Dr John Malios is an experienced general practitioner and medico-legal examiner, retiring after a 50-year career in general practice. He founded the Oakleigh and District Health Centre (now The General Practitioner) in 1972 and went on to serve as Convenor of Medical Panels Victoria (2012–2017) and Deputy Convenor (2007–2012). He continues to contribute as a Presiding Member on Medical Panel Tribunals and has extensive expertise in medico-legal impairment assessment under the AMA Guides for WorkSafe and Wrongs Act claims. Dr Malios also delivers training for the Personal Injury Education Foundation (PIEF). Currently, he is an occupational health consultant in private industry, Medical Advisor and committee member of Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Australia, a member of the consumer advocacy group for Primary Aldosteronism, and an Associate Investigator with the Hudson Institute's Primary Aldosteronism Centre of Excellence (PACE). Dr Malios is a Life Member of the AMA and RACGP, and a member of the Australian College of Legal Medicine.

The Westall Flying Saucer incident represents one of the best, perhaps the best, of the category of UFO sightings described as daylight, mass-witness, school-based sightings, and landings. And it all happened in Westall, in what was then the City of Oakleigh, which is now the City of Kingston. The Westall Flying Saucer incident, occurring on April 6, 1966, in what is now the City of Kingston, Melbourne, remains one of the most notable UFO sightings. During a Physical Education class, students and teachers observed a silver/white metallic object resembling an upside-down bowl flying low over the school's playing field. It caused panic among the students. Another group of students witnessed one or possibly two similar objects in the sky. Despite the presence of five small planes that attempted to approach the craft, it exhibited remarkable agility, flitting away whenever they neared. Eventually, the saucer disappeared behind a copse of pine trees. Roughly 300 students congregated on the field, with some venturing towards the site where the saucer seemed to have landed. Witnesses include former students, teachers, and locals, but the full story remains mysterious, awaiting further disclosure from those involved. The New South Wales Premier Chris Minns yesterday announced that the busy and popular public golf course at Moore Park will be carved up to create more free-form parkland, at the expense of golf holes. It seems like golf is paying the price on the back end of unfettered urban development on the edge of Centennial Park and Moore Park.  As the population of Zetland and surrounding streets rises, the absence of sufficient green space allowance within that development footprint is becoming more obvious. High density residential development during the tenure of Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore and previous NSW premier Bob Carr now sees current day politicians reach into the golf course to ameliorate the absence of green space allowance within the suburban development footprint.
