Having time in your day to simply think can seem impossible. There is so much to do, especially as a busy physician. Or it may seem like an unnecessary or wasteful way to spend time. However, I would submit to you that it's not. It's actually extremely productive. Having time to process, to mull things over, is healthy and indispensable.Neuroscience suggests that a wandering mind is an unhappy mind when not focused on a task. But this is different than that. When you give yourself time and room to work things out in your mind, your brain receives much needed space. Space that can create solutions, bring clarity, and even offer opportunities. Let's talk about it.“Leaders often have a lot of time that is not spent in tasks or meetings. You need to have time to have a vision, create a vision, get creative. Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the number of tasks on your to-do list? Do you find yourself struggling to complete everything on time? If so, you're not alone. Many people struggle to manage their time effectively, but there is a solution: time blocking. Time blocking is a simple yet powerful technique that can help you organize your time and achieve more in less time. It involves dividing your day into blocks of time and assigning specific tasks or activities to each block. By doing this, you can focus on one task at a time and avoid distractions, which can help you be more productive and efficient. But how do you get started with time blocking? The first step is to create a SUCCESS SCHEDULE. This is a daily schedule that outlines all the tasks you need to complete and when you plan to do them. You can create a SUCCESS SCHEDULE using a calendar or a planner, and it should include all your work-related tasks as well as your personal tasks. Once you have your SUCCESS SCHEDULE, it's time to start time blocking. To do this, divide your day into blocks of time, typically ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Assign specific tasks or activities to each block, and be sure to include breaks and downtime. It's important to be realistic when creating your schedule and to allow for unexpected events or interruptions. When you start working on a task, focus solely on that task and avoid distractions. Turn off your phone, close unnecessary tabs on your computer, and let others know that you are not to be disturbed. By doing this, you can complete your tasks more efficiently and effectively. The benefits of time blocking and a SUCCESS SCHEDULE are numerous. Not only can it help you be more productive and efficient, but it can also reduce stress and increase your overall satisfaction with your day. By having a clear plan for your day, you can avoid the feeling of being overwhelmed and instead feel in control of your time and your life, time blocking and a SUCCESS SCHEDULE can have a significant impact on your daily life. By taking the time to plan your day and prioritize your tasks, you can achieve more in less time and feel more in control of your time and your life. So why not give it a try and see how it can improve your life? Your success is waiting! Most entrepreneurs have a difficult time understanding exactly how to stop wasting time.  When you're self-employed, it's easy to take a “short break” to surf the internet, check email, return a call, talk to a peer who stops by your office, or read blogs, but those “short breaks” can easily turn into hours of wasted time each day.  This includes unnecessary chats with colleagues, long lunches, or non-focused or misguided meetings that do not accomplish goals and resolve issues. The success of your business venture depends on your ability to buckle down and learn how to stay laser focused.  Let's talk about three essential steps to help you stop wasting time, stay focused, and have productive work days, so you can be on the path of achieving your goals. 1. Always Prioritize2. Get OrganizedAnswer this question, How much time do you think you waste each day?   Remember it all adds up.  Five minutes here, 10 minutes there, and 30 minutes on something fun yet not productive.  Did you know that some of the most productive people in the world swear by time blocking?  Ever heard of Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Michael Hyatt, or Cal Newport?  Yep – all time-blockers. They're squeezing every drop of productivity from their days, and so can you.For more on time blocking, check out an article I wrote by going to https://bit.ly/Time_Blocking. Consider using a time log to occasionally monitor what you do with your time every day for a week or two. You might be amazed at how you actually spend your time versus how you think you spend your time. To download a sample time log, go to http://www.accountabilitycoach.com/time-log/.
