Going paperless is the ONE THING that will allow you to FINALLY be as productive as you think you "should" be. I'll teach you how to start working WITH your brain, rather than against it. I take the mystery out of going paperless, and I'm here to show you
Deciding what you want to think and believe about yourself is the main tool and concept that will stop you from organizing your entire life, then rebounding back to where you started because you couldn't keep up with the systems you created. If your identity doesn't change to support the new results you create, you will ultimately snap back to that old software. Long-lasting results require a software update to your brain, so it thinks thoughts that support your results you worked so hard to create. See you inside for a deep dive into this life-changing concept that you can start applying right away.• Register for the free live coaching call on Tuesday, March 8th, 2022 (always the second Tuesday at 2) from 2:00-3:00 CDT (click here to register) or copy and paste: https://morgandodsoncoaching.ck.page/699b77e427• Get on the email list: enter your email by clicking here, or copy and paste: https://www.morgandodsoncoaching.com/subscribe• Interested in coaching? Taxes suck, ESPECIALLY when you struggle with executive dysfunction, or any other kind of neurodivergency. This episode will help you articulate all the possible struggles, obstacles, issues, hardships, complicated feelings, and all the resistance you have to doing or thinking about taxes (or even reaching out to hire a tax pro). Once you can articulate your experiences and obstacles, you can get to work on solving them, making systems that actually work for your brain, and in general, making taxes suck less. You've got this. You probably have thoughts about the new year that make you feel like sh*it, and you don't even realize yet that they are completely optional. "I should make big changes in my life," "I should set a big goal," or even "I have to start fresh" and "hit the ground running" are all optional, and I give you some new perspectives on what to do instead, if the neurotypical "expected" way of goals feels yucky this year. P.S. - I love impossible goals, the bigger the better. Do an impossible goal, if you WANT TO. But if it just so happens you don't want to? Y'all. Some thoughts can sound nice and lovely on paper, but can sometimes actually cause a lot of pain, time wasted, lots of suffering, and loads of mental space spent with no upside, and no payoff whatsoever. This episode is all about questioning every thought (especially the ones that sound nice), because they might just be sneakily working against you. I dive deep into my thought that caused me trouble this Christmas present shopping season, and how "being a good gift giver" sounds good, but it actually made me spiral out into overwhelm, perfectionism, over-researching, and so so so much overthinking. It's uncomfortable to believe something new, or to learn a new skill, similarly to how your muscles hurt after going to the gym. All it means is you're GROWING. Except, our brains really want to make the discomfort mean that something's gone terribly wrong, when in reality, we're perfectly on schedule to having stronger muscles or to gaining proficiency in a new skill we're learning. Knowing this can save you SO MUCH struggle and misery when you know discomfort is coming, and nothing's gone wrong. Aiming for a perfect outcome seems like it would be motivating. Except, when you obviously don't hit it, it feels de-motivating because you're "not there yet, can't release it because it's not good enough", and none of your work ever sees the light of day. It seems counterintuitive to aim for doing less-good work, work that gets you an 80%, a B-, but it actually makes you get MORE done, AND it's more motivating, because it makes you want to go do more stuff. B- work that gets released is better than A+ work that never sees the light of day. Sound fun? This week's episode dives deep into my childhood, how I wasn't born with the "organized gene", and how I've adapted over the years to my undiagnosed ADHD, which was later of course diagnosed at age 22. See what parts of you you find in my story, and how so much of what I teach now comes from a multitude of different areas and struggles and different experiences I've had throughout the years. We don't come out of the womb "being an organized person". It's cultivated over time with effort + experimentation, and lots of failing, accompanied with lots of learning. But that's good news! Because you didn't miss out on the "organized gene" (p.s. that doesn't even exist), and you CAN become the most organized and best version of yourself, no special gene required. Just a willingness to learn, experiment, and test a bunch of shit to see what works. That's it y'all! See you inside. You coming?• To get on the email list, schedule a consult, or learn more about coaching, do it all on my clean, easy to navigate website:morgandodsoncoaching.com• Get on the email list: enter your email by clicking here, or copying and pasting: (https://morgandodsoncoaching.ck.page/)• Interested in coaching? Your brain feels messy enough, but it'll make sense why it feels so scattered once you take inventory of EVERYWHERE you have digital information. Zooming in on how many apps you use, different accounts you store things in, as well as seeing ALL the places you have paper throughout your life will be very eye opening, because you for SURE have stuff saved in more places than you think.Deciding on your core tools (see ep. 14. The Paperless Triad, and ep. 5. Second Brain Freedom) in each of the three areas of core tools will then allow you to consolidate all the digital and physical things into one of those three places. So now instead of going hunting for something and having to log in to 19 different places, at LEAST you can just go looking within ONE place. This is the beauty of building your external brain. Making your systems disciplined, so you don't have to be as disciplined. It's a beautiful thing. A low messy tolerance will leave you using willpower to keep scanning, when it feels like there's no end in sight to ever making this whole paperless thing work. A high messy tolerance? Has you remaining committed, working WITH the negative emotions that come up throughout this process, rather than trying to overcompensate and push against them. Listen to learn how to identify the exact points in this journey you'll need to be on the lookout for low messy tolerance, and how to strengthen it, as well as your overall mental resiliency. How-to's, tutorials, and advice from "experts" is GREAT, but only if it has a solid mindset to land on. You can't out-hack a brain that doesn't believe it's possible for an ADHD-er to go paperless, or also believes it's super hard and will never last. Those beliefs will stop you dead in your tracks, but consciously deciding to believe new things about yourself and about this process IS the most effective place to be spending your time and attention when it comes to going paperless for the LAST time. In the adhd, productivity, and digital organization worlds, there are lots of experts. But at the end of the day, YOU are the authority over all your own systems, protocols, and special ways of organizing and doing things. Relying on experts leaves you feeling powerless, and makes things move forward slowly. Recognizing your own choice, knowledge, and power in the matter is crucial to developing the mental and emotional skills that will set you up for organization success for the rest of your life.Join me on today's podcast to learn the difference between learning from experts and relying on them for a majority of your decisions, vs. learning from experts and deciding at the end of the day how you want to do things, given the context of your entire life. YOU know what's best for you and your life, not anybody else. You coming?• Visit the website: morgandodsoncoaching.com• Get on the email list: enter your email here.• Interested in coaching? Separating out facts from thoughts is a crucial skill to cultivating emotional health, focus, and achieving any goal. If you believe that your thoughts are facts, you will exhaust yourself with over-efforting toward any goal you're working toward. Identifying your drama is the first step to solving for it. Come join me on my journey through using a food tracking app, and how I still have all the same drama you do when learning any new app or strategy. This stuff doesn't come naturally for me, so in this episode I give you a look inside my own brain when it comes to creating confidence around using an app, and knowing your exact reasons for why you're doing it, and knowing EXACTLY how to use it. One of the main problems I see clients coming to me with, is focusing on making a system efficient before they have first done the work to make it effective in the first place. Think: scaling a currently not-working business model - it just isn't gonna work. But scaling a business that currently works? That's when the magic happens.
