallas: https://udallas.edu/liberal-learning/Twitter: https://twitter.com/lib_learning_udInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/liberallearningforlife/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/liberallearningforlife Support the show

The Following is a Public Service Announcement: None of this – and we mean none of this, including the yelling, the crying, the cussing, the finger-pointing, the nappy-soiling, the bitch-slapping, and gold medal prosciutto-making – would be possible without the support of our brilliant sponsors. You'd think three talentless bums who lucked their way into a successful podcast thanks to some extraordinary (and ongoing) work behind the scenes would be grateful for the help, wouldn't you? Especially when the figure of their fun is the person who writes the show notes? And yet here we are. But enough about the internal squabbling that is integral to what makes this the Greatest Motorcycling Podcast In The World. This week Simmo is back in the studio because apparently three listeners didn't hate him, Tug is back from Japan and busy not fixing his girlfriend's bike and Boris and Freido are...well...Boris and Freido. If you're new, welcome. If you're a regular, welcome back. But no matter which you are, hit the play button now. Tug is phoning it in this week (in every imaginable way) but it hasn't effected the quality of analysis at all, as you can probably tell from the title. None of that matters this week, though, because Jack Miller is a winner again and when that happens, 'the world seems a happier place', as Boris notes. About the only thing this bucks party didn't have was the buck himself (though those in attendance got the next best thing...an interview with his family!). Free food, free beer, strippers and talk about motorcycles...what more could any man want (aside form a huge pile of money and an even bigger pile of supermodels?) If you didn't take the necessary steps to attend Jack Miller's Bucks party ask yourself some very direct and very serious questions about your life choices because you are clearly doing it wrong. If you were there, enjoy reliving what was a brilliant night's entertainment while at the same time making sure to rub it in the face of anyone you know who didn't go. As Jerry was to George and Elaine in Seinfeld, so Freido is to Boris and Tug on Moto PG. He is the glue that bonds the whole thing together. His presence elevates the entire operation, lifting it to a product that exceeds the sum of its parts. As much as they missed the little fella last week they're equally happy to have him back for episode 71 and he doesn't disappoint. Like Santa, Freido comes bearing gifts of gossip and news from the paddock, some of which he even shares on the show (though the good stuff is in the Patreon only episode). When the racing is boring (like it was on Sunday) you'd probably think the podcast will be uninteresting, too. But that would be ridiculous because the greatest motorcycling podcast on earth isn't so much MotoGP news as MotoGP Neighbours. Sure, there are men riding motorcycles at stupid fast speeds but the truth is it's just a giant soap opera for grown men. And we at Moto PG are totally here for it. This week Freido is on the ground in Assen (international incident to come, no doubt), Borrie has his rhyme on and Tug is directing traffic like the Munted One captaining the Aprilia ship. But don't take our word for it, hit the play button and get it in your ears now. It's better than whatever else you were thinking of doing (unless you were planning on doing a super model in which case the pod will still be here when you finish). Usually in life we celebrate the high achievers. The ones who do the things we ourselves could not. Think Federer, Woods, Rossi and - yes - even Marquez. But every now and then the Lord gifts us an individual so glorious in their stupidity, so munted in their lack of ability, so genuinely and universally unlikeable that we must stop. And reflect. And then applaud and cheer the staggering lack of talent and self awareness, and revel in their failures. In our midst, in 2022, such a character exists but we shall not speak his name because, as Tug so eloquently points out, there is no need. This sh!t does indeed write itself. (Except the poem. Borrie writes those. And what a work of art this week's is!). You know what to do next, people. Enjoy. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we discuss that Harley-Davidson recently flew me to Santa Barbara, California to test ride and review the 2022 Nightster.  It was a very quick 4-day trip, 2 of those days being travel days. Understand, Harley-Davidson paid for the flights, meals, and lodging. However, no contract was mentioned or signed and I was never told what I could or could not say, so I will give you an unbiased real-world biker review as always. Now, I had many questions about this new Nightster and anticipated how it might feel and handle when riding it. There was only one way to find out and it started when I arrived at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort where I'd be staying for the next few days, and I got checked into my room. I quickly made my way to dinner where Harley had set up the "instrument of expression" launch event.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE As I walked around the room this first night I had time to really think about what the new 2022 Nightster means now and to the future of Harley-Davidson as a company. I really had time to reflect on Harley-Davidson's rich history with their bikes of the past, and in many ways, they've carried much of that history over and put it into their present-day motorcycles. As Willie G. Davidson once said, "Everything we do is the notion that form follows function-but both report to emotion" and I wanted to see if that would be the case with the Nightster. But, what do these new water-cooled Revolutions Max engines in the Pan America, Sporster S, and now the 2022 Nightster with the 975T version really mean?  Is Harley fazing out the traditional big V-Twin air-cooled engines? During my time in and around Santa Barbara, I'd get these questions answered and a whole bunch more.  Make sure to watch my review video to find out the answers.   CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! I found the 2022 Nightster to be a fast nimble bike that was very capable of carving up twisty canyon roads.  The horsepower may be intimidating to new riders, but that can be mitigated by the different ride modes.  The bike can be tamed down by using Rain Mode, then a rider could progress to Road Mode, and eventually Sport Mode.  The Nightster was designed with customization in mind.  I think Harley did a great job designing it. NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Harley-Davidson 2022 Nightster! Is This The Beginning? Test Ride & Review! There were a few negatives I found, and admittedly they are a bit nit-picky.  First, the front-mounted radiator is not visually appealing to me personally.  I know it's required to get the performance and horsepower out of the engine.  I guess I'm old-school and I'll just have to learn to get used to the radiator.  Secondly, the plastic trim on top of the tank (airbox) looks cheap and is a bit flimsy.  I would have liked to see something made of metal in its place.  And lastly, the control switch housings were also made of plastic.  I would prefer metal ones like on my Street Glide Special.   Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! Producing some of the best-engineered bikes on earth, and boasting the services of multiple-world champion, Marc Marquez (now no longer blind, apparently), these are certainly the handlebars you wanna try hanging onto. If you listened to last week's episode (and if you didn't then seriously, what are you doing with your life?) you would have heard the boys chatting electric bikes with Dennis Savic of Savic motorcycles. You would also have heard that there was more to that interview than appeared in last week's show and you may have been wondering what happened to it. Well, wonder no more because here it is in all its motorcycling glory. Enjoy! The Following is a Public Service Announcement: None of this – and we mean none of this, including the yelling, the crying, the cussing, the finger-pointing, the nappy-soiling, the bitch-slapping, and gold medal prosciutto-making – would be possible without the support of our brilliant sponsors. We demand and insist you support them because they support us. Don't make us come to your house with pipes and knives and force you to test-ride their bikes and buy their products. We will. We have no morals and jail only scares one of us, but Freido will be deported before he spends any time in Long Bay. Click on the bloody links. Please. Harley-Davidson Australia (https://www.harley-davidson.com/au/en/index.html) – The world's oldest, toughest, and most iconic marque has re-vamped, re-charged, and re-energised itself with a new engine and new models, which you just have to ride to believe. The legendary bikes are still there (No, Slim, they stopped making Knuckles a while back), but Harley is carving a whole new chapter in its storied history with the Pan America and the Sportster S. Ride and believe. Savic Motorcycles (https://www.savicmotorcycles.com/) – We couldn't be prouder than to have the support of Australia's own high-performance electric motorcycle manufacturer which is set to revolutionise e-motorcycles worldwide, while saving polar bears, low-lying countries, and every tree on earth from climate catastrophe. Won't do much for deserts, but. They're probably gonna stay deserts. If you can't get one of the gorgeous bikes, the least you could do is buy some of the gear – it would be un-Australian of you not to. And so there was racing, and there was merriment, and there was puerile, schoolboy humour to be had for someone had injured their private parts. And this was right in the wheelhouse of our intrepid trio of ill informed motorcycle correspondents who, despite knowing almost nothing about motorcycles or racing, still produce the greatest motorcycling podcast in the world. And Boris wrote a poem and the people did snigger because it was childish and rude and used profanity. And so it was that another episode of Moto PG came to pass, one that included a special guest whose technology lasted the entire episode and who also offered a poem of his own to the gods of motorcycle podcasting. And it was good, and you should listen to it. Now. It's a miracle. The boys didn't go to hell last week despite Freido's blasphemous prayer and recording on Good Friday instead of worshipping like they should have been. Despite that lucky escape, however, they just might be enjoying the company of Beelzebub after Borrie's poem this week. The Big Man was only four lines into it before Tug had an involuntary physical reaction and by the time it was over, almost nobody in the paddock had escaped Borrie's wrath. It's vulgar in the extreme, politically incorrect and just plain uncouth. Yes, everything that makes this the greatest motorcycling podcast in the world. And it's only one segment! Get it in your ears people before the censors catch on...
