Lisa Rusczyk and Dona Murphy invite Julia back to the show, and we discuss the chaos energy in the world these days. Julia lifts us up with her intention, attitude, compassion... and her love for life. This is a video podcast on Spotify and YouTube.Want to know more about Julia?Julia Harrell is a Clairvoyant and Spiritual Guide who helps Highly Sensitive People, Empaths, and Intuitives to overcome their sensitivities, heal themselves, and thrive. As a rock drummer in San Francisco, Julia struggled to fit into environments geared toward drinking and spacing out. Once she recognized this pattern, she began meditating and found her true place through spiritual training and practice. She went from being told she was ‘too sensitive' and shutting the world out with loud drums to not only learning to overcome the sensitivities but also opening her natural spiritual abilities to see (Clairvoyance) and know (Claircognizance) truth for herself. This shift in her life led Julia to study clairvoyant development over the past 30 years. Since 2008, she has guided thousands of students through professional readings, healings, and teachings. She now witnesses miracles weekly as her students wake up to who they truly are and begin to understand their purpose.Julia was featured in Marin Living's Groundbreaking Women edition and has been a guest on several podcasts. She also had her own podcast channel on Awareness Ascending, an all-livestream awakening network. She is a contributing author to Olivia Whiteman's upcoming book, Harmony in Chakras Volume  3: Raising Happy and Healthy Children: For Entrepreneurs Working at Home. 206 If you've ever read a marriage book, heard some relationship advice that seemed logical, or sat in a therapy session and thought, "Why is this so much harder for me than it seems to be for everyone else?"—there is a biological reason for that.Today we dive into what that is, and why a lot of traditional marriage advice just doesn't work for us as highly sensitive people. The truth is, most marriage advice does not take into account the HSP reality – our highly sensitive nervous systems and brains. So of course it's going to flop for us if we are not first respecting and honoring our physiological differences and needs. To expect traditional marriage advice to work for us is like expecting an orchid to bloom in a desert. It's not going to happen. So tune in to hear the top 5 popular pieces of advice that fail us sensitives, and what actually works instead – all illustrated with HSP-resonant nature analogies (sometimes some good old garden metaphors can really clear things up!)By the end of this episode, you're going to understand why, to thrive in your relationship, you don't need to try harder at traditional marriage advice's top down approach – like communicating with specific phrases– and that nourishing your sensitive system at the root level is what will make the biggest difference–and make the rest come quite naturally. What does that mean? Why does alcohol feel like the only way to quiet your mind? Drinking to deal with sensory overload and overwhelming 'white noise' was a daily necessity for Scot. After growing up surrounded by generational alcohol use, he turned to alcohol early in life, finding it was the only thing that allowed him to overcome shyness and function socially. It wasn't until later in life, after receiving a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD, that Scot finally understood the true battle he was fighting—a fight against his own neurodivergent needs that led him to a devastating cycle of returns to old patterns and regret. Scot and Coach Cole discuss: Scot's early years in a family shaped by heavy drinking and loss How local drinking culture and “always up for it” expectations influenced his choices Using alcohol as “Dutch courage” to socialize as a shy, neurodivergent teen Discovering autism and ADHD as a lens for self-understanding instead of self-blame Nightly wine, hidden bottles, blackouts, and the impact on his partner and kids His vivid description of mental “noise” and drinking to deal with sensory overload The moment with his daughter that sparked a clear decision to quit for good Embracing neurodivergent strengths and navigating social events alcohol-free And more… Related Episodes: I drink to f*ck my brain up, just for a little while. One of the common behavior patterns we HSPs can be prone to is people pleasing – or partner pleasing! Interestingly, on the surface people pleasing seems lovely, it can wreak real emotional havoc and really hurt our intimate relationship over time. Today my special guest, Todd Smith, a highly sensitive person and host of the podcast,  Stress Management for Highly Sensitive People, and I are going to talk about all about people and partner pleasing: what it looks like, what it leads to (ahem, talk about resentment! And overwhelm!), why we do it, and how it affects us and our marriages. You'll hear examples of how we both have "people pleased” in our own lives and relationships, and client stories, as well.  Then we will offer several ways to break this habit or pattern, and ultimately be TRUE to yourself, more authentic and honest in your marriage, and feel more loved for who you really are.Whether you think you may sometimes fall in to people pleasing, or not, you may be surprised at what you'll learn about yourself and other people in your life as you listen to this fun, important, laughter-filled conversation.
