Join Philippa and Robbie for the final episode of the Healing series before they take a short break. They'll be back in September with a new series and more guests (some old voices and some new ones). Healing is a complex, layered process that profoundly impacts all areas of our lives. Despite feeling healed, we might still encounter old patterns resurfacing from time to time. Today, Philippa and Robbie reflect on the layers of their personal healing journeys that have emerged throughout the recording of this series. It is their experience, that once the healing starts, it never stops! Today, Robbie is joined by the amazing energy worker, Anna. Together, they delve into the healing power of understanding past lives and how this knowledge can help us access our Inner Wisdom. Have you ever wished you had "trusted your gut"? That innate knowing you can't explain is your Inner Wisdom trying to guide you. For HSPs, energy work can be a powerful tool to unlock deeper parts of ourselves, facilitating healing in ways our logical mind can't. We all possess the answers within us; we just need to learn how to access them. Anna reveals that it all begins with self-awareness. Our true self transcends our body, thoughts, and emotions. By cultivating self-awareness, we can connect to our inner wisdom and uncover the answers we seek. More about Anna: Anna is an energy worker, helping people connect with the healing power of their own Inner Wisdom. She is a Past Life Regression Therapist and High Sensory Coach. She has studied widely in the fields of personal development and spiritual healing for over 30 years, including areas such as Inner-Child Healing, Meditation, Hypnosis, Angelic Reiki, Channelling, Non-Duality and ACIM. This combination of High Sensory Coaching, a variety of personal development skills, and the ability to channel loving Energy into the session means Anna can successfully guide people through the process of accessing their own intuition, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the spiritual aspects of their being. Anna also specialises in Past Life Regression Therapy (PLRT) and has come to realise that death does not set us free. When we exit a life holding on to unresolved pains, fears or regrets, they remain with us on a subliminal level, sometimes over many lifetimes. These unresolved experiences and beliefs often impact the nature of our relationships, and the quality of our current lives. So, using the healing power of PLRT, Anna tenderly helps people directly experience their past lives to explore their unresolved issues and compassionately heal what has been waiting to be set free in this lifetime. Today, Philippa and Robbie explore these questions, sharing their personal experiences of reconnecting with their bodies and the profound impact it has had on their lives. If you often find yourself disassociating from your body, know that you are not alone and there is no shame in this. For those who desire to reconnect with their bodies, this episode offers practical ideas and a gentle breathing exercise you can try as you listen. If anything resonates with you, trust those intuitive nudges. It gets easier with time, and the reward is finding a community that accepts us as we are, providing safe spaces during difficult moments. Today we have another incredibly insightful guest episode to share with you, where Robbie is in conversation with Katie Whittier. Katie shares her story of being a high achiever, navigating a hectic lifestyle in a new city, with no support system or sleep, until she realised something had to change. Three years into her recovery she was diagnosed with autism, this revelation led her to realign her life to better support herself. Listen along to hear how Katie's journey has unfolded, as she draws from her experiences and research, to help us understand brain function and healing, emphasising the importance of self-compassion. Find out more about Katie below. Info about Katie Whittier: Katie Whittier helps high sensory individuals heal their anxiety, pain or self-doubt by training their nervous system so they can live with the ease and sovereignty they deserve. She began her career in politics, working on such high-profile campaigns as President Barack Obama's 2008 race and U.S. Senator Patty Murray's 2010 re-election. She went on to serve as a communications consultant for several high-visibility organizations until a major mental breakdown changed the course of her life. Three years into her recovery, she was diagnosed with autism, and that's when her healing journey began in earnest. She developed an intense interest in how the brain and nervous system work, and how neurological differences impact how we experience the world. To that end, she studied applied neurology and used its techniques to process her past traumas, de-weaponize her anxiety and develop the resilience necessary to live free from her old masks. She now coaches others to carve their own healing path so they can leverage their highly sensitive brains to propel their lives toward the abundance and freedom they deserve. In today's episode recorded at the end of 2023, Philippa and guest Jackie Williamson explore and share their similar journeys working in law and how they had to navigate the ups and downs of working in this sector as highly sensitive people. Jackie is an ex solicitor who helps overwhelmed HSPs raise their vibration and recover their mojo. Listen along to hear more about: Navigating the workplace as a HSP Signs of burnout (what to look out for, how this can show up in your day to day life, inside and out of work) Effects of burnout if ignored (how does it make you feel? Do you often feel alone and find yourself questioning why, whilst everyone else seems to have it all together...) How to move forwards and make changes that positively impact your life (empowering yourself to use your natural strengths as a HSP, finding new outlets that bring you joy, finding a supportive community and other HSPs to share your experiences of life with) If you ever find yourself experiencing the early stages of burnout - overwhelm, anxiety and exhaustion to name just three - but pushing through these feelings because that's what you feel you “have” to do, this episode might just be what you need to hear today. As HSPs, we have access to so much wisdom, but for most of us, the teaching we've gotten hasn't included how to trust our own inner knowings. In fact, it's often been about trusting authority figures over ourselves. In this episode, Philippa and Robbie talk about the joy of connecting to other wise women, being able to show up authentically in those spaces, and see their own wisdom and power reflected back to them. Robbie shares about her journey to trust her intuition, even when her brain is "logic-ing" her away from it, and Philippa shares a powerful visualization that helped her step into a new (wiser, bolder) version of herself. Self-Love is one of Robbie's favorite topics! The messages we internalize growing up are often about conditional love, so that's how many of us learn to love ourselves (and others). If we do [fill in the blank] we'll be deserving of love. Until we do [blank], we don't fully deserve love. From there, we judge ourselves mercilessly about how we're falling short and constantly feel like we're not enough. Learning to love yourself is truly life-changing. It helps create a sense of safety and appreciation within your own being. And the benefits ripple out to all the people in your life because the more you love yourself, the more you're able to love others. Listen in as Philippa and Robbie share stories and strategies from their own paths to self-love. If you're interested in learning more about Robbie's upcoming Self-Love Club, email the the pod with Self-Love in the subject. Welcome back, lovely listeners! Today, we're diving into the deep waters of burnout with the incredible Josh Speraneo. Get ready for a candid discussion about the signs, struggles, and triumphs of burnout. Josh spills the beans on his personal burnout journey in his 20s -what it looked like, how he bounced back, and the invaluable lessons he learned along the way. But he's not alone in this; our very own hosts, Robbie and Philippa, bare their souls and share their burnout tales. It's a heart-to-heart conversation that'll leave you nodding in recognition. But hey, this isn't just a pity party. These three warriors are laying it all out there so you can spot burnout in yourself faster than you can say "self-care." No one wants you loitering in the burnout zone, trust us. As HSPs, we're more prone to burnout because we care, feel, and process like no other. Brace yourselves, because compassion fatigue is a real rollercoaster. But fear not! The magic happens on the flip side. It's a no-nonsense conversation about the challenges we face. But guess what? There's a roadmap to healing, and it involves some serious inner work. Find out how to fill your self-worth cup, make self-care a priority, and build a sustainable plan to keep burnout at bay. It's not just a podcast episode; it's a conversation about self-discovery and resilience. Josh is a certified Master Life Coach on a mission to change the way the world views high sensitivity. More than that, he has a deep desire to help highly sensitive people and empaths live vibrant and fulfilling lives where they're able to make the most of the gifts that come with these traits! Being an HSP is such an important part of who we are, and for many of us, realizing we are highly sensitive is life-changing. In this conversation, Robbie and Philippa acknowledge this while also looking at the other things that inform who we are and how we experience the world. Who is at the core of you? What qualities does your unconditioned self have? What wisdom does she bring? Philippa and Robbie *really* didn't know where this conversation was going, but they trusted their gifts and each other, leaned into their intuition, and followed the juice. After a break over the Summer, Philippa and Robbie are recording new episodes in their signature style. Relaxed, deep, sometimes irreverent but always real! They are so happy to be back. They will have a few guests for you too over the coming months. They really enjoyed being part of the recent HSP Awareness Summit and new listeners are so welcome to the podcast community. It's great to have you here along with the wonderful, faithful listeners who tune in each week. Thank you all for being here. This week is all about being our unique selves. We're HSPs but that doesn't mean we're all the same - after all we're human beings and we come in many forms. Take Robbie and Philippa, they share a mission and values but they're really quite different. They share how the trait shows up for them and Robbie also shares an idea from an article by André Solo on the Sensitive Refuge website where he talks about 3 types of HSPS - supersensers, superfeelers and aesthetes. They both identify with all 3 but to a different extent. This is just one way of looking at the trait and they encourage you to embrace your own unique gifts and shine in the world. They hope you will get to a place where, like Robbie, you can say "It's my trait!". Believing the trait is a real thing is the first big step for most of us and once you know you have the trait, learn what it offers you and the world. You are so needed. They also mention that they're not bypassing the challenges of the trait, and those challenges are real, but what gets them fired up is talking about the strength that comes with sensitivity. They'd like to do an episode listing all the ways the trait shows up and they need your help to do that. Please get in touch and let them know so they can do an episode that will help other HSPs see themselves and help them on their journey of acceptance of the trait. Thanks for listening and being with Philippa and Robbie on this path. You are so appreciated. This week on the podcast, Philippa is talking to her good friend Jules about grief. We're not all good at talking about the hard things in life, particularly grief, and Philippa and Jules really wanted to talk about this in the hope that you might feel more able to talk about it. Jules is a therapist in the NHS in the UK and also in private practice. She specialises in children and young people and she also works with adults and she is a supervisor for other therapists. Grief and loss have played a large part in Jules' life, both personally and professionally, and she graciously shares her wisdom with us in this conversation. Taking time to emerge herself in the grief she felt when her father died, really helped her to move through it. The weight of the grief felt unbearable at times but she feels so much lighter for having worked through it. Jules' advice - be gentle and kind with yourself, take it one step at a time and share if you can. TRIGGER WARNING: This is a thought-provoking episode around addiction and may not be for everyone. Please take care of yourself and skip it if you feel it might not be good for you right now. Our guest is Jane Elizabeth Aston who is in recovery for drink and drug addiction and is a huge advocate for 12 step recovery programmes. She is an HSP and now coaches people in recovery. Philippa is the adult child of an alcoholic and it is only in recent years that she has come to terms with the devastating effect of her mother's drinking. It was this inner work that drew Philippa to want to talk to Jane about addiction and the correlation with being an HSP. This feels like an important conversation to be having, even if it hard to hear for some of us. Whilst we can't quote any studies, both Philippa and Jane feel that whilst not every addict will be an HSP, a higher than average number will be for all the reasons discussed in this episode. In today's episode, Philippa and Robbie delve into the importance of using our voices, speaking our truths, and sharing our stories. Tremendous healing can come from sharing our experiences and knowings with others, whether that's through a conversation with a friend, creating art, or starting a podcast. ;) And using your voice from a place of truth and vulnerability can create incredible connection. Allowing others to truly see you is a gift. We need more sensitive voices in the world because we can help shape things toward a world that works for everyone. We hope you feel empowered to share your voice with others. Robbie and Philippa are taking a break to spend time with their families over the summer. We considered taking a break from the podcast too but in this episode we talk about out thought process and why we decided to keep the episodes coming out even while we're away. It was a very intentional decision but is one we wanted to explain as we truly believe that taking a break from our every day lives, if we are able to do so, is really important. Important for everyone but especially HSPs. To make really good use of a break, we need time to make sure our soul is getting what it needs. Space in our day and enough downtime is vital to let whatever needs to be created by our soul come to the surface. Make time in your schedule for a break even if you don't know what you're going to do with it. What needs to happen will come. In the episode we ask, what can you do to create more spaciousness to take a break? Let us know what you come up with. Sarah Green is a coach and she currently concentrates on self-knowledge and career development with her clients. In this conversation with Philippa, Sarah talks about conditioning, expectations, permission, finding our own voice - basically a lot of Philippa's favourite subjects! As coaches, we continuously reflect on our practice and our own work and here Sarah discusses how self-reflection and reflections from working with her clients inform her coaching practice. It's a wonderful example to us all on how taking time and space to reconnect with our core self and challenging our thinking can help us find our own voice and ultimately fulfilment. Have you ever felt different? And did that somehow make you feel less than or not good enough? In this episode, Philippa and Robbie dive into the deep need we have as humans to be accepted by others and also our (sometimes conflicting) desire to be our unique selves. Philippa shares about being the black sheep of her family, how the meaning of that has evolved for her, and how self-forgiveness has played an important part of the journey. Robbie shares about the importance of kindness and diversity. Being your unique self is not only okay, it's really needed in the world. Today we welcome our good friend Trude to the podcast. Trude Sletteland lives in Bergen in Norway. She's a facilitator. a coach, a business owner, an artist, an author, a singer and a fighter for the things she feels passionate about. Trude told us she wanted to talk about the acceptance of and gratitude for emotions and we both said "Yes!" straight away. Trude tells us about her realisation as a young person that she experiences the world differently to others. What other people see as great, she sees and feels as marvellous, wonderful and amazing. This knowledge allows her to work through more difficult emotions to get back to a place of love and joy: her happy place. It also allows her to facilitate others as they work through more difficult emotions. Trude wants us all to know that we belong in the emotions of love and joy and other wonderful emotions; it's what makes the world a better place. Having Trude as our friend makes our world a better place, that's for sure. We are so happy to share Trude with you. Everyone needs Trude in their life! To find out more check out the links below. Who says everything has to be extraordinary to be worthwhile? In this episode, Philippa and Robbie take a look at what it means to live an ordinary life (and how extraordinary that can be). We talk about the importance of presence, mindfulness, and appreciation for all the little things that as HSPs bring us such joy. We also dig into how comparison can spoil a perfectly lovely moment and the importance of looking within to follow our own wisdom.
