The capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing
Empathic, emotionally-intelligent, deep thinking, fun and open-minded are a few of the words that come to mind when it comes to describing Tanya Moushi. In this episode we continue exploring: what is the feminine business model? For me, the foundation of a feminine business model is embracing feminine values to integrate and co-create with the more structured values of the masculine. And while these core aspects of life are genderless and cannot be divided into a dual worldview, conscious life itself is a dance where dualities make up the whole. So in the past, this has been rather a one-sided dance . And if you ask me, we're stepping on our toes all the time because business is largely still dominated by what we call the masculine values which have traditionally been rewarded with money and respect, and have been thought to provide a higher perspective on how business and the economy should be operated. This has created much suffering. Men women and children are suffering- all genders are suffering, as is our planet. It's a deeply imbalanced model so it's been important for me to bring guests on the podcast who are changing the status quo in business helping to create language and missing aspects of the feminine so that they can be integrated into a business model that benefits everyone. Why Tanya's nickname became "chief empathy officer" Why Seth Godin is Tanya's most influential mentor Why Tanya wanted to create a new vision for business that's rooted in love. How we can bring the GECKO Model to every aspect of our lives. Why daily inspiration is necessary. Why a values-driven approach is not only personally fulfilling, but professionally profitable. Why Tanya wants women to see that the things they're most hesitant about: vulnerability, care, deep gratitude--are actually competitive advantages in today's marketplace. Why many women underestimate their own strengths and overvalue those of others. Tanya Moushi is a Good-Business Enthusiast. She is a Consultant at Moushi & Co, an interdisciplinary firm that believes that business gets better by applying functions of philosophy and art, and is nicknamed the Chief Empathy Officer among her peers. She's an avid supporter of Downtown Phoenix, believes in the power of generosity and cites Seth Godin as one of her most influential mentors.

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Gemini modeling, published by Tsvi Benson-Tilsen on January 22, 2023 on The AI Alignment Forum. [Metadata: crossposted from. Written 17 June 2022. I'm likely to not respond to comments promptly.] A gemini model is a kind of model that's especially relevant for minds modeling minds. Two scenarios You stand before a tree. How big is it? How does it grow? What can it be used to make? Where will it fall if you cut it here or there? Alice usually eats Cheerios in the morning. Today she comes downstairs, but doesn't get out a bowl and spoon and milk, and doesn't go over to the Cheerios cupboard. Then she sees green bananas on the counter. Then she goes and gets a bowl and spoon and milk, and gets a box of Cheerios from the cupboard. What happened? We have some kind of mental model of the tree, and some kind of mental model of Alice. In the Cheerios scenario, we model Alice by calling on ourselves, asking how we would behave; we find that we'd behave like Alice if we liked Cheerios, and believed that today there weren't Cheerios in the cupboard, but then saw the green bananas and inferred that Bob had gone to the grocery store, and inferred that actually there were Cheerios. This seems different from how we model the tree; we're not putting ourselves in the tree's shoes. Gemini modeling and empathic modeling What's the difference though, really, between these two ways of modeling? Clearly Alice is like us in a way the tree isn't, and we're using that somehow; we're modeling Alice using empathy ("in-feeling"). This essay describes another related difference: We model Alice's belief in a proposition by having in ourselves another instance of that proposition. (Or: by having in ourselves the same proposition, or a grasping of that proposition.) We don't model the tree by having another instance of part of the tree in us. I call modeling some thing by having inside oneself another instance of the thing--having a twin of it--"gemini modeling". Gemini modeling is different from empathic modeling. Empathic modeling is tuning yourself to be like another agent in some respects, so that their behavior is explainable as what [you in your current tuning] would do. This is a sort of twinning, broadly, but you're far from identical to the agent you're modeling; you might make different tradeoffs, have different sense acuity, have different concepts, believe different propositions, have different skills, and so on; you tune yourself enough that those differences don't intrude on your predictions. Whereas, the proposition "There are Cheerios in the cupboard.", with its grammatical structure and its immediate implications for thought and action, can be roughly identical between you and Alice. As done by humans modeling humans, empathic modeling may or may not involve gemini modeling: we model Alice by seeing how we'd act if we believed certain propositions, and those propositions are gemini modeled; on the other hand, we could do an impression of a silly friend by making ourselves "more silly", which is maybe empathic modeling without gemini modeling. And, gemini modeling done by humans modeling humans involves empathic modeling: to see the implications of believing in a proposition or caring about something, we access our (whole? partial?) agentic selves, our agency. Gemini modeling vs. general modeling In some sense we make a small part of ourselves "like a tree" when we model a tree falling: our mental model of the tree supports [modeled forces] having [modeled effects] with resulting [modeled dynamics], analogous to how the actual tree moves when under actual forces. So what's different between gemini modeling and any other modeling? When modeling a tree, or a rock, or anything, don't we have a little copy or representation of some aspects of the thing in us? Isn't that like having a so...

Money has its way of interfering with happiness if you have an unhealthy relationship with it. Additionally, it could badly affect your relationship with yourself and your surroundings. As a life and business coach for 28 years, Morgana Rae shares her experiences dealing with money and how she has guided entrepreneurs, innovators, healers, and humanitarians to heal the rift between heart, spirit, and money. She is also an international number-one best-selling author and award-winning entrepreneur. Morgana talks about how empaths should have a healthy relationship with money centered on love, integrity, and sustainability. She shares how it's difficult for empaths to heal others because they also feel the pain of others while dealing with their own. She mentions that her first client when it comes to money is herself. The four existential pain points of life experience. How her eating disorder back then was a reflection of her relationship with money. Morgana mentions feeling safe is the basis for the willingness to love. Money as an excuse for setting boundaries and not being able to do what we want. She shares a client who realized who her true friends are because of money. Her reason for becoming a life and business coach. Morgana shares a coach she had who made her realize why she was unknowingly pushing money away. Steps in finding and getting rid of the "Money Monster". She explains the process of "Financial Alchemy". The lessons and possibilities she learned from her clients. Avoiding the word "broke" when discussing finances. “Anger can be illogical and it can cause a lot of harm. But it also can be righteous and it can be rectifying something that's wrong.”— Ganga DeviWhat is the role of anger in our lives? And what can we learn from our sense of it?This episode of Living Jewishly is an instalment of Scared Time, a podcast devoted to the healing art of the Hebrew calendar. As we bid goodbye to Chanukah, we enter Tevet, the tenth month of the calendar. This is a time of cold and darkness, but one that evokes a fiery emotion. Its 10th day commemorates the onset of the siege of Jerusalem — no wonder that Tevet is associated with the sense of anger. Tevet is also connected to the story of Purim, as it is in the month of Tevet that Esther was taken to the King Achashverosh's palace to be chosen as Queen. Most of us are only aware of anger when we feel it or when others feel it toward us, but in these heightened states we are unable to reflect on and understand the wisdom and potential carried within it.Tevet offers us the rare opportunity to examine anger from a place of peace.Through drawing on Kabbalistic themes and psychological tools, we may work intentionally with anger and see it with new eyes. This episode explores anger's purpose — how it can point us to unmet needs and fuel us to make necessary changes in our lives, relationships, and social systems.“That is what Tevet gives us to work with. It's understanding: what is anger? What does it mean to play with the fire of anger?”— BluthThis episode discusses:How anger can be used as a tool to create positive and necessary changeComparisons between ecological fire and the fire of anger, and how each plays a role in stripping away what no longer serves How to differentiate between the needs and the strategies connected with our angerHighlights:01:30 Welcome to Tevet02:58 Purim & The Book of Esther03:53 Chanukah & Purim06:39 Tevet & anger08:04 Comparison between anger & fire10:46 Emotions as data points12:10 Regenerative anger & trauma15:13 Empathic communication & reframing19:58 Our needs v. our strategies 24:45 The Language of Emotions26:51 Ganga Devi's story31:41 The Work That Reconnects33:10 Tools within & without us37:31 Cultivating integrityLinks:Marshall Rosenberghttps://www.nonviolentcommunication.comAlexandra Paretta, Tantra practitionerhttps://www.wovenyin.comKarla McLaren, The Language of Emotionshttps://karlamclaren.com/product/the-language-of-emotions-book https://karlamclaren.com/understanding-and-befriending-angerJoanna Macy, The Work That Reconnectshttps://www.joannamacy.net/mainTo get in contact or learn more about Living Jewishly:Visit our website: https://livingjewishly.orgVisit our learning community: https://www.schooloflivingjewishly.comFollow us on Instagram: @living.jewishlyWatch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO2YEegjapKpQeXG6zh6tzwor send us an email at email@example.com
Jennifer Moore came from a family who had the ability to imagine how horrible things could be. She was exhausted, overwhelmed, feeling stressed, and hurting all the time. As she learned to calm her nervous system down, she started to develop the tools for herself that she would later share with other people. She was born an intuitive and had her first prophetic dream when she was 9 years old. She was already on the path to recovery when she went to grad school. She worked as a psychic and an artist, running ceremonies and workshops. She studied breathwork and reiki modalities, worked with intuition and tarot cards and worked with self-help groups. She considered becoming a Unitarian Universalist minister. She taught alternative healing but lacked confidence. She was on a path to a Master of Divinity degree to become a minister, but she changed her course to Master of Psychology and Religion. She realized she was not cut-out for the politics of the church – to be the parent where everyone is working out their family of origin issues, or the mean girl politics that organized religion brings. She didn't always recognize what was hers and what was not. She felt responsible for the struggles her clients were having. She receives guidance and information well, but it substantially improved when she stopped eating sugar. What she puts in her body effects the guidance. The cleanliness of the food effects the ability to receive intuitive information. Sugar gives a boost in the short term, but long-term, it compromises your filters and shields, and contributes to depression, anxiety and despair. After giving up sugar, her filter was clean. At 23, she quit smoking, gained 40 pounds in four months, and found herself in a raging eating disorder. After doing the personal work, she found a psychotherapist who helped Jennifer realize that the stress she was picking up was not just hers, but also others' stress. Jennifer's book, “Empathic Mastery” explains a five-step system: Recognize, release, protect, connect, and act. When she learned about metaphysics and magic, she was taught to build up her filters and shields. However, she recognized that she was feeling out of sorts. She asked, "what's not mine?" She picked up energy. She learned to take a deep breath and place her hand on her heart. Then, she would send the energy to where it belongs. She protects herself by setting boundaries. She decides when she should get involved by determining if it is an aligned place to be. She ran into a telephone pole and totaled her car by not trusting her intuition. She's been doing readings (including Akashic records) for people for decades. Jennifer teaches at the Empathic Mastery Academy. She developed her tools for 30 years. She came up in a time where psychics were like the red-headed stepchildren. It was usually considered weird. Now, it is common, and safer to do the work. Back then, there wasn't the kind of information that there is now. She teaches how to get in touch with self, get calm and regulate our nervous systems. We need to self-soothe, develop tools, do breathwork, and do the Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping). This way, we won't pick up the distressed energies in the world around us and we can start to become beacons for calm, love, and healing. Her "Even Though" tattoo on her hand reminds her to relax. Empaths also can tune into ecstasy, beauty and joy. Her podcast is “The Empathic Mastery Show” (Empathicmasteryshow.com).In “The Wellness Universe Guide to Self Help - 25 Tools for Stress Relief”, Jennifer wrote about using EFT to let go of stress. In the fourth book, “The Wellness Universe Guide to Complete Self Care” – 25 Tools for Goddesses, Jennifer wrote about using tapping to eliminate cravings. Her newest contribution is in a book entitled "Co-Creating with the Divine".Support the show

This is the second part of the lecture series on building effective teams and dealing with difficult people. The concepts taught here involve models of teamwork (Action centred Leadership, the five dysfunctions of a team), trust - both as a concept and a pre-requisite, culture, homeostatic teams and finally tools and techniques for fostering good team work. In the second half of the podcast we examine dealing with difficult people from the perspective of understanding the triggers, root cause analysis, rapport building, the energy investment model, the ELCR framework, self awareness, humility and insight. In other words, the recent data has more influence on the statistic at the current sample than the older data. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/drpsychmomshow/message
Original Article: https://eggshelltherapy.com/parentification/What is Parentification? What does it mean to be parentified? Parentification is a form of invisible childhood trauma. Parentification occurs when the roles between a child and a parent are reversed. You know you were parentified if as a child you have to step up as the caretaker, mediator, or protector of the family. Parentification is a form of mental abuse and boundary violation. You know the crushing feeling: you're left alone in a room with someone you're not 100% socially comfortable with and immediately your palms start sweating, you're wondering what on earth you're going to talk about. You're dreading silence, what should you say? What should you do? Today I'm sharing the biggest lessons I've learned from going from being a shy and awkward person to now enjoying going to social gatherings and even, dare I say it, mingling. When I was deeply socially anxious, I didn't know there was anything I could do about it - I just thought that I was wired that way and I had to go though life dreading those awkward conversations. Now, I realize that this too, can be learned and practiced! Listen today for my three-step strategy to help you feel more comfortable and less drained in any social gathering! * Part five of our exploration of Horrors! * Baggi: Obese, hairless, arboreal Horrors. * Tough, fleshy sacks that swallow their prey whole. * Feed on feelings of helplessness or frustration. * Karma Void: Must spend more Karma than normal to affect them. * Bloodshaper: Astral Horror that creates a physical construct they act through. * Create corrupted blood charms that infect their victims. * Feed on feelings of alienation and self-loathing suffered by the victim. * Opponent for campaign-level or major story arcs. * Deceiver: Shapeshifting infiltrators that specialize in illusion and deception. * Empathic and telepathic powers to read targets and replace/impersonate them. * Feed on feelings of paranoia and distrust. * Despairthought: The Horror that tormented J'Role in “The Longing Ring” * Thick, maggoty-looking worm that moves around on stubby arms. * Astrally projects and deceives parents into infecting their child with it. * Speaks in their victim's mind, feeds on their isolation, betrayal, and depression. * Eventually tries to provoke the victim to kill themselves. * Doppler: Body Snatchers or doppelgangers. * Kills the victim and grows a duplicate of them that replaces them. * Actual psychological syndrome: Capgras Syndrome * Dread Iota: Microscopic Horrors that infect water and are ingested by their victims. * Cause victims to suffer a wasting death, then animate their corpse to spread them. * Cross between modern germ theory and old ideas of illness caused by evil spirits. * Kreescra: Short, twisted humanoids with out-of-proportion limbs and features. * Stalk victims and cause nightmares, preventing full night's sleep. * Prevents recovery and can cause death if not defeated. * Mindslugs: Small, black worms that burrow into your skull and eat your brain. * Ambush and Gain Surprise make them difficult to notice. * If they get started on a victim, it is painful and difficult to remove them. * Miseryworm: Larger, more powerful, despairthought variant. * Similar tactic of approaching parents and targeting their children. * Rather than driving the victim to suicide, warps them into Wretched Imps. * Scurrier: Small, chubby humanoids with exposed brains. * Create and repair traps in ruins and kaers, feed off the pain of adepts that get trapped in them. * Can complicate kaer delves or Horror lairs because even previously traveled areas might not be safe. Before you begin, check out the previous episode, "Developing Empathic Skills" to learn the number one problem that empaths experience. In order to heighten our empathic skills, we first must conquer being a victim to our own gifts. This week, Claudette dives deep into the positive aspects of being an empath and how this intuition compliments universal law. At first, you may believe only certain people have the ability to be empathic, the reality is that we all have this inner voice. Let's move beyond a label and hone in on our empathic ability to help those in need without being used.
This is the 2nd episode of my series on empathic entrepreneurship. I am excited to interview Laura Voss. Laura Voss is the owner of Oh My Fitness Coaching, a boxing and confidence coaching business she created seven years ago and is co-owner of Bella Cosa Salon in San Jose, CA. Which she started running during the pandemic, smarttttt, right?Beginning with in-home personal training, she found the clients drawn to her craved support most of all for empowerment, mental health, and stress management, so has a unique approach to help her clients feel their most fierce every day. Laura is married and spoils a fur-baby, Pretzel, who is the true star of Oh My Fitness Coaching and of their household. A lover of hiking, a good Chardonnay, dancing like Richard Simmons, brussels sprouts, cocoon days, and amazing pasta, Laura believes balance is essential for your physical and mental health. She also can't get enough of traveling to see new places, hand-lettering, and creativity, -—and, most of all, flying to see her nieces and hosting over-the-top-get-togethers to spoil people! Laura is a fierce advocate and volunteer for young female entrepreneurs, those experiencing homelessness, and survivors of sexual violence. This fire to help every person feel loved, included, and empowered propels Laura in her business every day as well as in her life as a whole. Some Topics we discuss: Creativity is one of the strengths of sensitive souls and empaths; when we don't allow ourselves to express that creativity, we feel smaller. For an empath, balance is the most important thing. It is figuring out the best ways to take care of yourself. Comparing yourself to others is a natural behavior, but we have to workto stop doing that if it is stopping your progress. When you over-give - why your overgive and what to do instead. How to manage being an introvert and an entrepreneur.
