Own Your Joy is hosted by two working moms from Kentucky, Kayla and Jessica. They are here to uplift, inspire, and challenge you to Own Your Joy. Each week we bring stories from our lives, lessons we have learned, and the best of the best advice we’ve got
The Own Your Joy podcast, hosted by Kayla and Jessica, is a breath of fresh air in the world of self-improvement podcasts. From the moment I started listening, I felt an immediate connection to their lighthearted and down-to-earth approach. It's like having a conversation with two close friends who truly understand what it means to navigate through life's ups and downs.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the gentle reminder they consistently give listeners to give themselves grace. No matter what stage of life you're in, they emphasize that you are doing the best you can. This kind and compassionate message is something we all need to hear more often, especially when we may be too hard on ourselves. By sharing their own experiences and struggles, Kayla and Jessica create a safe space for listeners to feel understood and supported.
Another standout feature of this podcast is how real and raw both hosts are. They don't shy away from discussing difficult topics or sharing personal stories. This authenticity is refreshing and makes each episode feel genuine and relatable. It's inspiring to hear them open up about their own journeys towards finding joy and embracing self-improvement.
On the flip side, one possible drawback of this podcast is that it's still relatively new, with only a couple of episodes released at the time of writing this review. While I have no doubt that Kayla and Jessica will continue delivering valuable content, some listeners may prefer podcasts with more extensive archives to binge-listen to or reference back to.
In conclusion, The Own Your Joy podcast has far exceeded my expectations in just a few episodes. Kayla and Jessica have created a show that not only provides useful information for personal growth but also speaks directly to your heart. Their realness combined with their positive outlook make this podcast a must-listen for anyone seeking inspiration, encouragement, and practical advice on how to embrace joy in their lives. So do yourself a favor and hit that subscribe button - you won't regret it!

On this episode we talk with one of our favorite girls, Hannah Blandford, about lessons learned. As always, these episodes are not planned or scripted and we never know what will come up. We each came to the table with several lessons but the episode went where it wanted and we found ourselves 40 minutes in and lots of lessons left to share. Part two in the future? We hope you enjoy this episode and take something from it. You can follow along with Hannah on Instagram here @faithfoundme22Thanks for being here! If you don't already, give us a follow on social media! @ownyourjoypodcast
Well ... we planned this episode but didn't see it coming. Does that even make sense? We dig into a few of Jessica Boarman's Growth Deck (journal prompt cards) and holy cow did it deliver. The quotes and the questions asked flowed so beautifully ... Our hope is that you answer the questions for yourself and take the time for some self-reflection. Remember, we love you and we are so glad you're here!Episode Resources:Jessica Boarman (aka - Journals by Jess). You can get the deck we used here. She also offers a Confidence deck and a Bloom deck among other things! See all of that here! Don't forget to catch her on Instagram @jessica.boarmanCleerely Stated. This is the Instagram account that my friend shared and I quoted at the end of the episode. I'm sure most of you already follow them - it's all just so good. @cleerelystatedThanks for being here! Holy cow it feels good to be back! Can you believe it's been 5 whole months? What on earth?? This just goes to show you that if you don't act on your dreams, the time will pass you by and you won't have gotten any closer to where you want to be. In this episode we just sort of get back to it -- we catch up and prepare for an exciting season ahead. Show References: 1. Jenna Klopfenstein - Next Level You host - @jenna.klopfenstein2. Does Christmas start in November for you or December? If there is anything we know, it's that it's a polarizing topic and everyone has an opinion. ...and that's the thing! Opinions. If it makes them happy, keep your opinion to yourself. Let's chat about supporting others' joys and learning more about them instead of habitually talking about how WE feel about the things that bring them joy.
Hiiiiii!!!!! Do you have a passion? Do you follow it or do you let fear stand in your way? Let us inspire you to push past it and LIVE
When was the last time you looked at the world or a situation through the eyes of a child? I bet it's been a while! What would your problems look like if you did? What joy could you find if you stopped to smell the roses -- if the hurriedness of life didn't get in the way? Today, we break down what it would look like and the things we miss because our lives are so rushed. The challenge for you this week is that you find a way to age backward ... and if you figure that out, let us know! ...but for real, find a situation in which you can approach it through the eyes of a child, and let us know what you find!Remember, we LOVE you and we are so glad you're here!If you don't already, follow us on Instagram @ownyourjoypodcast -- see you there!
Hey, hey, hey!! It's us!!!....and the Lord. We are bringing you an episode near and dear to our hearts. Talking about all things Jesus. You all know we went to Catholic schools growing up and we both have a different view on what faith looked like for us during that time. The best part is, it showed us and taught us who God is and that allowed us to grow into our faith with a different appreciation. We hope you love this topic as much as we do!If you don't already, give us a follow on Instagram! @ownyourjoypodcastRemember, we love you and we are so glad you're here!
When we think of life lessons we think of things that are there to help us along the way. Things we wish we knew earlier in life to make things easier. The problem is, none of life's lessons are easy. ...and nothing good ever comes easy. So, we can sit here and list things out that are to help us all, but unless we put in the work to find where we can apply these in our lives, they are just more words on a piece of paper, lists in a blog, words in a podcast that don't help anyone. Let's use these to really take a look at our lives and see where we can elevate ourselves! If you are interested in donating to Katie Dant (the friend of ours we spoke about who lost her husband tragically and unexpectedly at the age of 34) you can do so by writing a check to Audubon Federal Credit Union, c/o Katie Dant, 1429 Breckenridge Street, Owensboro, KY 42303. Katie is now a widow with 3 children to care for. Any little bit helps -- even prayer! ...mostly prayer!! We thank you in advance for any help you can offer her!
What do your days feel like? Are they packed full of things you feel like you're struggling to accomplish? Do you feel out of breath, tense in your shoulders, or like you can't keep you head above water? ...why do I feel like I've slipped into an infomercial?

Hi, guys! Are you someone who thrives on human connection (Kayla) or someone who is a little more introverted (Jessica)? Whichever one you are, did you know that human connection was once a primal need for us to survive. Really, it's true. In the caveman days, people had to connect with others or they would literally die. Maybe that's dramatic -- but times were hard back then and honestly, safety in numbers. All this to say, human connection is one of our basic needs of survival to this day. Without it, we are depressed, we experience higher anxiety, and the list goes on. Give this a listen and then connect with us!! But hey -- started from the closet now we here, amirite? Thank you so much for listening and loving us. We thank you, we see you, we love you!!

Last week we talked about what is saving your life -- this week, it's the same concept; but a different topic! What do you need to let go of? We were both brought up Catholic and went to Catholic schools. With Lent upon us -- this topic seems only fitting. Much like the full moon, Lent gives us an opportunity for introspect and self reflection. It forces us to slow down and take stock of our lives -- what is serving us and what isn't. So we ask you, what do you need to let go of?
I heard this question on Jen Hatmaker's podcast (#goals) and thought what a great question! So, we talked about it. The small things, the big things, and everything in between. So let us ask you, what's saving your life right now? If we had to guess, it's probably a lot of things -- from your morning coffee to your glass of wine with dinner; from your alone time to the times you're surrounded by friends and family. The point is, we all need different things at different times. So, what's saving your life right now?
I am pretty.I am loving. I am generous.I am peaceful.I am faithful.I am a woman of action. Silence. Do you like it or do you hate it? It's a very polarizing topic, we've come to find. So much can be found in the silence. This episode is more about noise than silence. There is so much noise all around us all. the. time. Social media, friends, family, jobs, etc. In this episode, we talk about tools to help you tune out the noise that doesn't matter. Transitions are guaranteed. Transitions are a part of life. In fact, there is a book that is called "The Life is in the Transitions" and it's by Bruce Feiler; and how true is that?!. Transitions are what make our lives what they are in the end. We don't get where we are going by staying the same. Now, it's what you do with your transitions that determine where you end up. You can be in control of your transitions by being aware of when they are happening, knowing what your goals are, and making small choices throughout the transition to navigate yourself to the place you want to end.If you aren't following us on social media, then wyd? We posted a question and answer on our social media and we decided to answer a couple of those. 1 - How do we find the time to do it all? 2 - How to be more confident. Here is the secret -- you have to go through hard things, you have to struggle, you have to feel unconfident to feel more confident. Yes, I know. Sounds crazy. But tell me this, when was the last time you struggled and felt not good enough to conquer something? ...and then you conquer it. How. Good. Did you feel afterward? Cloud 9 I bet! Anyway, I can't give it all away here. Give 'er a listen. We are so glad you're here!!Also -- Did you hear about our live recording? You can purchase tickets, here!

Let's play a mind game, play a mind game.... Gaga anyone? Yes, we are talking about mindset again. But y'all. There is so much that can be said about the mind and how you can use it. Deeper dives this time. Things you can use to make the most of your mindset. Use it FOR you, not against you.
Admit it, you sang that title. I have been singing it all day ever since we decided to title this episode All the Small Things. Guys -- there are SO MANY TINY THINGS in your life that are stealing your joy. Everywhere. All day. Take a moment to recognize a shift in your mood and analyze where that is coming from. Odds are, you can change it! Let us know what is stealing your joy and what you have done to change it!
Last week we talked about where you are now, but what's next? Honey, that's how to get where you're going! Let me ask you, when was the last time you did something for the first time and you were an expert on the first try? Let me guess, never. Also an analogy so good it deserves print and vocal -- Excuses are like assholes, everyone has one and they're all full of shit. It's true! Also -- we partnered with Bella Ragazza Boutique!!! Yes, that's right! We are now partnering with Bella to bring you 20% off your purchase with code Joy (one time code) in store or online at www.bellababe.com.

Are you just flying under the radar or are you pushing for more? If the answer to any of those questions are the first option given, then this episode is for you. Push play and turn up the volume, sister! We are here to show you that you were made for more!
