You need to identify which chapter of that story you are entering: The interview process isn't just about them liking you; it's about you "vetting" them. Ask the questions that reveal the true culture: "How does the administration handle parent complaints regarding playing time?" "What is the budget for player development and assistant coaches?" "What does 'success' look like to you three years from now, regardless of the scoreboard?" In the modern landscape, the "correct" coaching job might not be at a traditional school. Consulting & Digital Coaching: If you have spent decades mastering a system, the "correct" move might be coaching other coaches. Platforms that offer "Scalable Mentorship" allow you to impact thousands of players without the 80-hour work week. Club/AAU Director: Transitioning from the sidelines to a "Director of Coaching" role allows you to shape the fundamentals of an entire region rather than just one roster. This week on the podcast, we're looking at private equity and cryptocurrencies as investment options in your 401k - is this a big opportunity or a hard pass?  On August 7, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order titled Democratizing Access to Alternative Assets for 401(k) Investors. This order paves the way for allowing 401(k) plans to include alternative investments like cryptocurrency and private investments in 401(k) plans. Which begs the question: Is this a good idea for investors? Alternatives and private investments have a track record of higher fees, illiquidity, and higher risk for investors. Their complexity could create problems and additional risks for investors if 401(k) plan trustees eventually move to add these investments to their plan offerings.  So let's explore this a little more, because you might see these options popping up in your 401ks in the near future, and it's important to think through the potential benefits and risks so you can make the right decision about how to invest your 401k for your retirement.    Next Monday, I'll be back with a new theme - at this point, the Fed will almost certainly lower interest rates when they meet this week, and by the time you're listening to this episode, perhaps they already have. Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance says he wants to debate Vice President Kamala Harris. Vance set his sights on going head to head with Presidential candidate Kamala Harris saying, “Here's my offer to Kamala Harris. If she'd like to do a debate with me on August 13th, I'll do it.” Vance went on to claim there is some type of uncertainty about who will actually be on the Democratic ticket. Though Trump backed out of a planned Presidential debate on ABC, he has said he will debate Harris on Fox. Jenna Ellis, a former attorney for Trump, took a deal and will cooperate with Arizona prosecutors in connection with her efforts to help overturn the 2020 election. She is among several lawyers facing legal trouble related to their work with Trump. We welcome our friend, former federal prosecutor David Katz.
