On the 63rd episode of “Great Dane Nation,” Morten is joined by his former teammate and Atlanta Falcons legend Michael Vick (06:38 – 46:59). But first, he checks in with TommyFreezePops (Tom Carroll) for this week's edition of the “Opening Kick” (01:04 – 05:49). Morten talks about that pesky tie-game-rule that still remains in the NFL after all these years, as we saw the Lions and Steelers end in an ugly 16-16 tie this past weekend in Pittsburgh. We then move to our interview with Michael Vick, where he discusses a wide range of topics: the devastation of going to prison, learning from his unforgivable mistakes, and coming out of it as a better man than he was before (08:10); his first impressions of Morten as a teammate, as the two of them have a 20-year age difference (12:31); why he wishes he had the same work ethic at the beginning of his career with the Falcons as he did at the end of his career with the Eagles (14:23); revolutionizing the game of football as the first truly dominant rushing quarterback in NFL history (17:34); growing up in the projects, moving his family out of the projects, and how his love for fishing helped save his life growing up (19:15); why he chose Virginia Tech over Syracuse, and how Frank Beamer's coaching staff got him to the next level as a football player (25:08); embarking on the most dominant freshman season in college football history (28:53); his emotions surrounding being selected #1 overall in the 2001 NFL Draft (30:33); how his personal goals were always with team goals in mind (32:36); why Morten wishes he would've been more present in Mike's life back in 2006 (34:10); his thoughts on the 2021 Atlanta Falcons and why he thinks Matt Ryan still has gas left in the tank (38:09); his current relationship with Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank (39:43); his advice for Aaron Rodgers in the wake of his COVID-19 controversy in Green Bay (40:12); his thoughts on DeSean Jackson landing on yet another team (41:25); why he probably talks to Lamar Jackson's coaches more than he actually talks to Lamar Jackson (42:00); how Tom Brady is three years older than him, yet is still playing at an MVP-level (42:32); and this week's edition of “The Name Game,” featuring Keith Brooking, DeAngelo Hall, Roddy White, Andy Reid, Rex Ryan, Mike Tomlin, Antonio Brown, Brian Finneran, Jason Kelce and Warrick Dunn (43:24).Then we move to this week's edition of “Morten's Fast 5,” where our Hall of Famer makes picks for the five biggest games of the football weekend (48:27 – 55:07). Morten gives his picks for Patriots at Falcons (49:12), Cowboys at Chiefs (50:40), Colts at Bills (51:32), Giants at Buccaneers (52:34), and Saints at Eagles (53:28).Finally, we close things out with “Morten's Game Winner” – a weekly monologue from The Great Dane on his biggest takeaway of the week. This week, Morten talks about Michael Vick, and why the comeback is always greater than the setback (55:08).
From every SF game from 1-5, and Alpha 1-2, if we are following SF2-Game Boy rules listing 9 characters that would be in the game. As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers turn the page towards Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles, we get our first injury report of the new week. Lavonte David, Rob Gronkowski, Ryan Jensen, Tom Brady, Chris Godwin, Jason Pierre-Paul, Giovani Bernard, Antonio Brown, Jamel Dean, and Ryan Succop headline a star-studded injury report for the Bucs. For the Eagles, Derek Barnett, Dallas Goedert, Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Jordan Mailata, and Landon Dickerson all start the week on the injury report as well. It's not likely all of those contributors will miss time for the Buccaneers, but it's equally likely they'll have to play on a short week without at least a couple of them. All of this is beginning to set the stage Tom Brady will lead the Tampa Bay offense back onto the field, looking for yet another personal best for two weeks in a row, and another piece of NFL history. With four touchdown passes on Thursday night, Brady would become the first quarterback in NFL history to reach 600 career touchdown passes. Helping him reach that milestone are three star wide receivers (Mike Evans, Godwin, and Brown) who need under 60-yards a game each to give the Bucs three 1,000-yard receivers in 2021. As the Tampa Bay offense starts looking more and more like the late 2020 version which helped carry the team to a Super Bowl win, another big performance in Week 6 would give a big jump in confidence this team can weather all the injuries it's suffered thus far. They won't be pushing the Buccaneers towards victory alone, but it's nice to know a team can lean on their offense to score in bunches when the defense needs them to. Still, a lot of credit should be given to Todd Bowles and his position coaches, for producing a defense that has held three of their five opponents to 25 points or less this season, despite the laundry list of injuries suffered on that side of the ball. Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro TE Travis Kelce and Rich discuss the popularity of the Peyton and Eli Manning Monday Night Football ‘Manningcast' and if he and his brother, Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce, would consider doing their own ‘Kelcecast' football commentary, KC's shocking 1-2 start and how Andy Reid kept the ship steady as the Chiefs head into their HUGE Week 5 AFC Championship Game rematch against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. In his Week 4 ‘Overreaction Monday' segment Rich weighs in on if the Cardinals should be considered Super Bowl favorites, if Mac Jones is the best rookie QB from this year's draft class, if the Steelers should trade for Deshaun Watson, if the Bills are the best team in the AFC, if Jimmy Garoppolo is likely to lose his starting job to Trey Lance if he misses any time with a calf injury, and if the Chiefs' porous defense will keep them from reaching the Super Bowl again. Rich comments on Kyler Murray and the Cardinals impressive thumping of the previously unbeaten Rams in Week 4 and explains why Arizona is a big problem for the rest of the NFL, and wonders if Murray, a former Oakland A's top prospect, has any regrets about choosing the NFL over baseball. It wasn't pretty on Monday night when the Eagles opened the NFC East schedule at Dallas on Monday night, losing 41-21 on a night when the offense couldn't get anything going in the first half and the defense had no answers for the Cowboys' offensive weapons. Happy Murica's BIRTHDAY to all of you in Hoagie Mouth Nation! We are one united nation today....distressed at the state of our Philadelphia teams. Honestly, I think within the course of one week, we went from the Eagles being the team we're "third-most excited about" to a definite number one spot on the "thrilled to watch" scale. Jason Kelce guest bartending and shotgunning Bud Lights for charity is literally the best thing that happened in Philadelphia sports this week. But FRET NOT HM Nation - help is on the way, even though at the time of recording we didn't know the Phillies would go on a 2 game hot streak WOOP WOOP. Heck, maybe even the Flyers could try to make a move, and remind us that they're actually a franchise. But next week, dear listener, we'll have more to dissect, analyze, complain, and celebrate about...in the world of Philly spots. Until then - have an Impossible Burger on us.
