The Word of the Day is Inventory (0:00-7:45) Today, we will examine the status of the Flyers, Eagles, and 76ers. It is essential to assess each team's position within their respective leagues as well as their standing in the city. (7:45-16:25) Today’s Twitter Poll With Tyrese Maxey shut down and Joel Embiid having another knee surgery, was this Sixers season the worst in Philadelphia sports history? Yes 57.9% No 42.1% We give our thumbs up down or middle on some players that the Eagles signed this offseason. (16:25 -26:44) Tyrese Maxey is better positioned to play a supporting role rather than take on the primary leadership of a team. This observation is not a criticism of Maxey; rather, it acknowledges that not every player is equipped or expected to be the top option. (26:44-36:32) The decision to extend Joel Embiid appears to have been made by the ownership, but currently, it does not seem favorable. Should Joel regain his full health, the contract may be viewed more positively. Additionally, we analyze the two trades the Eagles executed this offseason concerning Kenny Pickett and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson Jr. At this moment, Andrew expresses approval for the Pickett trade while disapproving of the CJGJ trade. I'll be honest, I really wasn't feeling it this week. I nearly skipped it. But this Podcast is a practice for me in showing up and doing the thing even when you don't want to. This episode gets raw and emotional at times, which I know listeners have come to expect. I've read reviews that mention how narcissistic I am, how mean I am to my father, and how my siblings are right to stay away from me.Thanks! Seriously, thank you. It's refreshing to know that people are listening to me and having a reaction. I have never been a people pleaser. I am true to myself and I, like all of us, am flawed. I do answer to Hashem and I feel held in that connection, regardless of what others say about me. This episode is called Pekudei, which means accounting. No, not like tax season exactly, but more of an inventory. This is the end of Exodus. So, how did we do? What did we learn? Where do we go from here? Did we try our best? Did things get messy? Did we play it safe? Did we hurt others with our actions and words? If we did, we can acknowledge it and move forward. That is what I am doing here. Sharing my process with all of you. It is real and honest and unfiltered and at times I expect it to make you CRINGE. Life is a bit cringe, isn't it? Do we always get what we want? No. But...holy crap, we are ALIVE.Thanks for spending time with me on here. Whether you love me, hate me, or love to hate me, I am grateful for the opportunity to share. If you feel moved, please leave a review. Any kind of review you'd like!--Briyah

363 Taking Inventory As the New Year begins it's time for us to take a step back and reflect on the stories, messages, and values we want to bring into 2025. Just like tending to a garden by removing weeds and adding nutrients, we must also tend to the garden of our lives. In this episode Sarah Elkins, Emily McVey, and Chris Wang discuss the stories that shaped them into who they are as well as how they have chosen to tell their stories through thoughtful and meaningful actions. Highlights What are the coping strategies you developed? What connects you to other people? Even if you've never seen them. What skills did you develop from a chaotic situation that manifested into a valuable tool for you to use throughout life? What generational curses are you breaking? What situations will you never allow others to endure because you had to endure them? Remember to step back and look at the bigger picture, instead of viewing the situation through a lens or holding the subjects to a higher standard. What brings you peace and calm? Quotes “If you play music, if you play an instrument, and you listen to the music, it's almost like you're having a dialogue with this person even though you've never seen them.” - Chris Wang “We are not doing this to our children.” -Emily McVey “There's the traditional definition of success which is more tied to- you know- maybe more defined by money and career and that kind of stuff, which I kind of pursued and did my share, but then I realized it's incomplete. I was still deeply unhappy.” -Chris Wang “Don't go out on the floor and ask the girls to work on their issues if you're not willing to work on your own.” -Emily McVey Dear Listeners it is now your turn, What inventory are you gonna take about what you ran from or what you're running toward? And who in your life needs to hear from you? That you believe in them and that you're there to support them and to help them move into whatever they're running toward. And, as always, thank you for listening. About Emily Emily has lived in Montana her whole life. She and her husband, Mike, raised their three children in Helena, participating in several extracurricular activities such as Boy Scouts and all of the sports. Emily's background includes a formal education in culinary arts, sociology, and public relations, and she has a master's degree in public administration. Her nonprofit experience includes working at Florence Crittenton Home, Montana Youth Homes under Rocky Mountain Development Council, as well as volunteering for many other nonprofit organizations and is a suicide prevention QPR trainer. Emily worked for the State of Montana for six years and continues to contract services for licensing kinship foster families for Child and Family Services. Emily also now does home visits for the FLEX student exchange program. Emily was glad to return to the nonprofit sector in 2019 to work alongside other nonprofits to make meaningful change happen in the tri-county area. When she is out of the office, Emily enjoys cake decorating, and trying out new hobbies by taking adult education classes. Be sure to check out Emily's Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn! About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Be sure to check out the Storytelling For Professionals Course as well to make sure you nail that next interview!

In this insightful Bible study from the series "Growing Up and Getting Along: Lessons from 2nd Corinthians," Pastor James D. Gailliard unpacks 2 Corinthians 5:9-12. Titled "Taking Inventory," this lesson challenges us to evaluate our spiritual maturity, our motives, and how we live out our faith. Chinese medicine views the body as a garden, while Western medicine views it as a machine. Chinese medicine focuses on the health and wellness of the whole ecosystem, considering factors like soil, sunlight, and water. Kevin Preston, a practitioner of Chinese medicine, was drawn to this holistic approach after experiencing the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating his knee injury. He believes that Chinese medicine offers individualized treatments based on a person's unique history, genetics, and lifestyle. However, Chinese medicine has faced resistance in Western cultures due to fear of the foreign and unfamiliar. Kevin sees common issues in his practice, such as fatigue, inflammation, autoimmune conditions, and toxicity. He uses a combination of deductive reasoning, intuition, and active listening to understand the root cause of a person's symptoms and develop a treatment plan.In this conversation, Kevin Preston discusses the impact of medications on the body and the importance of addressing the root cause of health issues. He explains how anti-inflammatory medications can damage the gut flora and microbiome, leading to a decline in overall health. Kevin emphasizes the need to slow down, take inventory of one's life, and be open to change. He also discusses his upcoming event, the New Human Regeneration, and the power of immersive healing experiences. Let's talk about the grueling pressure to always do more. It's like there's an unwritten rule that if you're not constantly doing more, you're doing something wrong. We're supposed to celebrate the hustle, glorify the grind, and have this relentless need to achieve more, be more, and have more. But when will I feel like i'm doing enough? and what does "too much" look like? In this episode, we delve into the delicate balance between ambition and presence with a sobering conversation about some pressures in our lives and the tolls they take. Join us as we explore the tension and stress that arise when juggling multiple commitments, starting new ventures, and striving for more, even when we already have what we desire. How do you balance so many things? and most importantly - when do you stop and take inventory of your life and make sure that the challenges you've added are still align with the end goals. because at the end of the day, what if, doing less, being present, and valuing quality over quantity were actually the keys to a more fulfilling life? Maybe, just maybe, the relentless pressure to always “do more” is a distraction from what truly matters. Who knows! Enjoy! In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of daily tasks and responsibilities. We often find ourselves saying "I have to" rather than "I get to," a subtle yet profound shift in perspective that can transform our lives. Recently, during a vibrant discussion with my mastermind group—comprising insightful individuals like Dr. Charlie, Brandon, Raymond and myself—we delved into the power of this mindset shift and the importance of planning, clarity, and executing simple tasks with extraordinary care. Key Highlights: I. Mindset Shift: "Have To" vs. "Get To" a. Transforming "I have to" into "I get to" can turn mundane tasks into privileges. b. Reflecting on those who lack the ability to perform certain tasks can foster gratitude. c. This shift in perspective helps us appreciate daily activities and approach them with enthusiasm. II. The Importance of Planning and Clarity a. Planning provides clarity, eliminating the chaos of a directionless day. b. A clear plan allows for focused energy on essential tasks, reducing mental clutter. c. Clarity helps identify what truly matters, ensuring that energy is not wasted on non-essential activities. III. Execution and Flow a. Effective execution of a plan creates a sense of flow, much like a powerful stream overcoming resistance. b. Flow leads to unstoppable momentum, allowing us to navigate through obstacles effortlessly. c. Focusing on simple tasks and doing them extraordinarily well can lead to profound satisfaction and success IV. Taking Inventory and Practicing Essentialism a. Regularly take inventory of your activities to identify what serves your purpose and what doesn't. b. Practice essentialism by cutting out the noise and focusing on a few key tasks. c. Doing fewer things, but doing them better, leads to a more fulfilling and productive life. V. Navigating Through Challenges a. Embrace challenges with the understanding that you are going through them, not stuck in them. b. Each challenge offers lessons and growth opportunities, contributing to future success. c. Having a vision and plan helps navigate through difficulties, keeping the end goal in sight. By adopting the "get to" mindset, planning with clarity, and focusing on essential tasks, we can transform our daily lives from mundane routines to fulfilling experiences. It's about recognizing the privilege in every task, creating a clear path, and executing with purpose. As we navigate through life's challenges, this mindset will not only help us overcome obstacles but also enrich our journey with gratitude and satisfaction. Let's strive to do the simple things extraordinarily well and live each day with a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
