A nice weekend was had by Gators and Seminole fans. Mike and Keith get the ball rolling by talking about the best fantasy football punishments. Skyler talks about Florida's impressive win over Utah and Mike/Keith discuss Florida State's win over LSU. The keys to beating the Commanders are next and the boys wrap up NFL talk with longshots to get to the Super Bowl. Use code DIMES10 to get 10% off your Nerdy Nuts order today!
It's preseason for the Jags and Dimes on Duval! This episode, sponsored by Nerdy Nuts, is either the last or next to last episode before we go back to weekly installments. This episode starts with a debate: cream cheese on bagels, Y or N? The SEC on CBS music will be used for the BIG10 on CBS starting in 2023. How do you feel about that? After those topics we get to the Jaguars. We answer if we were impressed with the starters efforts against the Browns, who needs to step up to save their job, & who has impressed more than you thought. We finish with a local update and send you on your way! Use code DIMES10 at checkout to receive 10% off your Nerdy Nuts purchase.
Dimes on Duval Presented by Nerdy Nuts ~ use Promo Code DIMES10 at checkout to receive 10% off your purchase! ~ Mike and Keith host this NBA filled episode featuring some friends from around the US - Farid El Haddad representing the LA Lakers (11:43), Johnathan Simmons representing the Atlanta Hawks (27:15), and Alma Bean representing the Utah Jazz (44:12). The guys lead off with the Magic and segue into the interviews. The episode wraps up with talk from around the league (1:08:15). Thank you for always being loyal listeners!
We aren't joking with the title. This show covers so much about nothing. Mike talks about the exclusive event that he got to attend with Doug Pederson and Trevor Lawrence. Next up is Celtics vs Warriors...and who wins game 3 (spoiler alert: Keith hit the nail on the head). Keith touches on his expectations for rest of the NHL playoffs and then we get our first Mike's MLB Update since the season began. Local topics include new area codes, the Jumbo Shrimp, and the s*** show that Vystar is going through. Lastly, what is one tv show/movie that is widely popular that you haven't seen that you want to see? Let us know!
The schedules have been released and we have predictions for you! Before the wins and losses are counted, Keith and Mike discuss the Orlando Magic getting the #1 pick in the NBA Draft. Predictions are made for the Finals as well. Mike says "playoff hockey is lit" and the NHL gets some love. Finally, the Jags schedule is dissected. Who picks us to win the most games? The show ends with hot takes about the season, ridiculous over/under scenarios, & a Jumbo Shrimp/Icemen Update.
The NFL Draft review episode is here! First, the guys discuss the NBA Playoffs. Sorry, they are good and we had to! Right after that is the discussion you have been waiting for - the Jaguars Draft. Grades are handed out first for the Draft as a whole, then each pick is discussed. Nothing was held back! The local update teases a new article that will be on dimesonduval.com soon, the IceMen in their "Battle of Florida" playoff series, and the Sharks slow start. Also, Mike reeeeally hates the color orange for some reason.
Skyler gets the ball rollin' with a recap of his trip to Hobe Sound with Justin James for the PLDA Sunshine Smash. We roll right along with our favorite #63s of all time (hint: it's not a great list). Ready for some NBA Playoffs talk? Keith spits some interesting takes on the certain Playoff teams and the guys pick their favorite series thus far. Finally, what you've all been waiting for: Jaguars NFL Draft talk! We touch on the thought of Deebo coming to Jax and then give our picks of who we think the 1st pick will be and who we WANT the 1st pick to be. We cap the shop with a shoutout to the surging Jumbo Shrimp and the Playoff bound IceMen. Link to Final Round for Justin James: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMurVQ8hSSE
The title says it all. Keith shares his contest winning news to start things off (Go Magic!). March Madness review includes St. Peters, Mike's Mad Minute about Coach K, and the announcement of our contest winner. From there we touch on the NBA playoffs and mock the Lakers for not making the playoffs. The show also includes Skyler's review of the Tim Tebow Golf Classic and his predictions for the Masters, Mike's MLB Update (and World Series Prediction!), reasons why you should attend a Jumbo Shrimp game, and a few local attractions you should check out.
March Madness is here...and it truly is the greatest time of the year. The boys attempt to record an episode while multiple games come down to the wire in the middle of it. Skyler gives us a little review of the TPC to start. Then we touch on some college hoops (which we do multiple times throughout the episode) before getting to the main course of the episode: NFL free agency. We give approval/disapproval to each Jaguars FA signing as well as say goodbye to the players that have left. The show ends on a sloppy update of the upcoming San Marco Beer Fest (we were distracted by good basketball).
The show starts off with cookie talk...not good for two guys that should be on diets. The first sports talk is when Mike and Keith give a semi-live reaction to JU losing to Bellarmine in the Atlantic Sun basketball tournament. Keith rips into the system and how flawed it is - Mike agrees. Next up is all Jags; namely Cam Robinson getting tagged and who the Jags should target in Free Agency next week. Finally, the boys discuss all the NFL news that broke today, talk TPC and Coastal's involvement with it, a new March Madness Pool for podcast listeners, and a follow up to our new segment NASCAR 101.
Can you name an athlete that sported the number 59? We couldn't in our intro to episode 59! The Daytona 500 has come and gone and it caused us to create a new segment - NASCAR 101. Learn with Mike the ins and outs of the sport! Following that Skyler and Mike debated what is good and what is bad with NBA All-Star Weekend. The next segment has the crew debating on this mock trade: Amari Cooper to the Jaguars for a 2022 2nd and 5th round pick. Would you take it? The show wraps up with a Local Update and Wrap-Up.
Follow us on Twitter (@dimesonduval) to help us reach 100! Episode 58, even though mostly about Doug Pederson, still starts off on a sour note. The Pro Bowl is broken and needs to be fixed. Mike and Keith discuss that and how other sports handle All-Star weekend much better. The main part of the episode dissects the press conference for new head coach Doug Pederson (not Marrone!) and then briefly touching on his current staff. The NBA, a topic not talked about much around here, is our next topic as the trade deadline has arrived. Also touched on is NBA Crunchtime, the RedZone equivalent for the NBA. Lastly, Keith talks about a few Valentine/Galentine events around Jax. Oh, and Keith hates dogs.
It's the offseason...for the Jags. That means our new schedule is to record every other week. Thanks for tuning in! Mike kicks off the episode with a little breaking news from Dilla...and not the good kind. We break down our thoughts on Byron Leftwich and his potential coaching style. We review the amazing Divisional Round of the playoffs and each game in it...and Keith is at peace with the Packers being bounced. Should we change the OT rules? We vote no. The final segment of the show is Manze's Mad Minute...where Keith sounds off about salty Bulls fans and how pathetic Stacey King sounded on Twitter attacking the Magic. #FireBaalke
It's finally over. Who would have predicted it would end with a win? Episode starts with Mike arguing that Wordle is stupid while Keith defends it (Skyler didn't know what it was). Mike describes his role for the Jags vs Colts game, then we recap the game slightly. The meat & potatoes of the show is us predicting the next Head Coach and whether Baalke will be retained or not. We touch on next year's opponents, while picking games that excite us and guess who the home opener will be. That segues into our NFL Playoff predictions (lots of Chiefs believers!) Wrapping the show is the local update: ECHL All-Star Game and festivities, JU & UNF basketball updates, and the Jacksonville Craft Beer Festival.
It's 2022 and the gang is back! Thank you for letting us spend time with our families and loved ones during the holidays. First things first, New Years Resolutions. We got 'em! Also, we played a game of our own: release any player that you want from the Jags. Who would you choose? We briefly discuss how bad the roster is and if any of us would want Jim Harbaugh as head ball coach. We wrap up with a local update and our guesses for what we think the Washington Football Team will pick as their new nickname. Follow us on social!
Mike is Mad. That is it. (Listen and you'll know why - but you can probably guess why). Also, Keith and Mike debate who had/has the better defense: 2013 FSU or 2021 UGA. Thanks for listening!
We hope that all of our listeners had a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Mike and Keith take the mics tonight as Skyler is away. Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping is the first topic to keep things light before the dark topic of the Jags appears. Another week of negative Jaguars analysis is poured into the mic (mostly by Mike). The Florida State vs Florida "game" is briefly discussed before we give our thoughts on new HC Billy Napier. Lastly, a little JU/UNF basketball and IceMen update seals the episode.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Another week, another poor offensive output for the Jaguars. Another week, another solid performance by the defense! Another week, another bad kicking effort. Welcome to the 2021 Jacksonville Jaguars. Noles squeak one out against the Canes and we discuss the :03 second rule. Gators get the win against Samford, but is "a win a win" after that? Finishing things off is Game Ball OTW and a Local Update.
Jags win! Enjoy the TV call (not the Frangie call) of the better Josh Allen sacking the other Josh Allen. Jaguar discussion includes the good defense, bad offense, and questionable special teams. Do the Jags have a shot at the Colts? After that is the firing of Todd Grantham and that effect on the Gators. Has Dan Mullen lost the locker room? Will he be fired after the season? Can the Noles beat Miami? All of this is wrapped up with Game Ball of the Week and then a local update. Opening/closing video: https://youtu.be/x2QjPfV7yW4
We're gonna tell you right now...we did not remember that this was the 50th episode until AFTER recording. So, stay tuned after the "I love you Trevor Lawrence" ;) Skyler unfortunately is not around to celebrate, so Mike and Keith start right off the bat with the biggest snub of the 75th Anniversary NBA Team - Dwight Howard. Then, Mike's Mad Minute sh*t's on Jason Kelce. A progress report for the Jaguars is given for each position group (bye week vibes, y' know?)Then, Magic basketball (and how bad it is) and a few NBA predictions. Orlando Magic Roster article link: https://www.dimesonduval.com/post/2021-2022-orlando-magic
The Coastal Indoor Golf Studio was full for this episode! No remote members of the pod meant more fun all around, and much deeper takes as well. First, we give you the CFA Tea vs Lemonade results, plus an interesting raffle idea by Skyler (not Mike). Then, Jags. Myles Jack is out. Mike thinks we can't beat Miami no matter who the QB is. Then, we try and find a win on the remaining schedule. The Urban argument is going to be our next poll, please listen to know the full context! Skyler gives his thoughts on Florida vs LSU. Keith brings up NBA and we chat a bit about that. Link to Robin Lopez video: https://bit.ly/3p4LFFO
**Disclaimer** Apologies in advance for Skyler's audio. I (Keith) had trouble with the mixer and his audio periodically comes in very quiet and then gets loud again. Urban Meyer, the lovely coach of the Jaguars (for now), is the focal point of this episode. Does he last until the end of the year? Is Shad Khan insane? Also, should the Gators finally move on from Emory Jones now that their Playoff hopes are gone? Does Florida State have a shot to beat UNC? Plus Game Ball of the Week and the return of "Keys to a Win" for the Jaguars vs Tennessee.
0-3. The title of another depressing episode. Yet, we see some sparks of football ability this past week! Both from the Jaguars and the Seminoles. They aren't on the level of the Gators, but maybe we will see a steal a win in Cincinnati this Thursday. Skyler updates us on the PLDA and Landon Gentry (link to the channel here: https://bit.ly/3m9zCE4) and Keith tells you why you should attend Jazz Fest this week.
Mike and Keith are still sad. The Noles fall to 0-3 and the Jaguars 0-2. We don't forget the Gators and talk a little SEC football before getting into the mess that is the Seminoles of Florida State and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Offense, defense, & special teams get their own mini-segment (Jags only). Skyler brings positivity to the episode in the form of an interview! Landon Gentry (@poundsit) sits down with Sky and discusses the LDPA, the next tournament he is in, and fan favorite Bryson DeChambeau (interview at 29:50). Keith and Mike finish the show with the return of Game Ball of the Week.
The first full weekend of football happened and it did not go all that great. The boys discuss the QB situation in Gainesville. Mike and Keith react to the embarrassing loss in Tallahassee. The boys eat crow and go over what the hell happened week 1 in Houston. Keith wraps up the show with some local news.
Summer is over and the boys are back in the studio! Football, football, and football are the focal points of today's pod. What went right/wrong with the Gators against FAU? Was Mike impressed with FSU vs Notre Dame? What should you focus on week 1 for the Jaguars? All of that plus the annual schedule breakdown with Skyler!
Happy Summer, friends. The boys are hear to bring you basketball, basketball, and more basketball. Can the Bucks win without Giannis (this will be answered before you even listen!)? Would the Clippers/Suns series have a different outcome if Kawhi was healthy? Who should we sponsor since college athletes can now be paid??? So many questions answered this episode. Lastly, we love you Trevor Lawrence.
The boys catch up with each other and then you! The NFL Draft has us obviously excited for Trevor Lawrence...but who else catches our eye? Timmy Tebow of course has to be mentioned as Keith goes off with a take that may be a little different than most people and media are spewing. Keith again gives his thoughts on the Aaron Rodgers situation and the show ends with a Jumbo Shrimp/IceMen update.
Emergency pod for the trade deadline. Listen to Keith's fresh takes on what happen in O-Town while dishing out some of the other trades from around the league.
This. Is. March. We did not do a bracket challenge this year but that does not mean we haven't enjoyed every bit of the tournament thus far! We talk Noles basketball, big surprises, and predict the Saturday and Sunday matchups. Exploring the Jaguars free agency Mike offers up his favorite signee and Keith agrees with his least favorite. Wrapping up with a local update that includes scooters, a new downtown restaurant, and a deal that Keith thinks is out of this world.
Episode 40! We recap a few of the happenings while we've been off air and discuss where the Jaguars would have their Super Bowl parade. Our free agency game has us all pick a player from the PFF top 20 that we want on the Jaguars (https://www.pff.com/nfl/free-agency?season=2021). The segment ends with JJ Watt talk that turns into some HOT takes from Skyler (13:30)! In our NASCAR segment Mike officially picks a driver to root for for the 2021 season. We touch on the TPC and Skyler tells us where to catch the action. Also, be sure to keep your ears out for Mike's pronunciation of Buc-ee's!
It's February and the boys are back in the Coastal Indoor Golf Studios. Super Bowl predictions are laid out as well as other takes around the NFL (including Mike's hot take on the Browns). Speaking of hot, Mike gets hot in the latest Mike's Mad Minute, where he gets upset with national media and...Wingstop? Turning the conversation more positive, EA's new college football game becomes a topic of discussion. Concluding the show we get a local update and Mike makes his prediction for the Daytona 500.
Happy New Year! Mike and Keith start 2021 with an interview with the TU's Nate Monroe (@NateMonroeTU) and talk Lot J. After the interview Mike and Keith dish their thoughts on the Urban hire. We also celebrate a milestone for the pod!
Happy New Year! Trevor Lawrence is all but a Jaguar and we discuss our giddiness about it. The Heisman seemly is up for grabs and we all have different opinions of who the award should/will be given to. John Wolford makes his first NFL start this weekend and a new restaurant chain is coming to Jacksonville - Culver's, featuring butterburgers, cheese curds, and custard!

Next the boys dive into the Jaguars defense, go around the league, and finish with segments – a new one called Frauds and F’reals, and the return of Game Balls.
It's a strictly football episode once again! The guys jump right into it by discussing Sunday's matchup between the Jaguars and the hated Titans (1:00). It's a new week, so game balls are given out! No, this is not the debate episode. We are working hard on that one to make sure it's a really good product! Instead, we have this episode...which is still good I might add. We start with our statements regarding the BLM movement. Followed by the Mike Norvell/FSU debacle (6:00) and Dan Mullen's bold take on the Gators' upcoming season (16:30). Then Mike gives us the inside scoop of what's going on with the NBA returning (23:37) and we close it out with a little local news about movies (33:42). Thanks for listening!
