Faith Fellowship Assembly of God
The story of Micah is a sad one. This young man decided to create his own form of worship, set up an idol in his home, hire a young Levite to lead his family, and then expected God to be okay with it. God will bless what is right in our own eyes. He has set a standard.
Gideon...a man with many issues...yet used by God.
During the time of the judges, Israel was caught in a vicious cycle of sin and despair. They would cry out to God, and God would save them, only to abandon God and His ways once the judge died. Are we so different? The similarities between the time of the judges and our present national condition are striking.
What insights can we gain from the 23rd Psalm relating to living a life of surrender to God?
Who am I anymore? We live in a culture presently struggling with identity - gender identity, sexual identity, spiritual identity. It becomes too easy to point the finger at the lost and label them as twisting their purpose; however, many believers are just as confused about their identity, choosing to follow Jesus when convenient and go with the world when not. Who am I?
The only way to true wholeness is brokenness. Will we welcome Jesus in our lives?
A plethora of scripture exists speaking directly to the care of the poor by the followers of God. Why is God so concerned with the poor? In America, we have allowed our federal system to become a welfare state. Was that by design of our Founders, who were themselves well versed in scripture? Or have we, as the church, ceded our responsibilities to the State?
Is Islam truly a religion of peace as our leaders continue to tell us?
What must America do to experience the next Great Awakening from God? I submit to you that there must be an alignment between the prophet, the priest, and the king with the heart of God.
What does it mean to have a biblical worldview? How should we use our biblical worldview with respect to politics and our civic duties?
Peter's betrayal and subsequent restoration by Jesus encapsulates the power of the resurrection. We can be forgiven for our failures and even our betrayal. God desires to restore us.
What were Jesus's last words from the cross? What impact might they have on our lives in the here and now?
Will we risk it all or retreat in our mission of reaching the lost?
Christ demonstrated in the garden how we might overcome obstacles, even those that overwhelm us, and still please God.
If we are followers of Jesus, we must be a functional part of the body of Christ.
Once we deny ourselves and take up our cross, the next course of action involves us becoming authentic (or real) to the world around us. Will we practice what we preach? Will we operate in grace and truth as Christ did?
What does it mean to be a Christian? Is that any different than being a follower of Jesus? Is it possible that the reason American Christianity seems to be losing its effectiveness in reaching our culture is due attempting to practice Christianity without the cross?
Obedience can only happen in the present. The past is done and the future are all but good intentions. What will you do with God today?
How do we become free of the chains of the past so our present and future are not harmed?
How will we open ourselves up to the Christmas Season this year? Will we allow the Holy Spirit to breathe fresh life into us, or will we allow the times and challenges to depress us and cause us to exclaim, "Bah-Humbug?"
When we think of Job, we don't often think of thanksgiving. But if we only dig a little deeper, we will find a man who exemplified thanksgiving regardless of what challenges came his way, and in turn, pleased God. What lessons can we learn from Job?
Physical actions can and will open the door to spiritual consequences. What open doors do we allow in our lives that battle with our spirit for supremacy of our soul?
It's not about me...it's not about us...it's all about Jesus!
Sexual sin is the elephant in the room. Sexual sin is extremely damaging. It is no secret that we are living in a sex-driven culture. How do we then remain pure and fight off temptation?
All of us have weaknesses or blind spots. As James 1 says, we are all "dragged away" by our own evil desires. We must be willing to confront our blind spots and allow the Holy Spirit to give us strength to overcome them.
How are we representing our king as we go out into the community?
What is our perspective of lost people? Do we see them as the problem? How did Jesus see them? How do we reach them?
What would we do today if we knew Jesus was coming back tonight? Jesus was very clear when He said that the harvest was ready. Why are we waiting to go get it?
No dad is perfect. However, God will give us the wisdom we need in making a difference in our families. Are we willing to confess our shortcomings to God so that His strength can overcome our weakness?
Does truth change? Can it adapt to cultural norms? Or is truth something that is foundational and absolute? If God doesn't change, then wouldn't it be reasonable to believe that truth doesn't change? Join us as we examine truth.
Have you ever been intimidated by God's command to "be holy, because I am holy?" I know I have. How do we even reach such and impossible standard? How can an unholy person stand before a holy God with confidence?
This is the first in a new sermon series entitled "God Is." God is love. That is a nice slogan...but what does it mean? How does our perception of love affect how we embrace...or not embrace...this characteristic of God?
The power and presence of Pentecost must be more than just a memory. The Holy Spirit baptism is for today. We must step out in faith to receive it.
Pentecost is the day the church was born! What a powerful experience it must have been. 2000 years later, we are still being connected with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. What is this gift from Jesus all about?
How do we enhance a heart of worship? What steps must be taken in order to move into a place where expression meets His Spirit?
When we engage in worship, the host of heaven will do battle on our behalf.
Engaging in worship will greatly impact the dynamic of any service among the body of Christ. Failure to engage in worship can limit what we receive from God and His Word.
Can we get so distracted with life that we forget to allow Jesus to do in us what He desires?
If Jesus was who He said He was...if we believe He meant what He said...then how ought we to respond?
How will we respond when Jesus does not do what we expect Him to do? Will we still follow Him?
As Christians, we can easily allow our faith to slip from being active and engaged, to just passively accepting what will be will be. God desires for us to have great faith and believe Him to work powerfully in the here and now through us. How else will we reach the world?
In order to successfully plan for the future, we must be able to understand our time and our place in life and ministry. Doing what God hasn't called us to do, or doing something at the wrong time can spell disaster.
Are we ready to make the sacrifices need to truly experience a genuine move of God? With His move comes hungry souls who will be in need of discipleship. Count the cost.
