A vida é breve, como um sopro, e não basta buscar apenas uma versão melhor de nós mesmos, pois a verdadeira plenitude está em viver na presença de Deus, conforme fomos chamados desde o princípio. Fomos escolhidos em Cristo para estar diante dEle, em comunhão com Ele, sendo formados segundo a Sua vontade e não segundo os padrões deste século. Em um mundo cercado por influências, conteúdos e distrações constantes, ninguém permanece neutro. Sempre estamos sendo moldados por algo ou por alguém. Se não estivermos sendo formados intencionalmente por Jesus, inevitavelmente seremos formados por outras vozes que nos afastam do coração de Deus. Por isso, seguir a Cristo exige apego firme à verdade, renovação da mente e uma decisão consciente de reorganizar a vida ao redor dEle. O chamado de Jesus é extraordinário porque não está restrito aos mais preparados, aos mais fortes ou aos mais capazes. Seu convite alcança todos. Antes mesmo de alguém crer, Jesus já vê potencial de transformação. Segui-Lo significa assumir a posição de aprendiz, caminhar perto dEle, aprender Seu coração, tornar-se semelhante a Ele e viver como Ele viveu. Quando fazemos de Cristo nossa habitação, o fruto do Espírito cresce naturalmente em nós, e pouco a pouco nos tornamos mais parecidos com Ele. A maturidade espiritual não se mede pelo quanto se sabe, mas pelo quanto se ama. Para isso, é necessário desacelerar. A pressa tem roubado a intimidade com Deus, fragmentado a mente e enfraquecido a comunhão. O caminho de Jesus nos chama a um ritmo diferente: simplicidade, descanso, solitude, oração e atenção à presença de Deus ao longo do dia. Não se trata de fazer mais, mas de abrir espaço para aquilo que realmente importa. A alma precisa desse descanso santo, dessa pausa intencional, desse tempo em que voltamos o coração ao Senhor e permitimos que Ele alinhe nossos pensamentos, cure nossos afetos e renove nossas forças. No fim de tudo, a grande recompensa de seguir a Jesus não é aquilo que Ele pode dar, mas Ele mesmo. A maior riqueza é conhecê-Lo mais de perto, ouvir Sua voz com mais clareza e viver como habitação da Sua presença. É nessa comunhão que encontramos paz, alegria, direção e vida abundante. Seguir Jesus é possível, mas não acontece por acaso; é fruto de uma vida que escolhe permanecer nEle, dia após dia, até que Sua vida seja vista em nós. Famed Chef Jonathan Waxman came to Wine Talks through a mutual friend who we lost last year to cancer; Melvin Masters was a one-of-a-kind character in the wine trade and Jonathans partner in the famed Jams Restaruarant.    On a recent trip to Nashville, Tennessee, I insisted that the group I was with follow me to Roberts Western (most probably the last true country bar in Nashville), for a fried bologna sandwich. They looked at me crosseyed and followed blindly. You see, we had just finished dinner and everyone had overeaten and were tired. But I knew if I didn't go the first night we were there, I wouldn't make it.  Pray tell, why would one do that?
