Well we called it. Scottie monstered the field in The Open Championship.Okay, we didn't call it, in fact our Betr multi was a bust on every leg....we will make formal apologies at some point on today's podcast, you deserve nothing less.But.....Scottie was magnificent, and controlled the tournament, certainly over the weekend, and we start today with Nick and Mark discussing some of the most impressive parts of Scottie's performance: his putting, his recovery from poor shots, his composure. Exceptional. Nick says the player interviews post the tournament and prior to the final day reminded him of when he was playing and Tiger dominated, in that everyone felt that they were playing for second place, Scottie was that good. Then Mark makes a big call on Scottie and how many tournaments he will win, Mark doesn't believe he will win over 10 majors in his career, as he feels that his footwork will limit him at some point. Nick disagrees, and says Scottie has plenty of years left and will get to double figures.Nick talks about playing with Harris English who he said was exceptional then, and now, and highlights what the weakness in Harris' game was when he played with him. Mark raises the Ryder Cup and says that surely Chris Gotterup is a certainty to be picked now, Nick says no.We discuss the Aussies. A poor tournament overall, with Marc Leishman the only one to make the cut, ultimately finishing T52. Mark raises Cam Smith, and his consistent poor performances in the majors, and says that whilst LIV has been great for Bryson's game for example, it has not been good for Cams, and he just has to start hitting fairways. Nick comments that Brysons performance at the weekend was very strong after a terrible first day, and Mark predicts that we will see Rahm have a 'cracking' 2026 season and explains why. Both Nick and Mark loved how Royal Portrush looked, Mark is desperate to play it. Nick loved the drone shots. And we discuss how on the hardest hole on the course, Scottie birdied Calamity 3 days of the 4....Mark would like a plaque to be placed there to commemorate it.Then we apologise for our Betr multi, although Nick notes one leg would have come off were it not for Shane Lowry's 2-shot penalty, Mark wasn't aware of it, so we play the audio and discuss. But one person does win, wolfpacker Narelle Brunotte was drawn as our winner - she had a punt on our Betr multi and whilst the multi was a dismal failure, Narelle has won 250 bucks to spend at the Golf Clearance Outlet...congrats Narelle!Mark lists his Top 5 courses in Ireland that he'd like to play, has he missed any obvious ones?As you'd expect, the PING global results today have a big focus on The Open Championship, although we do digress for a moment with a video that contained an unusual sound.....we play the audio, and if you're watching on YouTube you will see the Shepmates take on it....very funny. During PING globals, Nick tells a great story that has come out of an Australasian Q-School in the US at the weekend.Feedback - lots of comments on last weeks Top 100 World Golf Course List with Jasper from the Top100 organisation, and plenty of comments - some in support, and some not - on LIV seeking OWGR points.Nick's masterclass today is inspired by Scottie Scheffler and looks at why aiming for the middle of the green is more effective than aiming for the pin.A fun pod today, and a feedback one to come later this week which we're looking forward to!We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best. Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the life and role of one of the most significant figures in early 20th Century German history. Paul von Hindenburg (1847-1934) had been famous since 1914 as the victorious commander at the Battle of Tannenberg against Russian invaders, soon burnishing this fame on the Western Front and Hindenburg was to claim he would have won there too, if enemies at home had not 'stabbed Germany in the back'. He won Germany's Presidential election twice during the Weimar Republic, as a candidate of national unity and, while he gained his second term as a ‘stop Hitler' candidate, President Hindenburg was to appoint Hitler as Chancellor and transfer some of his charisma onto him – a move so disastrous that Germans were later to ask if the myth of Hindenburg had always been an illusion. On May 20, 2025, the Cincinnati Reds fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates in a tightly contested 1-0 game at PNC Park, snapping their five-game winning streak. The loss, detailed across sources like ESPN and Redleg Nation, highlighted the Reds' struggle to capitalize on opportunities against a Pirates team desperate to end a four-game skid. Despite a strong pitching performance from Cincinnati's Nick Martinez, Pittsburgh's Bailey Falter stole the show, delivering seven scoreless innings with five strikeouts, allowing only four hits. The Pirates' lone run came in the second inning, sparked by Oneil Cruz's speed and a clutch hit, enough to secure the victory in a game that lasted just 2 hours and 22 minutes. The Reds, sitting at 25-24 and third in the NL Central, had been riding high after sweeping the Cleveland Guardians and defeating the Pirates 7-1 the previous night. However, their offense, ranked 12th in on-base percentage (.321) and 13th in slugging (.397), went silent. Key players like Elly De La Cruz and TJ Friedl, who hit a triple, couldn't convert opportunities, with the team leaving runners stranded. Fans on platforms like Redleg Nation expressed frustration, noting the Reds' inability to overcome Falter's command and Pittsburgh's opportunistic play. Comments like “Can't be a good team and get shut out 25 times” reflected the disappointment in a game where Cincinnati's bats failed to ignite. Martinez, despite the loss, was solid, continuing his recent form with a 2.05 ERA over his last five starts. He kept the Pirates' offense, the league's worst in runs scored (142) and slugging (.320), in check, but the early run proved decisive. Pittsburgh, at 15-33, capitalized on their home field, with Cruz's two steals and two walks setting the tone. The game underscored the Reds' inconsistency against weaker teams, as they had dominated Pittsburgh in four prior 2025 matchups, outscoring them 21-6. This loss, witnessed by 10,071 fans, exposed Cincinnati's vulnerability in low-scoring affairs, despite their 19-5 record when scoring first. As the Reds prepared for the series finale, the focus shifted to rebounding offensively and leveraging their pitching depth, with Hunter Greene's return looming. For a team aiming to climb the NL Central, overcoming such setbacks against struggling opponents like the Pirates is critical to sustaining momentum.

Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner talk MLB betting for Tuesday. The guys also give out best bets. The "MLB Tuesday Preview + Best Bets" episode hosted by Munaf Manji with guest Griffin Warner offers a detailed, game-by-game analysis of the MLB slate. Munaf opens by mentioning the excitement surrounding the weekend's games and Juan Soto's return to the Bronx. Griffin begins with the Orioles' implosion, losing despite a 14-3 hit advantage, leading to their manager's firing. He criticizes their underperforming stars like Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman, failed pitching replacements, and Kyle Gibson's poor debut followed by being designated for assignment. Griffin speculates that Brandon Hyde's dismissal, despite being 2023's Manager of the Year, stems from high preseason expectations. Munaf admits he underestimated how poorly the Orioles were performing. They highlight the Cubs vs. Marlins matchup with Jameson Taillon vs. Ryan Weathers. Taillon is untrustworthy as a favorite, while Weathers has promise but is fresh off the IL. Munaf leans on the Cubs' offense, skeptical of Taillon's price. Next, they analyze Reds vs. Pirates. Despite interest in backing Bailey Falter, Griffin is deterred by Pittsburgh's scoring drought—failing to surpass 3 runs in 23 straight games. Nick Martinez has been consistent, while Falter has struggled historically against the Reds. Both lean toward the under 8.5. In the Rangers vs. Yankees game, they discuss Patrick Corbin's surprising stability—holding teams to three or fewer earned runs in all starts this season—and Will Warren's solid form. Though historically bad, Corbin's early-season stats make him a tempting underdog. Munaf supports backing Corbin, noting his past success in Yankee Stadium. They discuss Twins vs. Guardians next, where both support Minnesota. Chris Paddock has rebounded after early struggles, while Gavin Williams hasn't found a reliable swing-and-miss pitch. The Twins' recent 13-game win streak reinforces their pick. The Cardinals vs. Tigers match sees both siding with St. Louis for value. Although Detroit's Skubal is a top Cy Young contender, the Cardinals have been on a hot streak. Eric Fedde, typically inconsistent, has posted strong recent starts. Phillies vs. Rockies analysis is brief—Philadelphia should dominate, especially with Sensatela's 6.39 ERA and 1–7 record. Munaf and Griffin agree on Phillies run line and team total over. In Mets vs. Red Sox, Walker Buehler's IL return raises concerns, and Clay Holmes lacks long-term reliability. Both expect high scoring and back the Mets team total over. Royals vs. Giants features Birdsong's first start for SF. With Kansas City's weak offense and San Francisco's cold bats, both prefer under 8. Angels vs. A's is expected to be a slugfest. Kyle Hendricks and Gunnar Hoglund both provide fade-worthy profiles. They predict double-digit scoring, with Munaf backing the over as his best bet. In Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers, Yamamoto is solid, but Ryan Nelson's fastball-heavy approach is predictable. Dodgers' depth and Arizona's weak bullpen suggest the Dodgers team total over is viable. They close with a quick mention of Braves vs. Nationals, likely featuring Spencer Strider off the IL. Griffin's best bet is Twins -108, trusting Paddock's resurgence and the team's momentum. Munaf selects the Angels-A's over 10 due to suspect pitching and a hitter-friendly park in West Sacramento. They promote a $10 discount using code BUNT10 at pregame.com for season-long picks and wrap up promising continued coverage through the MLB season. Learn more about your ad choices. Magid fills us in. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the immediate resumption of “basic” humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip on Sunday evening. Israel has blocked the entry of medical, food and fuel supplies into Gaza since the start of March to try to pressure Hamas into freeing Israeli hostages.
