Don't look now but Journalism is dead. We don't know for sure the exact date of this obituary. We do know it was in the last twenty years. So then how is it that nobody told us? Many abused children cling to the hope that growing up will bring escape and freedom from their abusive homes. But the personality formed in the environment of coercive control and abuse does not conform to adult life. The survivor is left with fundamental problems in trust, autonomy, and initiative. The Center for Disease Control found that children who witness abuse are at greater risk of: alcohol and substance abuse; health conditions like cancer, depression, and diabetes; poor performance in school; and an early death. Children who grow up around domestic violence also believe it is normal, and often repeat the cycle of violence in their own adult lives. Subscribe to the podcast. And then there is the extreme case of the Turpin's in Southern California who severely abused and traumatized their 13 children. They were found captive in the family home, with some of them shackled to the beds even. This story made worldwide headlines; the parents will spend the rest of their lives in jail; and the children will never be normal - how could they be? Abuse comes in many sizes and shapes. There is no fine line here - the lines are indeed blurry. What constitutes abuse?...is always the elephant in the room. Should you report unusual circumstances when you see them? Does this fall under the premise of see something - say something? Then again...what about the families that are tormented from falsified claims? The protests in Iran began because of the high prices of food and other necessities, but as protests grew anger was directed toward President Rouhani and his government's inability to revive Iran's struggling economy, create jobs, and combat alleged corruption. The Iranian Deal that the Obama Administration approved awarded Iran with $100 billion for their economy; but instead this money was used to fund terrorism around the world, not help the struggling Iranian economy. These “glass-half-full” specialists say that the symptoms of depression may actually be evolutionary adaptations. “One way to think about it is the natural problem-solving capacities of depression,” explains J. Anderson Thomson, MD, assistant director of the Center for the Study of Mind and Human Interaction at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. How can you use depression in a positive way? Many Americans believe Fusion centers are an overarching program and method of managing the flow of information and intelligence across levels and sectors of government to integrate information for analysis. Subscribe to the podcast. Ashawnty Davis 10 years old and Rosalie Avila 13 years old are two of the most recent victims of bullying, both girls took their lives. Bullycide is a term being used to describe the severe trauma of bullying. Families left heartbroken and restless, the tragedy is so very real and overwhelming. According to psychological sources, bullying is a specific type of aggression in which (1) the behavior is intended to harm or disturb, (2) the behavior occurs repeatedly over time, and (3) there is an imbalance of power, with a more powerful person or group attacking a less powerful one. Bullyvention — Keaton part 1 In the case of Ashawnty Davis in Colorado, this young girl had the courage to confront her bully, when the fight was videotaped and someone uploaded it to the a social media application called Musical.ly app. She felt shame and devastated after seeing it and she was bullied even more after it was posted, it is when she decided to end her life. In the case of 13-year-old Rosalie Avila. Her bullies relentlessly called the California teen ‘ugly’ and made fun of her braces, said her father Freddie Avila. One bully posted a video on social media of Rosalie sitting by herself at school as she was taunted. Rosalie cut her wrists because of the bullying, and kept a list of people who bullied her in a diary. The numbers are staggering...70.6% of young people say they have seen bullying in their schools. 70.4% of school staff have seen bullying. 62% witnessed bullying two or more times in the last month and 41% witness bullying once a week or more. Food stuffed in his clothes, milk poured on his head, harassed and tormented with slurs, insults and told that he would never amount to a thing. “I had enough of it.
