He'd been fronting Boston indie rock outfit Vundabar since 2013, and suddenly, he was unable to do the things he'd built his life around. Recovery came, in part, in the form of a custom guitar prototype built by Mike Baranik of Baranik Guitars. Hagen deconstructed and rehabilitated his relationship to the 6-string on that instrument, an experience that led to Vundabar's sixth LP, Surgery and Pleasure, released on March 7.On tour supporting the record, the band appeared at Grimey's in Nashville for a performance on March 11, and PG's Chris Kies caught up with Hagen to hear about his journey and learn what tools the guitarist has brought on the road. As Hagen tells it, his setup is less about expertise and received wisdom, and more about “intuitive baby mode”—going with what feels and sounds good in the moment.Shop Vundabar's Gear:Ernie Ball Slinky Strings - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/qzZAayFender Hot Rod Deville - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/DynQvnJHS Colour Box - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/MmeQkMKeeley Compressor - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/B0drY9Electro-Harmonix 2020 Tuner - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/jeZz95Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/EKxEPQElectro-Harmonix Micro POG - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/LX5qZ0Boss Blues Driver - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/55YAvLWay Huge Swollen Pickle - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/e1gqLjMXR Carbon Copy - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/Qyn3X9Boss DD-7 - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/KjDAaxFull Rig Info: https://www.premierguitar.com/videos/rig-rundown/vundabarSubscribe to PG's Channel: http://bit.ly/SubscribePGYouTubeWin Guitar Gear: https://bit.ly/GiveawaysPGDon't Miss a Rundown: http://bit.ly/RIgRundownENLMerch & Magazines: https://shop.premierguitar.comPG's Facebook: https://facebook.com/premierguitarPG's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/premierguitar/PG's Twitter: https://twitter.com/premierguitarPG's Threads: https://threads.net/@premierguitarPG's TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@premierguitar0:00 - D'Addario XPND Pedalboard0:15 - Vundabar "I Need You" Live at Grimey's1:06 - Chris Kies Intro1:39 - Brandon Hagen's Custom Baranik B44:56 - Fralin P-90s & Baranik Goldfoil Pickups7:51 - Baranik B4 Controls9:15 - Klon Clone in the Guitar?!13:02 - Brandon Hagen's 2009 Japanese Fender Jazzmaster '62 Reissue15:54 - Recording "I Need You" & Surgery and Pleasure Album22:47 - Relearning Guitar After a Broken Arm24:25 - 2009 Japanese Fender Jazzmaster '62 Reissue Sound Demo26:02 - D'Addario XPND Pedalboard & John Bohlinger26:51 - Brandon Hagen's Fender Fender Pro Junior & Blues Junior31:37 - Brandon Hagen's Pedalboard42:48 - Creating Tones for "Greenland"44:39 - Brandon Hagen's Strings & Tunings49:35 - Vundabar Live at Grimey's[Brought to you by D'Addario: https://ddar.io/wykyk-rr & D'Addario XPND: https://ddari.io/xpnd.rr]© Copyright Gearhead Communications LLC, 2025#guitar #rigrundown #guitarist #guitarplayer #guitargear

So today is a very special edition of Stress Therapy. We are going to have a guest on the show. Can you believe it? It's crazy talk, I know.[00:09] But today we have on the founder of the Love Tuner, which is this mindfulness tool that is amazing, affordable, and actually works like it's pretty cool. We're going to learn all about it today with Zigmar Berg.[00:22] So relax and settle in and listen up, because your Stress Therapy Special edition session is about to begin right right now.[00:45] Hey, beautiful people. It's time for some stress therapy, A podcast about how to meditate and get better at stress for people living in the real world. Finally, a place to Park.[00:54] My 25 plus years of experience of working as a psychotherapist in the mental health field. And now your host, me, the stress therapist, Sheri Flake.[01:18] Welcome, Sigmar. Am I saying your name right?[01:21] Sigmar Berg: Absolutely. Sherry. Thank you so much. It's a pleasure being on your podcast and I love your work. So it's very, very important, and not only your knowledge, but just really trying people get them into meditation because that's, as we said, the biggest stress relief.[01:38] Stress Therapist: It is. It's the very best thing for you. I tell everybody it's about as good for you as water man. Figure out how to do it right. And that's why I love this little tool.[01:48] Before we get talking about the Love Tuner, which I've had one for a couple weeks hanging around my neck. You guys are going to love this thing. It's super cool.[01:54] But first, I kind of want to hear your story. Tell us about you. You had this spiritual awakening.[01:59] Tell us about that experience and what brought you to creating the Love Tuner.[02:04] Sigmar Berg: Yeah, it was interesting because I come from a very different industry, so it was never in the mindfulness industry. I always had an open heart, if you want to call it.[02:14] I was not outgoing. I did not talk about my spirituality.[02:19] When I was a teenager, I was always an artist, so I became an architect. But back in the days, I was painting a lot, and my paintings had, like, really deep spiritual messages without me even understanding what I was painting.[02:33] And so I had this connection, but I was not necessarily outspoken. I did go to any retreats or whatnot.[02:42] And then later on when I already read. So I'm originally from Austria, and. And I relocated to the states, like, nearly 20 years ago. And when I arrived here, I started consciously meditating, like, a year into it.[02:55] And I did it, I would say, like, with a big discipline. And this Helped me, you know, like in a foreign country and not. And I love America and everything, but I was still like, you know, like, I just moved here.[03:07] I was working before in New York, back and forth to Europe. But then really living here was also this adjustment of my industry was fashion. So a lot of fake stuff.[03:17] And my grounding became actually my meditation. So my morning whatever, surf or running on the beach and then sitting down and meditating. And I did this with it with a big discipline.[03:27] And when I got introduced to this frequency, 528Hz didn't mean anything to me. I had. I had no understanding about it. And I did this guided meditation was a breath work meditation.[03:41] And I have to say it was the deepest meditation I ever had. And this was just with the frequency in combination with breath work. And this was what literally like hooked me to this frequency.[03:53] And then the rest was. Yeah, a good friend of mine, we teamed up and we develop this tool.[04:02] And this tool is so easy because everything what I experienced in the sound meditation, breathwork meditation, what took 50 minutes, I have it right here.[04:13] And that's the cool thing. So where were you, though?[04:16] Stress Therapist: How did you hear it? What happened?[04:18] Sigmar Berg: So we did it through speakers. So first of all, people need to know that the 520Hz frequency, you need to really make sure that you listen to the correct frequency. Because our musical scale is actually manipulated so we don't hear the pure tone.[04:33] So always be careful when you listen to 520 hertz that you know where you're getting it from.[04:38] It should be the pure tone from some apps. They really have the pure tone. Be careful on YouTube stuff and everywhere where they literally play with the frequency. But what I recognize is in the way I did it was with speakers.[04:54] So we have been like really big speakers and the frequency was running in the background.[04:59] The person that did the meditation helped us with breath work to go in the deeper state of meditation. And this was exactly the combination what it is.[05:10] And I have to say, my love tuning basically became my meditation. Because would we always say that love tuna makes meditation easy? Yes. It does it. Because it's very easy to get into it.[05:23] Because the tone guides you.[05:25] Stress Therapist: It does. It is. I was pretty surprised by that, actually.[05:29] Sigmar Berg: Yeah.[05:30] And so. And this is like. But you can go as deep as you want. You know, it's not like, oh, oh. It's something for beginners to get into meditation. But when you follow this frequency, it opens up so many portals.[05:43] You can go so dee

Shane Westerfield is a versatile and accomplished racer with a rich history in both drag boat and car racing. Along with his father, Steve, he owns Westerfield Motorsports, a shop specializing in supercharged engines, components, and high-performance flat bottom boats. Westerfield's 15-year drag racing career began by helping his father with his Top Alcohol flatbottom and reached a peak in 2017 when he won the NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car World Championship. Westerfield has amassed 14 NHRA national event wins and continues to drive alcohol cars. He spent the last five seasons with Rick Jackson Motorsports and recently began driving Bucky Austin's AA Nostalgia Funny Car where he won their first two events. Despite his success in car racing, Westerfield is most passionate about competing with his Blown Gas flat bottom in the National Jet Boat Association (NJBA) and Columbia Drag Boat Association (CDBA) and working to keep the class healthy and competitive as one of the few remaining "heads-up" drag boat racing classes. He has streamlined class rules and secured sponsors to increase prize money, ensuring its continued growth. In this episode, Westerfield shares the challenges of closing the family's trade show exhibit company due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he explains how the setback led him and his father to pivot to their side project—working on boats and engines. They eventually transitioned to the business full-time, building a reputation for one-off custom work that has made them a go-to destination in the fast-boat community.
