Par šo vienošanos jāpateicas vidutājam – Pakistānai. Informāciju apstiprinājusi arī Irānas puse, gan apgalvojot, ka Savienotās Valstis piekritušas kopējam Irānas noregulējuma prasību ietvaram, kas neizklausās diez ko ticami. Globālā naftas cena dažu stundu laikā piedzīvoja optimistisku lejupslīdi zem līmeņa simts dolāru par barelu. Kā savā rakstā pauž raidsabiedrības BBC apskatnieks Entonijs Zērkers: „Pagaidām šī ir daļēja Trampa politiska uzvara. Viņš izteica dramatiskus draudus un panāca vēlamo rezultātu. Taču pamiers ir atelpa, nevis pastāvīgs risinājums. Prezidenta vārdu un rīcības, kā arī kara kopējās ilgtermiņa sekas vēl nav pilnībā novērtētas.” Vai Stoltenbergs mūs nodeva? Pagājušā gada nogalē nāca klajā agrākā NATO ģenerālsekretāra, pašreiz – Norvēģijas finanšu ministra Jensa Stoltenberga memuāru grāmata, kuras nosaukumu varētu latviskot kā „Manā sardzes maiņā: vadot NATO kara laikā”. Cita starpā autors apraksta savu komunikāciju ar Krievijas ārlietu ministru Sergeju Lavrovu 2021. gada rudenī – laikā, kad Krievijas spēku koncertēšanās Ukrainas robežas tuvumā kļuva uzkrītoša un arvien izteiktāk „oda” pēc agresijas eskalācijas. Turpinājumā citāts: „Es pieminēju mūsu bažas par tik lielu Krievijas spēku koncentrēšanu pierobežas reģionos. Lavrovs atbildēja aizkaitināti. „Tā ir normāla militāra darbība,” viņš teica. „Jūs pārspīlējat, jūs esat histēriski. Jums vispār nevajadzētu bāzt degunu tajā, kas notiek Krievijas teritorijā.” Es izteicos par labu jaunām NATO un Krievijas padomes sanāksmēm, kurās varētu apspriest, cita starpā, ierosinātās buferzonas. Es zināju, ka tādas dalībvalstis kā Polija un Baltijas valstis stingri iebilst pret šādu zonu izveidi, jo uzskata, ka tas padarītu grūtāku viņu teritoriju aizstāvēšanu. Bet tajā pašā laikā es zināju, ka NATO un Krievija agrāk bija vienojušās par ģeogrāfiskiem ierobežojumiem militārai darbībai. Ja to visu līdzsvarotu un pārstrādātu, tas varētu palīdzēt mazināt spriedzi. Bet Lavrovs nebija ieinteresēts. Viņš zināja, ka tādā padomē darbakārtības pirmais punkts būs Ukraina, un viņam bija līdz nelabumam apnicis klausīties, kā mēs norādām uz Krievijas starptautisko tiesību pārkāpumiem Ukrainā. „Lieka laika šķiešana,” viņš paziņoja.” Minētais apraksts neguva ievērību starp grāmatas recenzentiem līdz šī gada 29. martam, kad savu vērtējumu par Stoltenberga memuāriem laida klajā Igaunijas resursa The Baltic Sentinel galvenais redaktors Mēliss Oidsalu. „Jenss Stoltenbergs 2021. gadā nodeva Baltijas valstis un šķietami par to nemaz neuztraucas,” sensacionāli deklarē virsraksts, apakšvirsrakstam turpinot: „Jensa Stoltenberga memuāri atklāj, ka ģenerālsekretārs bija gatavs apspriest Eiropas drošības kārtību, apejot tos sabiedrotos, kuri ir visvairāk pakļauti Krievijas draudiem.” Arī recenzijas tonis kopumā ir bijušajam ģenerālsekretāram neglaimojošs, kritizējot viņa tieksmi uz kompromisu, kā vietā, autoraprāt, bija jābūt izlēmībai un gatavībai konfrontēt ar agresorvalsti.
