A Sydney FC fan Podcast committed to bringing you the latest club news, insights and opinions, as well as fan stories along the way
This week began with the much awaited unveiling of our new home and away kits done brilliantly at our new home, Allianz Stadium, by the likes of ballers Pat Yazbek and Charlie Rule. Two self-proclaimed addicts of football kits feature on this week's episode, Adrian a.k.a AusKitNerd and Mariame Choucair, along with our own kit addict Jules who hosts while Sean and Jono are off with a one week calf injury. Do you love this season's kit? Hate it? A bit meh about it? Home or away? Listen in to hear from the 'experts'.
We're out of the cup, one of only eight A-league teams to be eliminated by the hands of an NPL side. Worrying signs or needing more time to gel? Jono, Jules and Sean dissect our loss to Oakleigh, we go around the grounds and discuss our new signings. Sean is tickled pink with the new sound effects for our segments!
We continue our cup run with recent wins over the Mariners and Bentleigh Greens, finding ourselves in the quarters finals. Your prayers have been answered with a couple of astute signings...more to come! We dissect the recent world of SFC going around the grounds, reviewing cup games and debuting our new segment 'Hero & Villain'.
The season start is on the horizon with our A-League 22/23 fixtures released- cracking opening round against the Victory. We also delve into the transfer rumour market, go around the grounds, update on our NPL fellas and preview our first taste of SFC football in a while with the Australia Cup game against the Mariners. Give us your thoughts on who'd be your hero and villain of the week too.
It's been an interesting off season in the land of sky-blue to say the least. We've resisted the temptation of creating our own click bait a-league transfers twitter account and instead we've dusted off the microphones and jumped into the ever increasing snake pit to discuss and dissect the comings, goings and rumours in and around our squad for next season.
It's a been a tough season for sky-blue fans but there's a lot to look forward to for 22/23. A massive episode this week and we mean massive: 12 players depart, Corica re-signs, new contracts and rumours galore! We dissect and discuss it all! We also catch up on how our NPL boys are doing, representative honours and our end of season report card. Michael Zullo, a club legend and fan favourite, joins us for a fascinating and insightful interview.
The ACL is in our rearview mirror (thank goodness!) as we look ahead to the Big Blue and a very intriguing off season...the rumour mill is already providing kindling to what may or may not happen in the coming months leading into next season. Jules and Sean discuss our ACL wash-up and dissect this pulsating rumour mill and twitter gossip about the team. We wax lyrical about our young SFC NPL boys spanking Sydney United for SIX with Jaiden Kurcharski putting on a masterclass. Hope to see you all at the Big Blue- our last home game of the season and our final farewell to Kogarah.
A below par start for our sky-blue men in Vietnam with the start of our ACL campaign. Massive 6 points up for grabs with back to back games against Yokohama F.Marinos and simply we're all eager to inflict more pain on Muscat. The young NPL fellas suffer their first defeat of the season too but put up a good fight nonetheless. Jules, Jono and Sean pod in the flesh at our old stomping grounds of the Bella Vista Hotel. How's the sound quality!?
A very dejected Sky Blue Stories this week. On one hand, in the space of a week our A-League men go from losing 0-4 to winning 5-0 to losing 3-2 at the death in calamitous fashion. On the other hand, our young and triumphant Sky-Blue fellas win their top of the table clash sending them to the top of the NSW NPL table. Jono and Sean dissect our upcoming Asian Champions League campaign in Vietnam and have a lengthy discussion about all things SFC thanks to all of the questions that were sent in.
100 not out. We've hit the milestone of a century of episodes and what better way to celebrate it than with a tremendous derby win over the scum. The NPL sky-blue fellas go from strength to strength or should I say from Wood to Wood with a win keeping them undefeated this season. Of course, all the usual around the grounds, reviews and previews. Thank you to all who have supported us along the way. It's greatly appreciated! XO
Heartbroken. Devastated. Inconsolable. Just some of the words to sum up how we're feeling from Sunday's women's grand final loss. Football is a cruel beast. Nonetheless, it was still a successful season with a lot to be proud of and smile back on. The men tasted defeat against a very depleted Jets team but the young sky-blue fellas remain undefeated! A tonne of around the grounds with Remy headed overseas, national team call-ups and our remaining men's fixtures including all the usual previews and reviews.
A brilliant win over Western United makes us go back-to-back. We love three points and a clean sheet, not to mention Amini and Luciano bag their first goals for the club. We wax lyrical about Talbot's recent form too. A big grand-final preview for our sky-blue girls ahead of Sunday's blockbuster, big blue game against Victory. All the usual previews, review and around the grounds. If you can, please donate to Ninko's support of families in Ukraine https://ukraine.unicef.org.au/milos.
A victorious Sky-blue week all round with the men winning in Perth, the young NPL boys going two from two with a win over Marconi and we've just got our breaths back from the pulsating semi-final win over City by our sky-blue women! The midfield maestro, Patrick Yazbek, joined us for a terrific chat about his brilliant form and season so far as well as us discussing all the around the grounds, reviews and previews.
Apologies for the alliteration. A very disappointing derby loss at the hands of our cross-town rivals, however our sky-blue girls...they came, they saw, they conquered! Congratulations all involved (players, coaches, staff) for our girls winning the A-League Women's Premier's Plate. We are so incredibly proud of you. Jono's calf is playing up again so Jules and Sean tackle all things SFC: the Sydney Cup, Corica, and all the reviews and previews.
Our sky-blue girls have one hand on the premier's plate but our men suffer defeat at the hands of Western United and City. The boys give their best teacher impersonation, with our A-League sky-blue mens A to F mid season report card grading. And come to think of it we should have done it for the girls too...but let's face it, they'd all get A++ anyways. Plus, all the usual around the grounds, review and previews to sit back and enjoy.
An undesired result at the hands of City leave the girls looking over their shoulder with the run towards the Premier's Plate. Bobo, on the other hand, continues his potent ways in front of goal resulting in some cries for him to start future games. Jules is out with a one week calf but rest assured Sean and Jono take the reins waxing lyrical about the Burgess (love you Max) Amini midfield partnership, what's been doing around the grounds, reviews and previews.
The boys have dried themselves out after a soggy night at Kogarah witnessing a solid 1-1 draw with Western United. The girls continue their winning and clean sheet ways with a gritty 1-0 win over the Jets. From what came out of left field, we discuss the signing of Dutchman Luciano Narsingh and its implications for our team this season. And, we continue the Dutch theme with an interview with Sydney FC legend and crowd favourite, Pascal Bosschaart.
He came, he saw, he conquered...Tommy Heward-Belle ohhh emm gee! What a performance. A pulsating and drama-filled game saw our sky-blue men take all three points in Adelaide as Redders gets his first yellow card in over 220 hours albeit from the bench of all places. Our girls continue on with another win and clean sheet setting records in their wake. All of that and more including previews, reviews and a letter of apology to Elvis Kamsoba.
Our sky-blue men showed incredible resilience to fight back not once, but twice this week to walk away with four points out of six. Great performances and very pleasing results put a smile on all three of our faces. We say so long, farewell and best wishes to Joel King with his move to Denmark, wax lyrical about Caceres and of course cover all the news, reviews and previews.
A very depressing pod this week with two losses for the men. O'Neill was back to haunt his old club as we went down to Daniel Sturridge's Perth Glory. On a much better note, our SFC women punish City with a resounding win and another clean sheet. All the usual stuff to tune into with reviews, previews and around the grounds. C'mon you boys in blue, let's get a result over the Vic.
A double header midnight plum Saturday saw the girls absolutely slaughter Canberra United but the men had to rely on some Elvis magic and a Caceres neat finish to get over the line against the Roar. A massive congratulations to Teresa Polias on the birth of her daughter, Athena and we start to delve into some ACL news. Plus the usual review and previews, but in saying that who really knows when we're playing next under this current climate.
Despite no football on the men's front there's still plenty to talk about especially as our girls go from strength to strength with another flawless victory over the Glory. We have players called up to the national team, reviews and previews and apparently Arsenal's Aubameyang in negotiation.
Woody Wood and the sky-blue funky bunch had the right stuff with their tremendous win over the Bulls. To quote Jules "I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way". The sky-blue girls go from leaving their shooting boots at home against WSW to knocking in a plethora of goals against the Nix. We discuss our new signing of Mustafa Amini and how he will fit into the line-up amongst our other around the ground topics, review and previews. Here's to a terrific 2022 :)
We were honoured to be joined by the one and only and hilarious Ryan McGowan a.k.a Gowser. He filled us in on his time in Kuwait, his successful time at Sydney and who of his former Sky-blue team mates goes commando. Also, Jono and Sean review the 6 point weekend that was...girls continue to be on fire and the guys chalked up their first win of the season.
A resounding win by our Sky-blue women over their western Sydney rivals with what may be ALW goal of the season by Remy (I'm calling it now!). However, our Sky-blue men headed back down the highway with their tails between their legs. Jules, Jono and Sean discuss the SFC week that was and review and preview our games. We had a terrific chat with excitement machine Cortnee Vine who's playing out of her skin at the moment and is an all-round wonderful human.
5 points for our club championship: Girls' front three firing while the boys rue their chances and VAR spoils the party. Jules and Sean dissect the week that was reviewing the SFC ALM and ALW games and then looking ahead to a busy week with FFA cup, girls against their bitter WSW rivals as the men take a trip up to the coast against the Mariners.
A disappointing and lacklustre loss against our south-west Sydney rivals sets the tone for this episode. Though, we see the new dawn of the A-League Women's competition with round 1 this weekend as our sky-blue gals take on the Jets with new captain Nat Tobin. Can we get to 6 points from this Saturday's double header!? Listen in as we dissect this past week on and off the pitch and have a chat with a SFC fan boy and Foxsports producer.

Our boys in sky-blue take to the field this weekend against the scum of WSW in our first game of the 21/22 season. Listen in for your chance to win a custom made SFC Subbeteo table football. We're over the moon to have football back.
Strap yourself in as the football season is upon us. Tantalisingly close. Full list of A-League Men's and Women's fixtures are out to froth over, some football was kicked and the Sky-blue men even got some minutes into their legs. We have another special guest to give their insights into our season ahead too!
We're backkkkk...a few weeks hiatus but we get stuck right back into around the grounds and some mini previews and reviews of some actual bonafide SFC football. Listen in too for our special football correspondent giving their thoughts about how we'll shape up for the season less than a month away!
The season is on the horizon with the initial rounds of the A-LeagueS released. Jono and Sean break down these fixtures as well as diving into the massive APL announcement, SFC Stats very niche content and Redders' FIFA rating. Give it a listen as we're only 40 odd days away from the start of the season.
Ohhhh Emmmm Geeee! The 21/22 Sydney FC kits have been unveiled much to the delight of us and the supporters of this great club. Slick, fresh, sophisticated new jerseys and especially a very sexy third violet plum alternate kit (drool!). Jono and Sean dissect it all with the King and Queen of Sydney FC kits a.k.a Mariame and Julian. We also chat around the grounds, some APL news and the final couple of pieces to our W-League squad. Enjoy.
SBS back again for another week of pre-season sky blue goodness with all the news and even more W-League signings for our girls in blue. Former SFC midfield maestro, Alexander Baumjohann, joined us for an exciting and insightful interview! If you want to know where to next for ABJ you have to tune in to this week's episode ;)
Despite no glitz and glamour of an end of year awards we came (online), we waited, we predicted and did fairly well with who got which award. Well done to all the award winners and Gowser on his 5th place nomination. Excitingly, we dissect the new signing and re-signings of the W-League squad which is shaping up very nicely. AND, we welcome a new sponsor :)
Never a dull moment in the life and times of Sydney FC. Sure there isn't any football yet but there is still plenty to discuss and dissect: new W-League captain, FFA cup draw opponents, SFCU player of the season and of course the juiciness of player departures, re-signings and new signings. What were your impressions of SFC's player signings for next season? Tune in to hear Jono and Sean's thoughts on who is donning the sky blue jersey next season.
