In order to get right to the point of this article, which is a call back to submission to the Scriptures and submission by the Scriptures, a few principles are in order. One of the central obligations of the church is to be holy. “But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15-16). We recognize that what God has done for us in Christ, and the giving of His Spirit, is the great act of spiritual resurrection in the heart, whereby God's claim upon us as His people, to be a holy people, is now met with life giving power from the Spirit of God to be a holy people (Ephesians 5:1,18). Holiness is thus intrinsic to the people of God by God's own declaration of His people as a holy people and God's own giving of His Spirit to do so. When you think of the book of Samuel; its theology, themes, and characters, you may not have given much of a consideration to Jonathan. You may not hear many Sunday sermons on Jonathan, and I understand why. Samuel is the prophet raised up by God to bring Yahweh's word to all Israel (1 Samuel 4:1), Saul is the first anointed king (1 Samuel 10), and David, whose life takes up most of the book, typifies the Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 110 reads, The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit ay my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” 2 The Lord sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. In Matthew 12:22-30 we have an account of Jesus healing a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute. After He does this, the Pharisees catch wind of it, and naturally, in Pharisaical fashion, they need to figure out a way to discredit what Jesus is doing because they are filled with envious rage. So they claim that He casts out demons by Beelsebul, the prince of demons. Now, this seems like a foolish argument, and Jesus proves it to be so. He says, “If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand” (Matthew 12:26)? Simply put, if Jesus is casting out demons by the chief demon himself, it would be self-defeating to the expansion of his own kingdom and rule over people. But He then tells them, it is not by Beelsebul that this is happening, but by the Spirit of God. He says, “But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you” (Matthew 12:28).  The kingdom of God did indeed come upon them, and us. It has entered in and has been unfolding ever since our Lord began His ministry. Now here is the interesting part; after this, he tells them what is actually happening. Jesus has bound up Satan and is plundering his goods. “How can someone enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house” (Matthew 12:29). That which has been under Satan’s control (the souls of men) is being taken back by the King of kings. Jesus is indeed the plunderer of goods. Language shapes our reality. God spoke and it was. He then made Adam and Even to cultivate and keep the world and shape it to reflect God's glory. If we want to fight our current battles successfully then we need to reclaim language. If we have any hope of building for future generations, then we need to reclaim language. The world knows this and seek to shape it to their own image (Psalm 2:2-3). God's word needs to be brought to bear. Their doom was sure. So, without presuming upon the mercy of God, they repented. And God turned from the calamity that He was about to bring upon them. “He did it not.” Our destruction is sure, for we have saturated our soil with the blood of innocents. With all the looming issues of our day, many Christians have sought to bolster the idea that our kids, the next generation, will be able to fight and withstand what is coming their way. While this is often said with good-hearted intentions, it is not the reality we can simply expect. We should want our kids to embrace, or any generation for that matter, the place and time they find themselves. We should want them to face whatever comes their way with courage and vigor. But have forgotten to ask one vital question, "Have we prepared them to do so?" Before running into battle, we ought to step back and ask, "Are we even prepared to fight?" We have often heard and probably said ourselves, "I cannot forgive unless they ask for forgiveness." But is that even true? Or does this typical Christian answer reveal the hidden roots of bitterness of an unforgiving heart?  

What does.. “On earth as it is In heaven” mean for the “earth” right now? What happens when we pray for “heaven” to fill the earth?  Does it mean we want Christ’s name to be made the greatest name on earth.. because it is in heaven.. Read more ----more----

It is important that you give your pastors grace just as you would give your own husband. If your own husband wronged you in some way, I would hope that you would have a heart filled with forgiveness and love. The men that pastor the flock along with your husband are no more perfect than he is. There will be times where their faults come out. There will be times where they say something to you that you do not like, or they say it in a way that you do not like. I urge you, sisters, forgive them from the heart as though it were your own husband. Do not harbor bitterness in your heart towards your pastors.    Lastly, I would urge you to pray for them. Undoubtedly, you are praying for your own husband. Hopefully you pray for him often. Do not forget to pray for the other men along with him. They need your prayers as well. The more you pray for them, the more your heart will be inclined to do all of the things stated previously. Remember them in your prayers. Pray that you would esteem them the way you do your husband. Most Christians don't think that talks of crushing their enemies and calling on God to destroy their enemies is all the loving, let alone biblical. Yet, phrases like this are found throughout the Psalms and Christians must deal with them. They must deal with the imprecatory Psalms. Are the imprecatory Psalms for Christians? While Christians have rightly adored many of the Psalms as expressions of their own heart and feelings towards God, Christians have often shied away from the imprecatory Psalms. While some ignore them altogether, others have reduced them to rudimentary expressions of religious fervor and zealotry of a by-gone era. But is there more to the imprecatory Psalms than meets the eye? What are the imprecatory Psalms? The Christian Post dropped an article recently entitled, “Lauren Daigle on homosexuality: I can’t say one way or the other if it’s a sin, ‘I am not God.’” The quote embedded in the title came from an interview the artist recently did on “The Domenick Nati Show.” Now, the quote is troubling to say the least. However, the headline is not all that shocking. Most headlines regarding Christian artists and leaders with the phrase, “What so and so says about homosexuality,” are now all too predictable. You can almost fill in the blanks for yourself. High profile figures do not make headlines for affirming the biblical and traditional understanding of human sexuality and how it relates to homosexuality. Not in today’s culture. The news feed on social media outlets is a reminder of the great proverbial phrase, “There is nothing new under the sun.” Truly. There is nothing new. While it may seem that the world around us is collectively losing its mind, we ought to remember that the Romans were no better and that did not hinder Christians then. We ought to remember that the world will act like the world and this ought not hinder Christians now. Christ’s gospel of the kingdom was accomplishing then what it is accomplishing now. Instead of always being shocked by what the world does, we ought to think how we can speak and act in the world, a world which the worldly will not inherit, a world which has been bought by Christ, and a world that the meek will inherit. The Western world has collectively discarded its Christian heritage and is seeking in a fit of madness to abandon God's world. Just several weeks ago, a British tribunal, ruled that the Department for Work and Pensions did not discriminate against former employer David Mackereth, who refused to use transgender clients preferred pronouns. The tribunal, by divine fiat, has declared Mackereth to be in the wrong. They have upheld the law of the pagan gods and have declared Christ and his church to be heretics and thus to be excommunicated.  While this may come as no surprise to Christians in the West, given the trajectory of the Western culture in the last decade, it serves as a reminder for Christians: everybody has a god. What is currently happening in Britain and in other parts of the world, who often claim to have thrown off the shackles of Christianity, is the simple trading of one master for another master. One gospel for another gospel. One law for another law.  Secularism is not new under the sun. Its simply a repackaged paganism, without hope and without God in the world. Yet, God's world is inescapable. God's creatures can only hide and suppress this truth for a time. As Christians, we ought to show that the king has no clothes and that Britain has no standard. While they claim to be wise, they are fools. So why let the fools run around claiming they have escaped from God's world?    Listen in! Alabama has recently passed the most comprehensive pro-life legislation of any state, virtually outlawing abortion in the state. If there wasn't already enough controversy brewing in the Southern Baptist Convention, more was just opened up. The battle ground for the pulpit is coming to the forefront in the SBC though the battle is not new. The question before the SBC and really before us is, "Will we uphold what Scripture teaches regarding the qualifications and roles of pastors?" This week a recent spark flared in the debate as Beth Moore reacted to Owen Strachan's post on complementarianism with a long thread of messages regarding the issue and Owen's unwavering stand on complementarianism. What resulted was not so much clarity from Beth Moore herself but from a brief report by Relevant Magazine who entitled the report of Moore and Strachan's interaction as "Beth Moore Takes a Theologian to Task About Why Women Can and Should Preach In Church." Yet, what separates the NAR from other seeker friendly trends in evangelicalism is its core belief that a Third Wave of the Spirit has given to the church modern day apostles and prophets to lead and guide the church. Standing on this foundation is the charismatic mania that defines NAR and its many leaders and followers. From claims of healing, prophecies, to glory clouds and God speaking personally to its leaders and followers, the NAR is an attractive appeal to younger generations who see traditional Christianity as cold and dead. Issac was a foreshadowing of God giving His own Son for the sins of the world. When we think of the story of Issac we ought to remember the importance of God giving His one and only begotten Son as a sacrifice for sin. In Matthew 6:19-24 is a stark reminder of the distinction between treasure on earth and treasure in heaven. One leads to decay and ruin while the other leads to light. As Christians, we are not the source of the light of the body. The healthy eye is that which looks to God as its rightful source of joy and treasure, with God being the supreme joy and treasure of the Christian life. Christians have a far superior love. Christ for his people is the ultimate display of love. As his disciples we are to love as he loved. By this we know we love Christ, if we keep his commandments. Judah Smith wants you to know that Jesus is not your judge? But, is that true? Or is that simply what a guy on stage is telling you? Does the Bible actually put Jesus forward as Lord? Is Jesus depicted as a ruling and reigning king or is he a passive, non judgmental, teacher of love? The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is here. The NAR is spreading across evangelicalism like a tsunami wave and many are being taken in by its current. Though hard to define at times, the NAR has distinct theological characteristics. Moreover, it is a movement that is capturing the hearts and minds of young evangelicals and many unchurched youth. Flashy shows, loud modern music, hip pastors, and being "in tune with the Spirit" are all elements of the NAR. Yet, what separates the NAR from other seeker friendly trends in evangelicalism is its core belief that a Third Wave of the Spirit has given to the church modern day apostles and prophets to lead and guide the church. Standing on this foundation is the charismatic mania that defines NAR and its many leaders and followers. From claims of healing, prophecies, to glory clouds and God speaking personally to its leaders and followers, the NAR is an attractive appeal to younger generations who see traditional Christianity as cold and dead. Should you think your dreams are a means by which God regularly speak to you? Are you taking notes in a dream journal? More importantly, does the Bible tell us we should expect to receive words from God in our dreams? Acts 2 is often cited as evidence that in the New Covenant that visions and dreams are expected realities for Christians to have. We attempt to show that is error and misses the great point of the passage in Acts 2.  Then, the pro-choice movement continues to show its true colors by advocating for more abortion laws that allow children to be murdered all the way up until the end of the third trimester. Though pro-choice opponents often cite this as a medical necessity and not something that should be considered a norm in the abortion industry, the reality is that the push for late term abortions is simply to allow woman the right to murder their child at any point in pregnancy. We play two clips: The first is from Kathy Tran, who proposed a bill in Virginia that would remove restrictive language for third trimester abortions, allowing abortions all the way up unto birth. The second clip, is commentary from Ralph Northam, who later came under intense fire for his comments regarding the bill.  Lastly, Pastor J.D. What do John Gray and and T.D. Jakes have in common? Well...more than we would like to discuss but in this episode we expose how John Gray is unqualified as a pastor. John Gray admits to his family falling apart, his marriage in shambles, his leadership in the home destroyed, and his adultery against his wife. Yet, because John Gray is an evangelical superstar he has been elevated above the Bible's own qualifications for pastors. It seems that true repentance and faith can be substituted for absolution by another evangelical superstar, the pope of word-of-faith himself, T.D. Jakes.  Our ultimate point: Avoid these men. Stop listening to these men. Stop giving them your time and attention. Flee their teaching. They are not seeking to please God but to please man.

The Stateoftheology.com released an extensive polling report on the state of evangelical theology...it aint good. While it may be no surprise that American Christianity is theologically inept and biblically illiterate, the question arises, Where do we go from here? Why is the state of theology telling of larger problems with evangelicalism? Then, Andy Stanley unhitches from the Old Testament and tells others to do so as well. Is the death, burial, and resurrection propped up by the Old Testament? Or is Christ, the church and the New Testament able to stand apart from the Old Testament.
