In Podcast #035 we welcome Daryn Colledge to the studio. Daryn was an All-WAC offensive tackle at Boise State University in the early 2000's before being drafted in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. His NFL career spanned 9 years and included a super bowl win in 2010. After retiring from professional football, Daryn made the decision to join the Idaho Army National Guard where he deployed to Afghanistan. Listen in as he describes his life in the NFL, what brought him back to Idaho, why he decided to serve in the military, and how he plans to live a life of continued service.

Along with his co-founder, Josh Kleghorn, Butch relied on his military background to start the company. Kryptek is proudly based in Eagle, Idaho, where Butch was born and raised. In Podcast #033, we welcome Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) Idaho Regional Director, Jenn Skeesick, to learn more about CAF and how Mission43 members are finding purpose after the military by volunteering with CAF. Jenn has practiced as a sports and orthopedic physical therapist for over 13 years, and has a doctorate degree from Duke University. Her undergraduate degree is in Animal Science from Auburn University where she served as the co-captain of the Equestrian team. Jenn is also a Mission43 Leaders Fellow and a military spouse, as her husband, Anthony, serves with the Idaho Air National Guard. Lastly, Jenn is also an adjunct professor at Boise State and Duke with the hopes of helping guide adult learners as they discover passions and possibilities. Listen to Jenn's inspiring story as she shares some great stories and talks about the new headquarters from Mission43 and CAF-Idaho (The Idaho Outdoor Field House).
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the terror attacks that transpired on that day. Bryan and Dan also discuss the resulting surge of volunteer military forces, as warfighters from across the United States began to fight the Global War on Terror (GWOT), a war that would last two decades and continues today. In this episode from Summer 2019, Brian and Bryan sit down with Navy veteran and blind adaptive athlete Scott Leason. Scott shares his journey from honorably serving for 7 years in the U.S. Navy to being shot in the head and losing his sight while working at a convenience store.Scott faced many challenges adapting to the loss of his sight, but eventually found the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s Operation Rebound. In 2008, he received CAF Operation Rebound support for his waterski training and has since competed in multiple IRONMAN races and was the sole visually impaired athlete on Team USA at the ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship.Oh yeah, he became an adaptive athlete in his 50s. Carlos talks openly about leaving Brazil at age 18 with $300 in his pocket, joining the US Navy, learning to swim, and being shot in Panama during military operations to capture Manuel Noriega. Since his injury, Carlos has become a world-renowned athlete. He won the 367-mile Sadlers Ultra Challenge handcycle race in Alaska, is a two-time National Handcycling Champion, and a four-time Hawaii Ironman Champion.
